This thesis discusses the users' involvement into the organization of public services (especially within the framework of social and rehabilitation policies). The first part deals with a theory of involvement - forms of commitment and participation. The second and third parts offer an analysis of rehabilitation policies (revenu minimum d'insertion, "the minimum rehabilitation income") and intend to show the importance of users' involvement in the enforcement of these policies. These reflexions on involvement are closely associated to the questionning of the new realities of power. How do the public policies manage to obtain users' involvement? this involvement theory intends to realize a convergence of michel foucault's theory of power and gilles deleuze and felix guattari's own theory of subjectivity

This thesis deals with the concept of immanence in the work of Gilles Deleuze. It is maintained in our hypothesis that it is an ontological, noological, political and ethical notion what constitutes the nucleus of his philosophical project. The ontological dimension refers to the re-elaboration of Duns Scott’s thesis on the univocity of being and the comprehension of Spinoza’s immanence as “expressive pantheism”. The noological aspect focuses on immanence as a “plane”, within Deleuze’s frame of conception of thought and philosophy, and sets a counterpoint with François Jullien concerning his approach to immanence in terms of “depth”. From the political point of view, the idea of “post-historical axiomatics” implies the functioning of capitalist immanence, which feature of “end of history” is connected to Kojève’s thesis. Furthermore, the essential layouts of politics of immanence as from the pledge of becoming-minor are deployed. The ethical aspect articulates three axes around the idea of “practical immanence”. First, it analyses the statements that conform the intertwining between Nietzsche and Spinoza (valorization of the body, definition of ethics as ethology, apology of joy). Second, it tackles nihilism, recognized as an effect of transcendent positions, which goes beyond Nietzsche’s realm and turns into “resentment” towards the event, which is acquitted by means of amor fati. It also becomes “loss of the world”, which vent consists on the “belief in this world”. Third, within the vitalist structure, the determination of desire as an immanent principle of a prudent experimentation and the “body without organs” as “plane of immanence” of desire are probed

Foucault and Deleuze: two philosophers, two contemporaries with an unusual career whose meeting and mutual acknoledgement throws a glimmering ligth on each other's thinking. By comparing Foucault's and Deleuze's texts, one can find out how concepts –even philosophical practices– pass and transform from one to the other. Their asymmetrical respective publications put into relief perspectives on topical questions theoretical and political common commitments, particulary on the issue of relationships between politics and subjectivization practices; How the subject came into being through desire, and how the body harnesses its pleasures –caught between subjection to and desubjection from – give rise to an array of questions about what a life that would be free from the concept of subject, êthopoiétique, alêthurgique, in a word, a philosophical life can be. Two philosophers concerned with the event – even though Deleuze's notion of transformation does not coincide with Foucault's genealogical and archeological approach – who share the same sharp sense of criticism in order to provide a new vision of thought and foster the resurgence of an ethical questioning after the “dead of man” and the “dead of God”

This thesis looks at the relationship between art and politics with the aim of producing concepts that embrace the complex transformations that arise in between the two fields. In this, it shifts its focus from the task of delineating artistic and political fields in order to relate them, towards the conceptualisation of the ambiguous ‘in-between,’ from which the contours of each field emerge. The thesis extends concepts found in Deleuze’s philosophy of film, by composing a philosophical montage of four disjunctive aspects on the problem: a ‘long shot’, a ‘close-up’, an affective ‘cross-cutting’ and a subjective ‘point-of-view shot. ’ This leads us from an initial presentation of the historical scene of our investigation marked by the influence of Plato and Kant, to three images of the in-between: the supplementary frame, the differential fold and the intermediary member of judgement. Through intensive readings of texts by Danto, Derrida, Nancy, Deleuze, Arendt and Malabou, among others, we construct an indirect image of the fragmented in-between that highlights its characteristic plasticity. As a site from which: (i) distinct artistic and political forms emerge; (ii) forms of sense and sensation are endowed and destroyed to configure the world; and (iii) we as molar subjects give ourselves form through judgment, the plasticity of the artistic and political in-between is shown to be multi-faceted. Through a rhythmic alternation between images of frame, fold and judgment, this thesis presents a faithful and non-reductive image of the fragmented relationship between art and politics

The problem this thesis intends to address is that of a certain disconnect between the cinematic philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and the condition of the contemporary moving-image, which, in the years since Deleuze wrote on film, has been radically altered by its transformation into digital format(s). It is my central contention that a productive relationship between this philosophy and contemporary screen cultures is indeed possible, and potentially of great value, provided we can reread and extend certain key Deleuzian concepts.Pursuant to this goal, drawing on a concept deployed throughout Deleuze’s Cinema II: The Time-Image (1985), I argue that digital images can engender certain unique relations with an “outside” –an unarticulated presence beyond the frame, which serves to unground and problematise thought. The “outside” –developed from the literary philosophy of Maurice Blanchot– constitutes a genetic condition of thought, which sees the thinker confronted with that which is fundamentally un-thought, an unrecognisable terrain to which she must respond with creative, novel solutions. This model of thought, I argue, impels us away from habitudes and orthodoxies, forcing us to become radically open to contingency and change –a movement commensurate with what I will claim is the fundamental political orientation of Deleuze’s philosophy

We aim to interpret the work of the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze (1935-1995) basing our analysis on two concepts that will allow us to trace a problematic itinerary: “capitalism” and “human relations”. The first of these concepts will let us carry out an analysis of the regime of functioning of the contemporary social form. Even if “capitalism” embraces the heritage of Karl Marx’s (Germany, 1818-1883) theory, it implies nevertheless deep differences of ontological root. It’s where Marx utilises the dialectical ontology of Georg Hegel (Germany, 1770-1831) that Deleuze will take the problem from a stand point more adequate to his ontology of difference: the one provided by his interpretation (heterodox enough) of the philosophy of Gottfried Leibniz (Germany, 1646-1716). We will examine the deep consequences of this replacement. However, the concepts of Leibniz, that where very efficient when it came to describing our world, must be abandoned when working on a constructive philosophy. The limitations of the point of view of Leibniz (requisite of converging series, of composibility, of divine choice, of the principle of the Best) block all modifications of the state of the matter. To do so, it is necessary to fit Leibniz’s “differential relation” into the larger frame of the ontology of Baruch de Spinoza (Holland, 1632-1677). This ontology will permit us to identify the difference between the historically contingent relation of capitalism and the relation that constitutes us, humans: what we will call “human relations”. What is adequate to these relations will be the criteria for the constitution of a new regime of social functioning that, instead of being based on the affects of sadness that imply our bondage, may be based in the active affections that allow the fulfilment of our power
Landaeta, Mardones Patricio Alfonso.
This research presents a lecture of the political challenges of the idea of geophilosophy conceived by Deleuze and Guattari. The perspective that guides this thesis is lead by the relationship of "immanence and city" presented in "What is philosophy?" - the last piece of collaborative work by the two philosophers. In their own words, the city creates and offers a medium to the philosophical thought, a sort of "environment" or "atmosphere" since being developed in Greece, a radical immanence and heterogeneity through it a common place. Given this, to understand the value of this medium that converts philosophy in geophilosophy, multiple references will be presented and analysed. We can synthesize this approach in the following words: if the city appears for philosophy as a medium or atmosphere, it is because those make possible both heterogeneity and conflict, the fundamental elements of thought and citizen praxis. But at the same time, in front of Plato's Metaphysics, the conflict and heterogeneity emerges as a menace that must be controlled, domesticated or expelled of the perfect city to reach the conservation of the order of words and the order of movements of the souls of the individuals, the superior order that must govern the city. We decide to take this argument between these two approaches of the city and conflict to analyse three moments in history: the Greek world, the Renaissance and Modernity, and finally the contemporary world. The reason for this is found in what we think is important to be remarked: the tension between "order-organism" and "conflict-heterogeneity". Our research tries to understand and explain on the one hand the control of heterogeneity through the conception and practice of organism in philosophy and urbanism, on the other hand, the expression of conflict a singular becoming of immanence
Jacques, Carmen. "Bionomadologia." reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da UFRGS, 2007. http://hdl.handle.net/10183/12186.
This dissertation explores the possibilities of a bionomadology: a science located between the hard sciences, or State sciences, and the nomadic sciences, concepts which are understood in the way they are developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari in the book A Thousand Plateaus. The threads of a bionomadology are, thus, spread out. The threads of a science that tries to undo the organizations and to unsettle the organisms. The threads of a science of metamorphoses and becomings. These threads work to interweave science with philosophy. It is there, in the point in which a nomadic science meets a philosophy of difference, that a bionomadology is developed. It is a science of life. A science of a life. The threads of this science are unfolded in a plane of immanence. A bionomadology tends to drag new things with it. It prefers to mingle what, apparently, is determined, to get mixed in a tangle of intensities. A truly living experience.
Jabre, Elias. Thesis, Paris 8, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019PA080009.
This thesis dissertation develops a comparative analysis of Derrida’s and Deleuze-Guattari’s thought from the point of view of their relation to psychoanalysis. We confront two strategies used to re-involve psychoanalysis in the field of philosophical-political questions. Both strategies involve a reinterpretation of the "Freudian speculation" on the power-drive as developed in Beyond The Pleasure Principle. According to Freud, any body is bound to itself by a force without origin. However, this power-drive reveals that any socius, community, or institution is groundless, in spite of being grounded in a kind of writing. We then stress the necessity to translate into the legal and political fields this detour logic which exceeds the logic of sovereignty and allows us to rethink power distribution. We also explore whether there is a more just way of doing this. While Derrida undertakes formalizations with a kind of hyperbolic reason using a calculation that finds it necessary to calculate with the incalculable event that rewrites any social body – the other which presents itself and that we have to allow into our experience –, we argue that Deleuze-Guattari have bypassed deconstruction and rejected representation for the sake of an immanent justice. This partially jeopardizes their gesture, although it converges to a certain extent with that of Derrida

Park, Daeseung. "La stratégie minoritaire chez Deleuze et Guattari." Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020TOU20003.
This thesis attempts to examine elements of the strategy of emancipation from Deleuze and Guattari’s perspective of the minority. It is about showing how the "becoming-minoritarian" developed in A Thousand Plateaus works as a revolutionary "minoritarian strategy". Its opposite is the "majoritarian strategy" represented by the Gramscian theory of "hegemony". In order to define these two strategies and formulate their "antinomy", we first take Balibar’s reflection on "strategies of civility" as a guide for research. The thesis has three moments. The First part deals with the concept of "strategy": from the 12th Plateau of A Thousand Plateaus on the "War machine", we bring out the concept of "pure strategy" which distinguishes the two strategies in terms of the concept of strategy. In the Second part, the Gramscian theory of subalternity and the "historical bloc" is translated into the Guattaro-Deleuzian perspective, so that we conceive of subalternity and minority as constituting a "block of becoming". Thus, it turns out that Gramsci’s strategy consists of a double movement of hegemony and becoming-subaltern. This translation allows us to understand the relationship between the two strategies as an antinomic coexistence. First, there is an impossibility of articulating between them: a minor social group will declare in the majoritarian strategy that "we are all human", while a revolutionary power of the minoritarian strategy consists in asserting that "we are not human, neither are you, and we all become savage, animal, inhuman and molecular". However, these two antinomic strategies coexist in the current struggles of minorities against the world capitalist axiomatic. Finally, the Third part examines problems that arise from this coexistence

This work presents a discussion proposal for the question of the methods applied to scientific research in the human sciences field. The attempt was to identify the points of approach and distance between science and art, to analyze how artistic production may contribute to research, how this two fields of knowledge dialogue and which are their possible intersections. More specifically, this master thesis prompts the use of cut-up method, formulated by William Burroughs, and fanzines aesthetics, as an affirmation of the powers of the false and the simulacrum, concepts of the philoshophy of Gilles Deleuze. The work is also based on the notion of movie editing and its relation with cut-up, as both of them may operate as a prime joining mechanism which juxtaposes imagens and texts to stress visual impact, fragmentation, dirty and blurred image effects common to fanzines and a certain cinematographic production.

My thesis proposes a method of identification of the power, a creation of abstract tools to this end, an critical evaluation of the diversity of the forms of expression of the power and a proposition of measures in order to solved power problems within the framework of a materialistic deleuzo-guattarian political philosophy. Our subject is divided at four moments: the first one is a critical moment of identification of the configuration of the scientifico-political power and the definition of the task of the political philosophy towards him since an at first abstract analysis then the put in perspective of this one by a concrete analysis of the contemporary historic and political processes. The second moment consists in establishing a theory of including political philosophy with regard to all the existing critical approaches. In the third moment, it is a question at first of proposing a contents in the political theory by the presentation of concrete operators of analysis and then to legitimize the position of the political deleuzo-guattarian philosophy in the contemporary field. Finally, according to the materialistic perspective applied to the field of the political philosophy, we formulate concrete proposals for the establishment of a lasting peace by investing the contemporary political legal and strategic field. The objective is to offer a key for understanding contemporary politics by the critical approach guaranteeing a knowledge of the desirous processes presiding over the most viable and livable possible forms of order of the social organizations. We propose strategies to reach these goals

If Deleuze and Guattari partly proceeded with producing their Anti-Oedipus with Artaud (1972) from a recipitation of the essence of Lacan's work, it's aise in the wake of this book that Lacan, moving towards a psychoanalysis of the Real, reassessed the matter of psychosis with Joyce. Far from being an alleged epistemological caesura, insanity accounts for the unconscious. Clinical work with madness enables to further investigate the mechanisms of the unconscious in relationship to the other. Subsequently, in light of this clinical work, the psychoanalytic technique, its links with nosography, along with some classical metapsychological concepts, are bound to be re-evaluated and revised. But giving rise to this fresh praxis- based and epistemological thinking entails a materialist approach to the unconscious as a space of productior and reproduction and net merely a scene of intrapsychic representations always-already-there that the clinician would "discover". Considering the unconscious to its full extent as a paradigm that the clinical work demands and updates sheds a new light on the conditions of possibility of psychoanalytic technique. Psychoanalysis may thus recover the true reach of its impact, beyond the temptation of "psychoanalysis-as- an-ideology" that used it to extend the social forms of domination, hiding them in the shadow of its nosographic constructions supporting the psychoanalytic psychiatric operation Foucault revealed. Relieved of its ideological guidance and idealistic coating, the analytic act, far from remaining abstract, can be conceived and accepted as an operation of an ever and full clinical and political consistency

After its Golden Age in Ancient Greece, the question of friendship has become a « lost philosophical problem ». During the 20th century, this question has been rather peculiarly taken over at a crossroads between philosophy and literature, first by Maurice Blanchot, and then by a whole generation of philosophers, such as Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault, Roland Barthes or Jacques Derrida. These theoreticians have reinstalled the philosophical dignity of the question of friendship, while reconsidering it completely. As it is, their friendship has not much in common with that of the Ancient Greeks, for it has been doubly affected: by "Auschwitz", a disaster after which it is impossible to look at a friend without defiance; and by May 1968, when any stranger was already a loved one, and thus became the "familiar-unknown". Through these two events, we have tried to elaborate a definition of friendship as friendship without a face. It corresponds to a friendship rid of the alienating, confiscating presence of the friend. In this new configuration, friendship is not at the heart of the city anymore, but it is newly radical, through a refusal of every kind of identification, fixation or assignation. To sum it up, friendship has become synonymous with the beginning of a resistance
De, Gregorio Carisio Marcello. "Riprodurre lo Stato, superare lo Stato : ideologia e soggettivazione politica in Louis Althusser, Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari." Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019TOU20037.
The research deals with ideology in general – and politics subjectivation in particular – as read and explained by philosophers such as Althusser, Deleuze and Guattari (but also, inevitably, passing through Spinoza, Marx, Lacan and Foucault). The analysis is dealt with in the perspective of a better understanding of the processes that lead to the birth and keeping (through its daily reproduction) of the State-Form as a Capture Apparatus, concluding with some hypotheses – and very open investigative tracks (theoreticaland practical) – aimed at thinking about a social reorganization that attempts to design different and more egalitarian scenarios of collective life. The gaze focuses on the existence of a duplicity that now demands to be better articulated: a) on the one hand, the obligation to understand the nature, the mechanisms of functioning and the purpose of ideology as a practice of 'subjugation-through-subjectivation'; b) on the otherhand, the primarily political theme of the existence of individualities and collectivities – energies and positions still collocated in the determined conjuncture – yet readables as an expression of an active and inventive subjective presence, creative and not subjugated, capable of acting and re-acting to the mechanisms of interpellation and 'shaping ad-hoc' implemented by the apparatus of general signification of the productive system. In a constant reference to the primary and secondary literature – and on this basis, by making interpretations, analogies and connections of which every responsibility is evidently assumed by the writer –, are here shown unexpected points of contact so far little identified among the authors under exam. This is accomplished by examining their work as it unfolds, especially as it evolves, expands and better specifies (this is the case of Althusser) with a different semantics, which nevertheless reinterprets – in our reading – thesis and positions already taken, making play (in a new form) categories already used in older studies, and therefore never abandoned despite every “critical” reading that identifies only breakages and irreconcilable 'coupures'. In this way, we discover elements of closeness of Althusser's latest thesis with the deleuzean and guattarian conception of the subject and of its ‘becoming’

The objective of this thesis is to study the American independent cinema from the point of view of the difference which it founds with the Hollywood cinema, as a line of flight which deteritorialises the latter, while creating for itself new forms of expression and content. That supposes to consider its relation with the Hollywood cinema as one between two plans of immanence emerged on the same level of individuation inside a broader plan of immanence, that of the North-American cinema. And, at the same time, it supposes to consider the difference between these under-plans in what it implies for a cinema-thought, namely a thought in terms of blocks of movement-images and time-images, facing the particular tensions which characterize the American society. Within this framework, the principal distinction that should be considered is that which passes between: on the one hand, the Hollywood cinema and its various ways (genres, organico-active régime) “of saving” the difference, by representing it; and of representing it by bringing it back to the requirements of only one great form in direct affinity with what I define as a dream of continuity and of coherence of American society; and, on the other hand, the independent cinema and its various ways of testifying to a rebellious core which deteritorialises the predetermined direction towards which the actions and the situations of the Hollywood cinema converge. What is beyond or below Hollywood organic representation and that the independent cinema tears off from the latter is a space of wandering and intensive distribution between forces of power and forces of resistance

The general aim of this thesis is to develop a project of transversal research in the domain of social sciences that we designate as political philosophy of language by appealing to the concepts of the contemporary French philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari. The accomplishment of this task demands a theoretical and historical contextualization of language policy in France and Soviet Union in the revolutionary period with special attention to the importance attached to this field by the main politic-makers of bath countries. According to the central hypothesis of this project, the essential part of a revolution is the discovery of "molecular tissue" around the new canters of power that makes possible the mobilization of forces that will produce a political, axiological as well as epistemological rupture with an Old Regime. Comparative research of the language policies in France and the Soviet Union permits to reveal their impact on the republican "nation-building" which opens the so-called "political modernity" period and on the construction of the cultures "proletarian in content, national in form" in the Soviet republics. The latter is often used as the base for the contemporary politics of identity, especially concerning the minorities. Such research also opens a debate on the possibility of a "revolution in language", decidedly repudiated, by Saussure, and an analysis that makes possible an elaboration of a new typology of the vehicular functions of language

Rem Koolhaas’s diagnostic of the modern metropolis shows a generic city with no end, no identity, no past, no streets where the only activity remaining is shopping and the « in-transit » condition is becoming universal. An important part is missing from this analysis: the biopolitical condition of the metropolis, that could explain a number of Junkspace’s characteristics, like the fact that it contains the possibility to resist the generic condition. In the light of this review and in accordance with the philosophical directions that Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari draw in A Thousand Plateaus, this research intends to identify the intervals witnessing the biopolitical dimension of Junkspace by rallying the assemblage theory as hypothesis for the architectural and urban theory. The general postulate is that these intervals are in-between territories functioning as laboratories of assemblages that show a political and resistant architectural practice redefining the very part of the architect. Three lines of research are deployed. The first one questions the relevance of an architectural assemblage thinking in the context of the current territorial transformations. Operating a crossing with Deleuze and Guattari’s thought, architecture is understood as a process of assembling and re-assembling. The second line of research is questioning the biopolitical dimension of Junkspace identifying the critical points of its assemblages and evaluating the in-between paradox. The third research line is testing the in-between territories potential to create opportunities for new spatial configurations

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This dissertation examines the idea of apocalypse through the lens of science fiction (sf) written during the current fin de siècle period. I have dated this epoch, known as the information era, as starting in 1980 with the advent of personal computing and ending in approximately 2020 when the functional limits of silicon-based digital manufacturing and production are expected to be reached. By surveying the field of contemporary sf, I identify certain trends and subgenres that relate to particular aspects of apocalyptic thought, namely, conceptions of the ‘terror of history,’ the sublimity of accelerated techno-scientific advance, the ‘affective turn’ in media-culture and posthuman philosophy. My principal method of inquiry into how the apocalypse is imagined or ‘figured’ in sf is the concept of hyperstition – a neologism (combining the words ‘hyper’ and ‘superstition’) coined by the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit (CCRU). Hyperstition describes an aesthetic response whereby cultural fictions – principally, ideas relating to apocalypse – are imagined as transmuting into material realities. I begin by scrutinizing two posthumanist works of theory-fiction (theory written in the mode of sf) by the CCRU and 0rphan Drift which anticipate immanent human extinction and imagine the inception of a new evolutionary cycle of machine-augmented evolution This sensibility is premised on the sociallydestabilising cycles of exponential growth that characterise information-era technological developments, particularly in the digital industries, as well as the accelerated human impact on the natural environment. Central to my argument is the romantic materialist philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari and their concepts of accelerationism, schizoanalysis and Bodies without Organs (BwO’s). Their ontology is constructed around the idea that exponential rates of development necessitate a new aesthetic paradigm that ventures beyond philosophies of human access. The narrative of apocalypse, approached from this perspective, can be interpreted in catastrophic or anastrophic terms; either as a permanent ending or as the beginning of something radically new. Using hyperstition, I also investigate the sf of Russell Hoban, Michael Swanwick, Brian Stableford, Charles Stross, Dan Simmons, M. John Harrison and Paul McAuley to see not only how these authors interpret the concept of cultural acceleration, but also to identify common threads. Countering the catastrophic ‘death of affect’ postulated by theorists such as Jean Baudrillard and Paul Virilio with the anastrophic rejoinder of cyberdelic information-era countercultures, I conclude by investigating the new ‘affective turn’ in contemporary media theory. The works of theoretical fiction and sf that I investigate are informed, as I demonstrate, by the Situationist techniques of psychogeography, dérive and detournement, as well as by the literary tropes of 18th and 19th century fin de siècle Gothic and dark Romantic fiction.
