Анотація:
Service-oriented software systems are inherently complex and have to cope with an increasing number of exceptional conditions in order to meet the system’s dynamic requirements. This work proposes an architecture framework which has exception handling capability. This framework ensures the credibility of service-oriented software, during the architectural stage, by adding exception handling-related architecture elements and modeling exception handling process. It allows a clear separation of concerns between the business function and the exception handling unit, using reflection mechanism. It plays an important guiding role for achieving reliable service-oriented system.

Simulation of dynamic service-based software systems is important for studying services that may change their composition and thus interactions at run-time. An approach based on Service Oriented Architecture-compliant DEVS (SOAD) and Dynamic Structure DEVS (DSDEVS) modeling approaches is developed to support structural changes in service model composition. To achieve this goal, a broker–executive model is devised based on the broker model defined for SOAD and the executive model defined for DSDEVS. The capability to simulate dynamic services is incorporated to the DEVS-Suite simulator. To demonstrate modeling of dynamic service-based software systems, a real voice communication system and a model of this system have been developed. The importance of enabling simulation-based design for adaptable systems is briefly discussed.

A new class of information system architecture, decision-oriented service systems, is spreading more and more. Decision-oriented service systems provide services that support decisions in business processes and products based on the capabilities of cloud-computing environments. To pave the way for the creation of design methods of business processes and products based on decision-oriented service systems, this article introduces a capability-oriented approach. Starting from technological capabilities, more abstract operational and dynamic capabilities are created. The framework created is based on an integrated conceptualization of decision-oriented service systems that allows capturing synergetic effects. By creating the framework, the gap between the technological capabilities of technologies and the strategic goals of enterprises shall be narrowed.

An important feature in collaborative environment is coordination, defined as the act of managing interdependencies between activities performed to achieve a goal. These interdependencies can be the result of loosely integrated collaborative activities (the use of coordination processes within the collaboration activities is not required) or tightly integrated collaborative activities (sophisticated coordination mechanisms are necessary). The existence of both activities along with the dynamic nature of these environments adds a greater complexity to the coordination that has not been taken into account in traditional collaborative systems. In this work, the authors present a partially Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) that defines and maintains dynamic coordination polities in collaborative systems based on coordination models.

An important requirement for a collaborative design platform in Concurrent Engineering (CE) is the integration of various engineering software tools and utilities in product design and development. Some CE platforms based on a client/server architecture or static Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) are available in the marketplace, but they lack flexibility and reliability in the constantly changing Internet environment due to the dynamic nature of the network. Based on the current development of SOA, this paper presents a Service-oriented Collaborative Design platform (SCoD) based on SORCER—a dynamic SOA infrastructure that allows federated integration of engineering software components in CE environments. The architecture of SCoD is proposed, the wrapping methodology used to integrate engineering software tools in SCoD is presented, and the federated method invocation for services in SCoD is described. With the support of SCoD, collaborative design in CE environments can be deployed, and scalability, reliability, and flexibility can be achieved in the changing Internet environment.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) introduced the web services as distributed computing components that can be independently deployed and invoked by other services or software to provide simple or complex tasks. In this paper we propose a novel approach to solve the problem of the business processes execution engine web service selection and services composition in the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) related to the Synchronous mode.  The paper provides a mechanism to improve the web services selection and service composition, using dynamic web services and service composition classification and Simulated Annealing (SA) to satisfy services' requirements expressed as the Service Level Agreement (SLA). The results show that the proposed approach enhanced the services composition by increasing the availability and decreasing the response time to the service composite.

Service-oriented workflows are the fundamental structures in service-oriented applications and changes in the workflow could cause dramatic changes in system reliability. In several ways to re-heal workflows in execution, re-sizing service pools in the workflow is practical and easy to implement. In order to quickly adjust to workflow or environmental changes, this paper presents a dynamic service pool size configuration mechanism from the point of view of maintaining workflow reliability. An architecture-based reliability model is used to evaluate the overall reliability of a workflow with service pools and an optimal method is proposed to get the combination of service pool size aiming at minimizing the sum of service pool size subject to the workflow reliability requirement. A case study is used to explain this method and experiment results show how to change service pool size to meet the workflow reliability requirements.

The work presents the essence of problems appearing in the ICT security management process in the context of systems characterized by significant dynamics of configuration and heterogeneity of resources both in the hardware and software layer. Basic differences in security management in systems with traditional centralized and monolithic architecture as well as in systems with service-oriented architecture have been presented. A layered reference model for service-oriented systems taking account of the basic goals of ICT security for dynamic information systems has been discussed. The basic assumptions of the multi-agent ICT security analysis system in service-oriented systems as well as the results of the safety analysis, including the correlation between events observed in low and high layers of the reference model have been discussed.

Traffic information service plays an important role in one’s daily life. However, traffic information processing is very complicated because of its dynamic, cooperative and distributed features. This paper presents the Service and Monitoring Oriented Traffic Information Grid. In this system, it is a remarkable characteristic to provide real-time, dynamic information services for travelers and traffic managers by grid technology. The system provides travelers with services of optimized route scheme, bus arrival prediction based on real-time route status, and route status forecast. For traffic managers, the system can provide vehicle tracing, traffic monitoring, history data analysis, and decision making on traffic control strategy. In this regard, key research includes large multi-source traffic data integration, route status forecast, and optimum dynamic travel scheme implementation based on massive GPS data.

One of the main observed gains of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) is the ability to compose new services to achieve high level functionalities. Thus, it is necessary to organize services in a manner to achieve this goal automatically and easily. Furthermore, the emergence of wireless technologies and intelligent mobile devices has enabled the creation of a new kind of services called context-aware composite services. In this paper, the authors aim to present their Context-Aware Composite Service (CACS) metamodel for design and development of these services, and, a dedicated tool called MA2C (A Mediator Architecture for Context-aware Composition) responsible of their dynamic generation and execution.

According to the characteristics of the information resources in modern acquisition, such as heterogeneous, distributed, loosely coupled, the problems and deficiencies of workflow technology and products were analyzed. Dynamic service grouping strategies based on SOA was proposed and was proved in theory. In addition, the workflow architecture based on SOA was built and the workflow engine of simulation-based acquisition (SBA) was designed. Therefore, the legacy code can be wrapped and the service can be grouped dynamically from the dynamic generic service factory. Grouping strategy was proved according to the SPOT satellite image application which was part of the SBA toolbox on grid. Experimental results show that: services grouping of a workflow can reduce the total overhead induced by the submission, scheduling, queuing and data transfer time. On a production grid infrastructure, the optimization proposed introduces a significant speed-up when compared to a traditional execution. The range is from 1.21 to 2.97.

Abstract Modern surgical departments are characterized by a high degree of automation supporting complex procedures. It recently became apparent that integrated operating rooms can improve the quality of care, simplify clinical workflows, and mitigate equipment-related incidents and human errors. Particularly using computer assistance based on data from integrated surgical devices is a promising opportunity. However, the lack of manufacturer-independent interoperability often prevents the deployment of collaborative assistive systems. The German flagship project OR.NET has therefore developed, implemented, validated, and standardized concepts for open medical device interoperability. This paper describes the universal OR.NET interoperability concept enabling a safe and dynamic manufacturer-independent interconnection of point-of-care (PoC) medical devices in the operating room and the whole clinic. It is based on a protocol specifically addressing the requirements of device-to-device communication, yet also provides solutions for connecting the clinical information technology (IT) infrastructure. We present the concept of a service-oriented medical device architecture (SOMDA) as well as an introduction to the technical specification implementing the SOMDA paradigm, currently being standardized within the IEEE 11073 service-oriented device connectivity (SDC) series. In addition, the Session concept is introduced as a key enabler for safe device interconnection in highly dynamic ensembles of networked medical devices; and finally, some security aspects of a SOMDA are discussed.

Service-oriented architectures (SOA) are being adopted in a variety of industries. Some of them must support real-time activities. In this article, the authors present RT-Llama, a novel architecture for real-time SOA to support predictability in business processes. Upon receiving a user-requested process and deadline, our proposed architecture can reserve resources in advance for each service in the process to ensure it meets its end-to-end deadline. The architecture contains global resource management and business process composition components. They also create a real-time enterprise middleware that manages utilization of local resources by using efficient data structures and handles service requests via reserved CPU bandwidth. They demonstrate that RT-Llama’s reservation components are both effective and adaptable to dynamic real-time environments.

The design of a service-oriented architecture for multisensor surveillance in smart homes is presented as an integrated solution enabling automatic deployment, dynamic selection, and composition of sensors. Sensors are implemented as Web-connected devices, with a uniform Web API. RESTdesc is used to describe the sensors and a novel solution is presented to automatically compose Web APIs that can be applied with existing Semantic Web reasoners. We evaluated the solution by building a smart Kinect sensor that is able to dynamically switch between IR and RGB and optimizing person detection by incorporating feedback from pressure sensors, as such demonstrating the collaboration among sensors to enhance detection of complex events. The performance results show that the platform scales for many Web APIs as composition time remains limited to a few hundred milliseconds in almost all cases.

The need for data sharing across heterogeneous data sources is growing. Peer Database Management Systems (PDBMSs) offer one data sharing approach, which favors a direct and dynamic node-to-node model of communication with no centralized control. Moreover, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) using Web service technologies allow users to leverage existing assets towards the goal of building new architectures and integrating existing systems that can be componentized. We propose an Open Service Architecture for PDBMSs (OSAP). This architecture offers the main services of a PDBMS as Web services that are invoked via the communication network using a set of well-defined interfaces. This approach provides power and flexibility in terms of development and usage of the system. We have implemented this architecture within the Hyperion PDBMS infrastructure. We provide an analysis of the implementation of the OSAP architecture in terms of its characteristics. We also conduct a performance comparison with both the original Hyperion architecture, and a much simpler architecture that hides all the internal functionalities offered by a PDBMS as private processes that can be used by other peers only through one single web service which acts as peer manager.

Анотація:
With the development of the vehicular network, BusNet-based service is of great interest to both bus companies and public users. How to provide service and ensure service quality is considered as key points for the promotion of such kinds of applications. In this paper, a system architecture, which is designed based on multiaccess edge computing (MEC) architecture and software-defined network (SDN), is proposed. Moreover, considering the problem of the dynamicity of the network, a new routing path optimization algorithm, SPSO (serial particle swarm optimization), is proposed, while a dynamic weight matrix is used to improve routing performance. The comprehensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can well adapt to the dynamic change of network topology and improve communication performance significantly.

This paper presents an Execution Management System (EMS) for Grid services that builds on the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) while achieving “mobile awareness” by establishing a WS-Notification mechanism with mobile network session middleware. It builds heavily on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), used for managing sessions with mobile terminals (such as laptops and PDAs) where the services are running. Although the management of mobile services is different to that of ubiquitous services, the enhanced EMS manages both of them in a seamless fashion and incorporates all resources into one Mobile Dynamic Virtual Organization (MDVO). The described EMS has been implemented within the framework of the Akogrimo EU IST project and has been used to support mission critical application scenarios in public demonstrations, including composite and distributed applications made of both ubiquitous and mobile services within multiple domains.

Service-oriented architecture is a widely accepted service used for supporting consolidation and integration functions under an enterprise system which are complex in nature but with an intelligent framework which helps in integrating the services in an optimistic and dynamic manner for getting the task done. For any service-oriented architecture-based application, its services are the main components, as it requires service compositions for answering various requests. There exist many possible service compositions for completing a task. To find an optimum composition from those dynamically present during run time is another crucial aspect for the success of this architecture. The present research elaborated a novel idea for optimal composition of services in SOA or any other service-based system. This paper covers a case study along with the outcomes of the experiment which indicates the efficiency and validity of the proposed technique.

Purpose Any computing architecture cannot be designed with complete confidentiality. As a result, at any point, it may leak the information. So, it is important to decide leakage threshold in any computing architecture. To prevent leakage more than the predefined threshold, quantitative analysis is helpful. This paper aims to provide a method to quantify information leakage in service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based Web services. Design/methodology/approach To visualize the dynamic binding of SOA components, first, the orchestration of components is modeled. The modeling helps to information-theoretically quantify information leakage in SOA-based Web services. Then, the paper considers the non-interference policy in a global way to quantify information leakage. It considers not only variables which interfere with security sensitive content but also other architectural parameters to quantify leakage in Web services. To illustrate the attacker’s ability, a strong threat model has been proposed in the paper. Findings The paper finds that information leakage can be quantified in SOA-based Web services by considering parameters that interfere with security sensitive content and information theory. A hypothetical case study scenario of flight ticket booking Web services has been considered in the present paper in which leakage of 18.89 per cent information is calculated. Originality/value The paper shows that it is practically possible to quantify information leakage in SOA-based Web services. While modeling the SOA-based Web services, it will be of help to architects to identify parameters which may cause the leakage of secret contents.

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) has gained considerable popularity for the development of large-scale distributed software systems. The SOA paradigm promotes the reusability and integrability of software in heterogeneous environments by means of open standards. The existing problem is that every service-oriented software development project often requires a customized development process that provides specific service-oriented software in support of requirements unique to that project. To resolve this problem, this study proposes universal service-oriented software (USOS). USOS focuses on the general simulation technology and integrates many features, which are necessary to build a correct and efficient simulation system. It is aimed at providing a professional environment to reduce the cost of modeling as well as the execution time of the simulation for multi-type models. USOS supports many advanced features such as dynamic model template generation, multi-formalism model debugging, flexible model-driven application, etc. Developers may use USOS as an open framework to build, store, and verify models very efficiently. Based on USOS, we have developed a large-scale parallel simulation platform called SIM, which is oriented to test parallel and distributed architectures, and applications in the aerospace domain. This study introduces the distinctive features of USOS for practical implementation of SIM and validates the performance by a prototype system simulation.

Firstly, fault tolerance strategies are categorized into static and dynamic fault tolerance according to the phase of their adoption. Secondly, we review various static fault tolerance strategies. Then, dynamic fault tolerance implementation mechanisms are analyzed. Finally, main challenges confronted by fault tolerance for composite service are reviewed.

In this paper the authors present the design and software development of an E-learning system based on a multi-agent (MAS) architecture. The multi-agent architecture is established on the client-server model. The MAS architecture is combined with the Dynamic Content Manager (DCM) model of E-learning developed at Bergen University College, Norway. The authors first present the quality requirements of the system before they describe the architectural decisions taken. They then evaluate and discuss the benefits of using a multi-agent architecture. Finally, the MAS architecture is compared with a pure service-oriented architecture (SOA) to observe that a MAS architecture has a lot of the same qualities as this architecture, in addition to some new ones.

The increasing quality and various requirements of network services are guaranteed because of the advancement of the emerging network paradigm, software-defined networking (SDN), and benefits from the centralized and software-defined architecture. The SDN not only facilitates the configuration of the network policies for traffic engineering but also brings convenience for network state obtainment. The traffic of numerous services is transmitted within a network, whereas each service may demand different network metrics, such as low latency or low packet loss rate. Corresponding quality of service policies must be enforced to meet the requirements of different services, and the balance of link utilization is also indispensable. In this research, Reinforcement Discrete Learning-Based Service-Oriented Multipath Routing (RED-STAR) has been proposed to understand the policy of distributing an optimal path for each service. The RED-STAR takes the network state and service type as input values to dynamically select the path a service must be forwarded. Custom protocols are designed for network state obtainment, and a deep learning-based traffic classification model is also integrated to identify network services. With the differentiated reward scheme for every service type, the reinforcement learning model in RED-STAR gradually achieves high reward values in various scenarios. The experimental results show that RED-STAR can adopt the dynamic network environment, obtaining the highest average reward value of 1.8579 and the lowest average maximum bandwidth utilization of 0.3601 among all path distribution schemes in a real-case scenario.

Communication network can be treated as a complex network carrying a variety of services and service can be treated as a network composed of functional entities. There are growing interests in multiplex service entities where individual entity and link can be used for different services simultaneously. Entities and their relationships constitute a service entity network. In this paper, we introduced a service entity network virtualization architecture including service entity network hierarchical model, service entity network model, service implementation and deployment of service entity networks. Service entity network oriented multiplex planning model were also studied and many of these multiplex models were characterized by a significant multiplex of the links or entities in different service entity network. Service entity networks were mapped onto shared physical resources by dynamic resource allocation controller. The efficiency of the proposed architecture was illustrated in a simulation environment that allows for comparative performance evaluation. The results show that, compared to traditional networking architecture, this architecture has a better performance.

To deal with the complex design issues of Dynamically Reconfigurable Systems-on-Chip (DRSoCs), it is extremely relevant to raise the abstraction level in which models are expressed. A high abstraction level allows great flexibility and reusability while bypassing low-level implementation details. In this context, model-driven engineering (MDE) provides support to build and transform precise and structured models for a particular purpose at different levels of abstraction. Indeed, high-level models are successively refined to low-level models until reaching the executable ones. Thus, this paper presents an MDE-based framework for DRSoCs design enabling the transformation of UML/MARTE specifications to SystemC/TLM implementation. To achieve a high degree of expressiveness for modeling dynamic reconfiguration, we use a suitable software engineering approach based on service-oriented component architecture. Since MARTE does not cover the common features of dynamic reconfiguration domain and service orientation concepts, new stereotypes are created by refinement to add missing capabilities to the profile. Likewise, SystemC does not provide native support for dynamic reconfiguration, thus leading us to adopt a design pattern based solution for DRSoCs implementation in compliance with standards. The proposed framework is validated through a reconfigurable active 3-way crossover case study in which we demonstrate the practicability of the approach by gradual model transformations with reduced implementation effort and significant design productivity gain.

Wireless sensor network based on service-oriented architecture has provided important support for Internet of Things in smart city; therefore, multi-requests can be satisfied through service composition. However, as the number and complexity of requests increase, the dynamic and low energy of sensors in wireless sensor network gradually limit the development of the service-oriented architecture in Internet of Things; therefore, optimizing energy under the condition that multi-requests can be satisfied in the dynamic wireless sensor network becomes an important problem. To address this challenge, first, this paper analyzes the mobility of sensors to predict the path stability and manage the information and capabilities on them so that we can find the satisfactory service provider candidates. Then, this article proposes a service mapping pre-process to achieve the work flow reduction in a service layer to save energy in advance and a service mapping process to find the optimal sensors in a network layer that can satisfy the requests. Simulation results show that our strategies can achieve the goal of energy conservation, load balancing, and network lifetime extension under the premise of guaranteeing requests function and non-function attributes and have better performance than traditional ones.

Service-oriented architecture (SOA) for distributed computing has become increasingly popular due to the big advantage that distributed applications can be rapidly synthesized with the needed services provided by various service providers through heterogeneous networks. Systems based on SOA are called Service-based Systems (SBS), and a special variety of SBS, namely the Adaptive Service-Based Systems (ASBS), is aimed to be adaptable to constantly changing user requirements, environments and resource constraints. An important and difficult issue is how to design and develop ASBS to satisfy multiple QoS requirements in an open dynamic environment. In this paper, inspired by the underlying principle of hierarchical intelligent control, a three-layer architecture for developing and deploying ASBS is presented to address this issue. Compared with existing architectures for SBS, the advantage of using our architecture is that it provides the flexibility for system designers to adopt different control based approaches to guarantee user requirements and satisfy resource constraints at different levels of the system. Moreover, our architecture enables the system to take hierarchical adaptation actions at runtime to avoid possible violation of user requirement or resource constraint. An example is given to illustrate how to adopt our architecture to guide the design of a simple ASBS, and preliminary experimental data are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of developing ASBS based on our architecture.

Risk management in global information technology (IT) projects is becoming a critical area of concern for practitioners. Global IT projects usually span multiple locations involving various culturally diverse groups that use multiple standards and technologies. These multiplicities cause dynamic risks through interactions among internal (i.e., people, process, and technology) and external elements (i.e., business and natural environments) of global IT projects. This study proposes an agile risk-management framework for global IT project settings. By analyzing the dynamic interactions among multiplicities (e.g., multi-locations, multi-cultures, multi-groups, and multi-interests) embedded in the project elements, we identify the dynamic risks threatening the success of a global IT project. Adopting the principles of service-oriented architecture (SOA), we further propose a set of agile management strategies for mitigating the dynamic risks. The mitigation strategies are conceptually validated. The proposed framework will help practitioners understand the potential risks in their global IT projects and resolve their complex situations when certain types of dynamic risks arise.

Web Service Composition is one of the technologies in Service Oriented Architecture which significantly increases the flexibility and reusability of developing service-oriented system. One of the major problems which occurs in web service composition is the difficulties of maintaining the existing running web service composition solutions due to the changes of business requirements, deployment environment, and other dynamic factors. In this proposed work, an automated system had been built to autonomously execute the web service composition. To achieve this objective, the authors had embedded semantic engine and Prolog in C# program to automatically and dynamically discover, compose and execute web service composition, i.e. a web service composition could be self-configured to automatically recover from execution failure and automatically re-generate composition solution due to business protocol changes.
