DRR has been shown to be a novel regulator of malignant glial cell invasion. Isolated from a screen for up-regulated genes in hyper-invasive cells, DRR is expressed in the peripheral regions of high grade gliomas (Le et al., 2010). In culture, DRR+ cells have significantly enhanced invasion (3D collagen, 2D wound healing assays) and their motility is characterized by elongated, mesenchymal-like shape with rapidly extending/retracting protrusions. The study of malignant cell invasion is multi-faceted; one aspect of this dysregulated process involves cytoskeletal remodeling to promote motility.

We tested the hypothesis that MSCs can be recruited to the heart upon myocardial infarction, and play pathophysiological roles in the subsequent healing and adaptation process.
