Abstract During the 2009 pandemic influenza outbreak, a vaccine formulated with the oil-in-water adjuvant AS03 and 25% of the usual antigen dose was selected for administration to Canadians. Since the long-term (LT) immune response to this vaccine remains unclear, our objective is to study AS03-adjuvanted low antigen dose influenza vaccines in mice with a focus on LT immunity. The most stable adsorption and dissociation models of AsH3 and B2H6 on stepped Ge(100) surface have been determined by the local minimum total energy and/or binding energy calculations based on Hartree-Fock Theory. Because of the increasing interest in long-wavelength devices operating in the 1.1–1.55-μm wavelength region, growth techniques such as organometallic vapor-phase epitaxy (OMVPE) and chemical-beam epitaxy (CBE) are required to use toxic hydrides such as AsH3 and PH3 as the source of group V precursors. Of the two hydrides, AsH3 is more toxic, having a daily 8-h exposure limit of only 50 parts per billion, which requires the installation of elaborate safety systems prior to any growth. As a result, there have been many attempts to replace arsine with metal-organic substitutes.
