Анотація:
A regular wormhole solution in gravity coupled with a phantom scalar and electromagnetic fields is found. The solution exists for a special choice of the parameter f of the potential term. The mass m of a wormhole filled with a phantom and electrostatic fields is calculated. It is shown that close to some point f0, a small value of the mass m is the remainder of two large masses of the phantom and electrostatic fields. The connection with the renormalization procedure in quantum filed theory is considered. The connection between Wheeler's idea "mass without mass" and renormalization procedure in quantum field theory is discussed.

Анотація:
In order to eliminate the negative effect of pressure effect-continuation effect and not to affect drilling liquid washing the bottom of hole in nearly balanced drilling. This paper mainly presents the structure design method based on the nearly balanced drilling device theory, makes use of numerical simulation technology to analyze accurately the flow filed of drilling liquid in the certain working condition and uses k-ε model to simulation this problem. Simulation results show the pressure field and velocity field is consistent with the design requirements.

Анотація:
The purpose of this article was to analyze the impeachment process that took place in Brazil in 2016 and through Game Theory. Three games were created with the following players: president of the Chamber of Deputies, the National Congress, the president of the Republic and his deputy. The games take place via perfect but incomplete information. The theme is current, relevant and without studies that relate to Game Theory. Therefore, unprecedented. We tried to show the possible results and the political aspects and it was concluded that in most of the cases the filed cases. Between 1990 and 2018 the suggested game was played 193 times, judging by the number of complaints filed, of which only 2 were filed. Finally, this work showed the movements of the parties between the 2014 election and the impeachment vote in 2016, suggesting that the referred process is also a political judgment. Not just criminal.

Анотація:
An overview on the development of hybrid fundamental solution based finite element method (HFS-FEM) and its application in engineering problems is presented in this paper. The framework and formulations of HFS-FEM for potential problem, plane elasticity, three-dimensional elasticity, thermoelasticity, anisotropic elasticity, and plane piezoelectricity are presented. In this method, two independent assumed fields (intraelement filed and auxiliary frame field) are employed. The formulations for all cases are derived from the modified variational functionals and the fundamental solutions to a given problem. Generation of elemental stiffness equations from the modified variational principle is also described. Typical numerical examples are given to demonstrate the validity and performance of the HFS-FEM. Finally, a brief summary of the approach is provided and future trends in this field are identified.

Abstract The theory of averaging is a classical component of applied mathematics and has been applied to solve some engineering problems, such as in the filed of control engineering. In this paper, we develop a theory of averaging on both finite and infinite time intervals for fractional non-autonomous differential equations. The closeness of the solutions of fractional no-autonomous differential equations and the averaged equations has been proved. The main results of the paper are applied to the switched capacitor voltage inverter modeling problem which is described by the fractional differential equations.

Анотація:
In this paper, transverse vibration analysis of rotating micro-beam is investigated based on the modified couple stress theory. The simply-supported micro-beam is modeled utilizing Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam theories. The system is rotating around a fixed axis perpendicular to the axial direction of the beam. For the first time, displacement filed is introduced as a coupled field to the translational field. In other words, the mentioned rotational displacement field is expressed as a proportional function of translational displacement field using first (axial), second (lateral), and third (angular or rotational) velocity factors. Utilizing Hamilton’s approach as a variational method, dynamic-vibration equations of motion of the proposed model are derived. Galerkin’s method is adopted to solve the equation corresponding to the Euler–Bernoulli and Timoshenko beams. For the case considering shear deformation effects, Navier method is chosen. For evaluation of current results and models, they are compared with those available at the benchmark. In this paper; effects of slenderness ratio, axial, lateral, and angular velocity factors, and rotations of the beam on the frequency are reported. Based on the results presented, mentioned factors should be counted in the analysis and design of such rotating micro-systems.

We show that any 3D topological quantum field theory satisfying physically reasonable factorizability conditions has associated to it in a natural way a Hopf algebra object in a suitable tensor category. We also show that all objects in the tensor category have the structure of left-left crossed bimodules over the Hopf algebra object. For 4D factorizable topological quantum filed theories, we provide by analogous methods a construction of a Hopf algebra category.

Based on unsaturated soil seepage and shear strength theory , to explore the pore pressure dissipation law , it has been analyzed seepage about slope of deep foundation pit in Xian , supporting by pile-anchor retaining structure under the condition of continuous rainy by MIDAS software . The simulation result shows a temporary saturated region would appear on the surface of slope in continuous rainy days , then soil water content increasing as the rainwater infiltrate into a deeper soil layer gradually .For the sake of different cohesion of different time , Combine moisture filed , coming from pore pressure field , with the functional relationship between water content and cohesion , of simulated with filed test dates .The influence law of continuous rainy is derived from stability analysis by strength reduction fem about slope safety factor and stress of retaining structure .

This paper briefs some of recent works on applications of the smoothed finite element method (SFEM) to fracture problems. In the SFEM formulation for simulating the singular filed near the crack-tip, it is known that one can directly enrich the filed by adding in proper terms needed to simulate the singularity, which can be done in a number of ways (see the SFEM book). In this work a generalized technique called the "enriched linear PIM" for constructing shape functions is used to formulate a special "five-node (T5) singular crack-tip element" that can produce a proper order of stress singularity near the crack-tip. One layer of T5 crack-tip singular elements are used in a basic mesh of linear elements leading to a very simple model that can be crated automatically for complicated geometry. Because the SFEM uses weakened weak formulations, such a simple model does not require transition elements and the compatibility is ensured. In addition, the singular terms of functions as well as mapping procedures are no longer necessary to compute the stiffness matrix. Thus, the singular SFEM method is straightforward and can be easily implemented in the existing codes. The stress intensity factors of mix-modes can also be easily evaluated by an appropriate treatment during the domain form of the interaction integral, due to the use of simple triangular mesh. The effectiveness of the present singular T5 element is demonstrated via benchmark examples.

Анотація:
To support modern requirements for an induction electric drive of pipeline valves, the most promising is the organization of a filed oriented control system, the setting of which is extremely difficult without the parameters of the equivalent circuit of an induction machine. This article provides a technique of setting a field oriented control system for induction electric drive of pipeline valves based on equivalent circuit parameters, estimated by falling phase current curve. The main aim of the research is to test the functioning of an induction filed oriented electric drive using a load stand, the setting of which is made on the basis of parameters previously estimated by falling phase current curve. Methods. To achieve the goal of the research, theoretical and experimental research methods were used. Theoretical research methods include the theory of electric drive, the theory of automatic control systems, the theory of electrical machines. Experimental research were carried out using a load stand that provides the required level of load on the shaft of the tested induction machine. Results. Suggested the technique of setting a field oriented control system for induction electric drive of pipeline valves based on equivalent circuit parameters, estimated by falling phase current curve. Relative values of deviations of current, speed and torque are obtained at the nominal level of load on the shaft of an induction machine. The applicability of the proposed technique using a loading stand was confirmed.

Based on the experiment of reciprocating grinding and in accordance with Jaeger moving heat source theory and the triangle model of the heat source, this paper established temperature filed of grinding-hardening machine and conducted numerical calculation with the temperature filed of grinding by the software ANSYS. Then it predicated the grinding-hardened layers depth in accordance with the results of numerical calculation, and compared with the experimental results to verify the rationality of the simulation results.

This paper revisits modernisation theory in relation to the nature of education in Africa. It examines how schools actually operate in ‘prismatic’ societies in general before focusing on a study of educational decentralisation in Uganda. The study used interviews, observation, documentation and filed notes to explore the ways in which a policy of educational decentralisation actually played out. From the study eight themes emerged illustrating how educational policy established at national and international levels can be interpreted and distorted by local cultural values and behaviours.

Анотація:
The Brillouin function, the phase transition and the related magnetic properties in La0.62Er0.05Ba0.33Fe0.2Mn0.8O3 perovskite have been studied using Bean-Rodbell model. The Brillouin function allows determining the total momentum J and the mean filed exchange parameter λ of the perovskite. The mean-filed equation draws the system to second order phase transition. These constants were used to stimulate the experimental isotherms M (H, T) by meanfield theory. The predicted results are compared to the available experimental data. It is noted that a good agreement has been found, with minor discrepancies, between theoretical and experimental data.

The completeness of some classical statistical mechanical (SM) models is a recent result that has been developed by quantum formalism for the partition functions. In this paper, we consider a 2D classical [Formula: see text] filed theory whose completeness has been proved in [V. Karimipour and M. H. Zarei, Phys. Rev. A 85 (2012) 032316]. We give a new and general systematic proof for the completeness of such a model where, by a few simple steps, we show how the partition function of an arbitrary classical field theory can be derived from a 2D classical [Formula: see text] model. To this end, we start from various classical field theories containing models on arbitrary lattices and also [Formula: see text] lattice gauge theories. Then we convert them to a new classical field model on a nonplanar bipartite graph with imaginary kinetic terms. After that, we show that any polynomial function of the field in the corresponding Hamiltonian can approximately be converted to a [Formula: see text] term by adding enough numbers of vertices to the bipartite graph. In the next step, we give a few graphical transformations to convert the final nonplanar graph to a 2D rectangular lattice. We also show that the number of vertices which should be added grows polynomially with the number of vertices in the original model.

This paper studies several factors that affect the reliability of established structures .The theory of Data Mining is introduced into this paper as a new method to study the evaluation of established structures. New information is ultimately mined from “Data Sea” filed up in existed structures. According to the Chinese Structure Code and engineering experience, the factors affecting the reliability of structures are properly qualified as input parameters. This paper mainly researches with engineering structural examples on the theory of fuzzy cluster, which belong to the field of Data Mining. According to the analysis of the methods, it is found that the method put forward in this paper is practicable, reliable and effective.

Based on the Generalized Plastic Mechanics (GPM) and strain gradient-dependence of yield surfaces, the differential expressions of the volumetric and shear plastic strains are constructed, then the Generalized Gradient-dependent Plastic Mechanics (GGPM) is established to describe the strain localization characteristics and the basic mechanics characteristics of geo-materials. In order to discretize the controlling equations and the boundary conditions of analyses filed, an increment functional in which the displacement and plastic multipliers are independent variables was constructed to build up the variational principle of GGPM. Both the displacement and the plastical factor are discretized in space. A set of non-linear equations taking the displacements and the plastic factors of nodes as the unknown variables are obtained to solve the new proposed mechanic model. The boundary condition and the increment algorithm are also given. The numerical examples indicate that: (1) when strain localization appears,the plastic shear strain and the plastic volumetric strain mainly concentrate in localization band; (2) the mesh- dependency does not appear any more when the size of mesh changes; (3) when the parameters reflecting localization increase,the width of the strain localization band will be wider obviously.

Анотація:
The numerical investigation on the wet steam flow in the last two stages of a 1000 MW fossil-fired low pressure steam turbine is presented in this paper. The non-equilibrium model via the classical nucleation theory is employed to simulate the condensing flow of the wet steam. The characteristics of the flow filed from design condition to low volume flow condition are calculated and the static performance of last stage moving blade is also obtained. The development of the backflow phenomenon is clearly captured through the analysis of the velocity triangle.

First principles calculations based on the density functional theory (DFT) are employed to estimate the electronic structures of bilayer heterostructure of MoS2/WS2. The dependences of the band structures on external electric field and interlayer separation are evaluated. The external electric filed induces a semiconductor-metal transition. At the same time, a larger interlayer separation, corresponding to a weaker interlayer interaction, makes an indirect-direct band gap transition happen for the heterojunction. Our results demonstrate that electronic structure tailoring of two-dimensional layered materials should include both spatial symmetry control and interlayer vdW interactions engineering.

Анотація:
The emergence of the quantum gravitational effects in a very high energy regime necessitates some corrections to the thermodynamics of black holes. In this letter, we investigate a possible modification to the thermodynamics of Schwarzschild anti-de Sitter (SAdS) black holes due to rainbow gravity model. Using the correspondence between a (d+1)-dimensional SAdS black hole and a conformal filed theory ind-dimensional spacetime, one may find the corrections to the Cardy-Verlinde formula from the modified thermodynamics of the black hole. Furthermore, we show that the corrected Cardy-Verlinde formula can also be derived by redefining the Virasoro operator and the central charge.

In this communication, we summarize the current advances in size-dependent continuum plasticity of crystals, specifically, the rate-independent (quasistatic) formulation, on the basis of dislocation mechanics. A particular emphasis is placed on relaxation of slip at interfaces. This unsolved problem is the current frontier of research in plasticity of crystalline materials. We outline a framework for further investigation, based on the developed theory for the bulk crystal. The bulk theory is based on the concept of geometrically necessary dislocations, specifically, on configurations where dislocations pile-up against interfaces. The average spacing of slip planes provides a characteristic length for the theory. The physical interpretation of the free energy includes the error in elastic interaction energies resulting from coarse representation of dislocation density fields. Continuum kinematics is determined by the fact that dislocation pile-ups have singular distribution, which allows us to represent the dense dislocation field at the boundary as a superdislocation, i.e., the jump in the slip filed. Associated with this jump is a slip-dependent interface energy, which in turn, makes this formulation suitable for analysis of interface relaxation mechanisms.

The theory of Bloch electron dynamics in spatially homogeneous electric fields of arbitrary strength and time dependence is presented. In the formalism, the electric field is described through the use of the vector potential, and the instantaneous eigenstates of the Hamiltonian are used as basis stated to depict the Bloch dynamics and quantum properties. This approach leads to a natural indication of high- and low-filed limits, and allows for the inclusion of general band-structure effects and multiband coupling in the quantum dynamics. A variety of dc electric field effects, such as Bloch oscillations, Zener tunneling, and localization, and ac electric field effects, such as interband absorption, and phonon-assisted transport, will be discussed.

Анотація:
The basic theory of temperature field and stress field of concrete and 3D FEM combining with cooling pipe discrete model and iteration method are used to carry out the dynamic simulation analysis of the temperature filed and stress field of a concrete gravity dam of South-to-North Water Diversion Project. The impacts on cracking mechanism of the surface insulation, internal cooling and environmental climate are considered in calculation. The change laws of temperature field and thermal stress with time and their distributions are analyzed, reasonable temperature control measures are put forward for reference. The results show that good effect of temperature control and cracking prevention is achieved, the proposed measures should have great reference significance to the similar concrete dam in future.

In some cases such as assembling nanodevices and nanobiosensing, the effect of electric filed on the mechanical properties of nanomaterials is important and should be taken into account. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of electric field on the mechanical properties of hexagonal boron-nitride (h-BN) using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The results show the high sensitivity of mechanical properties to the magnitude and direction of electric field. It is observed that imposing the electric field on the armchair direction, unlike the zigzag direction, increases the magnitude of elastic properties of h-BN especially in the case of Poisson's ratio. It is further observed that the electric field perpendicular to h-BN has a negligible effect on its mechanical properties.

Then on the basis of that, proceeded the noise analysis of the turbocharger compressor, which provides theory basis for the design of turbocharger compressor noise reduction.

Accretion disc theory was first developed as a theory with the local heat balance, where the whole energy produced by a viscous heating was emitted to the sides of the disc. One of the most important new invention of this theory was a phenomenological treatment of the turbulent viscosity, known as “alpha” prescription, when the(rϕ)component of the stress tensor was approximated by(αP)with a unknown constantαThis prescription played the role in the accretion disc theory as well important as the mixing-length theory of convection for stellar evolution. Sources of turbulence in the accretion disc are discussed, including nonlinear hydrodynamic turbulence, convection and magnetic filed role. In parallel to the optically thick geometrically thin accretion disc models, a new branch of the optically thin accretion disc models was discovered, with a larger thickness for the same total luminosity. The choice between these solutions should be done of the base of stability analysis. The ideas underlying the necessity to include advection into the accretion disc theory are presented and first models with advection are reviewed. The present status of the solution for a low-luminous optically thin accretion disc model with advection is discussed and the limits for an advection dominated accretion flows (ADAF) imposed by the presence of magnetic field are analyzed.

Although the conventional Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) model has been widely applied in the industrial and engineering field, it is worthwhile to study whether these models are suitable to investigate the flow filed varying with the time. With the development of turbulence models, the unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (URANS) model, detached eddy simulation (DES) and large eddy simulation (LES) compensate the disadvantage of RANS model. This paper mainly presents the theory of standard LES model, LES dynamic model and wall-adapting local eddy-viscosity (WALE) LES model. And the square cylinder is selected as the research target to study the flow characteristics around it at Reynolds number 13,000. The influence of different LES models on the flow field around the square cylinder is compared.

Radar cross section near-field to far-field transformation (NFFFT) is a well-established methodology. Due to the testing range constraints, the measured data are mostly near-field. Existing methods employ electromagnetic theory to transform near-field data into the far-field radar cross section, which is time-consuming in data processing. This paper proposes a flexible framework, named Neural Networks Near-Field to Far-Filed Transformation (NN-NFFFT). Unlike the conventional fixed-parameter model, the near-field RCS to far-field RCS transformation process is viewed as a nonlinear regression problem that can be solved by our fast and flexible neural network. The framework includes three stages: Near-Field and Far-field dataset generation, regression estimator training, and far-field data prediction. In our framework, the Radar cross section prior information is incorporated in the Near-Field and Far-field dataset generated by a group of point-scattering targets. A lightweight neural network is then used as a regression estimator to predict the far-field RCS from the near-field RCS observation. For the target with a small RCS, the proposed method also has less data acquisition time. Numerical examples and extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can take less processing time to achieve comparable accuracy. Besides, the proposed framework can employ prior information about the real scenario to improve performance further.

This paper chose multi-index to provide a comprehensive evaluation model to evaluate the use reliability of CNC machine tools as a single assessment indicator is biased. As the number of evaluation factors is huge and it is difficult to get the exact values, a fuzzy theory is applied. Reliability mathematical model and maintainability mathematical model were established based on failure data selected from filed test and calculated the estimation values of reliability indexes. Subsequently, a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation mathematical model of CNC machine tools was constructed which combined fuzzy with comprehensive evaluation theory. Using this model could evaluate reliability level of CNC machine tools accurately and integrative.

The stability of tunnel surrounding rock is a key scientific issue in the design and construction of the tunnel engineering. Taking the load pattern of incremental form, the distribution law of stress and displacement field of the Osaka mountain tunnel after excavation was calculated based on the D-P yield criterion; Basing on the comprehensive heat and mass transfer theory, the temperature field in the surrounding rock was calculated and the variation of stress and displacement field after the surrounding rock experiencing the free-thaw cycles. All of the results can provide some references for the design and safe construction of the tunnel engineering under the action of freeze-thaw environment in cold regions.

Based on the analysis of starting process of wet dual clutch transmission, dynamic rules for piston pressure and relative angular velocity of wet clutch were determined, According to the unsteady heat exchanging theory and the heat exchanging process of clutch engagement, a two dimensional heat conduction model of wet clutch was developed with reasonable initial conditions and boundary conditions. Matlab/PDE toolbox was used to solve the established model. The temperature distribution of friction pairs along the axial and radial direction were revealed in the Simulation results. Testing program had been designed, and real vehicle test was done to the temperature field on friction interface of wet dual clutch transmission in starting process. The test result indicated that the temperature field model and its solution were reliability, and it was instructive to optimize the design of wet clutch and its engaging control in starting process.

Freeze-thaw action in fractured rock mass is discussed. Moist rock exposed to subfreezing temperature would suffer from freeze-thaw deterioration, which would pose serious threat to the stability of geotechnical engineering. Some key factors influencing freeze-thaw action in rock mass is analyzed, such as temperature, freezing rate, freeze-thaw cycles and porosity of the rock. Further more, using the theory of physical chemistry, the freezing point and frozen ratio were derived. Finally, the model of frost crack was built by ANSYS and then imported into FLAC3D by converting procedure. The stress field, temperature filed as well as the normal and shear stress on surface of the cracks were demonstrated. The effect of freezing pressure is reflected in the results.

Using the axisymmetric tortion tensor given by J. Nitsh in U4 gravitational gauge theory. Applying G. S. Yang and L. F. Luo's magnetic field model of neutron stars, i.e. magnetic field is originated from long-arranged neutron spin. Precession of spin coupled with tortion has been studied, indicating an influence on the magnetic field. The results show that the initial magnetic filed B made of long-arranged spin magnetic moment is at an angle of α with rotating axis, if radians, B makes a so small angle to the rotating axis at time 108 sec. that no pulses could be radiated from the neutron stars. Only when radians, the pulse radiation could be done. Based on the assumption that the orientation of the initial magnetic fields is isotropic, we can get then that only about ten percent of the rotating neutron stars radiate pulses.

To understand the dendrite formation during solidification phase-field model has become a powerful numerical method of simulating crystal growth in recent years. Two phase-field models due to Wheeler et al. and Karma et al., respectively, have been employed for modeling the dendrite growth worldwidely. The comparison of the two models was performed. Then using the adaptive finite element method, both models were solved to simulate a free dendrite growing from highly undercooled melts of nickel at various undercoolings. The simulated results showed that the discrepancy between the two phase-field models is negligible. Careful comparison of the phase-filed simulations with LKT(BCT) theory and experimental data were carried out, which demonstrated that the phase-field models are able to quantitatively simulate the dendrite growth of nickel at low undercoolings, however, at undercoolings above ten percent of the melting point (around 180K), the simulated velocities by Wheeler and Karma model as well as the analytical predictions overestimated the reported experiment results.

Due to the complication of grouting process in soil, design of fracture grouting works is still mainly based on empirical considerations and experiences from past projects. Based on the theory of particle flow, the domain of flow is defined by using Fish language implemented in PFC and the formulas for flow and pressure are put forward respectively. Combined with above study, the process of fracture grouting in soil is simulated with particle flow code (PFC2D) from micro-viewpoint under coupling environment. In addition, the emergence and development of crack and grouting pressure in soil is analyzed under different grouting pressure and soil properties. The research results show that pressure plays a key role in consolidating the soil by fracture grouting, but in fact it should be kept in a reasonable value in order to forming grouting slurry net entirely. Filed test indicates that fracture grouting greatly increases the bearing capacity of weathered rock in Xiamen Xiangan subsea tunneling and the conclusions of numerical simulation agrees well with the field test and grouting theory.

Abstract An investigation is made on the effect of Hall currents on thermal instability of a compressible couple-stress fluid in the presence of a horizontal magnetic field saturated in a porous medium. The analysis is carried out within the framework of the linear stability theory and normal mode technique. A dispersion relation governing the effects of viscoelasticity, Hall currents, compressibility, magnetic field and porous medium is derived. For the stationary convection a couple-stress fluid behaves like an ordinary Newtonian fluid due to the vanishing of the viscoelastic parameter. Compressibility, the magnetic filed and couple-stress parameter have stabilizing effects on the system whereas Hall currents and medium permeability have a destabilizing effect on the system, but in the absence of Hall current couple-stress has a destabilizing effect on the system. It has been observed that oscillatory modes are introduced due to the presence of viscoelasticity, magnetic field porous medium and Hall currents which were non-existent in their absence.

This paper is a contribution to Tensegrity Systems understanding. The first part is devoted to a clarification of definitions. Among all the definitions that are known, we suggest a first one based on the description which is given in the three main patents, filed by Emmerich, Fuller and Snelson. We submit then an “extended definition”. According to this definition, tensegrity systems can be regarded as a pure field of forces satisfying some specific conditions. A double layer grid, which fulfils this definition is described. In the second part, tensegrity systems are placed within the general category of tensile structures. It can be seen that this work paves the way to an improvement within the entire world of shapes. Finally we give an example of tensegrity system theory applied to biology and developed by D. Ingber.

Within the framework of the modified Ginzburg–Landau–Devonshire phenomenological theory, we study the properties of a ferroelectric thin film with surface transition layer, considering the effect of electrodes. The combined effect of the electrode and surface transition layer on the properties (including the polarization, transition temperature and coercive filed) of a ferroelectric thin film is discussed in detail. The results show that the surface transition layer and the electrode can induce the phase transition from ferroelectric to paraelectric phase.

This article examines the records of mental incompetence cases filed at a court of the first instance in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Using a Critical Discourse Analysis framework and qualitative methods, we explore the ways in which mental health sufferers are represented. Applying Tone Theory and Appraisal Theory (attitude/judgement subsystem) to our data, we distinguish two discursive zones. In one of them, subjects are constructed with linguistic resources that amount to inscribed expressions of negative social judgement on their capacity. A discursive dichotomy is created whereby people are either competent or incompetent. In the other zone, these negative dichotomous judgements are largely softened by explicitly positive ones, without disappearing altogether. We suggest that mental incompetence, far from being a dichotomous concept, might be gradual.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the suitability of job and work design theory for investigating knowledge workers’ productivity. The review is a response to recommendation and adoption of the motivational human resource management approach by a number of knowledge management researchers. The authors show that the existing literature on this topic overlooks key criticisms of HRM job and work design theory itself. The authors suggest modifications. Design/methodology/approach The paper proceeds by outlining knowledge management researchers’ arguments rejecting the application of traditional measurement approaches to investigating knowledge workers’ productivity. The review develops to examine the various arguments for adopting work design theory and considers the key contributions and critiques in this field. Drawing on the insights of key HRM work design critics, the paper concludes by offering suggestions for a model suitable for examining the drivers of knowledge work productivity in process. Findings The principle finding is that Morgeson and Humphrey’s (2006) Work Design Questionnaire (WDQ) stand as the most conceptually consistent and methodologically considered human resource management work design theory. However, this model must itself be modified to include a category of organizational contextual work characteristics. For application to the filed of knowledge management, WDQ must also be expanded to include knowledge sharing, role breadth self-efficacy and employee well-being as key work design mediators and outcomes. Research limitations/implications Greater consideration needs to be given to the distinction between knowledge sharing as a work design mediator and as a work design outcome. Morgeson and Humphrey themselves note that the “common method variance” problems arising in psychometric research have been reduced but not completely eliminated from their model. Practical implications Survey instruments based on the recommended model potentially provide a valuable means for understanding and enhancing productivity in a variety of knowledge intensive service industries. The pronounced benefit of this model is that it is applicable in cross-industry and cross-occupational contexts, unlike many existing knowledge worker productivity models. This is an advantage, given the centrality of the inter-connectivity of different types of activities and industries in knowledge work. Social implications Work design prioritizes employee motivation and support and links this to the quality of work and the well-being of clients. The benefits of well-designed knowledge work extend well beyond the generation of specific innovations and macroeconomic productivity improvements. Originality/value Job design and work design theory have been applied in the field of knowledge management. However, the applications have largely overlooked key critiques of the established models in the human resource management literature. The paper fills this gap. Its original suggestions for modifying Moregeson and Humphry’s (2006) WDQ reflect the authors’ in-depth analysis of the literature.

Abstract We investigate a quantum criticality of an antiferromagnetic phase transition in the Hubbard model on a square lattice with a d-wave pairing field by large-scale auxiliary-field quantum Monte Carlo simulations. Since the d-wave pairing filed induces Dirac cones in the non-interacting single-particle spectrum, the quantum criticality should correspond to the chiral Heisenberg universality class in terms of the Gross-Neveu theory, which is the same as those expected in the Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice, despite the unit cells being different (e.g., they contain one and two sites, respectively). We show that both the two phase transitions, expected to occur on the square and on the honeycomb lattices, indeed have the same quantum criticality. We also argue that details of the models, i.e., the way of counting the total number N of fermion components and the anisotropy of the Dirac cones, do not change the critical exponents.

Анотація:
ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the reality of nurses of Project HOPE and discuss the repercussion of their performance in relation to the reconfiguration of nursing in Alagoas State. Method: social-historical study, whose primary sources were documents filed in the Laboratory of Documentation and Research in History of Nursing, granted by this project; oral testimonies resulting from the transcription of interviews of US nurses and the VeNeta Masson's'logbook, coordinator nurse of the ship. The discussion of the data was based on Pierre Bourdieu's theory. The project was submitted to the Ethics Committee and approved by it. Results: The actions of the American nurses exposed the shortage of this type of professional in the area, as well as the precarious health conditions in the region. Conclusion: the symbolic capital of these nurses has contributed to the reconfiguration of the nursing field in Alagoas State.
