In this study, freeze vacuum drying (FVD), hot air drying (AD), and FVD combined with AD (FVD-AD) were used to dry kiwifruits. Dried products were analyzed comprehensively on their sensory quality, active components, moisture mobility, odors, and microstructure. Results showed that the FVD-AD saved time by 38.22% compared with FVD while maintaining an acceptable product quality. The antioxidant properties of FVD-AD were lower than those of FVD but significantly higher than those of AD. Moreover, compared with FVD products, FVD-AD products were moderately hard (5252.71 ± 33.53 g) and improved in color, bound water, and microstructure. Additionally, FVD-AD consumed lesser drying time and energy than FD. According to cluster analysis, the odors of FVD-AD products were similar to those of the fresh ones. Principal component analysis of physicochemical and drying cost indicated that FVD-AD was a promising processing technique for functional kiwifruit snacks.

Objective: Our recent series of laboratory- and large-scale experiments confirmed that under aerobic and anaerobic conditions, sodium metabisulfite (SMB) was effective in preserving nutrients and antioxidant capacity of highly perishable fruit and vegetable discards (FVD). Hence, the purpose of this study was to examine how partial inclusion of SMB-treated FVD in total mixed ration (TMR) influences in vitro ruminal fermentation, whole-tract digestibility, nitrogen metabolism, blood metabolites, and voluntary feed intake of sheep.Methods: The FVD were mixed thoroughly with 6 g SMB/kg wet biomass and kept outdoors under aerobic conditions for 7 days. Four TMRs including four levels of SMB-treated FVD (as-fed basis) at 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% (equaling to 0%, 1.9%, 3.8%, and 5.7% on dry matter basis, respectively), were prepared as replacement for corn grain. The ruminal fermentation metabolites were studied using an in vitro gas production test. Four mature male Corriedale sheep were assigned at random to the 4 diets for two separate sub-experiments; i) digestibility trial with four 21-d periods, and ii) voluntary feed intake trial with four 28-d periods.Results: Inclusion of SMB-treated FVD in the TMR tended to quadratically increase partitioning factor. No effect was seen on total-tract digestibility of organic matter, ether extract, crude protein, and acid detergent fiber, except for neutral detergent fiber digestibility that tended to linearly increase with increasing SMB-treated FVD in the TMR. The progressive increase of FVD preserved with SMB in the diet had no effect on nitrogen metabolism. Treatment had no effect on serum antioxidant capacity and blood metabolites assayed. Voluntary feed intake was not impaired by inclusion of SMB-treated FVD in the TMR.Conclusion: It appears that FVD preserved with SMB can be safely incorporated into TMR as replacement of corn grain without impairment of nutrient metabolism and feed intake.

Flame vapor deposition (FVD) process can be used to prepare the tungsten oxide thin film which has photocatalytic activity at visible light. The FVD process is fast and economical to prepare thin film on substrate comparing to other processes. Various nanostructured thin films could be easily prepared by controlling several process parameters in FVD. One-dimensional (1-D) nanostructures with high surface area also can be prepared reproducibly. The tungsten wire precursor was oxidized and vaporized in flame to be deposited onto the substrate. The nanostructure shapes can be adjusted by controlling nucleation and growth rates of tungsten oxide vapor on substrate. In this study, nanostructured tungsten oxide thin film was fabricated on stainless steel mesh by FVD process changing the process variables of FVD. We found that proper selection of suitable process conditions in FVD was quite important for the 1-D nanostructure growth on stainless steel wire mesh with high surface area, which is quite important for photocatalytic application.

To optimize the aseismic performance of nonlinear fluid viscous dampers (FVD) of cable-stayed bridge in the highly seismic zone, Xigu Yellow River Bridge in northwest China is taken as an example. Nonlinear time-history analysis method is used to research on the relation among the internal forces, displacements, and damping parameters of the 650 tonnage FVD. The method of getting the minimum of binary functions is used to obtain the optimal parameters of FVD. Also, the 1 : 1 full-scale FVD model is made and used in the constitutive relation test. Then the test result of the damping parameters can be got by normal equation method. The optimized method to obtain the damping parameters is further verified. The results indicate that seismic response in key positions of the cable-stayed bridge can be reduced by installing longitudinal nonlinear FVD between the towers and girders if choosing reasonable damping parameters C and ξ. The optimal damping parameters can be calculated accurately by the proposed method of optimizing damping parameters of nonlinear FVD, and the constitutive relation test verifies the correctness of the optimization analysis method. Conclusions concerned can be applied to the design of nonlinear FVD for cable-stayed bridges.

AIM: To quantitatively detect aqueous levels of angiopoietin-like (ANGPTL)3, ANGPTL4, and ANGPTL6 and investigate their correlation with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME). METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 23 patients (27 eyes) with type 2 diabetes and 16 control subjects (20 eyes). All patients underwent OCTA imaging and ultra-wide field fundus photography. Diabetic patients were categorized into two groups according to the presence or absence of diabetic retinopathy (DME group, 14 patients, 16 eyes); and non-diabetic retinopathy (NDR) group, 9 patients, 11 eyes, respectively. Aqueous levels of ANGPTL3, ANGPTL4, and ANGPTL6 were assessed using suspension array technology, and foveal-centered 3×3 mm2 OCTA scans were automatically graded to determine the central, inner, and full vessel density (CVD, IVD, FVD); central, inner, and full perfusion density (CPD, IPD, FPD), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, FAZ perimeter, and FAZ circularity index (FAZ-CI) on superficial capillary plexuses. Additionally, central subfield thickness (CST), cube volume (CV), and cube average thickness (CAT) were measured in a model of macular cube 512×128. RESULTS: Aqueous ANGPTL3 levels were not significantly different among the three groups (P>0.05). ANGPTL4 levels were significantly higher in the DME group than the control and NDR groups (P<0.0001 and P<0.001), while ANGPTL6 levels were significantly higher in the DME group than the control group (P<0.05). In the whole cohort, the aqueous ANGPTL3 levels correlated negatively with the IVD, FVD, IPD, and FPD, and positively with the CV and CAT. The aqueous ANGPTL4 levels correlated negatively with the CVD, IVD, FVD, CPD, IPD, and FPD, and positively with the FAZ perimeter, CST, CV, and CAT. The aqueous ANGPTL6 levels correlated negatively with the IVD, FVD, IPD, FPD, FAZ-CI and positively with CST, CV, CAT. CONCLUSION: ANGPTL4 and ANGPTL6 may be associated with vascular leakage in DME and may represent good targets for DME therapy. In addition, OCTA metrics may be useful for evaluating macular ischemia in DME.

Background: Factor V deficiency (FVD) is a rare bleeding disorder (RBD) mostly present in regions with a high rate of consanguinity. FVD after FXIII deficiency is the next more prevalent RBD in Sistan and Baluchistan (S&B) in southeastern Iran. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical manifestations and severity of bleeding diathesis in patients with FVD. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted on 23 patients with FVD in S&B province. FVD was diagnosed by clinical findings and routine laboratory tests. Bleeding diatheses were classified into three grades (I-III) depending on the severity of symptoms. The severity of bleeding episodes in our patients was compared with other RBDs. Result: Based on residual plasma FV activity, 6 (26%), 16 (69.5%) and 1 (4.5%) patients had mild, moderate and severe factor deficiency, respectively. 24% of the patients had grade III life-threatening bleeding episodes which in comparison with FVII deficiency (17.4%) and FI deficiency (21%) had a higher incidence, and in comparison with FX deficiency (41.7%) and FXIII deficiency (63.1) had a lower incidence. Grade II and grade I bleeding diathesis were observed in 56.2 and 16.7% of the patients, respectively. Conclusion: FVD is the second most common type of RBD in S&B province and grade II bleeding episodes were the major bleeding presentation and observed in more than half of the patients.

ABSTRAKPendekatan teknologi dapat dilakukan dalam perencanaan struktur tahan gempa salah satunya yaitu dengan menggunakan Fluid Viscous Damper (FVD). Alat peredam FVD memiliki fungsi untuk menyerap energi gempa dan mengurangi gaya gempa rencana yang dipikul elemen-elemen struktur sehingga memungkinkan struktur bangunan menjadi lebih elastis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah lantai yang paling efektif terhadap kinerja struktur portal beton dengan pola penempatan FVD yang paling baik untuk variasi jumlah lantai gedung yaitu 12, 16, dan 20 lantai. Metode yang digunakan yaitu analisis dinamis riwayat waktu dengan menggunakan software ETABS v.15.2.2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur gedung 12 lantai memberikan peningkatan respon struktur yang paling baik. Penggunaan FVD pada struktur 12 lantai mereduksi waktu getar alami struktur sebesar 49,75%, meningkatkan gaya geser dasar hingga 28,87%, dan mereduksi simpangan struktur baik akibat beban gempa respons spektra maupun beban time history.Kata Kunci: fluid viscous damper, metode riwayat waktu, waktu getar, gaya geser dasar, dan simpangan struktur ABSTRACTTechnological approach can be performed on earthquake-resistant structural design method, one of which is by using the Fluid Viscous Damper (FVD). The main function of FVD as a damper is to absorb seismic energy and reduce the seismic force which is carried by structural elements and thus the building structures become more elastic. This study aims to determine the most effective number of floors for the performance of reinforced concrete frames structure using best position of FVD with three floors variations, which are 12, 16, and 20 floors. The dynamic time history analysis method is tested using ETABS v.15.2.2 software. The results showed that the 12-story structure generates the best structural response. The installation of FVD on a 12-story structure reduces the natural period of structure by 49,75%, increases the base shear force by 28,87%, and reduces the drift of structure due to response spectrum load as well as time history loads.Keyword: fluid viscous damper, time history methods, structural period, base shear, and drift

The connected and automated vehicle (CAV) is regarded as an effective way to improve traffic efficiency and safety, which can utilize vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology to obtain real-time status information from multiple preceding vehicles. In view of the car-following characteristic of CAV in a V2V communications environment, an extended car-following model AHT-FVD is proposed which takes both average headway and electronic throttle angle difference into account. The stability of this model is examined via linear stability analysis. It is found that the proposed model has a larger stability region than both the full velocity difference (FVD) model and throttle-based FVD (T-FVD) model. Namely, this AHT-FVD model can effectively stabilize traffic flow and alleviate traffic congestion in theory. Moreover, a series of numerical simulations are carried out to explore how average headway together with electronic throttle angle difference influences the stability of traffic flow. Simulation results show that increasing either the average headway weight or the electronic throttle angle difference control signal coefficients can yield higher traffic flow stability. Simulation result is highly consistent with theoretical analysis.

This article introduces new empirical evidence exploring the relationship between the introduction of Fair Value Disclosure (FVD) and audit fees, and the moderating effect of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) on this relationship. This study is primarily motivated by the limited and inconclusive research on the monitoring costs resulting from FVD. The Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method using a sample of 222 Jordanian firms during 2005–2018 is applied. The analysis finds that a greater level of FVD is the major cause of high audit fees. Results are more pronounced for firms with larger proportions of subjective FVDs (Level 3 assets). A significant negative (positive) impact of the precrisis (post-crisis) period on the association between the proportion of fair-valued assets and audit fees is confirmed. The regression results confirm the negative effect of pre-crisis period on moderating the association between the all-fair value input levels (Levels 1, 2 and 3 assets) and audit fees. The post-crisis period has a significant positive effect only in relation to Level 1 assets. Findings of this study provide policymakers and standards setters with updated evidence originating from a non-Western setting about the post-implementation costs of FVD.

E’ stato indagato il comportamento degli edifici equipaggiati con un sistema di protezione sismica passivo basato sull’utilizzo di dissipatori fluido viscosi non lineari. L’elaborato vede una prima parte nella quale si individuano i metodi per lo svolgimento dell’analisi di risposta sismica locale. La seconda parte si concentra sui metodi di protezione sismica degli edifici e in particolare sul controllo dello smorzamento con dissipatori fluido viscosi. Ne è stato studiato il comportamento meccanico e sono stati analizzati i criteri di progettazione ed integrazione all’interno del sistema strutturale. L’ultima parte della presente tesi, svolta in collaborazione con lo Studio Tassinari e Associati di Ravenna, raccoglie le elaborazioni ed i risultati ottenuti dall’applicazione degli aspetti presentati nelle precedenti parti alla progettazione dell’ampliamento previsto per il complesso ospedaliero di Maria Cecilia Hospital di Cotignola (RA) del Gruppo Villa Maria. E’ stato sviluppato il confronto in termini di danni attesi a seguito di sisma e di costo di realizzazione tra diverse strategie progettuali: con dissipatori, a comportamento dissipativo e a comportamento non dissipativo. I risultati ottenuti con i metodi di predimensionamento sono stati verificati attraverso analisi dinamiche non lineari con impiego di storie temporali, come previsto dalla normativa vigente. I risultati hanno fornito una soluzione strutturale con dissipazione aggiuntiva vantaggiosa dal punto di vista della sicurezza degli elementi strutturali e non strutturali, che comporta un investimento poco superiore alla soluzione tradizionale. Il vantaggio rilevante è che a seguito di sisma non sono previsti danni e plasticizzazioni agli elementi strutturali inoltre la riduzione delle accelerazioni e degli spostamenti ai quali si sottopone la costruzione permette di salvaguardare gli elementi non strutturali e, aspetto fondamentale nell’ambito di strutture sanitarie e di ricerca, i contenuti.

Métodos de migração baseados na equação da onda unidirecional apresentam limitações no imageamento de refletores com forte mergulho e no tratamento de ondas evanescentes. Utilizando a expansão de Padé complexa na solução da equação da onda unidirecional para imageamento em geofísica é possível tratar ondas evanescentes, estabilizando a migração e dispensando um tratamento especial para absorção nas fronteiras do domínio. Utilizando várias parcelas na expansão de Padé, refletores com forte mergulho podem ser corretamente migrados. Nesta dissertação aplicamos a equação da onda unidirecional com expansão de Padé complexa para implementar dois algoritmos de migração em profundidade pré e pós empilhamento: a migração por diferenças finitas (FD) e a migração por diferenças finitas e Fourier (FFD). O estudo das curvas de dispersão e da resposta impulsiva dos operadores de migração nos permitiu escolher o número adequado de parcelas na expansão de Padé e os coeficientes da expansão que garantem estabilidade à continuação do campo de onda para um ângulo de mergulho máximo prescrito. As implementações foram validadas nos dados Marmousi e no modelo de domo de sal da SEG/EAGE mostrando que refletores com forte mergulho foram corretamente migrados, mesmo na presença de forte variação lateral de velocidade. Esses resultados são comparados com outros métodos de migração baseados na equação da onda unidirecional ressaltando a qualidade da aproximação estudada neste trabalho.
Seismic Migration by downward continuation using the unidirectional wave equation approximations has two shortcomings: imaging steep dip reflectors and handling evanescent waves. Complex Padé approximations allow a better treatment of evanescent modes stabilizing the finite difference migration, and does not require special treatment for domain boundaries. Imaging of steep dip reflectors can be improved using several terms in the Padé expansion. This dissertation discuss the implementation and evaluation of complex Padé approximation for finite difference migration and Fourier finite difference migration. The study of the dispersion relation and impulsive response associated to the migration operator is used to select the number of terms and coefficients in the Padé expansion which assures stability for a prescribed maximum reflector dip. The implementations are validated in the Marmousi and SEG/EAGE salt model datasets, and compared to other wave equation migration methods. The results of FD and FFD complex Padé migrations can handle steeper dips, and present a much lower signal to noise ratio than their real valued counterparts.

The aim of the Thesis is theoretical clarification of the issues of photovoltaic power plants, their diagnostics, inspection and performance measurement, including negative impacts on their operation and subsequent application of theoretical knowledge during practical inspection and diagnostics of PV power plants. In its introductory part, the Thesis deals with design, manufacturing and development of PV cells and panels and describes other necessary elements and components, including their use in individual types of photovoltaic systems. Another part describes electric parameters of PV cells and panels, especially the parameters that can be found out by measurement of V-A characteristics and also the parameters affecting the shape of the V-A characteristics. The third part is focused on failures of photovoltaic systems, which include various defects of photovoltaic cells and panels, it also provides for adverse factors affecting operation of the entire system, associated not only with weather influences but also with the actual design of the photovoltaic system. The fourth part deals with possibilities of increasing the cost-effectiveness of electricity generation by PV power plants on the basis of practical experience of their operators. The subsequent part determines, on the basis of technical standards, procedures for PV power plant inspections, the procedures for measurement and diagnostics of PV power plants and also other prerequisites connected with inspections and measurements. This part includes also a description of requirements for measuring devices, most frequent measurement errors, adverse impacts affecting measurements and methods of assessment of the data measured. The last part of the Thesis is practical. At first it deals with verification of the impact of defects of PV modules on the shape of their V-A characteristics, then with execution of inspections and diagnostics of a particular PV power plant, evaluation of the data identified and measured, as well as with a proposal of optimisation measures to increase cost-efficiency of the operation of that particular PV power plant.

Die Ausrichtung des neuen DFG-Förderprogramms „Fachinformationsdienste für die Wissenschaft (FID)“ bietet für die SLUB Dresden und ihre Partnerinstitution UB Heidelberg sehr gute Voraussetzungen, ihren kooperativen Ansatz durch den stetigen Ausbau des konstruktiven Dialogs mit der Wissenschaft und durch den Einsatz moderner digitaler Werkzeuge in eine weitere Dimension zu führen. Nach der erfolgreichen Fusion der Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken lag es nahe, den im Mai 2013 einzureichenden Antrag zum Aufbau eines „Fachinformationsdienstes Kunst“ nicht wie bislang für die beiden bisherigen Sondersammelgebiete getrennt zu stellen, sondern auch hier die Kräfte zu bündeln und einen gemeinsamen Antrag vorzulegen. So konnten für die nächsten drei Jahre Entwicklungsziele in unterschiedlichen Kompetenzfeldern formuliert werden, die weit über die bestehenden lokalen Angebote anderer wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken hinausgehen.

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of free-form deformations. The main goal of this work were elaboration of theoretical knowledge about this issue and the programming of selected methods od free-form deformations. The first part describes the required spline theory, matrix calculus and free-form deformations. The resulting version shows three programs. The first program compares the selected free-form deformation methods to the example of the 4x4 control point grid. The second program serves as a generalization for the general case of grid of control points. The last program is based on direct manipulation of arbitrary surface point and following recomputation of the control points to obtain demanded shape.

Introduktion: Spirometri är en metod som utförs för att utesluta eller bekräfta en lungsjukdom. Dynamisk spirometri innebär mätning av lungvolymsförändringar över tid och omfattar både långsam och forcerad spirometri. Vid långsam spirometri mäts vitalkapacitet (VK). Vid forcerad spirometri mäts forcerad exspiratorisk volym på en sekund (FEV1), forcerad vitalkapacitet (FVK) och FEV%. Spirometri utförs i sittande position men den kan också utföras i stående position. Syftet med studien var att jämföra och se om det föreligger en signifikant skillnad för VK, FVK, FEV1 och FEV% vid dynamisk spirometri mellan sittande och stående position hos studenter utan känd lungsjukdom.  Material och Metod: Studien bestod av 21 frivilliga studenter med åldrarna 21-32 år, där 18 var kvinnor och tre män. Datainsamlingen utfördes vid Örebro universitet och variablerna som mättes vid undersökningen var: VK, FVK, FEV1 och FEV%. Mätningarna upprepades minst tre gånger i både sittande och stående position och de fick inte skilja sig åt mer än 150 ml. Ett parat t- test användes för att se om det förelåg en statistisk signifikant skillnad i mätvärdena mellan sittande och stående position. Resultat: Det parade t-testet visade att det inte föreligger någon statistiskt signifikant skillnad i variablerna VK (p = 0,19), FVK (p = 0,87), FEV1 (p = 0,37) och FEV% (p = 0,26) mellan sittande och stående position. Slutsats: Det föreligger ingen statistiskt signifikant skillnad för dynamisk spirometri mellan sittande och stående position. För att få en uppfattning om hur kroppsposition påverkar spirometri behövs en större population.
Introduction: Spirometry is a method performed to rule out or confirm a lung disease. Dynamic spirometry involves measuring lung volume changes over time. The dynamic spirometry includes slow and forced spirometry. With slow spirometry, vital capacity (VC) is measured. In forced spirometry, forced exspiratory volume of one second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC) and FEV% are measured. Spirometry is performed in a sitting position but can also be performed in a standing position. The aim of the study was to compare whether there is a significant difference for VC, FVC, FEV1 and FEV% in dynamic spirometry between sitting and standing position in students without known lung disease. Method and Materials: The study consisted of 21 volunteer students aged 21-32, of whom 18 were women and three men. The data collection was performed at Örebro University and the variables that were taken into account when performing it were: VC, FVC, FEV1 and FEV%. The maneuvers were repeated at least three times in both sitting and standing positions and they did not differ more than 150ml. A paired t-test was performed to see if there is a statistically significant difference in the measured values between sitting and standing position. Result: The paired t-test showed that there is no statistically significant difference in the variables VC (p = 0.19), FVC (p = 0.87), FEV1 (p = 0.37) and FEV% (p = 0, 26) between sitting and standing position. Conclusion: There is no statistically significant difference for dynamic spirometry between sitting and standing position. To get an idea of how body position affects spirometry, a larger population is needed.

Tradisjonelle arbeidsformer i dagens byggebransje vier lite oppmerksomhet til forvaltning, drift og vedlkehold (FDV) av bygninger. BIM, bygningsinformasjonsmodellering, kan bidra til en ny digital arbeidsprosess, hvor FDV står i sentrum. Resultatet av en slik prosess er en modell, en database, hvor all informasjon om et bygg ligger lagret.LYDIA er FDV-programvare, utviklet og levert av Lydia AS. De ønsker å videreutvikle LYDIA i retning BIM, og se på hvordan sammenhengen BIM-LYDIA kan utføres i praksis. Lydia AS opplever i dag størst utfordringer ved import av informasjon til LYDIA-databasen. Kundene samler manuelt inn store mengder informasjon til databasen. Erfaringer viser at endel kunder strever med å forstå bruksnytten av LYDIA.Systemarkitekturen presentert i oppgaven løser Lydia AS sine forutsetninger for overgangen BIM-LYDIA. Funksjonaliteten i LYDIA er opprettholdt. buildingSMART sitt standardiserte filformat, IFC, er brukt som utgangspunkt for overføring av informasjon. Løsningen er realiserbar innen andre kvartal 2014. Modellen forenkler dagens importarbeid. Lydia AS sine kunder slipper manuell dataregistrering som øker risikoen for feil. Ved import direkte fra BIM forenkler man prosessen med å hente informasjon til LYDIA-databasen. Modellen bygger likevel ikke oppunder en ny samarbeidsprosess. Digitale arbeidsformer kan endre de tradisjonelle arbeidsformene i byggebransjen. Utgangspunktet for slike arbeidsprosesser er større tillit og mer fokus på samskaping. Lydia AS må selv tenke gjennom hvilken retning de ønsker å ta for fremtidige LYDIA.

Abstract Flexible and skyscraping frame-structural tower is sensitive to dynamic loads, that might oscillate intensely under seismic and wind loads. Thus, vibration suppression system is required and fluid viscous damper (FVD) is implemented to suppress such vibration in this study. The vibration behavior of frame-structural tower with FVD (F-FVD) is investigated by an equivalent model combined with experiment under seismic and wind loads, respectively, and the vibration suppression effect is evaluated by the displacement and energy distribution. The equivalent model of the frame-structural tower with FVD is primarily established, of which FVD is considered through Kelvin model. The parameters of FVD are supplemented to the damping term through a time-dependent damping matrix based in Rayleigh damping, and to the stiffness term through a stiffness matrix based in stiffness-equivalent simply-supported beam. Van der Pol wake oscillator is considered as the wind force term. Several conventional numerical integration methods for solving the equivalent model which belongs to the nonlinear system are compared and Newmark-β algorithm is adopted. The vibration suppression regularity of normalized stiffness coefficient Kr, damping coefficient Cr and velocity exponent α is analyzed via the equivalent model. There is a balance between the stiffness effect and energy dissipation effect of FVD, and the sensitiveness to α depends on excitation and stiffness of F-FVD system. The optimal parameters of fluid viscous damper, Kr = 1.30∼2.0, Cr = 1.65∼3.30 and α = 0.4∼0.8, are obtained eventually. It is indicated that the vibration suppression by fluid viscous damper is effective. And this study can be conducive to vibration suppression design of such flexible and skyscraping frame-structural tower.

As fachadas vegetadas podem trazer benefícios térmicos às edificações, na medida em que atuam como mecanismo de sombreamento, isolamento térmico, barreira ao vento ou resfriamento evaporativo. Dentre as diversas tipologias usadas atualmente na arquitetura, este trabalho vai comparar três sistemas: fachada verde direta (FVD), fachada verde indireta (FVI) e parede viva modular (PVM). Sendo assim, o objetivo deste artigo é avaliar o impacto do uso de diferentes tipologias de fachadas vegetadas no comportamento térmico de um ambiente residencial, inserido na zona bioclimática 2, utilizando simulação computacional no software EnergyPlus, com base em parâmetros de configuração utilizados anteriormente por outras pesquisas. Para tanto, comparou-se os resultados de temperatura interna do ar, temperatura superficial interna da parede e fluxo de calor da edificação sem a presença da vegetação e com a aplicação das três técnicas. Os resultados demonstraram que o uso da vegetação tende a deixar as superfícies termicamente mais estáveis, amenizam os picos de temperatura e promovem menores ganhos de calor durante os períodos mais quentes e menores perdas de calor nos períodos mais frios. Assim, conclui-se que seu uso traz benefícios para o conforto térmico e eficiência energética em edificações inseridas em locais de clima subtropical.

Technique of wavy wall with the circumferential direction is used to suppressing vortex induced vibration of an elastically mounted circular cylinder which is free to move along the stream-wise (X-Direction) and transverse (Y-Direction) direction. The simulation is performed at low Reynolds number (Re) and based on finite volume method (FVD). The results show that wavy wall is very effective for suppressing VIV by detuning vortex shedding. Transverse response is reduced greatly while applying appropriate frequency and the amplitude is located between 0 and 0.05D (D is the diameter of cylinder) with the increase of reduced speeds and fixed Reynolds number 500. Besides, the difference-value between wavy wall cylinder and standard cylinder increases.

Abstract The work presented in this paper derives from the design of a position sensing interferometer, in which circular fringe patterns are automatically analyzed by a computer vision system. Central to this process is a circle fitting problem in the sense of least Linfinity norm, also known as Chebichev or MinMax fit. The problem at hand can be formulated as follows: Given a set of points in the plane, find the pair of concentric circles with minimum radial gap enclosing all the points. The solution to this problem is elegantly given by common computational geometry tools, indeed the center of such a circle is necessarily a vertex of the Nearest Point Voronoi Diagram (NVD), a vertex of the Farthest Point Voronoi Diagram (FVD), or an intersection of edges from both diagrams. An algorithm for determining the Chebichev circular fit is presented and illustrated on the basis of that observation. Applications and potential extensions of this method to soft gauging and image metrology will also be discussed.

Low Plasticity Burnishing (LPB) is now established as a surface enhancement technology capable of introducing through-thickness compressive residual stresses in the edges of gas turbine engine blades and vanes to mitigate foreign object damage (FOD). The “Fatigue Design Diagram” (FDD) method has been described and demonstrated to determine the depth and magnitude of compression required to achieve the optimum high cycle fatigue (HCF) strength, and to mitigate a given depth of damage characterized by the fatigue stress concentration factor, kf. LPB surface treatment technology and the FDD method have been combined to successfully mitigate a wide variety of surface damage ranging from FOD to corrosion pits in titanium and steel gas turbine engine compressor and fan components. LPB mitigation of fretting induced damage in Ti-6AL-4V in laboratory samples has now been extended to fan and compressor components. LPB tooling technology recently developed to allow the processing of the pressure faces of fan and compressor blade dovetails and mating disk slots is described. Fretting induced micro-cracks that form at the pressure face edge of bedding on both the blade dovetail and the dovetail disk slots in Ti-6-4 compressor components can now be arrested by the introduction of deep stable compression in conventional CNC machine tools during manufacture or overhaul. The compressive residual stress field design method employing the FDD approach developed at Lambda Technologies is described in application to mitigate fretting damage. The depth and magnitude of compression and the fatigue and damage tolerance achieved are presented. It was found that microcracks as deep as 0.030 in., (0.75 mm) large enough to be readily detected by current NDI technology, can be fully arrested by LPB. The depth of compression achieved could allow NDI screening followed by LPB processing of critical components to reliably restore fatigue performance and extend component life.
