The purpose of this study was to determine and compare the shear force (N) required to fracture or dislodge an all-ceramic zirconia-based crown using different luting cement with those of polycarbonate crown and strip crown for the primary anterior teeth in vitro. Study design: Four groups of esthetic restoration for primary anterior teeth were tested for fracture strength: 1) Fifteen all-ceramic zirconia-based crowns cemented with glass ionomer cement, 2) Fifteen all-ceramic zirconia-based crowns bonded with a self-adhesive resin cement, 3) Fifteen polycarbonate crowns cemented with a polymer

The teeth that are most frequently affected by the traumatic injuries are maxillary incisors that results in complicated crown or crown root fractures involving dental pulp. Currently biological approaches are taken into consideration for the management of such injuries in order to restore aesthetics and function on the same day to prevent the social and psychological stress of the patient. Background/Aim. Fracture toughness determines functional crown strenght and prevents damages on ceramics during mastication. There is a lack of relevant literature data about fracture toughness of crowns made by feather-edge preparation. Mechanical testing of ceramic samples is supposed to show if feather-edge tooth preparation is a successful method for making ceramic crowns without any risk of reduction of their mechanical properties. Crown root fractures of anterior teeth are complex dental injuries that present unique challenges due to the involvement of both the crown and root structures. These fractures often lead to concomitant periodontal injury, which can complicate the treatment outcome. Additionally, anterior fractures pose aesthetic and psychological concerns for the patient. Reattachment or restorative repair of fractures involving the coronal third of the root are notoriously prone to failure due to their proximity to the oral cavity leading to difficulty in isolation and bacterial contamination. Complicated crown-root fractures of maxillary incisors are a relatively common occurrence in cases of trauma to the facial region. Patients with such fractures are in acute pain and usually require emergency care on their first clinical visit. This report describes three cases of complicated crown fractures treated with partial pulpotomy using BioAggregate. Three maxillary permanent central incisors with complicated crown fracture were treated by partial pulpotomy using BioAggregate and reviewed clinically and radiographically for 24 months. Throughout this period, there was no spontaneous pain, periapical radiolucency, and coronal discoloration; the pulp was observed to be vital. Based on these findings, it was concluded that BioAggregate can be used in partial pulpotomy treatment of complicated crown fracture.
