In network on chip (NoC)-based SoC, optimizing the delay bound is challenging due to two aspects: (1) the delay bound is hard to obtain by traditional methods such as simulation; (2) the delay bound changes with the different application mappings. In this paper, we propose a delay bound optimization method using discrete firefly optimization algorithms (DBFA). Studies of the acoustic radiation of a heating and ventilation unit were carried out on a test bench mounted in an anechoic chamber, with several design options for the housing and control dampers of the heating and ventilation unit containing sound-absorbing elements. Graphic dependences of one-third octave values of sound levels at the studied measuring point at all rotation speeds of the electric fan impeller are presented. A conclusion is made about the effectiveness of the lining of the housing walls, which allows achieving a reduction in overall noise levels to 4.1 dBA.

This study arose from a Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument (TUSK) technical assistance request titled “Soundscape Monitoring”, which identified the need for baseline acoustic surveys in the newly created park. Therefore, across one season in 2019, the Natural Sounds and Night Skies Division (NSNSD) gathered acoustical data at two sites in TUSK to provide park managers with information about the acoustical environment, sources of noise, and the natural and existing ambient sound levels within the park.
