Background: Obesity is an ongoing problem in the developed countries and it’s a new and growing problem in the developing countries. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and perception on obesity among female aged 18 years.Methods: The study is a descriptive cross-sectional research design on 186 students of UEAB in 2017. In order to collect the data was used a self-administered questionnaire, which will be used to measure the knowledge level and perception to gather factual information about the respondents. This questionnaire will involve a set of closed-ended questions. The data were analysed using SPSS 23. The researchers used descriptive statistics including mean, median and mode.Results: The knowledge on obesity, it was found that most of the participants have heard of obesity and they term it as the excessive fat accumulation to body. Participants also indicated that they knew the causes of obesity and in degrees of whether they agree or disagree, indicated that they strongly agreed and agreed that consumption of junk foods and lack of physical exercise caused obesity and they agreed that family history may also cause obesity. The perception on obesity, participants viewed obesity to be average among undergraduate ladies residing in ladies’ dorm. It was also revealed that 7.5 percent of the participants think they are obese and they are unsatisfied with their body weights.Conclusions: The study exposes the lack of knowledge regarding obesity. However, perceptions of the participants were promising. This is because nearly all of them felt those who are not obese should be encouraged to maintain their weight and the overweight people should lose weight or be treated to achieve medical benefit.

How this incarnation occurred was a great mystery. How could spirit be made flesh? How did the transcendent and the timeless enter the forms of the mundane and the contingent? Platonist and providentialist perspectives offered ways of speaking about the mystery, but, in general, it remained unresolved at the core of orthodox idealist historiography.1

Abstract The term ‘worldviews’ is employed across disciplinary boundaries, yet with no agreed definition it may actually obscure rather than clarify meaning. The use of the term has grown in frequency, particularly in Religious Education (RE) in England, since the Commission on RE’s final report (2018), which recommended changing the name of RE to ‘Religion and worldviews’. Response to the report has been mixed. Some fear that an introduction of worldviews may lead to a dilution of RE and overburden an already overstretched teaching profession; others welcome a meaningful study of non-religious worldviews which they view as more pertinent in the current growth of ‘nones’ (Nones’ term used for those who adhere to ‘no faith’, see Woodhead (J Br Acad 4:245–261, 2016)) in England. Teaching worldviews raises questions of selection: are all worldviews equally appropriate for pupils to study and consistent with the aims of education? For example, is it appropriate for a 6 year old to study Hedonism or National Socialism? This paper problematizes the binary nature of the debate and interrogates the usage of the term 'worldviews'. Focusing on ‘institutional worldviews’ is questionable as the role of master narratives, embedded in these, lose currency. The ‘disintegration of master narratives’, (Riessman in Narrative Methods for the Human Sciences. SAGE Publications, Thousand Oaks, 2008, p. 17), has led to a rise in individuals creating their personal embodied worldviews, albeit subconsciously. Rather than consider worldviews as a discrete body of knowledge that imposes on an already overburdened curriculum, I propose that employing worldviews as an overarching concept, providing a type of paradigmatic analysis for RE, may lead to a greater and more profound understanding of religion(s).

Background Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a commonly seen comorbidity in patients undergoing endoscopic skull base surgery and its presence may influence perioperative decision-making. Current practice patterns for preoperative screening of OSA are poorly understood. Objective The objective of this study was to assess how endoscopic skull base surgeons screen for OSA, and how knowledge of OSA affects perioperative decision-making. Methods Seven question survey distributed to members of the North American Skull Base Society. Results Eighty-eight responses (10% response rate) were received. 60% of respondents were from academic centers who personally performed >50 cases per year. Most respondents noted that preoperative knowledge of OSA and its severity affected postoperative care and increased their concern for complications. Half of respondents noted that preoperative knowledge of OSA and its severity affects intraoperative skull base reconstruction decision-making. 70% of respondents did not have a preoperative OSA screening protocol. Body mass index and patient history were most frequently used by those who screened. Validated screening questionnaires were rarely used. 76% of respondents agreed or somewhat agreed that a preoperative polysomnogram should ideally be performed for patients with suspected OSA; however, 50% of respondents reported that <20% of their patients with suspected OSA are advised to obtain a preoperative polysomnogram. Conclusion This study reveals that most endoscopic skull base surgeons agree that OSA affects postoperative patient care, but only a minority have a preoperative screening protocol in place. Additional study is needed to assess the most appropriate screening methods and protocols for OSA patients undergoing endoscopic skull base surgery.

Introduction: The population has not been investigated extensively about understanding and perception about obesity and its complications. The aim of the study was to investigate the understanding, recognition and practice between overall population in the selected areas of Lahore related to obesity and its complications. Methods: The descriptive study which involved 100 respondents. The respondents from Hussain Abad Lahore were conveniently approached and recruited. A pre-approved, questionnaire was used for data accumulation. SPSS version 20 was used both descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: From Out of the total 100 participants, 53% were females and 47% were males. Almost the half Participant 45% was in the age of 35years. Nearly 91% respondents don’t have idea about normal body mass index of adults. While 89% participants don’t know hormonal problems can lead the obesity. However 51% participants know that obesity can lead the heart problems. . Just about 52% participants were agreeing that when the person consumes extra calories than the individual burns obesity can occurs. 44% participants were agreed that psychological factors can influence the eating habits and obesity more over 36% are agreed that junk food takers are more susceptible to obesity. Only 3% participant checks their Body Mass Index (BMI) level. 26% change their eating habits, physical activity in order to maintain their physique and 11% takes of junk food. Conclusion: The respondents were more careful that obesity happens when a man expends a bigger number of calories than a man devours it. However the respondents know about obesity and its entanglements to some degree, their preparation towards weight isn't general which ought to be investigated later on for better human administrations, and prosperity comes about. Abstract Owls are considered as dominant predators for control of rats and mice population in agricultural fields and presently their populations are continuously declining in Punjab, Pakistan. The present study was aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of people of rural and urban areas about the declining trend of owls. During this survey, more than 1600 people were asked to collect information regarding the owl populations from six localities including Faisalabad, Sialkot, Jhang, Lahore and Bahawalnagar. Four parameters were the major part of the questionnaire: familiarity, misconceptions, awareness about owls and their acceptance as a biological controlling agent. The results revealed that about 95% of people were familiar with owls in the agro-ecosystem. Only 15.6% of people thought that owls should be eliminated; 23.0% were of the opinion that owl’s presence in a locality leads to ruination; 33.3% agreed that the owls presence was a sign of bad omen; 41.8% considered them as signs of foolishness; 47.0% believed that owl’s body parts were used for black magic purposes. In contrast, 50% of people acknowledged that owls are beneficial to humans; 60.3% knew that owls are the enemies of rodents, 67.7% agreed that they are suppressors of rats and mice and 63.8% agreed that artificial nest boxes can serve as their nests and roosts. It was encouraging to know that 74.8% showed their willingness to enhance the owl’s population on their farms, and 74.0% were willing to permit the installation of nest boxes in or near the villages. The study of attitudes of respondents towards owl will help to develop an effective conservation strategy and to boost owl’s population in croplands for biological control of rats and mice.

Aim: This descriptive type of cross sectional study was conducted with an objective to evaluate the views of doctors regarding knowledge and practices about patient safety working at primary and secondary level health care facilities in Bangladesh. Methods: Study period was from August 2016 to December 2016. Multistage, convenience sampling was done . Sample size was 550. Self administered semi structured questionnaire was used for data collection after pre testing. Data was collected by principle investigator , co-investigator & data collectors. Data was also collected by sending questionnaire by postage followed by a focal group discussion. Results: Result showed 70 % were male and 57% were primary level medical officers. 44.9% understands patients safety. 51.1% understands medical errors . 37.5% agreed that less duty hours will reduce medical errors . 62% strongly agreed that Learning about patient safety will enhance competency. 44.5% agreed that undergraduate course prepared them to ensure patient safety. 37.5 % agreed that they learned about medical errors during their undergraduate course. 40.6% stated that they were assigned to perform the tasks for which they were not trained competently, 34% said that they were assigned to perform the tasks which could have resulted easily in medical errors . Most of the respondents strongly agreed that teaching about patient safety should be an important priority. 46% stated that these should be in clinical teaching and 40% stated the same to be in bed side teaching . 24% stated that there were not enough topics in the existing curriculum regarding patient safety. 46% confessed that they made medical errors during their practices. 33% stated that they want patient safety education in their professional practice, 76.9% strongly agreed that patient safety is an important issue in their professional practices and 44% sensitizes their colleagues about patient safety to learn & practices. 54.7% stated that they did not have error reporting system/ death review/ medical audit in their hospital, 89.7% did not have attended any training on patient safety . 90% thought that training on patient safety is essential for doctors 67.2% respondents opined that there should be a competent organization / body who can take care of patient safety & medical errors in Bangladesh. Conclusion: The study reflects that many primary level medical officers do not understand patients safety and medical errors. The study also showed that most of them has a positive attitude torwards patient safety. The primary aim of this study is to investigate commercial banks employee’s interactions in the advent and eminence of social media, thus, depict the major influence which is made by social media in two commercial banks (ABSA and Standard Bank) workflow. This study has employed a quantitative research approach whereby structured questionnaires were distributed respectively to two commercial banks’ employees. A self-developed and administered questionnaire was distributed to a population size of 194 employees with 102 returned and completed successfully, thereby generating a response rate of 53%. Findings in this study revealed the extent to which social media has changed workflow in commercial banks (54% agree, 23% were undecided, and 24% disagreed). Among other major findings that this study reflected, social media among commercial banks employees’ has totally transformed channels of communication (60% agreed, 25% were undecided, and 24% disagreed). Despite the positive advancements revealed in this study, social media has not allowed openness of emotions among commercial banks employees’ (49% agreed, 28% were undecided, and 24% disagreed). This study is expected to contribute to the body of knowledge, as there is a paucity of published studies on commercial banks employee’s interactions in the advent of social media. This study will also help the bank managers to intensify online team management and supervision. Malnutrition has a multifactorial origin and can be caused by cancer. This study determined the consensus of a panel of experts on the nutritional approach for cancer patients in Spain using a multidisciplinary approach. Using the Delphi methodology, a 74-question questionnaire was prepared and sent to 46 experts. The areas of knowledge addressed were the nutritional status of the cancer patient, nutritional screening, nutritional therapy, patient referral, and multidisciplinary care. A total of 91.7% of the experts agreed with the questions posed on nutritional status, 60.0% with those on nutritional screening, 76.7% with those on nutritional therapy, and the entire panel of experts agreed with the questions posed on patient referral and multidisciplinary care. The experts agreed upon a high prevalence of malnutrition among cancer patients in Spain. Unlike medical and radiation oncologists, medical nutrition specialists believe that body composition assessment should not be carried out in all types of cancer patients during nutritional screening and that interventions can be conducted outside the oncology clinic. In general, it is recommended that nursing staff routinely perform nutritional screening before starting cancer treatment. It is necessary to develop a multidisciplinary action protocol that includes nutritional and/or sarcopenia screening.

Human faces, bodies, and hands convey critical social information (e.g., emotions, goals, and desires). Infants, like adults, are sensitive to such social information. Unlike infants’ knowledge of the structure of the human face and body, not much is known about infants’ knowledge of hands and feet. The current study tested infants for their preference between intact hand images and ones in which the same hands were distorted (i.e., location of at least one finger was altered to distort the typical structure of the hand). Infants at 3.5 months of age had a preference for the reorganized hand image, demonstrating that 3.5-month-olds have sufficient knowledge of the configural properties of hands to discriminate between intact versus distorted images. Furthermore, when the same images were inverted, infants displayed no such preference, indicating that infants were not relying solely on low-level features to detect differences between intact versus reorganized hands. Contrastingly, when shown images of intact and reorganized feet, even 9-month-olds did not exhibit evidence of sensitivity to structural disruptions in images of feet. These results indicate that infants’ structural knowledge of hands, but not necessarily feet, develops along the same trajectory as their knowledge of faces and bodies.

This applied a multiphase approach, (a) a literature critique, (b) expert interviews, (c) quantitative validation, and (d) focus group analysis. Findings demonstrate this knowledge comprises a broad matrix of task related knowledge categories, ranging from diagnosing risk, professional inference using security theories and principles, to treatment via engineering knowledge supported by professional attributes.

The development of production line and facilities is without doubt a crucial task for the discrete goods producing industry in order to gain the competitive edge and the attention of the customer. This trend started already in 1969 when Skinner emphasised the strategic importance of manufacturing and that neglecting it could result in production which is time consuming and expensive. As well as this, the evolution in the manufacturing environment over recent years has resulted in the need to consider the whole product life cycle and hence the continuously shortening of the “Time to Market” period for new production facilities with ever higher quality requirements at lower costs. [Womack 1990, Pawar 1994, Case 1998, Wu 2000, Maffin 2001, Reid, 2002, Vonderembse 2003, Swift 2003]

The objective of this paper is to determine a Body of Knowledge for production development to enable small and medium sized enterprises (SME) to shorten their “Time to market” and thereby increase their profit margin. In this thesis it will be investigated how in particular each category of this Body of Knowledge will contribute to production development and how they can be merged into a generic methodology for production development. Literature revealed that there exist three different perspectives to production development which developed historically, namely the traditional and the down and upstream perspective. It could be concluded that the Body of Knowledge for the sequential traditional approaches was formed out of three categories, Production Development Process, Tools and Technology. The upstream and downstream perspectives are concurrent approaches and to date the Body of Knowledge has evolved over the years into five categories: Integrated Product Development, Multidisciplinary Teams, Project Management, Tools and Technology.

Since these categories cover more than just production development it was necessary to screen these adjoining fields for the particular contribution to production development. Finally, all the contribution could be merged into one overall production development methodology. This methodology describes the process for a systematic approach to production development which is based on the fact that it includes the complete Body of Knowledge. To adjust this methodology for the different production development projects in industry, a production development process template was integrated which enables small and medium enterprises to adapt the development process to their individual needs. The determination of such a generic methodology for production development based on its Body of Knowledge now enables now small and medium sized enterprises to approach production development generically and by that handle the development of production facilities more effective with regards to time and quality for ever more complex products.

Although embodied knowing is fundamental to our experience, no previous study has detailed its role in a specific spiritual group. This thesis offers a new model of embodied situated cognition, and develops an embodied hermeneutics which uses Focusing in phenomenological research. I apply these tools to the first detailed ethnography of Eco-Paganism to reveal powerful processes of connection which have considerable significance for religious studies and ecopsychology. Chapters 2 and 3 survey the literature on Eco-Paganism and embodied cognition. Chapter 4 uses the latter to synthesise a model of embodied situated cognition which I call the 'enactive process model', because it draws primarily on enactivism (inter alia, Varela et al., 1991), and Gendlin's process philosophy (Gendlin, 1997). Current research shows that key aspects of cognition are situated and embodied (inter alia, Varela et al., 1991), such that we often think with place (inter alia, Preston, 2003). This raises epistemological questions which I address in a discussion of embodied philosophy in Chapter 5. I then explain my embodied hermeneutics methodology, and the practical application ofthe Focusing Interview technique, in Chapter 6. My fieldwork auto ethnography, Chapter 7, provides an intuitive, felt understanding of life on a road protest site, and is followed by ethnographies of urban and protest site Eco-Paganism in Chapters 8 and 9. Chapter 10 discusses six processes which create a sense of connection to the organic environment, which include the felt sense (Gendlin, 1981) and the wilderness effect (Greenway, 1995). I conclude that a type of wilderness effect can catalyze the emergence of a complex 'nature based' spirituality amongst site Eco-Pagans, while a less intense form affects urban Eco-Pagans. Eco-Pagans sometimes use these processes of connection to think with a place. The processes of connection and thinking with place are fundamental to embodied situated knowing in Eco-Paganism, and help explain many of its distinctive aspects. By demonstrating the importance of embodied situated knowing in Eco-Paganism, I highlight the potential for further research into processes of connection and the impact of different physical spaces on religious practice in general.

To achieve this they depend on the choice of work procedures, suitable processes, methods, available knowledge and experiences, CAE tools and appropriate competence to manage the mentioned for concept creation and concept realization.This licentiate thesis presents a new method how to capture, store and reuse information and knowledge. It also includes discussions about which new technologies that are needed for Functional Product Development and a demonstrator that shows how downstream knowledge can be captured and realized in a computer application ready to use for designers in the early phases of the product development process. Focus for the method and demonstrator lies in the conceptual phase, since designers have most or best opportunities to change the design in this early phase. A change of the design later in the project will become more expensive and difficult and it might even be impossible to compensate or correct the shortcomings of a poor design concept.The new method and demonstrator are results of case studies made at Volvo Cars Corporation in Gothenburg, discussions and work shops together with the ProViking partner companies Volvo Cars Corporation, Volvo Aero, Sandvik Coromant and Hägglunds Drives.

This study took a grounded theory approach with the aim of developing a more holistic approach to learning and knowledge. There has been a lot written about learning and knowledge but very little has been written looking at the complex entanglement of the two. The research was very much grounded in the data whilst remaining sensitive to the theory of complexity. This study wanted to reject the simplistic and often mechanistic views of learning and knowledge and wanted to explore the more complex entanglement. This was done by taking data from three focus groups each consisting of 4-6 individuals. In addition a sense making workshop consisting of 5 individuals then helped to code and cluster the data which helped support the researcher's findings. At the time the research environment was going through a climate of change faced with huge financial pressures due to the economic downturn whilst still carrying the scars from previous litigation. The findings suggest that learning and knowledge is a very complex entanglement which is far more elaborate and complex than the theory immediately implies. These insights are discussed with reference to academic theory and a number of implications for business were identified. Overall the study supports a more integrated consideration of organisational learning and knowledge which should be applied in practice. If implemented effectively, should provide a more unique and sustainable competitive advantage, through a more effective workforce.

This paper explores the body of professional knowledge for academic librarians by researching library staff in Japanese colleges and universities. The research was undertaken in two ways. Initially 23 focus-group interviews were conducted at eight academic libraries from 2003 to 2005. Secondly a paper survey was carried out in 2004. Both of these targeted the whole body of the library staff, ranging from the chief librarian to junior staff. The authors have identified the knowledge and skills required for todayâ s academic librarians and learning opportunities that they preferred. The body of professional knowledge and skills revealed through the analysis of the outcomes of the research is presented here.

Abstract In this paper, we describe usage patterns of a design information database observed from four years of data, and discuss issues of learning through social and technology mediated interactions in a product design community. From the period of 1994 to 1999, an increasing amount of the design information in a project-based course at Stanford University has been captured in electronic format. This design information consists of design notes, drawings, reports, slide presentations, emails, vendor references, and even, in some cases, summaries of phone conversations, meeting minutes, and the like. The large corpus of captured information was made available to the project teams during each academic year on the assumption that one would be able to achieve better performance by building on and learning from experiences of peers. Because the data was all made available over a webserver, we were able to collect information on access to it We have thus had a chance to learn from studying the usage of a large body of captured design information. Preliminary analysis on the first two years of data was reported in DETC conference in 1998 (Liang, Cannon et al. 1998). Results from our current analysis show some interesting patterns of file utilization. Those patterns includes a surprising high ratio of access to process-related files, as opposed to product-related files; a temporal access pattern that closely matches project deliverables and milestones; and, an increased correlation between database usage and team-based performance over time. The results from quantitative data analysis are augmented with qualitative user interviews. When interviewed, all engineers agreed that there could be a lot of benefits from learning from peer experiences. Nevertheless, physical and psychological barriers often prevent one from doing so. Physical barriers include distance, time, and organizational distance. Some psychological barriers include the perceived value of the archived information, and perceived effort of finding useful information. These pragmatic organizational learning issues arise from the fact that the teams were working on diverse projects and are all pressured by time and resources. We hypothesize that these real-world constraints of time and resources prohibited many learning opportunities to occur which would otherwise have been very productive and effective. This tension between learning and working is the backdrop of this learning experiment. We suggest that the patterns reported in this paper will be typical of a small product design consulting firm that has many fast-paced projects running in parallel.

The North American pipeline industry is facing a time of significant expansion over the next decade as a result of market demand and technology advancements that have fundamentally shifted supply and demand patterns in North America. While recent commodity prices have softened, the need for pipeline infrastructure may only be somewhat delayed, still allowing industry opportunity to improve practices in a number of areas. The INGAA Foundation and the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) Foundation have a number of initiatives underway in this respect; in particular, there is an emphasis on improving quality in all aspects of the pipeline construction process. One of the initiatives, described in this paper, relates to the compilation of a guide and body of knowledge for inspection practices and captures best practices as they relate to third party inspection during the construction process. The outlined approach is intended to have two main philosophical underpinnings: it must complement existing practices, training and certification, and it must remain user friendly and practical to use. The main challenge in capturing best practices in this area lies in striking an appropriate balance between specific guidance regarding third party inspection and overly prescriptive, specific company practices. This is further complicated due to the broad range of topics and information required that is not always consistently documented across member companies. In light of these realities, the approach for the Practical Guide for Pipeline Construction Inspection was to align material required to perform an inspection task tightly to the sequential construction process to allow an intuitive layout for new industry entrants. Once a working group, representing both US and Canadian Operators and Services providers was established, a detailed table of contents was developed and agreed to by the group. Using this simple framework, available Member Company information was then reviewed, assessed and captured in detail for inclusion in the guide. The information took a range of forms ranging from specifications, manuals to training documents and modules. Significant collaboration, through working sessions, with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), used to review, revise and supplement the content, as required. Overall, this approach provided a technically sound guide, addressing gaps in codified industry knowledge, while remaining relevant and accessible for most users. Upon completion, this body of knowledge will be available for member companies to use immediately, and potentially, as a basis for training, individual study, and the further refinement of existing industry certification.

Abstract In the last decade, the volatility in the price of oil and gas have caused the industry to seek innovative ways of delivering profitable projects. This has been further challenged by safety and security risks and other considerations such as societal and political demands for an accelerated transition to a net-zero energy system. These complexities increasingly challenge energy companies to find ways of delivering projects within acceptable Value Investment Ratio (VIR), thus requiring that all components of the capital and operating expenditure are cost efficient. According to EIA 2016 report, drilling and completions cost (including tangible and intangible costs) account for 60 – 80% of the total well cost across the onshore and offshore plays. Most well projects in onshore and shallow offshore fields in Nigeria are in remote and challenging environments with most equipment sourced abroad. Therefore, deploying innovative approaches to managing supply chain risks and aligning these with the overarching business objective is critical to achieving the desired value for both the operator and supplier. This paper describes how the Operator developed its Outcome Based Contracting (OBC) model for Drilling and Completions Services as a fundamental lever in its Supply Chain transformation journey; highlighting the technical and commercial value realised in terms of capital efficiency and cost competitiveness both to the operator and supplier. OBC is a contracting model where the Operator pays the supplier for the outcome agreed and not the activities leading to the outcome. This approach inherently drives competitiveness as both parties partner to provide enablers in project scoping, technology and innovation as well as related supply chain strategies towards realistic and achievable outcomes. It is expected that this will contribute to the body of knowledge and adopted by other operators to improve their contracting process for maximum benefits to all parties.
