Анотація:

This article examines the religious-political ideology of the Houthi movement in Yemen. In particular, it explores the political objectives and historical roots of the Houthis’ rebellion that was initiated in 2004 and continued into 2009 through six rounds of wars, which were called Sa’dah wars. The Houthis implemented a military coup in 2014 against Mansour Hadi’s government and seized state institutions which led to Yemen’s current civil war. A catastrophic battle also erupted when the Saudi-led military coalition decided to intervene in the conflict in 2015, with the aim of restoring the legitimacy of the previous regime as well as defeating the Houthis insurgency. Despite numerous studies on the issues relating to civil war in Yemen, there is no adequate study on the perspective of Houthis’ religious-political ideology. This research is qualitative using in-depth interviews with seven experts and observers of the Yemeni war. This article analyses major reasons for the historical rebellion and the ongoing catastrophic war in Yemen, based on the Houthis’ religious-political ideology. The findings of this article inform that the current conflict in Yemen is rooted in historical circumstances which gave rise to a heavy responsibility or burden on the Houthis, whereby according to the theory of the divine right to rule, the Houthis and their ancestors, the Hashemites claim the monopoly of regional (present day Yemen) power. Thus, this theory has been considered as one of the key dynamics of the outbreak and the continuation of the current war in Yemen. It is very likely that the trend of increased Houthis’ rebellion will continue for the next few years in Yemen due to the movement’s firm aim of power struggle, based on their religious-political ideology of the ‘divine right to rule’.

El liberalismo español concedió mucha importancia a la ritualidad política. Era necesario representar públicamente sus principios, sus valores constitutivos y su orden sociopolítico, condensándolo en un sistema simbólico complejo. En una época dominada por las formas de gobierno monárquicas, este proyecto ritual liberal se elaboró en diálogo con las ceremonias monárquicas, integradas en una longeva tradición cultural. Esto hizo que se produjera un continuo trasvase entre ambas formas rituales y sus significados políticos. Este artículo analiza los intentos por conciliar simbólica y ritualmente los dos principales sujetos soberanos del siglo XIX –la monarquía y la nación– mediante las ceremonias políticas que llevaba a la Corona a la sede de la representación nacional: la apertura/clausura de Cortes y la jura de la Constitución. El proceso no fue monolítico, sino que sufrió intensos cambios en función a los contextos y el reparto de papeles. Entre 1808 y 1837 se sucederán en España tres modelos ceremoniales asociados a tres sistemas políticos, enfatizando el complejo proceso de adaptación de la monarquía al liberalismo. Establecido el modelo definitivamente en 1837, comenzó entonces un intenso combate por sus usos y significados. Estos rituales llevaron a los gobiernos a instrumentalizar a la Corona, haciéndola descender al combate político alejado de aquella reclusión moderadora teorizada. Pero igualmente, se convirtieron en espacios de protesta y discusión pública. Tras estas ceremonias se evidencia la lucha por el control del espacio público y la legitimación política donde los silencios, las aclamaciones y los vítores se erigen en armas políticas.

Анотація:

Cyberwar challenges future endeavors of state security. As technological capability has improved, and access to information has become more widespread the importance of the issue in today's ever-globalizing world grows each day. A primary objective is to evaluate the place of cyber-warfare against nation-states and any repercussions under an international law paradigm. Utilizing an English School perspective, emphasis will be applied to the argument that disruptive circumstances could come to fruition if international conventions are not created to bring consensus and order among nation-states on this subject. This study hypothesizes that a future application could be an agreement under international law, beyond current regional cooperative initiatives. Since cyber-related attack is a relatively new development, the issue lacks adequate historical context. In addition, since state behavior is a major contributor to the interpretation of international law, the matter is in need of a clear delineation of the norms that define the phenomena and what acceptable responses might entail. Case study analysis will highlight recent examples of state behavior and cyber-related attacks and sabotages.

Анотація:

The aim of this thesis is to compare the different Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon film reviews from Chinese and American reviewers respectively, and to see how they evaluate and understand the film in the different ways. We use reception theory as our theoretical tool, and divide the film into four themes so that we can compare the different reviews in a more relative way. Meanwhile, we also present some brief ideas to explain the reason why the film gets the different response from both sides. Since our main purpose is to compare the different film reviews, so we choose the comparative design as our research design. The main findings of this thesis show that Chinese and American reviewers do have some distinct evaluations, understandings and views about the film.Besides, culture and aesthetic become the two major factors to influence the response from both sides.

Анотація:

Since the 1990s the Great Lakes Region has continued to be mired in intractable conflict, with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) being at the center of it. The aim of this study is therefore an attempt to understand how the InternationalConference of the Great Lakes Region has fared in the transformation of conflict in the region, through its attempts in the DRC. For the purpose of the study, conflict transformation as presented by John Paul Lederachwas used as a theory of analyzing the selected peace efforts by the ICGLR. Furthermore, the data used in the study were secondary data which consists of archival records and documentation. The study revealed two key issues in the ICGLR’s approach to peace attempts in DRC; it showed that there are gaps in the conflict transformation approach of the earlier attempts by the ICGL, which favored more political solutions. Secondly, a rethink of the approach revealed a much more robust approach, which seeks to address not only the political conflicts but also seeks to address the historical and structural conflicts in the region. However, with the positive change in the approach, there are still high levels of conflict in the DRC.

This Masters research thesis is a pragmatic critical inquiry that will investigate kindness and collectivism as social transformation initiatives identified within a governance paradigm, and introduced internationally in The New Zealand Statement to the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (2018) and further demonstrated in her speech at the Christchurch Remembrance Service (2019) by New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. The pragmatic critical inquiry into these initiatives will be contextualised and synthetically analysed against a theoretical framework assembled for this thesis comprising of the cultural and political theory of Hannah Arendt, Tom Clark, John Ralston Saul, and Iris Marion Young. Additional analysis will also consider Opinion and Op-ed from a selection of print media publications, examining a broader intersubjective response to both The New Zealand Statement and Ardern’s leadership actions in the wake of the Christchurch attack. The inquiry will look for connections that can be found, and meaning that can be revealed, as a result of a synthetic analysis of: the theoretical framework of cultural and political theory; Ardern’s speeches; and, the Opinion and Op-ed pieces. It will also consider if and how how this synthesis of materials may in turn augment the theoretical framework. At the heart of this inquiry is the question, is Ardern providing a template and paradigm for governance and social transformation?

Nel 1865 furono emanate le leggi di unificazione amministrativa del Regno d’Italia.
