A series of edible chitosan-starch (CS-S) biocomposite films were developed by simple integration of monomers and casting process, which was tested for its physicochemical integrity through tensile strength, FTIR analysis, TGA analysis, water vapor permeability, and opacity. Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and cellulose nanofiber (CNF) were used to improve the film's properties. Energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction is applied to investigate double-layer PBCO/YBCO thin films deposited by laser ablation. The merits of this technique for the structural study of films are discussed. It is shown that the rocking curves of the Bragg reflections of a film along thecdirection can be simultaneously collected, allowing the accurate evaluation of its angular spread. A systematic displacement of the rocking curves of the film with respect to those of the substrate was found, revealing a slight divergence of the growth direction from the normal to the substrate surface.

Abstract The main purpose of this study was to monitor the growth of the marine bio-film, of micro/macro organisms, on the surface of different metallic alloys in seawater by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The alloys used in this study were; UNS 1020 carbon steel, stainless steel 304, stainless steel 316L, Sanicro 28, Cu–Ni 70–30, Hastelloy G-30, and titanium. The EIS was used to measure the A.C. Impedance (Z) and the double layer capacitance (Cdl) of the formed bio-film in seawater on a frequent basis. The total exposure time of the tests was ranged between 90 days to 180 days.

Abstract Surface characterization of inhibitor films has been attempted on a variety of metal samples from both laboratory and operating plants. These were evaluated to determine regions of molybdate and zinc accumulation relative to anodic and cathodic areas. The presence of molybdate in pits is shown to follow anticipated patterns over a range of concentrations. It was also shown that a zinc specific chelant modifies the morphology of the corrosion inhibitor film. This film was shown to be a more effective barrier and resulted in lower corrosion rates.
