The victim’s right to receive information during criminal proceedings is aimed at ensuring protection of the victim’s interests in a fair regulation of criminal legal relations. However, the institute of the secret of investigation as a means to protect impartiality of the proceedings and the offender’s right to a fair trial, limits the victim’s ability to be informed. This paper attempts to identify a reasonable balance between the victim’s right to information and the secret of investigation.
