This article proposes a solution to the problem of obtaining plausibility information, which is necessary to perform belief revision: given a sequence of revisions, together with their results, derive a possible initial order that has generated them; this is different from the usual assumption of starting from an all-equal initial order and modifying it by a sequence of revisions. Four semantics for iterated revision are considered: natural, restrained, lexicographic and reinforcement. For each, a necessary and sufficient condition to the existence of an order generating a given history of revisions and results is proved. Complexity is proved coNP complete in all cases but one (reinforcement revision with unbounded sequence length).

Predicting the adsorption performance to remove organic pollutants from wastewater is an essential environmental-related topic, requiring knowledge of various statistical tools and artificial intelligence techniques. Hence, this study is the first to develop a quadratic regression model and artificial neural network (ANN) for predicting biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) removal under different adsorption conditions. Nanozero-valent iron encapsulated into cellulose acetate (CA/nZVI) was synthesized, characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDS, and used as an efficient adsorbent for BOD reduction. Results indicated that the medium pH and adsorption time should be adjusted around 7 and 30 min, respectively, to maintain the highest BOD removal efficiency of 96.4% at initial BOD concentration C o = 100 mg/L, mixing rate = 200 rpm, and adsorbent dosage of 3 g/L. An optimized ANN structure of 5–10–1, with the “trainlm” back-propagation learning algorithm, achieved the highest predictive performance for BOD removal ( R 2 : 0.972, Adj- R 2 : 0.971, RMSE: 1.449, and SSE: 56.680). Based on the ANN sensitivity analysis, the relative importance of the adsorption factors could be arranged as pH > adsorbent dosage > time ≈ stirring speed > C o . A quadratic regression model was developed to visualize the impacts of adsorption factors on the BOD removal efficiency, optimizing pH at 7.3 and time at 46.2 min. The accuracy of the quadratic regression and ANN models in predicting BOD removal was approximately comparable. Hence, these computational-based methods could further maximize the performance of CA/nZVI material for removing BOD from wastewater under different adsorption conditions. The applicability of these modeling techniques would guide the stakeholders and industrial sector to overcome the nonlinearity and complexity issues related to the adsorption process.

Conventional main memory can no longer meet the requirements of low energy consumption and massive data storage in an artificial intelligence Internet of Things (AIoT) system. Moreover, the efficiency is decreased due to the swapping of data between the main memory and storage. This paper presents a hybrid storage class memory system to reduce the energy consumption and optimize IO performance. Phase change memory (PCM) brings the advantages of low static power and a large capacity to a hybrid memory system. In order to avoid the impact of poor write performance in PCM, a migration scheme implemented in the memory controller is proposed. By counting the write times and row buffer miss times in PCM simultaneously, the write-intensive data can be selected and migrated from PCM to dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) efficiently, which improves the performance of hybrid storage class memory. In addition, a fast mode with a tmpfs-based, in-memory file system is applied to hybrid storage class memory to reduce the number of data movements between memory and external storage. Experimental results show that the proposed system can reduce energy consumption by 46.2% on average compared with the traditional DRAM-only system. The fast mode increases the IO performance of the system by more than 30 times compared with the common ext3 file system.

Background. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has the similar curative effects to surgery, but RFA will lead to higher postoperative local recurrence rate. 3D-CEUS is a minimally invasive examination method, which is used to analyze the sensitivity to postoperative recurrence in this study. Methods. The clinical data of 60 patients with liver cancer admitted to our hospital (February 2018-February 2020) were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were treated with RFA and were followed up with 3D-CEUS, MRI, and enhanced CT examination after surgery. The ROC curve was used to analyze the differences of different examination methods in judging postoperative recurrence. Results. For the 60 patients, 52 patients (86.7%) had a single lesion and 8 patients (13.3%) had multiple lesions, with a total of 72 lesions. After RFA, 56 lesions (77.8%) were completely inactivated and 16 lesions (22.2%) remained. Totally inactivated lesions were detected as follows: 51 (91.1%) by 3D-CEUS, 42 (75.0%) by MRI, and 50 (89.3%) by enhanced CT. During a 2-year follow-up, a total of 26 recurrent lesions were detected, 24 (92.3%) by 3D-CEUS, 12 (46.2%) by MRI, and 25 (96.2%) by enhanced CT, indicating that the sensitivity of 3D-CEUS and enhanced CT was obviously higher than that of MRI ( P < 0.001 ), without conspicuous difference between sensitivity of 3D-CEUS and enhanced CT ( P > 0.05 ). Conclusion. As a new imaging examination method based on artificial intelligence, 3D-CEUS has a high sensitivity in patients with liver cancer who underwent RFA, which can effectively judge the recurrence after surgery and should be widely used in practice.

Purpose. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the leading cause of vision loss among active adults in industrialized countries. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM), DR and its different grades, in patients with DM in the Csongrád County, South-Eastern region, Hungary. Furthermore, we aimed to detect the risk factors for developing DR and the diabetology/ophthalmology screening patterns and frequencies, as well as the effect of socioeconomic status- (SES-) related factors on the health and behavior of DM patients. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted on adults (>18 years) involving handheld fundus camera screening (Smartscope Pro Optomed, Finland) and image assessment using the Spectra DR software (Health Intelligence, England). Self-completed questionnaires on self-perceived health status (SPHS) and health behavior, as well as visual acuity, HbA1c level, type of DM, and attendance at healthcare services were also recorded. Results. 787 participants with fundus camera images and full self-administered questionnaires were included in the study; 46.2% of the images were unassessable. T1D and T2D were present in 13.5% and 86.5% of the participants, respectively. Among the T1D and T2D patients, 25.0% and 33.5% had DR, respectively. The SES showed significant proportion differences in the T1D group. Lower education was associated with a lower DR rate compared to non-DR (7.7% vs. 40.5%), while bad/very bad perceived financial status was associated with significantly higher DR proportion compared to non-DR (63.6% vs. 22.2%). Neither the SPHS nor the health behavior showed a significant relationship with the disease for both DM groups. Mild nonproliferative retinopathy without maculopathy (R1M0) was detected in 6% and 23% of the T1D and T2D patients having DR, respectively; R1 with maculopathy (R1M1) was present in 82% and 66% of the T1D and T2D groups, respectively. Both moderate nonproliferative retinopathy with maculopathy (R2M1) and active proliferative retinopathy with maculopathy (R3M1) were detected in 6% and 7% of the T1D and T2D patients having DR, respectively. The level of HbA1c affected the attendance at the diabetology screening ( HbA 1 c > 7 % associated with >50% of all quarter-yearly attendance in DM patients, and with 10% of the diabetology screening nonattendance). Conclusion. The prevalence of DM and DR in the studied population in Hungary followed the country trend, with a slightly higher sight-threatening DR than the previously reported national average. SES appears to affect the DR rate, in particular, for T1D. Although DR screening using handheld cameras seems to be simple and dynamic, much training and experience, as well as overcoming the issue of decreased optic clarity is needed to achieve a proper level of image assessability, and in particular, for use in future telemedicine or artificial intelligence screening programs.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference between children's media TV media use and parents' perceptions and restrictions on media influence in the COVID-19 social environment. The research data is an analysis study using data from the 2020 Children's Media Use Survey by the Korea Press Foundation. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of parents' media awareness and restrictions on infants and to suggest media guidance methods for children. Results First, as a result of the analysis of the start time of TV viewing for infants, children under 12-18 months, under 6-12 months, and under 18-24 months were in the order of daycare centers, but in kindergartens, children under 12-18 months and under 18-24 months. , in the order of 3-4 years old. The TV viewing period was the highest among those under 12-18 months (27.3%), followed by 18-24 months and less than 6-12 months. Children's TV viewing content was slightly higher at daycare for children's content, but higher at kindergarten for animation and entertainment/show/entertainment. Overall, children's contents accounted for the most at 46.2%, followed by animation, entertainment/show/entertainment, news/current affairs, movies, and dramas. Third, as for the devices that children use to watch TV, smartphones accounted for the most at 60.6%, followed by tablet PCs, computers, artificial intelligence, and others. It can be seen that there is a lot of smartphone use. Fourth, as a result of analyzing differences in parents' perception and control of media influence on children, it was recognized that media use in kindergarten had more inappropriate effects on children than in daycare centers. Fifth, in terms of the physical/mental influence of media, daycare centers showed the perception that media had more influence on the cognitive and emotional development of children than kindergartens. In the control of children's media use, the ability to control time, place, and device for media use was higher in kindergarten than in daycare. In addition, the group living with both parents showed a higher ability to control the use of places and devices than the group living with non-adoptive parents. As a result suggestion, media guidance for young children should be combined with education for children and parental guidance for active intervention. We know that meaningful media use doesn't happen in circles. Therefore, it is necessary to select the right TV educational content for children and develop an age-appropriate program.

Abstract Objective To determine the anticipated contribution of recently published medical imaging literature, including artificial intelligence (AI), on the workload of diagnostic radiologists. Methods This study included a random sample of 440 medical imaging studies published in 2019. The direct contribution of each study to patient care and its effect on the workload of diagnostic radiologists (i.e., number of examinations performed per time unit) was assessed. Separate analyses were done for an academic tertiary care center and a non-academic general teaching hospital. Results In the academic tertiary care center setting, 65.0% (286/440) of studies could directly contribute to patient care, of which 48.3% (138/286) would increase workload, 46.2% (132/286) would not change workload, 4.5% (13/286) would decrease workload, and 1.0% (3/286) had an unclear effect on workload. In the non-academic general teaching hospital setting, 63.0% (277/240) of studies could directly contribute to patient care, of which 48.7% (135/277) would increase workload, 46.2% (128/277) would not change workload, 4.3% (12/277) would decrease workload, and 0.7% (2/277) had an unclear effect on workload. Studies with AI as primary research area were significantly associated with an increased workload (p < 0.001), with an odds ratio (OR) of 10.64 (95% confidence interval (CI) 3.25–34.80) in the academic tertiary care center setting and an OR of 10.45 (95% CI 3.19–34.21) in the non-academic general teaching hospital setting. Conclusions Recently published medical imaging studies often add value to radiological patient care. However, they likely increase the overall workload of diagnostic radiologists, and this particularly applies to AI studies.

IntroductionAn increasing number of digital tools, including dedicated diagnostic decision support systems (DDSS) exist to better assess new symptoms and understand when and where to seek medical care. The aim of this study was to evaluate patient's previous online assessment experiences and to compare the acceptability, usability, usefulness and potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI)-based symptom checker (Ada) and an online questionnaire-based self-referral tool (Rheport).Materials and MethodsPatients newly presenting to three German secondary rheumatology outpatient clinics were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to complete consecutively Ada or Rheport in a prospective non-blinded multicentre controlled crossover randomized trial. DDSS completion time was recorded by local study personnel and perceptions on DDSS and previous online assessment were collected through a self-completed study questionnaire, including usability measured with the validated System Usability Scale (SUS).Results600 patients (median age 52 years, 418 women) were included. 277/600 (46.2%) of patients used an online search engine prior to the appointment. The median time patients spent assessing symptoms was 180, 7, and 8 min, respectively using online using search engines, Ada and Rheport. 111/275 (40.4%), 266/600 (44.3%) and 395/600 (65.8%) of patients rated the respective symptom assessment as very helpful or helpful, using online search engines, Ada and Rheport, respectively. Usability of both diagnostic decision support systems (DDSS) was “good” with a significantly higher mean SUS score (SD) of Rheport 77.1/100 (16.0) compared to Ada 74.4/100 (16.8), (p &lt; 0.0001). In male patients, usability of Rheport was rated higher than Ada (p = 0.02) and the usability rating of older (52 years ≥) patients of both DDSS was lower than in younger participants (p = 0.005). Both effects were independent of each other. 440/600 (73.3%) and 475/600 (79.2%) of the patients would recommend Ada and Rheport to friends and other patients, respectively.ConclusionIn summary, patients increasingly assess their symptoms independently online, however only a minority used dedicated symptom assessment websites or DDSS. DDSS, such as Ada an Rheport are easy to use, well accepted among patients with musculoskeletal complaints and could replace online search engines for patient symptom assessment, potentially saving time and increasing helpfulness.

Background: Cardiovascular events are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in chronic hemodialysis patients. Impaired right ventricular function is often associated with poor survival in hemodialysis patients. Objective: To determine the effect of vascular access flow (AVFs) of right ventricular function. Methods: This cross-sectional study was done in Department of Nephrology, DMCH during the period January 2020 to July 2021. End stage renal disease patient underwent hemodialysis for ≥3 months were recruited in the study. Patients with chronic respiratory disease, severe valvar heart disease, AVFs flow<200ml/min were excluded. Right ventricular function was assessed by Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion (TAPSE) through echocardiography and AVFs blood flow by color duplex study. History for diabetes mellitus, glomerulonephritis and hypertension were retrieved from medical records in addition to variable age and gender. Results of the biochemical variable also retrieved. TAPSE ≤16mm was taken as cut off to characterize subjects as Group I, impaired right ventricular function. Those with >16mm termed as Group II, normal right ventricular function. Data were expressed as mean±SD and number (present) as appropriate. Unpaired student t test, invariable and multivariable analysis were performed as applicable using statistical package for social science (SPSS). p<0.05% was taken as level of significant. Results: of the total 80 subject 26 constituted Group I and 54 in Group II. Distribution of male and female did not show any statistical association. Distribution of gender in two groups did not show any statistical association. Distribution of the subjects in age cluster was similar in the two groups. History of DM, GN, and HTN distribution in the two groups was also similar. Duration of hemodialysis (mean±SD) in Group I was 28.04 months and 26.39 months in Group II; two group did not show statistical difference (p=0.529). Systolic blood pressure was 163 mmHg and 160mmHg in Group I and Group II respectively and diastolic blood pressure (mean±SD, mmHg) was 92mmHg and 92mmHg in Group I and Group II respectively; did not statistical difference (p=0.283 and 0.960 respectively). AVFs blood flow 1603±382ml/min (mean±SD,ml/min) in group I was significantly higher compared to the counterpart group II 791±189ml/min. The trend was supported by the significant (p=0.001) inverse relationship between TAPSE and AVFs blood flow. In Group I radio cephalic and brachiocephalic AV fistula distribution was 12 vs 24 (46.2 vs 53.8%) which in the Group II was 51 vs 3(94.4 vs 5.6%). Conclusion: Data concluded that brachiocephalic AVFs lead to significantly higher blood flow than the radio cephalic fistula resulting impaired right ventricular function, which reconfirmed the usefulness of distal AVF as a vascular access in patient for hemodialysis.
