A bird survey was conducted in the Majang Forest Biosphere Reserve, Ethiopia, from February 2019 to December 2023, covering both wet and dry seasons. The study aimed to assess species diversity and habitat preferences across forest, grassland, and wetland ecosystems using stratified sampling. Point counts were used in forests and line transects in grasslands and wetlands, with observations made during morning and late afternoon hours. A total of 205 bird species from 45 families were recorded; 63 species were habitat-specific, 184 occurred in two habitats, and 71 were found in all three.. KEYW

Abstract The primary purpose of this review was to search for recent information on the endemic bird species of Ethiopia, their distribution, conservation challenges, and conservation mechanism. Current data show that Ethiopia has 18 endemic bird species. Some of these species are distributed in different regions of Ethiopia (Yellow-fronted Parrot, Abyssinian Longclaw, Wattled Ibis, Blue-winged Goose, Abyssinian Catbird). In contrast, some species are restricted in a few areas (Red-billed Pytilia, Yellow-throated Serin, Salvadori’s Serin). The assemblages of endemic birds diminish over time du

The study used a critical review-based combination of searching for keywords such as bamboo, socioeconomic, environmental, benefit, Ethiopia, and inclusion and exclusion criteria to find relevant information. The results of this review indicated that bamboo has a substantial role in social, economic, and environme

We used richness, abundance and composition of bird species in four forest types to propose conservation priorities for the northern Pantanal. Birds from 11 sites (a total of 41 points) were sampled through point counts and mist-netting. In total 215 species were recorded in the forests. Two evergreen forest types (cambarazal and l

Abstract Outdoor recreational activities are increasing worldwide and occur at high frequency especially close to cities. Forests are a natural environment often used for such activities as jogging, hiking, dog walking, mountain biking, or horse riding. The mere presence of people in forests can disturb wildlife, which may perceive humans as potential predators. Many of these activities rely on trails, which intersect an otherwise contiguous habitat and hence impact wildlife habitat. Abstract I documented the use by nesting birds and availability of arboreal termite nests (termitaria) in the Peruvian Amazon. Birds occupy about 1% of the termitaria annually, suggesting that termitarium availability does not limit reproductive output. Birds choose termitaria that are larger and higher than average, and the three most common termitarium-nesting species differ in their use of termitaria. Two species of Brotogeris parakeets use termitaria with similar characteristics, but Tui Parakeets (B. sanctithomae) nest in young forests and edge habitats whereas Cobalt-winged Parakeets (B.
