Three types of mills (Buhler, Quadrumat, and industry mill) have been used to determine the effect of mill type on the quality of the produced flour. Quadrumat and Buhler mills are usually used to produce flour at a laboratory level. Flour quality has been determined physically, chemically, and rheologically. Results showed that the particle size of flour produced by Buhler mill (FPB) was finer (mostly less than 132 μm) than other produced flour, while flour produced by Quadrumat mill (FPQ) had 8% particle size bigger than 50gg, which is more than Iraqi accepted limit (5%). Two copper flotation tailings samples, one from the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, Uzbekistan (sample designated AMMC) and the other from Whitehorse (WT), Yukon, Canada, were bioleached at laboratory scale. Acidophilic, iron- and sulphur-oxidizing cultures were enriched from the two tailings and these cultures were used for the testing. After 24 weeks of bioleaching in percolator columns 70-72% of the copper was leached from the AMMC tailings and 91-93% of the copper was leached from the WT tailings. Tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) were grown in a greenhouse in Arizona in order to determine the effect of aeration, flooding, and exogenously applied benzyladenine (BA) on growth and cytokinin production at different growth stages. The structural changes in roots at different soil environments were also studied. Fresh and dry weight of roots and shoots and root exudate were collected at various stages of growth. This work explores the economic and environmental opportunities for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the Brazilian sugarcane industry. Brazil was one of the first countries to use biomass fuels for transportation and is currently the 2nd largest producer of the world�s bioethanol. Abstract Wear rate data for a range of grinding media (ball) compositions have been determined in a variety of mineral slurries. The data were determined using marked ball tests in 8-inch diameter porcelain laboratory mills in which different environments, i.e., O2, N2 and air, were used. The mode of wear was established qualitatively using scanning electron microscopy examination of the ball surfaces and correlated with the wear data from which the influence of corrosive and abrasive wear mechanisms was postulated.

Abstract Four austenitic and two duplex stainless steels were studied in three different paper mills. Thin aerobic biofilms were observed on the specimens. No SRB (sulphate reducing bacteria) could be detected. The alloy, AISI 304L, suffered from pitting corrosion caused by thiosulphate which was a decomposition product of sodium dithionate. Occasionally very high total chlorine concentrations were noticed in the biofilm but the chlorine was predominantly combined as organic chlorine. A high amount of chlorine can lead to an increased risk of pitting corrosion of stainless steels.

Abstract It has been carried out a test programme to qualify welded super 13%Cr stainless steels for sour service applications. The test programme included weldability trials, weld simulations, mechanical testing and corrosion testing of 13%Cr steels from five different steel mills. Two of the tested steels have been qualified for use as flowline materials in some parts of new sour service fields.
