Анотація:
Deprea (Solanaceae) is a small South American genus of 10 species occurring in Andean areas from Venezuela to Bolivia. The circumscription of Deprea has been repeatedly modified in recent years, with new species being described and others transferred into or out of the genus. The relationships of Deprea to other genera of Solanaceae are still poorly understood, although it seems to be closely related to Larnax. A phylogenetic analysis was performed to test the monophyly of Deprea. Sequences from three molecular markers (nuclear ITS and waxy and chloroplast psbA-trnH) were analyzed by parsimony and Bayesian methods. All the species of Deprea and Larnax sampled were intermixed in a strongly supported clade in the consensus trees, and therefore the currently recognized Deprea species do not form a monophyletic group. At least four strongly supported clades could be recovered within the Deprea + Larnax assemblage, but the affinities of several species of both genera remained unresolved. Additional sampling including the majority of the Deprea + Larnax species and more representatives of genera in the Physalideae should be done to clarify relationships within the clade and to pinpoint the closest relatives of Deprea + Larnax.

Deprea zamorae Barboza & S. Leiva (Solanaceae), a new species from southern Ecuador (Loja and Zamora–Chinchipe), is described and illustrated. It is most similar to D. cyanocarpa, but differs by the presence of minute teeth on the calyx, the ratio of the corolla tube length to the lobe length, the orientation of the fruiting pedicels, and the color and shape of the fruiting calyx. Its distribution does not overlap with that of any other Deprea species. A key for all Deprea species is provided.

Darcyanthus and Deprea are neotropical nightshade genera with Andean distributions in South America. Here we present an updated distribution and conservation assessment of Darcyanthus spruceanus, Deprea cardenasiana and D. ecuatoriana, including the first report of D. cardenasiana in southern Peru and the monotypic Darcyanthus in western Brazil. In addition, D. ecuatoriana distribution in northern Peru is confirmed after new revision of herbarium material. Deprea cardenasiana occurs in the southern limit of the genus distribution and it had not been recollected after its discovery almost 79 years ago. Deprea ecuatoriana is currently restricted to the montane forests from northern Peru and southern Ecuador. The monotypic Darcyanthus reaches lowland areas, including Amazonian forest in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil. According to IUCN criteria, both D. cardenasiana and D. ecuatoriana are categorized as Endangered whereas Darcyanthus spruceanus is considered as a Least Concern species.

The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has been heavily criticised for its handling of disease outbreaks in recent years by analysts who compare the conduct of officials with the model of evidence-based policy making, finding fault in their use of advisers or decision-making processes. In this article, I take an alternative approach to policy analysis, based on ethnographic research in the department. I explore the day-to-day interactions between scientific experts and policy makers in Defra to understand why policy making takes the form it does and how scientists negotiate their position within this process. I argue that policy making in Defra is organised by socially constructed narratives that help officials and advisers to make sense of their roles in the policy-making process. Drawing on insights from organisational sociology, I analyse the ways in which Defra officials talk about their responsibilities and understanding of their roles. These narratives act as ‘modes of ordering’ that bring about organisational realities by structuring their relationships, influencing the way they use scientific advice and consequently affecting policy outcomes. I outline three modes of ordering that can be identified in Defra – rationalism, bureaucracy and expediency – and demonstrate that they correspond to three complementary images of evidence-based policy making.

ABSTRACTDaptomycin is a potent cyclic lipopeptide antibiotic. It is widely used against various Gram-positive bacterial pathogens. Historically, a poor understanding of the transcriptional regulation of daptomycin biosynthesis has limited the options for targeted genetic engineering toward titer improvement. Here, we isolated a TetR family transcriptional regulator, DepR1, from the industrial producerStreptomyces roseosporusSW0702 using a biotinylateddptEpromoter (dptEp) as a probe. The direct interaction between DepR1 anddptEpthen was confirmed by electrophoretic mobility shift assays and DNase I footprinting assays. The deletion ofdepR1led to a reduction indptEpactivity and the cessation of daptomycin production. TheΔdepR1mutant produced less red pigment and failed to sporulate on R5 medium. This suggests that DepR1 plays a positive role in the control of morphological differentiation. Moreover, DepR1 was positively autoregulated by directly binding to its own promoter. This might account for the positive feedback regulation of daptomycin production. Based on these positive effects, genetic engineering by overexpression ofdepR1raised daptomycin production and shortened the fermentation period both in flask and in fermentor.

A dynamically embedded plate anchor (DEPLA) is a rocket-shaped anchor that comprises a removable central shaft and a set of four flukes. The DEPLA penetrates to a target depth in the seabed by the kinetic energy obtained through free-fall in water. After embedment the central shaft is retrieved leaving the anchor flukes vertically embedded in the seabed. The flukes constitute the load-bearing element as a plate anchor. This paper focuses on the dynamic installation of the DEPLA. Net resistance and velocity profiles are derived from acceleration data measured by an inertial measurement unit during DEPLA field tests, which are compared with corresponding theoretical profiles based on strain rate–enhanced shear resistance and fluid mechanics drag resistance. Comparison of the measured net resistance force profiles with the model predictions shows fair agreement at 1:12 scale and good agreement at 1:7.2 and 1:4.5 scales. For all scales the embedment model predicts the final anchor embedment depth to a high degree of accuracy.

Two main data sources are used for longitudinal analysis of diets: food balance sheets on food supply (FBS) and household budget surveys on food purchased (HBS). Methods: We used UK longitudinal dietary data on food supply, provided by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) (FAO-FBS, 1961-2018), and food purchases, provided by Defra (Defra-HBS, 1942-2018). We assessed how trends in dietary change per capita compared between FAO-FBS and Defra-HBS for calories, meat and fish, nuts and pulses, and dairy, and how disparities have changed over time. Results: FAO-FBS estimates were significantly higher (p<0.001) than Defra-HBS for calorie intake and all food types, except nuts and pulses which were significantly lower (p<0.001). These differences are partly due to inclusion of retail waste in FAO-FBS data and under-reporting in Defra- HBS data. The disparities between the two datasets increased over time for calories, meat and dairy; did not change for fish; and decreased for nuts and pulses . Between 1961 and 2018, both FAO-FBS and Defra-FBS showed an increase in meat intake (+11.5% and +1.4%, respectively) and a decrease in fish (-3.3% and -3.2%, respectively) and dairy intake (-11.2% and -22.4%). Temporal trends did not agree between the two datasets for calories, and nuts and pulses. Conclusions: Our finding raises questions over the robustness of both data sources for monitoring UK dietary change, especially when used for evidence-based decision making around health, climate change and sustainability.

To solve the problem of the large axial size of high-power microwave (HPM) reflectarray antenna and difficulty in vacuum packaging, a dielectric is introduced in the design of the antenna element. On this basis, a dielectric embedded metasurface reflectarray antenna (DEMRA) with high power handling capacity and wide-range beam scanning capability is proposed and fabricated. Compared with traditional HPM antennas, the DEMRA does not need to be sealed and can work directly in open-air conditions. The DEMRA can realize free regulation of the radiation beam within a cone angle of 90° and has a power handling capacity of 1 GW/m2. As verification, a protype working at 10 GHz is fabricated and low-power experiments are carried out. Experimental results are consistent with the simulation, proving that the DEMRA has a bandwidth exceeding 600 MHz. During the scanning process, the aperture efficiency is always higher than 48.98%, and the side lobe level remains below −15 dB. At the same time, the cross-polarization component is less than −15 dB, while the main lobe-axis ratio remains within 4.5 dB, confirming its beam scanning capability.

Abstract Objective Four quadrant osteoplastic decompressive craniotomy (FoQOsD) has been described as a novel technique in the management of patients with traumatic brain injury requiring decompressive surgery. There has not been a randomized controlled trial comparing its outcomes with conventional decompressive craniectomy (DECRA) as yet. Methods A randomized controlled trial of 55 patients was conducted, of whom 29 underwent DECRA and 26 patients underwent FoQOsD. The preoperative baseline demographics, clinical conditions, and radiologic features were similar in both the groups. Clinical outcome was decided by the use of Glasgow coma outcome scale extended (GOS-e) at 3 months. Radiographic outcomes were assessed by measurement of the change in midline shift and brain width expansion (ipsilateral and contra-lateral to hematoma) on the postoperative computed tomographic (CT) scan. Results No significant differences were identified in baseline demographics, clinical condition, Rotterdam CT score, and radiographic characteristics between both the groups. At 3-month follow-up, the mean GOS-e score was comparable in both the groups (3.23 in DECRA group and 3.35 in FoQOsD group, p = 0.856). Mortality analysis at 3 months revealed that nine patients died in the DECRA group and eight died in FoQOsD group. Postoperative imaging characteristics, including Rotterdam score, also did not differ significantly. The percentage reduction in midline shift and percentage brain width expansion on the postoperative CT scan was similar in both the groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion FoQOsD appears to be at least as efficacious as DECRA in providing equivalent clinical outcomes with the added benefit of avoiding a second surgery.

Dynamically embedded plate anchors (DEPLAs) are a type of offshore anchor that combine the capacity advantages of vertically loaded plate anchors with the installation benefits of dynamically installed anchors. DEPLA capacity under monotonic loading conditions in clay has been investigated through centrifuge and field tests. In this paper, the monotonic capacity of DEPLAs in normally consolidated clay was studied using a three-dimensional large deformation finite element approach based on frequent mesh regeneration. Results from the numerical simulations were validated by comparison with centrifuge test data and existing numerical and analytical solutions for circular and rectangular plates. The effect of anchor embedment depth, anchor roughness, fluke (or plate) thickness, plate inclination, and DEPLA geometry were investigated in a parametric study where soil was prescribed to remain attached to the DEPLA base. The findings indicate that for a horizontal anchor subjected to vertical loading, most DEPLA geometries exhibit deep behaviour at an embedment ratio of 2.5, but that this embedment ratio is dependent upon the plate inclination, with vertical plates requiring the highest embedment depth for a deep localized failure mechanism. At a shallow embedment depth equal to one plate diameter, the reduction in capacity factor as the plate inclination changes from horizontal to vertical is 23.4%, compared with 1.3% at an embedment depth equal to four plate diameters. Plate roughness and fluke thickness are shown to have a minimal effect on the anchor capacity factor for vertical loading. Analyses that considered the breakaway (no tension) at the DEPLA base demonstrated that the anchor capacity factor approaches the no breakaway value as the embedment depth increases and as the soil strength (relative to the effective unit weight of the soil) decreases. The paper proposes a simple means of approximating the anchor capacity factor for breakaway conditions, by summing the capacity factor in weightless soil (which is unique for a given DEPLA geometry) and the normalized overburden pressure.

In this article, we study the boundary value problem (BVP) for forced diffusion equation with piecewise constant arguments. We give explicit formula for solving BVP. The problem of finding periodic solutions of some differential equations with piecewise constant arguments (DEPCA) is reduced to solving a system of algebraic equations. Using the method of finding periodic solutions of DEPCA, the solutions of BVP are given in several examples which are periodic in time.

Descrever os efeitos do treinamento de força na água (WST) na força muscular e capacidade funcional de idosas após período de destreinamento. Foram recrutadas 188 mulheres (68±5anos) previamente treinadas (Hidroginástica) e mensurada a força muscular (dinamômetro isométrico) e a capacidade funcional (Time Up and Go-TUG e teste de caminhada de 06 minutos-6MWT)sendo avaliado antes da interrupção do programa de Hidroginástica(Hydro), após 12 semanas de destreinamento ( Detra) e após 12 semanas de WST. Os resultados mostraram que a força muscular foi maior após 12 semanas de WST quando comparado Hydro (p0.001) e Detra (p0.001). O WST aumentou a capacidade funcional no 6MWT e TUG quando comparado os períodos Hydro e Detra (p0.001). Concluímos que WST induz a mudanças positivas na performance de força e capacidade funcional de idosas após destreinamento prévio. Ensaios clínicos randomizados são necessários para estabelecer os reais efeitos do WST.
