This bachelor thesis work at MAU (Malmoe University) was carried out in Sweden at Company X. Company X is a Swedish IT company that provide SaaS (Software as a Service) as e-commerce solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses. The purpose of this project is to analyse the current design process of Company X with the aim of improving the communication between front-end developer and client by providing them with a tangible tool in order to align the front-end developer with the expectations of the clients. The two methods that was used to collect data was individual semi-structured interviews and an online co-creation session which were analysed through grounded theory. The analyzations of the results of this thesis clarified that miscommunication occurs depending on several factors which causes different issues. The conclusions of this thesis are that data that is highly abstract is understood differently by different social worlds, resulting in issues within the communication between front-end developer and client as well as limiting the front-end developments contribution to appearance which causes the organisation to exclude the opportunity of business success. Due to data getting altered when going through several actors before reaching the front-end developer, it was argued that miscommunication occur throughout the design process of Company X. The issues within the occurring communication affects the design projects outcome negatively. Subsequently, it was argued that the current design process of Company X is in need of a portfolio containing visual explanations since a portfolio is a simple tool to use in order to make a viewer understand which would potentially decrease the levels of miscommunication as well as aligning the front-end developers with the expectations of the client.

Aim:

The purpose of this study is to explore the Vietnamese market for Electronic Road Tolls. Company X is a world wide supplier of electronic toll systems. They are focusing on systems that will reduce traffic congestion in cities or congestion created by road charge toll systems. Company X has been active in the South East Asia for over 10 years. Now they want to explore new markets in this region. The company is interested in developing countries where road infrastructure is expanding. Since Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia Company X is interested in if it is a market they should enter.

 

Research questions: 

Should Company X enter the Vietnamese market?

If yes, which entry strategy should be used entering this market?

 

Method:

To analyze Company X’s internal and external environment I have used different theoretical methods, PEST analysis, Micro / Macro environmental analysis and with the SWOT framework I have summarized recommendations based on the facts I have gathered. I have also investigated different entry strategies to see what is most suitable for a Company X. I have collected data via interviews, literature and internet sources.

 

Result & Conclusions:

Short term Company X has the opportunity to come in with their products into Vietnam with a co-operation with Competitor A. They will set up a test system at one toll plaza between the airport and Hanoi with two lane dedicated for EFC and Company X is their first choice if they are competitive. This will give them the opportunity to be first on this market to implement microwave equipment in Vietnam and an opportunity to set the standard in the country for the future. 

Suggestions for future research:

The empirical data in this thesis is mainly gathered from secondary sources. The information would have been more accurate with more primary data.

 

Contribution of the thesis:

This thesis shows that large investments in road infrastructure are coming up in Vietnam. This thesis also shows that currently there is low activity from competitors using the same technology and this was not previously known by Company X.

Today, neither employees nor employers seem to take for granted that a person will stay with the same firm until retirement. Yet, keeping employees for longer periods is an impor-tant challenge for firms. One industry where retention is interesting is the auditing industry in Sweden, this because certain requirements are needed to become an auditor. Firstly, the employee needs to have a Swedish university degree, including specific courses within au-diting/accounting. Furthermore, the person needs practical experience for a specific period of time. Due to these statements the challenge of retaining and motivating valuable em-ployees is crucial for the auditing firms, which is why we have chosen to do a case study at Auditing Company X to see how they work with employee retention. We have compared the findings to our chosen theory, which consist of four categories: the hiring process, in-ternal labor market and career, motivation and performance, and finally culture and leader-ship. These four categories are initially based on Leigh Branham‟s book: „Keeping the people who keep you in business: 24 ways to hang on to your most valuable talent‟ (Bran-ham, 2001).

In our conducted case study, at Auditing Company X, we have been able to conclude that the firm‟s retention practices are to a great extend in line with the theoretical framework. There are some areas that need further attention from the company, such as an individua-lized reward system and communication between managers and employees. Even though there are some parts to work on the most important aspects of retention, such as having a holistic and long-term orientation, Auditing Company X seems to have incorporated this into their practices successfully.

In a market where the customers demand and want reliability, there seems to be no one able to meet these demands fully. It is fairly common that customers leave due to insecurities linked with deliveries. This thesis sets out to identify and discuss the factors related to the ability to provide accurate deliveries and how they relate to the company’s current structure. Due to the lack of organization and structure of the entire sales process, the employees are forced to apply a kind of improvisation, by taking on problems as they arrive without working proactively to prevent these from ever happening again. Through an in-depth study of the company and their delivery rates, with the help of information collected in interviews, an organizational map was created, which enabled a better understanding of how things should be executed. In addition, a state-of-the-art study was conducted and linked to the current situation at Company X to further increase the theoretical knowledge and to corroborate with the changes necessary for the company to avoid unnecessary costs and work. The main findings suggest that Company X must oversee its production processes and how each department handles problems, since the workload is uneven and incorrectly distributed over each department. Company X should also consider alternative transportation methods for deliveries of greater importance. By setting clear boundaries of a department’s obligations and developing standards, in addition to increasing the communication, it will be possible to provide the customer with a satisfactory service and more accurate delivery times.

De viktigaste resultaten tyder på att Company X måste överse sina produktionsprocesser och se över hur varje avdelning hanterar problem, eftersom arbetsbelastningen är ojämn och felaktigt fördelad över varje avdelning. Company X bör också överväga alternativa transportmetoder för leveranser av större betydelse. Project management has become a natural way of conducting activities in companies.  The goal is continuous improvement in project performance.  The way knowledge is managed in the company is crucial for gaining competitive advantage.  Knowledge management and learning, has been recognized by academics and practitioners as important to achieving success and improvement in projects.

 

Achieving continuous improvement is considered a difficult task.  The difficulty lies in capturing and storing the knowledge and learning from one individual to another and from one project to another.  In this study the researcher has reviewed the mechanisms and processes from recent research which are supposed to facilitate knowledge transfer and learning.  Nevertheless, the academic and practitioner researchers do not seem to have a common ground on how to facilitate knowledge transfer and learning, even though there are many mechanisms and processes suggested.  Their results are not concurrent in effective and efficient facilitation of knowledge and learning.

The researcher has conducted a qualitative case study through seven interviews.  The empirical study was done in a Company X which provides air traffic services.  It shows that some of the practices institutionalized by Case Company X are different from what the literature suggests.  Moreover, the environment wherein these mechanisms and processes co-exist is particular from what the literature suggests.  A learning landscape of Case Company X is identified based on the empirical data.  Recommendations and suggestions are provided in the end to increase knowledge transfer and improve learning in and between projects at Case Company X.

In communication and marketing there have been a shift from a transaction focus with emphasis on persuasion to a relationship focus referred to as a two-way communication with increased interactivity. Traditional companies are challenged to understand how their business can take advantage and adapt to the digital changes and opportunities when it comes to communication and building relationships and gain the ability to anticipate and deliver what customers expect them to. B2B companies have a slower adaption to digital media and digital changes compared to B2C companies and when it comes to digital channels there is many opportunities to discover. B2B companies still feel dependent on traditional communication when it comes to building relationships but the digital trend pressure companies to get involved and keep up digitally. The constantly expanding digital landscape force B2B companies to find a way to utilize digital platforms and channels in order to create strong digital relationships with retailer and audience The purpose of this study is to investigate and gain an understanding how B2B wholesalers communicate and build digital relationships with retailers. A qualitative method is used featuring a single-case study with Company X a B2B firm operating in the wholesale trade business as a producer and a wholesaler. Data used in the study is collected from semi-structured interviews with employees from the sales and marketing department. Digital marketing is one of the most emerging tools within communication, that B2B businesses not yet use to its full potential but are eager to discover the opportunities and advantages B2C companies adapted for a long time. B2B businesses use digital tools to support and strengthen the communication and relationship with retailers however findings reveal traditional tools is still the prefered communication method in B2B. Our findings suggest how there are still qualities lacking in digital communication that can only be achieved through traditional communication with psychical meetings. Empirical suggestion on how a B2B company can adopt techniques from B2C and apply it in a B2B context.

In recent years, customers demand for new products has increased in line with a rapid technological change. This has put pressure on industrial companies regarding New Product Development (NPD) in order to continuously develop and produce products at or above the customers’ expectations. Furthermore, products need to be profitable throughout the whole product lifecycle.In order to consider the whole product lifecycle in NPD, inputs with information, as well as, involvement from/of downstream functions are considered as two critical factors to ensure that profitable products are developed. Information from other functions with a wide range of perspectives, knowledge and experiences from previous products are vital.This thesis uses the above mentioned notion while examining a large multinational company, Company X. Product Development in the Company X Group follows the Gateway process which was released group-wide in 2009. This process consists of gateways which cannot be passed if not all requirements are satisfied in each step. This ensures that all areas are covered and that products are developed in an effective matter.Interviews, observations and archive analysis are methods utilized to define the current state at CXDY. The current workways and processes are compared to the outspoken ones by the company. Also, the workways and processes are compared to the theory of project management, product development, Design for X methodology and management of knowledge. In the analysis, gaps are identified and the authors present their solutions to improve the NPD process at the Company XThe major findings in the proposed solution were a new approach of the Gateway process that; takes the Internal Customer into consideration, has clear definitions of roles and responsibilities and has a cross-functional team that represent the Internal Customer in order to encourage concurrent engineering.Due to confidentiality reasons some parts of this report are hidden.Keywords: New product development, Project management, Product Lifecycle, Concurrent engineering, Design for X, Management of knowledge.
Under senare år har kundernas efterfrågan på nya produkter ökat i takt med en snabb teknologisk utveckling. Detta har ställt krav på tillverkande företag att fokusera på produktutvecklingprojekt för att kontinuerligt leverera produkter som uppnår eller överträffar kunders förväntningar. Vidare måste produkterna vara lönsamma genom hela produktlivscykeln.För att kunna beakta hela produktlivscykeln i produktutvecklingsprojekt anses input med information och involvering från/av nedströmsfunktioner vara två kritiska faktorer för att säkerställa att lönsamma produkter utvecklas. I detta är informationen från andra funktioner med olika perspektiv, kunskaper och erfarenheter från tidigare produkter avgörande.Denna avhandling behandlar ovanstående tankar när ett stort multinationellt företag, Företag X. Produktutveckling i Företag X-koncernen följer Gateway-processen som släpptes på grupp-nivå under 2009. Denna process består av Gateways som inte kan godkännas om inte alla krav är uppfyllda i varje steg. Detta säkerställer att alla områden har behandlats och att produkter utvecklas effektivt.Intervjuer, observationer och arkivanalys är metoder som applicerats för att definiera det aktuella läget vid CXDY. De nuvarande arbetssätten och processerna jämförs med företagets uttalade. Threat modeling is a growing field in cyber security. As computer systems grow larger and more complicated, the understanding of how to model and protect these systems becomes ever more important. Threat modeling is a method well suited for this task. The two primary motivations behind this research is to strengthen the cyber security at Company X and help the development of threat modeling, which in turn can help strengthen the field of cyber security. The main question that is investigated is what results can be achieved from the KTH Threat Modeling Method applied to specific systems used by Company X. This question is answered by implementing the method on the specified systems. The experience and the result of the implementation of the model are then used to evaluate the threat model method. The produced model implies that the biggest risk in the investigated systems are the Connected Smoke Sensor and the Smart Meter which measures water and electricity usage. Some of the given recommendations are to create protections against SQL-injection by keeping the systems up to date and to validate input. The main impression from implementing the threat model method on Company X is that the method is easy to use, learn and to understand. Another result was that the more information one has about the systems used in the IT-infrastructure being investigated, the more precise the threat model can become. The method is ideally used with focus on pure, interconnected software implementations, rather than modeling several non-connected systems in a single iteration of the method, which is what this report does. In order to teach and spread the method easier, a comprehensive written source such as a book could be utilized. To improve the method itself, the inclusion of automated attack simulation and modeling tools is suggested. Lastly, the KTH Threat Modeling Method is an iterative process, which can and should be improved by continuously iterating over the model going more in depth by every step. The body of work presented in this report is a first iteration of this ongoing process. The findings of this report point to the fact that while the KTH threat modeling method is already a mature method fully able to produce meaningful threat modeling results, there are still aspects that could be improved or added which would increase the overall strength of the method.
Hotmodellering är ett växande område inom cybersäkerhet. När datorsystem växer och blir mer komplicerade, så blir kunskapen om hur man modellerar och skyddar systemen allt viktigare. Hotmodellering är ett verktyg väl anpassat till denna uppgift. I den här rapporten ligger fokuset på att höja cybersäkerheten på Företag X och att bidra till utvecklingen av hotmodellering, vilket i sig bidrar till att stärka forskningen kring cybersäkerhet. Den huvudsakliga frågan som undersöks är vilka resultat som kan uppnås med en implementation av KTH Threat Modeling Method på specifika system hos Företag X. Frågan besvaras genom att implementera metoden på de specificerade systemen. Därefter används erfarenheten av utvecklingen och det framtagna resultatet till att evaluera hotmodellerings metoden. Den framtagna modellen pekar på att den största risken i de undersökta systemen hos Företag X är deras internetanslutna rökdetektorer och smarta mätare som mäter vatten- och elförbrukning. De rekommendationer som ges är bland annat att skydda sig mot SQL-injektionerna genom att hålla systemen uppdaterade och att validera indata. De huvudsakliga intrycken som erhölls från att implementera hotmodelleringsmetoden på Företag X är att metoden är lätt att använda, lära sig, och förstå. Ett annat resultat är att ju mer information hotmodelleraren har kring systemen som utforskas, desto mer exakt kan hotmodellen bli. Metoden är idealiskt lämpad för renodlad, sammansluten mjukvara, snarare än att modellera flera icke-sammanslutna system i en och samma iteration av metoden, vilket är vad denna rapport gör. För att förenkla utlärningsprocessen av metoden så kan en omfattande skriven resurs som exempelvis en bok vara till god hjälp. För att förbättra själva metoden föreslås integration av automatiserade attacksimulerings- och modelleringsverktyg. The KTH Threat Modeling Method är en iterativ process. Modellen kan och bör göras bättre genom att kontinuerligt iterera över arbetet flera gånger, där modellens detaljrikhet ökas för varje iteration. Det som presenteras i denna rapport är första iterationen av denna process. Innebörden av resultaten från denna rapport visar att även om hotmodelleringsmetoden redan är en mogen metod som kan producera meningsfulla hotmodelleringsresultat, finns det fortfarande vissa bitar som kan förbättras eller läggas till, vilket enligt författarna skulle öka metodens styrka i allmänhet.

One of the components of customer focus in a company is voice of the customer (VOC). Companies use the VOC for guiding them in producing products and services that help meet customer needs.  There exists numerous VOC methods from literature for collecting VOC data, and it often recommends using multiple VOC methods to obtain better insight into consumer use, needs and problems.   In addition, the literature recommends companies to have a unified data collection process to effectively collect, integrate and understand the VOC. In this explorative case study, the authors investigate the VOC methods used by Company X and how VOC data collected from various methods are aggregated and employed at Company X.  Company X is a large bus manufacturing company with a global presence and annual revenue of 3.1 billion USD. The study intends to understand if the academic recommendations reflect VOC practices at Company X. The results from the study find that the criterion for choosing VOC methods at Company X is determined by the complexity of methods.  Elaborate methods, such as focus groups and ethnography that help in complementing more commonly used methods, such as interviews and questionnaires, to capture necessary customer information, are not preferred due to being time and resource intensive.   Furthermore the need for a structured process to aggregate VOC data from different sources is felt across the organization at Company X.  However, the high cost of implementing a VOC process, resource constraints and un-evident benefits of a structured VOC process are found to be the main reasons that work against implementation of a structured process.

The purpose of this article is to identify how Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) affects the business strategy for Taiwan Internet Service Provider, using X Company as an example. With the change in technology, the world’s business environment change from day to day. The break though development such as Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network, create a whole new era of communication. With the pressure coming from both the fixed network carrier (Type 1 telecommunications enterprises) and the existing Internet service provider competitors. X Company needs to find a new market niche to maintain its competition. Strategy becomes most important when the existing business model is coming into a mature stage. A partnership with other service carriers or an innovation within the same business filed becomes the crucial decision. Through X Company’s internal data, this thesis will analyzed the strength and weakness compare to its current competitors. With the data from the customer survey, X Company can also identify the need of its customers. At the end, this thesis will prove X Company’s trend toward IP VPN transformations is the right strategy. As data traffic expected to outgrow voice traffic in the coming year, X Company’s transformation to IP-based Virtual Private Networks is the right strategy. IP VPN setup will be the trend of increasing dependence on the corporate network as a way of interconnecting users with enterprise software, business process, databases, and intellectual capital. Companies are transferring more enterprise applications between sites, as well as data replication and transfer. But enterprises are aiming at the same time to combine the effectiveness of information sharing with the network with the need to make sure security, manageability, functionality and privacy while being paying attention on cost control. X Company IP VPNs offer a more reasonable mean of doing so without the necessity for expensive leased line dedicated connections.

After the company's quality systems are all involved in policy-relevant authorities in the selection process to determine the weight of each factor a weight-based mining pairwise comparison approach to investigate individual thought weights complete each facet of computing pairwise comparison matrix, then calculate final weight of each facet of weight, the final score of the level of choice in accordance with the quality system verification company.

This is a case study of failure analyses about a manufacturing company diversified from a successful trading service company. The company X is a commerce agent. For avoiding the threat from suppliers’ going direct the company X decided to diversify itself into a new business to manufacture its own products. The trust issues between the board and the division general managers emerge as the new business cannot make a break-even and keep losing money after operating for a period of time. Under such a critical situation, the new change agent was assigned by the board to make a turn-around. Nevertheless the operation of the new business was not improved and the board finally abandoned the whole new business. The case was analyzed from various theoretical perspectives with the following findings: 1.It is difficult of core competence transfer as it takes a long time to acquire. 2.If a new product fails to win the specific buyers over it is very likely to fall into the chasm; the penetration of a low-end disruptive innovation technology demands the high commitment of owners and sustained capability of the organization. 3.The agency problem would become worse if business continued losing money and general managers of the new business own only minor equities. 4.The room of making change is quite limited if the initial strategy is wrong. The only way to stop loss is to withdraw gradually or completely if the new business unit cannot generate income by current products.

Most of fitness equipment firms in Taiwan are OEM ( Original Equipment Manufactures )oriented; therefore, continuous cost reduction should be the target. The optimal design of production process is the only way for the firm to achieve sustainable advantages. This research is using the multi-objective method for optimizing the aggregate planning for a fitness equipment firm. The methods used in this study are fuzzy multi-objective method and weighting multi-objective method, respectively. We compare these two methods and find that the total cost of fuzzy model is more lower than that of the weighting model. Furthermore, since the weights are not easily determined for the decision maker, the fuzzy multi-objective approach seems to be more appropriate in this study. The sensitivity analysis is also conducted in this study, our model hints that the optimal policy should be proposed to balance the pricing, backlog, production, inventory, etc, so that the total cost could be minimized. The economic downturn has brought a lot of turmoil in every industry around the world. In Taiwan’s semiconductor industry, there’s serious impact on IC design house, foundry service, assembly and testing house. In this semiconductor supply chain, every firm faces an unavoidable bullwhip effect. Because the demand of consumer product is low, the firm in the lower stream of the supply chain cuts the orders to the foundry service. The variance of order is huge and the bullwhip effect is significant when the firm is in the upper stream of the supply. The purpose of this study is to provide the suggestions to eliminate the impact of bullwhip effect during the recession. By using the technique of SWOT and five force analyses, the company can find the best strategy to stake out a position in the industry. Also, to have the knowledge of company’s capability and of the causes of competitive forces will emphasize the areas where the company should confront competition and where should avoid it. Furthermore, developing e-commerce to enhance the customer relationship management increase the potential benefits for the firm and the customer.

Results show a signifi-cant effect for criticality, which might be limited by small sample size. We recommend changes to the performance appraisals, talent management and staffing.

SMT(Surface-mount technology) is a method for producing electronic circuits in which the components are placed directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs)。The case of this study is a SMT SEM(small and medium-size enterprise) which cooperate with IC design house to make to small quantity、 high precision、various、short delivery times pilot run order. In this environment, the object of this study usually can’t afford the shipping time of order. The case of study using A3 report of TPS (Toyota Production System) and PDCA cycle of Kaizen for improving due-date performance. Believe that SEM can get improvement with limited resources. First, collect every department manager’s opinion about the cause of delay of shipping time to identify which department should take responsible for it. Base on responsibility department’s data such as machine utilization rate and the waiting time for WIP(working in process), etc., to find out the real reason that cause the delay. Then formulate a improvement plan and execute the plan. To see if it can make OFR(order fill rate) performance get improvement. According to the result, the daily OFR performance get improve from 51.58% to 86.30% and the average postpone delivery days declined from 3.75 to 1.88.We can learn from this study that even SEM can improve competitiveness by learning Continuous Improvement Theory and doing right way to change .

They are a new start-up firm that intends to introduce their nail printer to the United States and Chinese consumer markets. The overall objective of this particular study is to analyze and develop an ideal product launch strategy for Company X that fosters success. Introducing new products is an effective method for any business to achieve and maintain success. However, this objective is burdensome, difficult to achieve, and often results in failure and substantial financial loss for a firm. Mastering the elements of product development and launch strategy is an opportune means of overcoming this adverse fate and ensure a new product’s success. In order to assist global business entities in ensuring continuous positive growth there must be intent focus and novel study on product development and launch practices. This study proposes elaborated guidelines which Company X could follow in its product development and launch process. The launch plan was developed based on the Stage-Gate Model, which is a reliable and successful method used in different successful launch cases. The Stage-Gate Model was adopted according to the current market and case company's strategy. The findings of this study are designed for Company X but could be modified and used by other firms all over the world.

In attacked by the competitors from Korea and Japan, the total output of large size TFT-LCD module (10” above) from Taiwan TFT-LCD industry had increased to trillion dollars in the Oct. 2004. And the word wide market share increased to 50%. This is the first time that Taiwan TFT-LCD companies had taken placed of Korea competitors. The investment of Sixth Generation TFT-LCD panel Fab is more than billion dollars. It’s not only the high barriers to entry this field but also the big cost of exit. In the previous of Crystal Cycle, the inventory cost and sales losses when period of recession and the capacity gap with demand when period of prosperity, so that the company’s operators should face the adjustment of operation strategy. A miss is as good as a mile. Investment strategy of TFT-LCD industry should not be accidentally. At present, most of the studies for increasing production capability by merger focus on the business of company can get positive synergy through merger or not. This research of strategy formation for the investment plan for increasing panel in-house rate of TFT-LCD company includes several parts, selecting measurement indicators for investment plan through literature review, applying Analytic Hierarchy Process to calculate the weight of evaluation indicator. Finally, apply TOPSIS to find the best plan of investment.

In order to reduce production cost and increase competitiveness, most of the manufacturing companies had moved their production facilities to countries with lower labor cost. China has low cost labor and, thanks to the policy to grow her private capital and open up her market, huge market that attracts many companies, including major electronics appliance companies, to setup their factories there. Thus electronics component channels have to follow the steps of their customers and setup service locations nearby to provide dynamic and real-time services. This research studies the electronics component channel industry to get an understanding about current status and trend of this industry and about the operations of Taiwanese electronics component channels in China market. Following the thorough studies on management theories, this research adapts the five power analysis methodology of Porter to analyze this industry and the case company. By defining a number of assumptions in each of the five major factors, a questionnaire is designed in view of identifying the competitiveness and competitive advantage of the case company. Questionnaires were sent to industry related professionals to collect information about how well the electronic component distributors are doing in each aspects of the five power model. After digesting the collected information, interviews with executives of the industry then arranged to clarify the findings. Conclusion is then made and suggestion given on how the case company can act to improve her competitiveness in China market. The case company, as well as those major players in electronic component distribution industry, has weakness in bargaining with their major customers and also major suppliers. It’s concluded that besides signing-up products with good performance and quality, distributors should do more business in buy-and-sell model to gain more profit through better volume discount and by managing her inventories more efficiently. The case company is doing very well in China market because it has very strong product combination and technical supporting capabilities. By aggressively adapting herself to the very special culture and way of doing business in China market, the case company is growing very rapidly and gaining competitiveness edge in this market。

It was realised that there are inefficiencies at Company X’s plant K shunting yard; service time was long and the idling time of the locomotives was long. Locomotives can be utilised for other purposes in the plant. This has implication in resource planning and productivity in the company. The study deals with the simulation of the Company X rail network in plant K. The focus is on how shunting and product transportation takes place. A background on the study is given, taking into consideration elements which have been included in the study. These include the locomotives and the Block Train Rail Tanker Cars (RTCs). These containers transport different products from Town L to Town M. The study focuses on the transportation of five products. The study also includes the domestic and international Product E trains arriving at the Product E loading and offloading zone. Simulation model which represents the current-state situation was developed, using SIMIO software package. The study examined how service speed during the process of loading and offloading of products in the plant can be improved. The study also focused on locomotives travelling speed and idling time. Conclusions and recommendations have been made on the model developed. The results obtained were also discussed and analysed.

Sales forecasting is an integral part of business management. It refers to the process of evaluating what the firm’s sales will be in the future. A good prediction of sales will help managers make better business decisions on inventory management, cash flow, resource allocations, and firm’s growth. Carton industry is an interesting industry in Taiwan. The industry’s sales are affected by a number of factors, such as seasonality, irregularity, trend, and cyclicality. Thus sales forecasting is especially important for manager’s decision making in this industry. Using sales data on four product categories of company X in the period 2010-2012, the present study empirically analyzes and conducts different sales forecasting models: simple moving average model, weighted moving average model, exponential smoothing model, least squares model, and trend adjusted for seasonal effects model. The results of this study show that carton sales are affected by seasonal effect and present a stable growth trend. The five sales forecasting models show a very similar forecasting result, but trend adjusted for seasonal effects method is the best model that can generate the most precise forecasting results for carton sales. The results of this study provide importance contributions to both academic research and business managers in making better sales forecasting decisions.

For business entities, one of the easiest way to increase their profits is to reduce their costs, such as to reduce their procurement prices. In general, many buyers consider "price" is the most important factor and others are minor factors during their procurement decision. This study firstly compiled the relevant literatures and used Modified Delphi Method questionnaires to the experts in production department and procurement department as a preliminary survey. The obtained results were summarized and then used as the key factors in the following survey to the procurement personnel. Lastly the survey was evaluated by the Analytic Hierarchy Process. After the computation by a commercial available program, the results show that contract contents, supplier's characters and user's workshops are three major domains. The importance of all factors was also compared. It was found that "quality", "prices" and "demand factors" were the three most important factors for raw material buyers. Surprisingly, "price" is not the only or the most important factor. The result of this investigation can be used as a guideline for future procurement personnel.

On the other hand, end customer needs are becoming unique and customized, to meet customers’ demand, OEM manufactures have to be more flexible and implement diversifying suppliers. This becomes challenges for supplier management, as well as a topic being discussed and studied – how to optimize supplier base to share the limited business while fulfill diversify demands. Cost reduction is a must and important means to maximize company profit, how to balance the cost and quality, as well as service performance level is a challenge. Rating suppliers upon these dimensions would be a key step to consolidate suppliers, this helps to classify suppliers and enhance the relationship between manufacture and key suppliers. Furthermore, supplier consolidation activity needs to consider supplier positioning, product life, company development strategy etc. Setting a number to be decreased may take high risk on quality and delivery, or even customer satisfaction level. This paper analyzed the company conditions, products strategy and supplier base then studied the solution to supplier optimization. Comparing the performance before and after this activity, it proves supplier optimization is effective and valuable. Wish the research method and result on this paper can be the reference for company strategy execution.

In the industrial domain of semi-conductors, from the design of ICs, the foundry of wafer, the test of assembling to the various manufacturers of the whole system, there are quite a lot of factories which have occupied the positions as the leaders in different stages of this field. Even go through the worldly financial crisis of the past years, most of the manufacturers are still survive and grow steadily. During the period of financial crisis, consumers had quickly frozen their buying intension regarding new products. As a result, the products were unable to be sold by schedule which had caused the cancellation of every related material suppliers. Consequently, not only the producing of semi- conductors suppliers but also all the IC designers, foundry and manufacturers were faced the same cancellation. The affect of this event was incredibly wide. By early of year 2009, because of the strongly interfere of many governments all over the world, including methods of stabilizing the order of finance as well as promoting the ability of consuming, the economy of the whole electronic products market started getting better gradually. However, owing to the marketing uncertainty, the sellers have become conservative towards the consuming abilities of consumers. Thus, lots of orders were placed to various stages of suppliers irregularly or within very short notice time. Another problem is that there are many manufacturers who supply to the same sellers in the market, which has also caused orders to the foundry either doubled or neglected. So, the cancellation of orders or the adding of extra orders is happened frequently and causing the renew of working schedules much too often. While the business of second season in 2009 is booming, various suppliers of semi- conductors start to look at the bright side of the economy. Still, full amount of purchasing materials in advance is out of the question. When the IC designers get the orders and wish to get the products as soon as possible, the foundry at the same time because of low using of their manufacturing capacity asking for more orders. Therefore, the price of products might be lower result in the bigger quantity of orders and it has become the effect of bull-whip effect. This study has offered the solution of traditional bull-whip effect which is based on X Company’s policy. Besides, it also supplies general procedure under severe competition, how X company would use in the management of clients’relationship, and the value of personnel management during the later period of financial crisis. It also suggests how to deal with the possible solution for customer’s uncertainty to create a win-win situation in the field of this special business.

This article focuses on the X company's research on the rights and responsibilities of virtual platform managers. According to the national foreign security research survey, human factors cause as many as 60% of security incidents. About 50% are caused by human errors, and 10% are caused by employee’s transition. In order to reduce personnel misoperation and malicious acts of internal personnel, all connections need to go through the Jump Station to the Server Farm, and record the operation behavior and event record book records. The topics of safety and security emerge in an endless stream. Although the company’s safety and security concepts have a certain degree of emphasis, case companies’ budgets for investment policies in information security systems and infrastructure construction are relatively small and may be a huge amount for companies. Funding, based on budget considerations, the development of a Jump Station is controlled by a unified portal. The existing architecture incorporates self-developed software and imports related supporting systems. The software VIX API is used to develop software and virtual platform interfaces. Controlled by the Jump Station, and develop an account management system to solve privileged account issues, and then clarify the maximum share permissions, the side recording program can monitor the manager's operation behavior, can determine whether the event is a human error or malicious behavior, Jump Station and virtual Platform event review records can also be exported and stored on external devices for auditing.

The digital music market offers an opportunity for a telecom company to furnish value-added services. However, little effort has been made to study empirically how to make a decision about entry modes for a telecom company into digital music business. This study therefore investigates various strategies that a telecom company may implement to enter the digital music industry. The results of a series of expert surveys reveal that the preference ranking of entry modes is acquisition, joint venture, and contractual agreement, respectively. Moreover, the leading key factors in selecting entry modes are complementary capabilities, hostile environments, relational risk, commitment of resources, and availability of expertise. Furthermore, an importance-performance analysis was conducted to understand the different aspects that are of different performances and importance in each entry mode. The implications of the findings are also discussed.

This study is a case study on a electronic manufacturer, whose customers are world class manufacturers having very stringent inspection report requirements for shipments of orders. A major requirement is that of automatic data collection during the manufacturing processes, including inspection reports on statistical process/ quality control (SPC/SQC, Defect Data), machining parameters (Set Value, Process Value) and other relevant settings. For parts with relatively poor yields, the reporting requirements even include total inspection data, real-time data collecting and monitoring/control mechanism. Since the majority of machines are PLC-based, and there are many different types of PLC’s devices, there is currently no packaged solution in the market that can cover all the functions needed to perform the total data collection requirement. Thus, the case company has to custom design and implement an architecture to carry out inter-machine connection and data collection. Since there is a large number of connecting machines, coupled with very large number of customized matching features, any mismatch or irregularities may result in disruptions of the IT Services. If the recovery plan is not well laid out, there will be a loss of data during the network outage. In the worst case, this may result in a customer switching its order on this item to competitors. Thus, the aims of this study is to design a mechanism to improve the process of data collection, so that under severe resource constraints, the system can still provide appropriate information, inform the right people, quickly identify problems, reducing recovery time for data collection, and also enhance the trust of the customer on the company''s product quality control.

Most of companies rely on human efforts to use Excel to establish consolidated statements before the adoption of IFRS in 2013. However, the need to introduce the system to assist in consolidating financial statements is urgent and necessary. The research is motivated to investigate how to solve the challenges and build an automatic system to consolidate financial statements when facing the challenges from time, quality, changes and costs under IFRS adoption. The research uses the case study to investigate how companies adopting Hyperion system introduces the Oracle consolidated statement system to save costs and improve time efficiency and quality. Furthermore, the research discusses eight key issues including creating the ledger, establishing the chart of accounts, defining accounting segment values, setting multiple ledgers transfer rule, transferring data and posting consolidation journals, eliminating entries, reporting and analyzing reports, and translating the multi-currency accounting report. The result shows that the group company can not only improve and solve the practical issues of consolidated statements but also achieve great benefits of information and management by introducing the consolidated system. To assist enterprises satisfy the IFRS requirements, this research suggests that future researches can further discuss how companies improve self-consolidating statements ability and the establishment the internal control process of the consolidated statement system. Since 1962 when the market was opened for life insurance companies in Taiwan, life insurance companies have continually invested huge resources into enhancing salespersons’ performance, but the result is not impressive. The major objective of this study is to help life insurance companies in achieving the ultimate goal of enhancing salespersons’ performance through empirical analysis. With outdoor salespersons of N Company around the country as the sampling targets, this study has adopted the regression analysis, and found that: Factor that shows significant positive correlation with the number of cases done by male and female salespersons is the weekly working hours; and number of life insurance companies served shows negative correlation. Factors that show significant positive correlation with the male and female FYP (First Year Premium) income are age and weekly working hours. Factors that show significant positive correlation with the male and female FYC (First Year Commission) income are age and weekly working hours. A point worth mentioning is that salespersons’ annual income performance at their previous job is significantly positively correlated with FYP and FYC for female, while they are negatively correlated for male.

Responsibility center system is one of the management control systems usually used by decentralized organizations. Whether this system can perform successfully or not depends on the performance evaluation. The case company has performed " Profit Center" system for some years. Owing to its long history and experiences, it is worth researching its performance evaluation system and expense allocation. The main discoveries in the research are as follows: 1. Interestingly, the case company regards all types of "Responsibility Centers" (such as cost, revenue, profit, and investment centers) as "Profit Centers," with profitability as their major performance measure. That is biased for "Standard Cost Centers" (called "Cost Centers" for short). 2. By means of questionnaire investigation, it is found that most of center managers put much emphasis upon cost control, delivery time, and flexibility, which is very close to the theory. 3. With respect to expense allocation, the case company has used traditional unit-based methods. As far as the case is concerned, the original intention to build "Cost Centers" lies in providing component parts to the departments in demand with low cost and assured quality in order to increase their market competition. Taking products and competition power into account, the research considers that the expense allocation of cost centers should not be limited to the rigid allocation mold. If the case company can adopt the activity-based costing, it should be able to improve the shortcomings of arbitrary cost allocation.

Abstract In the past, financial statements of listed companies reported all used PDF or Word forms and uploaded by using ASCII or HTML. It’s always a double burden for corporation, investment corporation use these financial information for analysis. User must download one by one manually and then the required fields information to enter or paste the copy into other software in order to analyze and compare to all the various listed companies financial information. It will be very cumbersome and time consuming. And the most of all is that this traditional way could be full of mistakes. In this research, these problems will be analyzed by Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), and focus on their background information, such time, the company name, related subjects, reporting units, those information will be list by accounting standards, all the relevant numbers and figures will all have a complete background information that could reassemble and present in many different ways. The main objective of this study is to employ multiple regression analysis to develop a prediction model of manufacturing cost for the drive IC packaging company, so that the manager of the drive IC packaging companies can use the proposed prediction model as a reference for planning their future management strategies to reduce the manufacturing cost effectively and increase the gross profit. This study uses the cost variables such as consumption fee, utility bills, etc. as input variables to set up an accurate prediction model to predict the manufacturing cost. Finally, the actual data of the manufacturing costs from a drive IC packaging company (X company) in Taiwan were collected and proposed prediction model was verified to be effective.

Few of them pay attention to the influence of the consistency of business engagement concepts of general headquarters on enterprise culture and performances. Especially, it lacks positive study. The development of this study is raising the case analysis ofX company to study business engagement concepts and management philosophy (sincerity, creativity and customers first). Then to elaborate the influence of business culture establishment and socialization over the performances in order to enforce the consistency of business engagement concepts, make a reference for military and enterprise, and deeply involve in business management affairs.   This case study MANOVA and LISREL Analysis generated by various business engagement styles influence on the entire construction aspects with X company case. The outcomes of this study are as the following :   1. MANOVA of various business engagement styles on the entire construction aspects:   There''s an obvious big discrepancy on various business engagement styles influence over six items hereinafter, "sincerity" and "creativity" of" headquarters'' business engagement concepts", "symbolic activities" of business culture, "personnel resource development and management", "operation results" , and "customer satisfaction level" of performances.   2.The results ofLISREL construction model analysis:   A. The indirect influence of "headquarters engagement concepts" over "business culture" on "performances" :   There are direct influence obviously on both "sincerity" of business culture to "common behavior model" and "customers first" to business culture''s three aspects over performance''s 7 aspects. Such as we can influence the "leadership" , "information and analysis", "strategy planning ", and "personnel resource development and management " of performance indirectly with "common value standard", influence indirectly "strategy planning", "personnel resource development and management" , "flowing procedures management", "customers satisfaction level" of performance with "common behavior model". Influence the "leadership", "strategy planning", "personnel resource development and management", "flowing procedures management", "customers satisfaction level" of performance with "symbolic activities". The influence of headquarters engagement concepts on performance:   "sincerity" has the direct influence over the "information and analysis", "strategy planning", "operation results", and "customer satisfaction level" of performances. In addition, "customers first" also has the direct influence over the "information and analysis", "personnel resource development and management", "flowing procedures management", "customers satisfaction level" of "performance".   C. The direct influence of business culture on performances:   The following relationships exist the obvious direct influence, "common value standard" over "leadership", "information analysis", "strategy planning", "personnel resource development and management", "common behavior model" on "strategy planning", "personnel resource development and management" , "flowing procedures management", and "customers satisfaction level", "symbolic activities" over "leadership", "strategy planning", "personnel resource development and management", "flowing procedures management", and "customers satisfaction level".   The consistency of business engagement and the establishment of "common value standard" is a long term investment activity. In the long run, we need to start in getting the agreement of grass-roots unit, then profile clearly the organization , consider the full authorization of "the interaction of power and obligation". Therefore, headquarters engagement concepts appear the interior consistency then conduct them deeply into the management affairs to make a stable and sound business culture and evaluate the business image helpfully.

This study focuses on the discussion of the notebook industry, to explore notebook computer industry how do operations materials management and reduce slow moving stock in supply chain. Market environment, orders are changing every week how to predict in advance on the control tube becomes especially important. And now the electronics manufacturing industry are basically managed to earn money, so the additional costs are the cause of reduced profitability of the company which is focused on material inventory management. How to meet customer orders up to post on satisfaction and productivity while considering safety stock and spares within an acceptable range, is the factory management most important issue.   This paper will be case study to explore end of the life cycle of product in notebook industry, subcontractor how to do liquidation slow-moving stock and the responsibility between both customer and vendor. The main purpose of this study has five points. First, through Waterfall tool to view enterprise materials management and inventory management for maximize corporate profits. Second, to explore the electronics industry for the calculation of EOL models of slow-moving items to discuss find out inventory lower way. Third, discuss slow moving processing of materials and parts, how you can be more efficient to statistics, analysis, recognition, billing processes. Fourth, to discuss how to advance the management, so that this can reduce inventory of slow moving, lower inventory costs in this sluggish. Fifth, to optimize current material management processes, reduce inventory costs sluggish.   Research will be use forecast and actual orders of notebooks to analyze, improve and optimize the process of liquidation now sluggish. The good return will enhance customer satisfaction, thus increasing the competitive advantage of the industry itself. Therefore, it is an important issue to set up an effective return will help industry to maintain the competitiveness of enterprises. In this keen competition among the business environment, more and more attention to the company as a service differentiation strategy. Therefore, how to use customer relationship management to reach pre-remediation strategies for the industry is the major issue to be further studied. Since 2013, the annual return volume are very high of company X. The company X takes a lot of human and financial resources every year to deal with the return, the soaring cost of the company (increase the return freight and other costs to include scrap). Besides, Company X using customer relationship management analysis and the use of service innovation strategy, the following results: (1) improve the relationship between companies and between companies through customer relationship management; (2) improvement through service innovation process, to maintain long-term stable relationships with customers; (3) to help manufacturers implement channel inventory management and monitoring. While achieving reduced an error not caused by corporate and product recovery discontinued monthly average return of the target amount.

In recent years, the rise of smart phones, tablet computers and wearable electronic devices making the communications chained industry thriving and statistics shows that the smart phone shipments reached about 1.3 billion by the end of 2014. Therefore, in order to meet the market demand, various communications chained industry managers choose to open stores in many different regions. Today more and more attention to social chain location, but unfortunately there are few studies on the geographical location. This study choose one typical communications chained industry to compare the company's actual revenue and actual loss based on regional location factors and try to find the correlation between regional location and revenue(loss). Meanwhile, through this research, I expect to establish the optimum model to forecast the place is suitable for setting up a branch. This study use X Company's 256 business locations as research samples, and collected related literature. Firstly, I set up different location as variables and do regression analysis which find that it‘s hard to use Single variable as the most The most influential factors,So I use multiple regression analysis build a set of model and the forecast accuracy is good. According to previous research, if classifying the revenue, the rule-of-thumb to assess the accuracy can reach up to 72.66%. However, if using the model 1, the accuracy of assessment can reach up to 81.25%. The rule-of-thumb on a realistic assessment of attitudes towards the most conservative forecasts, which predict almost in class B-based rating, but this study’s model can accurately predict A-class and C-class shops. Besides, the second model in this study can predict profit or loss while the rule-of-thumb cannot which contribute much valuable to academic and industry to some extent.

According to this study, high production costs in Taiwan have forced Taiwanese manu-facturers to relocate to other countries. This case study furniture maker chose to move to Vietnam. Its mode of entry was wholly owned. The factors that resulted in this case study maker’s relocation to Vietnam are low local production cost and low cost of fac-tory establishment. This case study maker focuses on making products with higher profits. Its produc-tion mode is mass customization. For non-core products or low-profit products, this maker uses outside contractors, managing strategic sourcing. It actively responds to customers’ requests. It also places importance on management, training and benefit of its employ-ees. With adequate capital, emphasis on management and marketing, this case study furniture manufacturer makes good performance and continues to grow. This research suggests that the case study maker pay more attention to risk man-agement on outside environment.

Since the enterprises began to introduce electronic information system to help the organizational daily operations, servers have been used for running applications and services. With Internet age coming, the level of businesses rely on servers is more indescribable, and some even see servers as the main platform for profitable operations. In recent years, companies start to use more and more servers, the quantity easily reaches hundreds even thousands. Under such condition, the management and maintenance problems which come along with the trend become more necessary for enterprises. This study conducts a research for the evolution of server management and maintenance methods and tries to analyze the disadvantages of the early ways and recent ways which used for system management. We apply a case study and take X Company as an example to probe into when the server amount reach a huge number and what is X Company’s innovation to proceed server management and maintenance for supporting the organizational operations. Managerial implications are also discussed in the final section.
