Brodit AB i Karlsborg är ett företag som tillverkar hållare för teknisk kommunikationsutrustning för montage i framförallt fordon. Den manuella tillverkningen av apparatdelen där bockning och montering sker saknade standardiserat arbetssätt, tidsunderlag, bemanningsunderlag och metod för förbättringsarbete. Syftet med examensarbetet var att ta fram ett underlag för standardiserat arbetssätt, ta fram ett tids- och bemanningsunderlag samt ta fram en metod för fortsatt förbättringsarbete. För att uppnå dessa syften skulle ett antal delmål uppnås, vilka var att erhålla en nulägesanalys genom observationer och tidsstudier, erhålla standardtider för arbetsmoment, dela upp arbetsmoment i värdeskapande-, icke värdeskapande- och nödvändigt icke värdeskapande arbete, utarbeta ett förslag till en förbättrad standard samt utarbeta en metod för fortsatt förbättringsarbete. För att underbygga metodval och slutsatser har ett antal produktionstekniska områden studerats. Utifrån den teoretiska referensramen utformades ett antal metoder för den empiriska studien. Studien har bestått av observationer enligt genchi genbutsu, gruppering av arbetsmoment, tidsstudier i form av klockstudier och SAM-analys, beräkning av standardtider, uppdelning av värdeskapande-, icke värdeskapande- och nödvändigt icke värdeskapande arbete, SMED-analys och spaghettidiagram. Resultatet av den empiriska studien blev ett tidsunderlag med beräknade standardtider för respektive arbetsmoment, där varje arbetsmoment bedömdes vara värdeskapande, icke värdeskapande eller nödvändigt icke värdeskapande. Utifrån detta kan ett bemanningsunderlag sammanställas. Sammanslagna standardtider och SAM-analysen resulterade i en cykeltid som var betydligt kortare än den som uppmättes i aktuell produktion. Även omställningstiderna var långa och framförallt oregelbundna med flertalet onödiga arbetsmoment. Resultatet av spaghettidiagrammen visar också på onödiga förflyttningar. Slutsatsen av detta är att det förekommer icke värdeskapande arbetsmoment i processen, att arbetet utförs på olika sätt vilket medför slöserier i processen samt att arbetet vid inte utförs i 100 % arbetstakt. Med ett standardiserat arbetssätt och eliminerade icke värdeskapande arbetsmoment skulle produktionen vid monteringsstationerna kunna ökas med 60 %, alternativt reducera bemanningen med två årsanställda. Om de framtagna förbättringsförslagen införs kommer cykeltiden vid bockningsstationerna att kunna minskas med över 50 % och den totala omställningstiden kommer att kunna minskas med minst 57 %. En metod för fortsatt förbättringsarbete har tagits fram som bygger på en PDCA-cykel. Med förbättrade förutsättningar i produktionen och ett standardiserat arbetssätt reduceras omställningstider och cykeltider och en kultur för ständiga förbättringar möjliggörs.

Background: In current situations with Covid-19, companies have been forced to undergo a digitization of their operations. This has meant that the employees' workstations have undergone a change from previously working in offices with their colleagues around them and with comfortable office chairs to now working remotely. How has this affected the employees and how do they experience the change? Purpose: The purpose of the study is to create a deeper understanding of how workstations have changed and what impact it has had employees' experiences.Method: The study is based on a qualitative method and used semi-structured interviews to obtain the employees' experiences. Ten interviews were conducted with two different companies to create a larger sample of respondents. Analysis: The employees feels that there is a material lack compared to before the change. Where previously in the offices had access to everything that was relevant and current to perform the work. The employees therefore experience a lack of tangible assets in the home office. The employees feel that the new work situation requires more of the individual, which has led to the employee experiencing more commitment to the work, the tasks are perceived as more meaningful, more responsibility has resulted in higher trust from companies, which has resulted in the employee taking more initiative and experiencing more fun working. The employees also experience a positivity to the more flexible way of working and positivity to the reduced distance to the office. On the other hand, the employee experiences a lack of social contact that previously existed in the employment office. Conclusion: The conclusion is that the impact of digital change on the workstation and the employee has had a positive impact, where the individual and the employee have benefited rather than been disadvantaged by the change.

Examensarbetets syfte var att ta fram underlag åt ITT Water & Wastewater för att ta beslut om frigörande av indirekt personal vid line 15:s isoleringsstation på Elmotorverkstaden. Syftets uppfyllande stöttades av de underbyggande syftena att försöka höja robotens utnyttjandegrad samt reducera isoleringsmaskinens omställningstid.
Arbetet bygger på kvalitativa och kvantitativa data i form av mätningar, intervjuer och egna observationer. Med stöd av erhållen data lyftes fyra olika förslag fram. Förslagen understryktes bland annat av integrering av arbetsmoment, förhöjd automatiseringsgrad och outsourcing.
ITT Water & Wastewater place high demands on cost-effective production which is a major contributing factor to the company enact as a world leader in its market. In order to obtain cost-effective production, the combination man robot proved to be successful.
The thesis purpose was to provide data for ITT Water & Wastewater to take decisions concerning the release of indirect staff in line 15´s isolation station at the electric motor workshop. The purpose of the implement supported by the reinforced purposes to increase the utilization of the robot and reduce the adaptation time at the isolation machine.
The work builds on qualitative and quantitative data in the shape of measurements, interviews and own observations. On the reliance of data four different suggestions were presented. The suggestions emphasized among integration of working moment, increased automation level and outsourcing.

This thesis has been put together by a student at School of Engineering in Jönköping. The thesis was executed at Spicer Nordiska Kardan AB where the purpose was to construct a new workbench. The purpose was to improve the usage of yoke shafts when testing and measuring. The report starts with a terminology following a brief description about the company and why the area is relevant. This also includes a product description of the yoke shaft and its function in the prop shafts. The prop shaft is available in different sizes and models. It is followed by the aim of the project as well as questions answered with the literature from previous courses during the education of Mechanical Engineering, web pages and scientific articles. The project has been delimited to develop a conceivable concept. The Theoretical framework answers the questions using sources concerning Ergonomics, lighting and requirement specification. The process was conducted with a pre study to investigate the area where the workbench would take place. As a method, functional analysis, concept study, Pugh’s matrix, requirement specification, market analysis and modeling were used. During the concept generation, idea generation was done using CAD-system. This would be the basis for a CAD model of the bench. Generated model was also basis for load simulation. The result is presented with answers from the functional analysis, pre study and a requirement specification that was presented during the course of the work. Pictures of the final test bench where existing components, drawings on parts that must be manufactured, pictures of products that must be ordered and an order list can be found here. The work is summarized in Discussion and Conclusions on clarification of the results, how the requirements have been met, recommendations and further work. This thesis is performed at International Automotive Components (IAC) Group located in Färgelanda, Sweden. The purpose of the work is to propose a layout of a workstation in a new production line that will be launched in autumn 2017. A layout means physical location of the components in the station. The parts produced by this production line are details of a roof shelf which is part of the interior of a Swedish leading truck manufacturer. During the project, the production line is currently being assembled and some test series is run.The work station that this thesis deals with is a welding operation of the lids before transported to a final assembly. Because the lids are manufactured in different models, the weld needs replacement of tools in order to process the current part. Different assembly tables also needs to be replaced depending on the model of the lid witch is to be manufactured. The work station needs to effectively have a flow of material, while the operators must have an ergonomically designed workplace, and that requires a carefully thought out layout. The process of preparation of this layout was done with methods of product development where concepts are generated and evaluated. The concept development process has been in consultation with the company supervisor and production. A total of six concepts were generated and they were graded and weighted in a matrix, which later led to the choosing of a basic model. After selecting the basic model were more concepts generated in a more detailed cell design. The last generated concepts were presented to the staff involved that eventually opted for a final concept when it met the requirements and preferences that were set. Part of the thesis was also to simulate the work of the operators, ensure the balancing and suggest possible improvements. The results in the report describes the final concept together with recommendations and guidelines of lean production.The actual implementation of the layout will be done by the company themselves.

Background: Office workers are workers who spend part or most of their time sitting in front of a computer. A sedentary behavior has negative effects physically, mentally and socially. These parts are also included in the concept of ergonomics, where work and the environment must be adapted to human conditions. Physiotherapy and physiotherapists look at the human conditions to facilitate health and reduce suffering. To promote health, you need to see ergonomics as a physiological phenomenon and a behavior. You do this in behavioral medicine – oriented physiotherapy, where you are able to influence the physical, mental and social context. Aim: The aim of the study was to study office workers’ experiences of obstacles and opportunities for good ergonomics in daily work. Method: A qualitative semi-structured interview study with an inductive approach and a purposive sampling with six informants. Data were analyzed by manifest analysis. Results: The informants experienced that interior design, interaction between employer and individual, the influence of others, behavior in workplace, physical limitations, thoughts and ideas, and emotions affected ergonomics. Conclusion: The results showed that ergonomics is affected by biopsychosocial factors, which are governed by behavior, individual and environment.

Kalmar Maritime Academy needed to renew the software for programmable logic controller (PLC). There are two systems that are involved, one is for controlling a steam process and the other a simulation of a cistern. Previously it has been relatively difficult for the teachers to get the students to begin with the programming because the prior system was to complex. Linnaeus University therefore decided that a change of control system for the steam system and workstation was preferable. An important task was to minimize the workstation size because the number of stations are increasing. While performing the work it became apparent that the documentation for the system needed to be updated, and to simplify the switch between PLC and regulator control. The result was a compact and easier system to use.
