In industries like the aircraft gas turbine, trans-critical or super-critical operating speeds are quite common, and rotating machinery must be mass produced with very demanding precision in balance effectiveness, generally without recourse to high-speed balance procedures. A procedure has been developed which permits high-speed multi-plane (i.e., three or more plane) balance correction to be made on rotors in simple conventional low-speed balance machines (Patent Applied For). The procedure accomplishes most of the benefits of actual high-speed or modal or true multi-plane balancing by utilizing other known or available data on the particular rotor’s generic dynamic behavior (i.e., its natural or critical mode shapes) and data on the particular rotor’s generic design and manufacture (i.e., its perceived generic patterns of unbalance distribution). For (N) balance planes, the procedure involves the specification of a Balancing Rule wherein a sequence of (J) low speed balance steps is specified (where J equals the integer part of [(N + 7)/2]). At each of these steps, some fraction (called a Balancing Factor) of the measured two plane unbalance vectors is applied to one or two of the other balance correction planes, before final correction is made on the last two correction planes themselves. A procedure is derived to predetermine those (I) Balance Factors (where I equals [N-2]). The procedure involves an iterative sequence for computing the optimized Balance Factors, with convergence driven by the Newton Raphson procedure, and requires the specification of (I) pairs of generic unbalance distributions and natural mode shapes. The analytically derived Balancing Factors are designed to null the vibration response of the rotor excited by each of the specified generic unbalance distributions at the critical speed associated with the specified mode shape with which the generic unbalance distribution is paired.

The software defined networking (SDN) paradigm separates the control plane from the data plane, where an SDN controller receives requests from its connected switches and manages the operation of the switches under its control. Reassignments between switches and their controllers are performed dynamically, in order to balance the load over SDN controllers. In order to perform load balancing, most dynamic assignment solutions use a central element to gather information requests for reassignment of switches. Increasing the number of controllers causes a scalability problem, when one super controller is used for all controllers and gathers information from all switches. In a large network, the distances between the controllers is sometimes a constraint for assigning them switches. In this paper, a new approach is presented to solve the well-known load balancing problem in the SDN control plane. This approach implies less load on the central element and meeting the maximum distance constraint allowed between controllers. An architecture with two levels of load balancing is defined. At the top level, the main component called Super Controller, arranges the controllers in clusters, so that there is a balance between the loads of the clusters. At the bottom level, in each cluster there is a dedicated controller called Master Controller, which performs a reassignment of the switches in order to balance the loads between the controllers. We provide a two-phase algorithm, called Dynamic Controllers Clustering algorithm, for the top level of load balancing operation. The load balancing operation takes place at regular intervals. The length of the cycle in which the operation is performed can be shorter, since the top-level operation can run independently of the bottom level operation. Shortening cycle time allows for more accurate results of load balancing. Theoretical analysis demonstrates that our algorithm provides a near-optimal solution. Simulation results show that our dynamic clustering improves fixed clustering by a multiplicative factor of 5.

This article presents an analysis of several aspects of one- and two-plane automatic balancing devices of rigid rotors. The effect of partial compensation of unbalance and the decreasing of vibrations in the region beyond the first critical speed is studied analytically and confirmed by the results of computer simulations. The possibility of partial unbalance compensation is very important considering application of autobalancing devices to rotors with a large polar moment of inertia.Among the most important practical applications of devices are centrifuges, hand power tools, washing machines, and optical disk drives.

Present paper is dealing with the adaptive static balancing of robot or other mechatronic arms that are rocking in vertical plane and whose static loads are variable, by using counterweights and springs. Some simple passive and approximate solutions are proposed, and an example is shown. The results show that a very simple passive solution which is using for gravity compensation a simple translational counterweight (that could be for example the actuating motor itself) articulated by one single bar leads to very good results in case of approximate balancing when the payload has a known variation.

Short-term voltage instability has a sensational effect once it occurs with massive loss of load, possibly area instability, and voltage collapse. This paper analyzes the short-term voltage instability caused by induction motor from the viewpoint of active and reactive power joint balancing. The analysis method is based on (1) the reactive power balancing between system supply and induction motor demand, and (2) the active power balancing between air-gap power and mechanical power, which is expressed by the region of rotor acceleration and deceleration in the Q-V plane. With the region of rotor acceleration and deceleration in the Q-V plane and the reactive power balancing, the movement direction of the operating point can be visually observed in the Q-V plane, thereby achieving a clear comprehension of physical properties behind the short-term voltage instability phenomenon. Furthermore, the instability mechanisms of two kinds of grid-connected induction motor operation conditions after a large disturbance are discussed to explain the basic theory of the analysis method and to provide examples of its application. Time-domain simulations are presented for a single-load infinite-bus system to validate the analyses.

In the dynamic balancing procedure of the rotor system, the unbalance is determined as a principal parameter which should be identified firstly. In actual engineering, the interference of external noise on the rotor is usually the main factor influencing the identification. In this paper, we focus on the unbalance identification of the power turbine rotor while the vibration response is influenced by signal interference during the balancing process in actual engineering. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and wavelet transform are used to analyze the collected original signal. Butterworth filter and Chebyshev type I filter are employed to test signal processing. The transient dynamic balancing method and the single plane influence coefficient method are used to balance the three balancing bosses of the rotor, and the balance efficiency is compared. The results show that, the signal fluctuation of boss 3 in high-frequency band is less than boss 1 and boss 2. Butterworth filter is more effective than Chebyshev type I filter in filtering the transient response data. The transient dynamic balancing method requires one test run without any trial-weights. More importantly, compared with the influence coefficient method, the transient dynamic balancing method has a better balancing effect.

Precision balancing any given rotor for smooth running at one or more fixed speeds requires that unbalance-originated deflections and/or forces be measured. When the rotor is balanced in situ, the standard procedure is to conduct trial runs to obtain all of the requisite information. These include at least one run with the rotor in its uncorrected state and then, for each balancing plane on the rotor, at least one run with a trial balance mass fitted to that plane. Synchronous components of deflection and/or force may be measured at numerous transducers on the machine. If the machine has B short bearings, then at any one rotor speed, the dimension of the space spanned by all of the complex vectors of synchronous stator response from the trial runs should be (at most) B. In practice, the dimension of that space is very often larger. This paper firstly demonstrates how minimal adjustments can be applied to the (complex) measured synchronous stator vibration vectors to force those vectors into a space of dimension B. Standard least-square methods can then be applied to discover a suitable set of unbalance corrections. The paper shows that in virtually all cases where the noise is high, applying this procedure of projecting the data from a given rotational speed into a space of appropriate dimension before computing the least-squares calculation is beneficial. Reductions in the balancing cost function (the scalar quantity minimized by the least squares calculation) by factors of 2 to 4 are typically obtained for realistic levels of measurement noise. At very low levels of noise, the procedure is neither beneficial nor harmful. There is a strong argument that it should always be applied.

Load Balancing (LB) is one of the most important tasks required to maximize network performance, scalability and robustness. Nowadays, with the emergence of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), LB for SDN has become a very important issue. SDN decouples the control plane from the data forwarding plane to implement centralized control of the whole network. LB assigns the network traffic to the resources in such a way that no one resource is overloaded and therefore the overall performance is maximized. The Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm has been recognized to be effective for LB of SDN among several existing optimization algorithms. The convergence latency and searching optimal solution are the key criteria of ACO. In this paper, a novel dynamic LB scheme that integrates genetic algorithm (GA) with ACO for further enhancing the performance of SDN is proposed. It capitalizes the merit of fast global search of GA and efficient search of an optimal solution of ACO. Computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme substantially improves the Round Robin and ACO algorithm in terms of the rate of searching optimal path, round trip time, and packet loss rate.

This paper reports the theoretically investigated aerodynamic imbalance of the propeller blade, as well as correcting masses for balancing it. It has been established that the aerodynamic forces acting on the propeller blade can be balanced by the adjustment of masses. This is also true for the case of compressed air (gas) provided that the blades are streamlined by laminar flow. That makes it possible to use rotor balancing methods to study the aerodynamic forces acting on the propeller blade. The rotating blade mainly generates torque aerodynamic imbalance due to a lift force. A much smaller static component of the aerodynamic imbalance is formed by the drag force acting on the blade. The correcting mass located in the propeller plane balances both static and torque components of the aerodynamic imbalance in its correction plane. A second correcting mass (for example, on the electric motor shank) balances the torque component of aerodynamic imbalance in its correction plane. The calculations are simplified under the assumption that the equilibrium of aerodynamic forces is perpendicular to the chord of the blade. For approximate calculations, one can use information about the approximate location of the pressure center. The aerodynamic forces acting on the blade can be determined on the basis of the correcting masses that balance them. The accuracy in determining the aerodynamic forces could be improved by measuring a lift force. The computational experiment has confirmed the theoretical results formulated above. The experiment further proves the possibility of applying the devised theory for propellers whose rotation speed changes with a change in the angles of blade installation. The findings reported here could be used both for devising methods of propeller balancing and for constructing methods to study the aerodynamic forces acting on the blade.

This thesis deals with balancing of rotary machines in one plane. It is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part is deals with the basics of vibrostatics and operational balancing, with emphasis on the evaluation of machine vibration. The practical part deals with SW solution in Matlab environment. It explains the functionality of individual parts, their arrangement, connection and mutual continuity, and layout of the program. The programmed solution is tested on a series of measurements in which the balancing itself is evalated and compared with the classical method used in balancing rotary machines in one plane.

By representing genus one curves as plane quintic curves with 5 double points, we construct (up to birational equivalence) the universal elliptic curves defined over the modular curves X₁(5) and X(μ)(5) (X(μ)(5) is the modular curve parameterizing pairs (E, i : (μ)₅ → E) where E is an elliptic curve over Q). We then twist the latter by elements coming from H¹(Gal(K̅/K), (μ)₅) to construct universal families of principal homogeneous spaces for the curves E. Finally we show that every principal homogeneous space arising this way is visible in some abelian variety.

This work treats dual-plane automatic ball balancing of elastically-mounted cylindrical rotors. The application is primarily to systems with a vertically-oriented single-bearing support, but extension is also made to horizontally-oriented single-bearing support as typically found in a vehicle wheel. The rotor elastic mounting includes three translational degrees of freedom for the body geometric center and three rotational degrees of freedom. Damping is included for each of these six degrees of freedom. The model for the automatic ball balancer consists of up to two arbitrarily-located hollow circumferential races, each of which contains up to two sliding particles. The friction model for the particles includes both viscous and Coulomb friction forces. Of considerable complexity is the logic path for the individual particles being either in motion or stationary relative to the rotor. The exact equations of motion for the overall system are derived via a Newtonian approach. Numerical-integration results show that the balancer performance depends strongly on the friction levels as well as the operating speed of the body. Simulations conducted with a pure static imbalance show that ideal automatic balancing is possible only for vertical-axis rotors that have zero Coulomb friction levels between the balancing particles and the races. Simulations with a horizontal-axis statically-imbalanced rotor show that an automatic balancer can improve performance for certain operating speeds and non-zero Coulomb friction levels in the presence of gravitational forces. Simulations conducted with a pure dynamic imbalance show that there is no inherent mechanism to counteract rotational displacements of the rotor about its geometric center. As a result, the balancing particles exhibit several phenomena described in previous works such as synchronous motion and oscillatory behaviors within their respective races. Simulations for an arbitrarily located imbalance show that rotor performance can be improved using dual-plane balancing techniques for certain operating speeds and Coulomb friction levels. Due to the inherent complexity in eliminating an arbitrarily located mass imbalance, the system is generally unable to reach a perfectly balanced configuration, but performance can be improved for carefully-selected initial conditions.

A typical sensor network is conceived as being a very large collection of low-powered, homogeneous nodes that remain static post-deployment and forward sensed data to a single sink via multi-hop communication. For these types of networks there is an inherent funnelling effect whereby the nodes that can communicate directly with the sink must collectively forward the traffic of the entire network and therefore these nodes use more energy than the other nodes. This is known as the energy hole problem because after some time, these nodes deplete their batteries and leave an energy hole cutting the sink off from the network.In this thesis two new routing protocols are proposed that aim to maximise load balancing among these most critical nodes in order to maximise lifetime. They are the first fully distributed routing protocols that are designed to generate a load balanced routing tree to mitigate the energy hole problem. The results show that the better performing of the two is capable of creating a highly balanced tree at the cost of a small increase in latency.Although there have been other fully distributed protocols that aim at a similar form of load balancing, it is proven that the approach they take cannot guarantee perfect balance among the most critical nodes even in unrealistically generous scenarios. This suggests that they are not well suited to that task and the simulation results show that the novel protocols proposed in this thesis outperform the best of the alternatives.Before these protocols are proposed, the absolute reception-based blacklisting routing strategy is shown to be more energy efficient than previously thought and indeed more efficient than the strategy that has previously been considered optimal. This result is used to strongly justify the use of the unit disk graph model in simulations of sensor networks. Additionally, the relay hole problem in sensor networks is analysed for the first time.

An important part of mathematics is the construction of good definitions. Some things, like planar graphs, are trivial to define, and other concepts, like compact sets, arise from putting a name on often used requirements (although the notion of compactness has changed over time to be more general). In other cases, such as in set theory, the natural definitions may yield undesired and even contradictory results, and it can be necessary to use a more complicated formalization.    The notion of a curve falls in the latter category. While it is intuitively clear what a curve is – line segments, empty geometric shapes, and squiggles like this: – it is not immediately clear how to make a general definition of curves. Their most obvious characteristic is that they have no width, so one idea may be to view curves as what can be drawn with a thin pen. This definition, however, has the weakness that even such a line has the ability to completely fill a square, making it a bad definition of curves. Today curves are generally defined by the condition of having no width, that is, being one-dimensional, together with the conditions of being compact and connected, to avoid strange cases.    In this thesis we investigate this definition and a few examples of curves.

Au cours de ces dernières années, les réseaux se sont transformés passant d'une infrastructure à base de matériel dédié implémentant des fonctions statiques à des solutions logicielles plus flexibles. D'un côté, le SDN (Software Defined Networks) permet de contrôler les opérations de transmission, alors que de l'autre le NFV (Network Function Virtualization) crée des fonctions élastiques qui peuvent s'adapter à la demande. Jusqu'à présent, ces solutions ont été utilisées pour simplifier la gestion et l'exploitation des réseaux mais elles laissent également envisager un réseau qui peut automatiquement réagir à des événements réseaux. Dans cette thèse, nous explorons dans quelle mesure ces nouveaux réseaux logiciels peuvent être utilisés pour s'adapter à la dynamique inhérentes aux réseaux. Notre première contribution s'intéresse au chaînage de service, c'est à dire la capacité de diriger des flux de données à travers un ensemble de points intermédiaires, qui hébergent des fonctions, avant d'atteindre leur destination. Nous montrons qu'un plan de contrôle distribué, qui s'appuie sur les protocoles de routage existants et qui est constitué par des noeuds autonomes, peut dynamiquement diriger le trafic à travers des chaines de services. Notre solution adapte sa décision au trafic sur le réseau et équilibre automatiquement la charge induite sur les fonctions présentes sur le réseau. De plus, notre proposition, au contraire des solutions existantes, peut être déployée progressivement dans les réseaux actuels. Dans notre seconde contribution, nous comparons deux types de décision de chaînage : une approche centralisée avec une vue de bout en bout de la chaîne et une approche distribuée qui dirige uniquement les flux d'une fonction à l'autre. Nous montrons que ces deux décisions sont proches dans des topologies réalistes. Ainsi, un chaînage saut par saut pourrait être utilisé sans affecter les performances du réseau.Finalement, nous explorons comment les réseaux logiciels peuvent réagir à la dynamique des réseaux dans les centres de données. Jusqu'à présent, des équilibreurs de charges utilisaient des politiques statiques afin de répartir le trafic sur les serveurs, ce qui amenait du déséquilibre et gâchait des ressources. Nous proposons d'asservir le système et d'adapter dynamiquement la politique à la variation de charge des serveurs. Notre approche MPC (Model Predictive Control) est efficace afin de réduire le déséquilibre de charge à une basse fréquence de contrôle améliorant ainsi le nombre de requêtes qu'un ensemble de serveur peut traiter
During the last years, network infrastructure has moved from dedicated-hardware solutions implementing fixed functions to more flexible software based ones. On one hand, SDN (Software Defined Network) can flexibly control forwarding operations, while on the other, NFV (Network Function Virtualization) creates elastic functions that can scale with the user demands. So far, these solutions have been used to simplify network management and operations, but they let envision a network that can automatically react to network events. In this thesis, we explore to what extent these new software networks can be used to react and adapt finely to the network dynamics.Our first contribution focuses on service chaining: the ability to steer flows through a set of waypoints hosting functions before they reach their destinations. We show that a distributed control plane that relies on existing routing protocols and is constituted by autonomous nodes can dynamically steer traffic through chains of services. Our solution finely adapts its decision to the network traffic and automatically balances the induced load on the functions present in the network. Moreover, our proposal, contrary to existing solutions, can be incrementally deployed in today's network.In our second contribution, we compare two types of chaining decisions: a centralized one with an end-to-end view of the chain and a distributed approach that solely routes flow from a function to another. We show that the two decisions are close in realistic topologies. Thus, hop-by-hop chaining could be used without affecting chaining performance. Finally, we explore how software networks can react to network dynamics in datacenters. So far, load balancers use static policies to spread incoming traffic on servers, which leads to imbalance and overprovisioning. We propose to close the loop and dynamically adapt the policy to the server load variation. Our MPC (Model Predictive Control) approach proved to be efficient to reduce load imbalance at a slow pace, thus improving the number of requests a cluster can process

Анотація:
This thesis studies the static and seismic behavior of simple structures made with gabion box walls. The analysis was performed considering a one-story building with standard dimensions in plan (6m x 5m) and a lightweight timber roof. The main focus of the present investigation is to find the principals aspects of the seismic behavior of a one story building made with gabion box walls, in order to prevent a failure due to seismic actions and in this way help to reduce the seismic risk of developing countries where this natural disaster have a significant intensity. Regarding the gabion box wall, it has been performed some calculations and analysis in order to understand the static and dynamic behavior. From the static point of view, it has been performed a verification of the normal stress computing the normal stress that arrives at the base of the gabion wall and the corresponding capacity of the ground. Moreover, regarding the seismic analysis, it has been studied the in-plane and out-of-plane behavior. The most critical aspect was discovered to be the out-of-plane behavior, for which have been developed models considering the “rigid- no tension model” for masonry, finding a kinematically admissible multiplier that will create a collapse mechanism for the structure. Furthermore, it has been performed a FEM and DEM models to find the maximum displacement at the center of the wall, maximum tension stresses needed for calculating the steel connectors for joining consecutive gabions and the dimensions (length of the wall and distance between orthogonal walls or buttresses) of a geometrical configuration for the standard modulus of the structure, in order to ensure an adequate safety margin for earthquakes with a PGA around 0.4-0.5g. Using the results obtained before, it has been created some rules of thumb, that have to be satisfy in order to ensure a good behavior of these structure.

The high prevalence of poorly controlled asthma and the associated high morbimortality have been shown to be related mainly to under-diagnosis and inadequate treatment of this condition. This present significant cost adding further burden on the healthcare budget The consequences of poorly controlled asthma are repeated clinic visits repeated emergency room admissions and repeated hospital admissions In extreme but numerous occasions asthma attacks resulting from poor management lead to deaths Therefore it had been stated that a key component of many asthma management guidelines is the recommendation for patient education and regular medical review These (patient education and regular medication/medical reviews) are primary areas for the pharmacist to make an impact Objective To describe and to analyze the influence of a Pharmaceutical Care (PC) service in the clinical and humanistic outcomes through the pharmacotherapeutic follow-up (PF) of a group of asthmatic patients attending an ambulatory care facility by hospital referral in the State of the Cearà Methods Thirty patients participated of this longitudinal prospective and descriptive study in the period from August 2006 to May 2007 Instruments used to collect information from patients were an asthma-specific quality of life questionnaire (The Brazilian version of the Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire AQLQ) daily records of symptoms of the asthma and a questionnaire to assess satisfaction with Pharmaceutical Care services The PF and the classification of drug related problems (DPR) followed Cipolle et al criteria (2004) and adopted a systematic PWDT (Pharmacistâs Work up of Drug Therapy) approach in identifying and resolving DPR Results The majority of patients were females (80%) 10% completed primary school level only mean age was 46  x 11 9 30% were on married social pension and with income of two minimum salaries Patients used an average of two inhaled medications (corticosteroids and bronchodilator) /day and more than 50% of patients did not use their inhaler medication devices correctly Sixty four DPR were identified, of which 31 25% were related to poor compliance with drug therapy After the provision of Pharmaceutical Care and through following a PWDT strategy 66 6% of the patients did not report nocturnal symptoms of asthma and did not have to use short-acting bronchodilator for asthma symptoms By the conclusion of the study a significant improvement (p< 0 05) was observed in the four domains of the AQLQ In the questionnaire assessing satisfaction with the Pharmaceutical Care services a superior index of 95% was observed in all its domains Conclusion The improvement seen in all aspect of the outcomes measured including clinical and humanistic outcomes after the provision of PC has provided evidence for the role of the pharmacist in asthma management using a structured approach to educate the patient about the pharmacotherapy regimen address compliance issues and making drug therapy interventions that lead to rationalizing therapy and minimizing DPR

A one-dimensional analytical model of dark current has been developed to facilitate the investigation and analysis of dark current from gate-controlled photovoltaic InSb arrays. The applied gate voltage is an essential parameter in the model. The expressions relating this parameter to surface potential are derived separately for the cases of accumulation and depletion at the surface of n-type InSb material under the gate. In addition, the measured dark current is compared with that from the analytical model, and the discrepancy is discussed in terms of the intrinsic carrier concentration, surface recombination velocity, and geometry of the array. The components of dark current are mainly associated with surface state generation-recombination, field induced tunneling, and the depletion region from the bulk and surface. The experimental results are obtained at temperatures between 30K and 40K.

When rotor balancing is performed in the field, minimum trial weight runs would significantly reduce the downtime in power generation and oil-gas industries. Typically two trial weight runs would be required in order to obtain both static and couple influence coefficients. The current paper demonstrates how both static and couple influence coefficients can be evaluated with high accuracy through merely one trial weight run on symmetric rotors. It is shown through real cases that, for symmetric rotors such as double-flow low-pressure (LP) turbine and generator rotors, cross effects between static weights (placed in-phase at two ends) and couple response (the same vibration amplitude but 180 degrees out-of-phase at two ends) are minimal and can be neglected. The same holds true for coupled weights (placed 180 degrees out-of-phase at two ends) and static response (the same vibration amplitude inphase at two ends). Real cases show that static and couple influence coefficients for symmetric rotors obtained from the one trial weight run are very close to the true values from the two trial weight runs or the classical static/couple approach. From the calculated static and couple influence data through one trial weight run, final balance weights for reducing static or couple response only or their combination can be determined successfully.

When balancing a generator rotor in the field, one often assumes that two balance planes at the drive end (DE) and non-driven end (NDE) fan rings would be sufficient to bring 1X vibration down. This paper, however, presents a case where a third balance plane must be utilized in order to reduce 1X vibration level below the alarm limit. Though this type of generator with rated speed of 3600 rpm appears to run just above the second couple mode from Bode and polar plots, couple weights (same weights placed at both DE and NDE with 180-degree out-of phase) have little effect on 1X vibration response. For vibration vectors at DE and NDE bearings presenting certain relative phase, it became impossible to further reduce vibration level at both ends from weights at DE and NDE fan ring planes only as indicated in obtained influence data. A third balance plane at the exciter end was attempted to change their relative phase, which proved to be successful. From the exciter end weights combined with the NDE fan ring weights, the generator rotor was balanced successfully. The purpose of this paper is to show in some cases ineffectiveness of couple weights to couple (pivotal mode) response and success of field balancing with a third balance plane on a generator rotor.

This paper demonstrates analytical relationship of influence coefficients between static-couple and multi-plane methods on two-plane balancing as well as its application. For the static-couple approach, cross effects are defined between static weights and couple response as well as between couple weights and static response, thus making it possible to offset both static and couple vibration vectors effectively with appropriate combination of static and couple weights. Relationship of influence coefficients between static/couple and individual probe due to static/couple weights is also given. Static, couple, or individual probe influence coefficients due to static or couple weights can be obtained directly without having to place static or couple trial weights if influence coefficients used in the multi-plane approach are known. From static and couple influence data as well as cross effects, influence data for the multi-plane approach can be obtained directly as well without having to place any trial weights at either plane. The above findings and conversion equations are obtained analytically, and verified by experimental results. Conversion of influence coefficients from multi-plane to static-couple format can determine whether static or couple weights are more effective as well as running vibration modes, while conversion from static-couple to multi-plane format can determine which balance plane is more effective.

Abstract In this work, the role of swing limb dynamics in the stabilization of legged systems is investigated. To quantify the contribution of arm swing during whole-body balancing, the balancing capability of a bipedal robotic platform is evaluated computationally during single and double foot contact for two configurations: arms fixed and arms free to move. The balancing capability with each arm configuration is evaluated by constructing its corresponding balance stability boundary, a threshold between balanced and falling states that includes all possible center of mass (COM) states that are balanced with respect to the specified arm and foot contact configuration. In this analysis, the bipedal robotic platform is modeled as a kinematic tree structure with floating-base dynamics in the sagittal plane. In addition to floating-base and joint-space dynamics, the complete COM-space dynamics of the system is established, including the formulation of the angular momentum (and its rate) of each rigid link, as well as a model of actuation dynamics based on motor characteristics. The comparison of the two balance stability regions yields both a quantitative measure of the enhancement in total balance capability and qualitative insights into the mechanism by which arm swing leads to enhanced capability. The role of arm swing angular momentum is also analyzed from the robot’s experimental gait trajectories as a potential means of benchmarking controller performance.

This will be challenging. Ideally, a river governance plan developed by the students would support local agriculture, increase flood resilience, and promote environmental stewardship. A role-playing exercise is included in this case that involves representatives of several stakeholders groups (personas assumed by a subset of students); these include a farmer, a fisher/recreationalist, a state river manager, an environmentalist, and a resident. The students will learn about the goals of a stakeholder to discuss with the others, negotiate with them, find ways to resolve conflicts and finally to create a governance plan.

The article investigates functional techniques of extralinguistic expression in multimedia texts; the effectiveness of figurative expressions as a reaction to modern events in Ukraine and their influence on the formation of public opinion is shown. Publications of journalists, broadcasts of media resonators, experts, public figures, politicians, readers are analyzed. The language of the media plays a key role in shaping the worldview of the young political elite in the first place. The essence of each statement is a focused thought that reacts to events in the world or in one’s own country. The most popular platform for mass information and social interaction is, first of all, network journalism, which is characterized by mobility and unlimited time and space. Authors have complete freedom to express their views in direct language, including their own word formation. Phonetic, lexical, phraseological and stylistic means of speech create expression of the text. A figurative word, a good aphorism or proverb, a paraphrased expression, etc. enhance the effectiveness of a multimedia text. This is especially important for headlines that simultaneously inform and influence the views of millions of readers. Given the wide range of issues raised by the Internet as a medium, research in this area is interdisciplinary. The science of information, combining language and social communication, is at the forefront of global interactions. The Internet is an effective source of knowledge and a forum for free thought. Nonlinear texts (hypertexts) – «branching texts or texts that perform actions on request», multimedia texts change the principles of information collection, storage and dissemination, involving billions of readers in the discussion of global issues. Mastering the word is not an easy task if the author of the publication is not well-read, is not deep in the topic, does not know the psychology of the audience for which he writes. Therefore, the study of media broadcasting is an important component of the professional training of future journalists. The functions of the language of the media require the authors to make the right statements and convincing arguments in the text. Journalism education is not only knowledge of imperative and dispositive norms, but also apodictic ones. In practice, this means that there are rules in media creativity that are based on logical necessity. Apodicticity is the first sign of impressive language on the platform of print or electronic media. Social expression is a combination of creative abilities and linguistic competencies that a journalist realizes in his activity. Creative self-expression is realized in a set of many important factors in the media: the choice of topic, convincing arguments, logical presentation of ideas and deep philological education. Linguistic art, in contrast to painting, music, sculpture, accumulates all visual, auditory, tactile and empathic sensations in a universal sign – the word. The choice of the word for the reproduction of sensory and semantic meanings, its competent use in the appropriate context distinguishes the journalist-intellectual from other participants in forums, round tables, analytical or entertainment programs. Expressive speech in the media is a product of the intellect (ability to think) of all those who write on socio-political or economic topics. In the same plane with him – intelligence (awareness, prudence), the first sign of which (according to Ivan Ogienko) is a good knowledge of the language. Intellectual language is an important means of organizing a journalistic text. It, on the one hand, logically conveys the author’s thoughts, and on the other – encourages the reader to reflect and comprehend what is read. The richness of language is accumulated through continuous self-education and interesting communication. Studies of social expression as an important factor influencing the formation of public consciousness should open up new facets of rational and emotional media broadcasting; to trace physical and psychological reactions to communicative mimicry in the media. Speech mimicry as one of the methods of disguise is increasingly becoming a dangerous factor in manipulating the media. Mimicry is an unprincipled adaptation to the surrounding social conditions; one of the most famous examples of an animal characterized by mimicry (change of protective color and shape) is a chameleon. In a figurative sense, chameleons are called adaptive journalists. Observations show that mimicry in politics is to some extent a kind of game that, like every game, is always conditional and artificial.
