Subduction related Miocene porphyry type deposits are found in the east-west trending Chagai magmatic belt (CMB) in Pakistan's western margin, Balochistan. This arc exists on the west segment of the Tethyan metallogenic belt in the south-west of Pakistan. Tethyan metallogenic belt is widely spread over 12,000 km from east to west direction from Indochina, Tibet, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Alpine mountain range in Europe. During the last thirty to forty years several porphyry deposits have been reported in the Chagai magmatic arc, including the very large Reko Diq H14-H15, large Saindak, Tanjee

The Koh-e-Sultan volcano occurs in the western part of Chagai magmatic arc, situated in north-western part of Balochistan, Pakistan. The Koh-e-Sultan volcano stretches in a 770 km2 area and is mainly represented by andesitic to dacitic lava flows and volcanoclastic sediments including agglomerate, tuffs, pumice, volcanic conglomerate, breccia and pyroclastic flows. The last explosive activity of this volcano is represented by pumice deposits of 0.09 million years old, mostly found towards west and southwest of Koh-e-Sultan volcano. The petrological study of various samples collected reveals th

The Chagai porphyry copper belt is a major component of the Tethyan metallogenic domain, which spans approximately 300 km and hosts several giant porphyry copper deposits. The tectonic setting, whether subduction-related or post-collisional, and the deep dynamic processes governing the formation of these giant deposits remain poorly understood. Mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs), mafic dikes, and multiple porphyries have been documented in the Saindak mining area. This work examines both the ore-rich and non-ore intrusions in the Saindak porphyry Cu-Au deposit, using methods like molybdenite

Abstract Discovery of the Siah Diq porphyry (Cu–Au) prospect in the foothill of Dam Koh volcano is a recent exploration success story of mineralization buried under a 46 m alluvium cover in an exploratory mature Chagai belt. Acquisition of geophysical data followed by drilling and logging was key in the discovery. Integrated magnetics and induced polarization (IP) surveys in an area of 7.5 km2, pointed out magnetic-low, IP-high, and resistivity-low anomalies corresponding to porphyry Cu–Au type sulfide mineralization. Three bore holes were drilled to test the geophysical anomalies. After caref

The purpose of this review is to shed light on copper deposits found in different regions of Pakistan. The geological attributes of copper deposits have been considered with their tectonic context. The porphyry copper deposits can be traced in Pakistan from the north through Kohistan Island Arc (KIA) up to the south to Chaghi Magmatic Arc (CMA). These deposits are mainly found in and around the Late Tertiary–Early Tertiary Himalayan Belt, Kohistan magmatic arc, Karakorum Block Foreland fold and thrust belt, Ophiolite Thrust belt, Suture zone and Chaghi Magmatic Arc. These deposits in Pakistan
