Анотація:
The paper presents the main results of sociological research devoted to the study of the gender in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The study was conducted at the department of psychology and pedagogy of Kharkov University of the Air Force named Kozhedub in 2012–2013 years. Analysis of the results of the study showed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine prevails harmonious type of soldier-women. It is characterized by a balance of professional and social structure in social and professional potential of the individual.

The concept of Ibnu Maskawaih's education about the power and humanity of human thinking, he conclude that in humans there are three forces, they are: an-nafs al-bahimiyah (animal passions) is worse force, an-nafs as-sabu’iyah (lust beast) in the middle force, and an-nafs an-nathiqiyah (intelligent soul) is good force. His concept of moral education is the obligatory education for each individual to sharp the power and capabilities of the human. According to his concept, environment will affect the education. Then, a good environment is the environment in which there is a harmonious relationship between all the components that exist in the environment. The concept of Ibn Khaldun's education about the power and ability of human thought that he laid the ratio (reason) at its central point. With human ratio, human can think and can produce science. In the process of education, morality is very important, therefore it cannot educate in a violent manner. Therefore, his thinking challenged the environment that the environment greatly influenced the human in carrying out his social function in the midst of society.

Анотація:
The article tackles a lesser-known aspect of political bureaucracy in the Arabian Gulf and establishes the link between forced tribal loyalties and hegemonic bureaucracies. The system in place is inherently anti-democratic and fosters a distribution of favours and benefits to groups who have pledged allegiance to ruling families. This has come at the expense of political freedoms for local nationals. The irony is that Gulf countries have granted many privileges to foreign nationals yet have suppressed the political expression of local groups. The countries' governance systems are not amenable to change nor will they tolerate change. Repression of dissent by force is unlikely to promote a climate of harmonious change and development.

Background Ground reaction forces (GRF) measured during equine gait analysis are typically evaluated by analyzing discrete values obtained from continuous force-time data for the vertical, longitudinal and transverse GRF components. This paper describes a simple, temporo-spatial method of displaying and analyzing sagittal plane GRF vectors. In addition, the application of statistical parametric mapping (SPM) is introduced to analyse differences between contra-lateral fore and hindlimb force-time curves throughout the stance phase. The overall aim of the study was to demonstrate alternative methods of evaluating functional (a)symmetry within horses. Methods GRF and kinematic data were collected from 10 horses trotting over a series of four force plates (120 Hz). The kinematic data were used to determine clean hoof contacts. The stance phase of each hoof was determined using a 50 N threshold. Vertical and longitudinal GRF for each stance phase were plotted both as force-time curves and as force vector diagrams in which vectors originating at the centre of pressure on the force plate were drawn at intervals of 8.3 ms for the duration of stance. Visual evaluation was facilitated by overlay of the vector diagrams for different limbs. Summary vectors representing the magnitude (VecMag) and direction (VecAng) of the mean force over the entire stance phase were superimposed on the force vector diagram. Typical measurements extracted from the force-time curves (peak forces, impulses) were compared with VecMag and VecAng using partial correlation (controlling for speed). Paired samples t-tests (left v. right diagonal pair comparison and high v. low vertical force diagonal pair comparison) were performed on discrete and vector variables using traditional methods and Hotelling’s T2 tests on normalized stance phase data using SPM. Results Evidence from traditional statistical tests suggested that VecMag is more influenced by the vertical force and impulse, whereas VecAng is more influenced by the longitudinal force and impulse. When used to evaluate mean data from the group of ten sound horses, SPM did not identify differences between the left and right contralateral limb pairs or between limb pairs classified according to directional asymmetry. When evaluating a single horse, three periods were identified during which differences in the forces between the left and right forelimbs exceeded the critical threshold (p < .01). Discussion Traditional statistical analysis of 2D GRF peak values, summary vector variables and visual evaluation of force vector diagrams gave harmonious results and both methods identified the same inter-limb asymmetries. As alpha was more tightly controlled using SPM, significance was only found in the individual horse although T2 plots followed the same trends as discrete analysis for the group. Conclusions The techniques of force vector analysis and SPM hold promise for investigations of sidedness and asymmetry in horses.

Capitalism and democracy have transformed the world, but not in a harmonious way. This article provides a broad overview of the major driving forces of democracy, its relationship with ongoing socioeconomic developments and some of the countervailing factors. It points to the inherently conflictive nature of democratic procedures and decision-making, but also emphasizes the potentially universal implications of basic democratic values. Against this background, the future prospects of democracy and possible alternatives in the age of globalization are assessed. All this is based, as far as space permits, on the huge body of available theoretical and empirical literature, but also on the author’s long-term preoccupation with this topic and some of his personal views and experiences.

The paper puts forward a method that the internal force greatly improves the actual accuracy of parallel machine tools, and a-2DOF redundantly actuated parallel mechanism is designed. The position and speed harmonious control conditions is studied and the force control system is devised in this paper. The experiments show that this method can greatly improve the accuracy of parallel machines. Therefore, the results provide the theoretical and experimental foundation for improving the accuracy of parallel machines by internal force.

Arbitration proceedings have been studied as one of the alternative forms of protection of subjective rights, freedoms and interests of individuals and legal entities, in terms of the implementation of arbitration decisions. Consideration of these issues is related to the analysis of the role of arbitration in public relations, the comparison of judicial functions inherent in courts as public authorities, and the limits of jurisdiction of arbitration courts. The division between judicial functions and the jurisdiction of arbitration courts is important. The legal nature of arbitration decisions differs from the legal nature of decisions of official judicial institutions. At the same time, under the conditions provided by law, they have executive force and can be enforced. Enforcement proceedings are considered as a system of procedural mechanisms for the execution of decisions of courts, other bodies and officials. Decisions of arbitration courts in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Arbitration Courts", the Law of Ukraine "On Enforcement Proceedings", the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine and the Commercial Procedural Code of Ukraine may be enforced subject to review and admission by competent courts. At the same time, a number of issues of their implementation do not have sufficient scientific development. These questions are connected with fundamental understanding of essence of arbitration proceedings, its place in system of mechanisms of protection of the right, features of executive procedures. These issues need comprehensive research and systematization. The urgency of the topic is due to the fact that modern legislation is in dynamic development. Arbitration, as well as other out-of-court procedures for the protection of subjective rights, freedoms and interests, has become widespread in public relations. Legislation needs to be improved, it must respond in a timely, appropriate and harmonious way to the challenges that arise in society. The key to this is the creation of a relevant doctrinal approach in the analysis of social phenomena, mechanisms for protecting the rights, freedoms and interests of the subjects of civil and economic relations. The exercise of their powers by arbitrators presupposes a harmonious combination between the legislation on arbitration courts, procedural legislation and the legislation on enforcement proceedings.

Анотація:
Compared with hydraulic press, pneumatic press has many prominent advantages such as low energy consumption, no pollution to environment, fast speed and high efficiency etc. However, its critical disadvantage is that its pressure is much slower than that of the hydraulic system, which results in lower output force. An innovative pneumatic press driven by a new composite pneumatic-mechanical transmission mechanism is presented in this paper. With the aid of the force amplifier of two-step serial toggle-lever, the output force of the piston is amplified twice and the amplification factor can up to 20. Besides, two innovation design plans were discussed, namely, the single-cylinder-single-piston press and the single-cylinder-double-piston press. Moreover, the single-cylinder-double-piston press is remarkable in harmonious symmetry and technical performances.

Au cours de notre travail, nous avons determine les parametres de la fonction energie potentielle, en utilisant le champ de forces urey-bradley-shimanouchi modifie, pour les monosaccharides suivants: le methyl-alpha-mannoside, la n-acetyl-alpha-glucosamine, l'acide n-acetyl-alpha-muramique, l'acide n-acetyl-beta neuraminique ainsi que pour la liaison n-glycosidique. Ces parametres sont ensuite utilises pour le champ de forces spasiba dont la fiabilite est demontree par l'etude en dynamique harmonique de la n-acetyl-alpha-glucosamine et du n,n-diacetyl-chitobiose. Puis differentes simulations moleculaires du n,n-diacetyl-chitobiose ont ete effectuees en utilisant des constantes dielectriques differentes. Les resultats, compares a ceux obtenus avec le champ de forces amber, permettent de conclure que le champ de forces amber, n'est adapte aux saccharides, que les cycles pyraniques sont rigides, mais, pas les entites monosaccharidiques, et qu'aucune representation de la constante dielectrique ne permet de mimer les effets de l'eau. Enfin, une simulation de 64 ps du chitohexaose effectuee dans l'eau avec le champ de forces spasiba ne permet pas de mettre en evidence la distorsion du cycle d de cette molecule.

Ce travail traite du principe des moteurs auto-lévités, réunissant la fonctionnalité de génération de couple et de forces de lévitation dans un même système. Une modélisation spectrale tenant compte des différents harmoniques spatiaux de l'induction et de leurs sources est mise en oeuvre. Les interactions des différents harmoniques spatiaux en positions centrée et décentrée, sont alors mis en évidence afin d'identifier leurs contributions à la force et à ses ondulations. Ces modèles donnent des éléments pour le dimensionnement magnétique des machines auto-lévitées. Pour contrôler cette machine, un modèle externe spécifique dédié aux machines auto-lévitées est développée. Ce modèle permet de choisir un convertisseur statique et une stratégie de commande adaptée. Pour finir, un prototype spécialement conçu a été dimensionné et construit afin de valider les principes théoriques énoncés lors de cette thèse
The thesis deals with an alternate solution mixing the functions of an electric motor and active magnetic bearing with the same device. A spectral magnetic models taking into account the different flux density harmonics and their sources are developed. The interaction of different space harmonics of the air-gap flux density is highlighted and modeled in order to evaluate their contributions to the levitation force and its ripples. These models allow the magnetic design of bearingless machines. In order to supply and control such machines, a specific lumped circuit model is developed. This study allows to design the optimal winding which minimizes the constraints on the converter. Finally, a specific prototype is designed and manufactured in order to validate theoretic results provided during this thesis

La tension interfaciale est une grandeur physico-chimique d'intérêt pour de nombreuses industries et notamment l'industrie pétrolière. Cette grandeur est l'un des paramètres qui permet d'optimiser le rendement d'un puits de pétrole. La difficulté liée à sa mesure dans les conditions réservoirs a amené à étudier les systèmes eau/tensioactif/huile par simulation moléculaire. Ce travail a permis de montrer que la Dynamique Particulaire Dissipative (DPD) était un outil adapté pour l’étude de systèmes eau/tensioactif/huile sous différents aspects, de la caractérisation de la structure des interfaces au calcul de la tension interfaciale. Cette thèse a permis la démonstration de l’influence non-négligeable de la variation des paramètres de la force harmonique, l’amplitude K et la distance d’équilibre r0 , sur le calcul de la tension interfaciale et sur la structure des interfaces à forte concentration en tensioactif. En effet, la structure des tensioactifs aux interfaces est le résultat d’une balance subtile entre les forces intra et inter moléculaire. L’étude d’une population modèle de tensioactifs non chargés a permis de montrer que la DPD reproduit bien l'évolution de la tension interfaciale en fonction de la concentration en tensioactif en solution et en fonction du coefficient de partage de tensioactifs modèles non chargés. Une méthodologie est proposée pour caractériser les systèmes contenant des interfaces et où la tension interfaciale est calculée.Des travaux prospectifs ont permis de montrer que la DPD permettait d'étudier des phénomènes liés à la tension interfaciale comme le mûrissement d'Ostwald dans les émulsions d'huile dans l'eau. Ces derniers travaux ouvrent la voie à l’étude d’autres systèmes d’intérêt pour le milieu pétrolier comme le décollement de gouttes de pétroles adsorbées sur des parois ou l’étude d’émulsions pétrolières
The interfacial tension is a physical-chemical property that numerous industrial areas have an interest of especially the petroleum industry. This property is one of the many which helps to optimize production wells' rate of return. Measuring that property in reservoir's conditions (high pressure and temperature) is highly difficult and led to study water/surfactant/oil systems using molecular modeling. The difficulty to measure that specific physical-chemical property linked to the pressure and temperature conditions in the reservoirs led the scientists to study water/surfactant/oil systems using molecular modeling. This thesis establishes that the Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) is able to study water/surfactant/oil systems. The study of the effect of the variation of the harmonic force's parameters, namely the force constant K and the equilibrium distance r0, demonstrated that their variation can heavily influence the interfacial tension computation. Actually, a subtle balance exists between the intra and inter-molecular interactions, which influences the local structure of the surfactants at the oil-water interface, modifies the interfacial tension and influences the interface stability. It was demonstrated that DPD reproduces the variation of interfacial tension with the bulk surfactant concentration and the effect of the variation of hydrophobicity of models of un-charged surfactants on interfacial tension by mean of their coefficient partition. We established a method to properly study systems containing interfaces where interfacial tension is computed. Prospective work showed that DPD was a good tool to study microscopic phenomenon which can be observed macroscopically like the Ostwald ripening in oil in water emulsions. This is a first step before studying others systems of interest for the petroleum industry such as oil/water emulsion or the adsorption of oil droplets on rock wall

L'objet de ce travail est l'estimation de la degradation des proprietes mecaniques par fatigue des structures en beton arme au cours d'une histoire de sollicitations, le vent, considere comme une action aleatoire. En raison des non-linearites inherentes a ce type de probleme, une methode de monte-carlo est retenue. Celle-ci necessite la simulation de trajectoires de l'excitation afin, apres resolution du schema mecanique deterministe associe, de pouvoir caracteriser la reponse du systeme par traitement statistique. L'adherence etant supposee parfaite pour ce type de chargement, la fatigue est prise en compte pour le beton comprime et les armatures tendues par l'intermediaire de courbes de wohler associees a la loi de cumul de miner. Deux techniques de simulation du vent turbulent sont presentees dans les cas mono et multidimensionnels, l'une fondee sur la markovianisation approchee des processus physiquement realisables et l'autre utilisant les techniques de l'analyse harmonique. Le schema complet de calcul est applique a l'etude d'un chateau d'eau. Nous etudions tout d'abord l'influence des linearisations introduiteslors du calcul de la force aerodynamique. Apres l'identification de cycles de contraintes realisee grace a la methode de la goutte d'eau, les fractions de vie sont obtenues a court terme pour differentes configurations mecaniques et aerodynamiques. Cette thèse traite de la compensation magnétique de pesanteur. Tout d’abord, des expériences de lévitation magnétique de fluides sont interprétées à l’aide d’un potentiel magnéto-gravitationnel SL. Puis, l’utilisation d’une méthode générale d’analyse de la force magnétique grâce aux harmoniques du champ magnétique est développée. Elle souligne l’importance et le rôle de chacun des trois premiers harmoniques du champ magnétique sur les configurations de forces résultantes inhérentes à la compensation magnétique de pesanteur. En géométrie cylindrique (invariante par translation) diverses combinaisons de forces d’origines magnétique, gravitationnelle et centrifuge offrent des perspectives nouvelles pour la lévitation magnétique. Une combinaison judicieuse des forces magnétiques et centrifuges permet de compenser exactement la pesanteur sur des matériaux diamagnétiques. En géométrie axisymétrique (invariante par rotation), le dimensionnement de stations de lévitation d’oxygène, techniquement réalisables (NbTi@4,2K), est présenté. Ces stations permettent de léviter des volumes d’oxygène supérieurs à 1 litre avec des inhomogénéités inférieures à 1%. La constitution de ces stations rend possible les variations spatiales et temporelles des configurations d’accélérations résultantes. Enfin, la compensation magnétique dynamique de gravité, à l’aide d’une station de lévitation réelle, est étudiée afin de simuler des phases d’accélération ou de décélération d’engins spatiaux
The thesis deals with magnetic gravity compensation. First of all magnetic levitation experiments are explained with the help of a magneto-gravitational potential SL. Next, a general analysis method of the magnetic force is developed which employs magnetic field harmonics. The method underlines both the significance and role of the first three magnetic field harmonics on the resulting forces inherent in magnetic gravity compensation. In cylindrical geometry – with translational invariance – various combination of magnetic, gravitational and centrifugal forces open new possibilities for the magnetic levitation. A suitable combination of both magnetic and centrifugal forces allows exactly compensating gravity on diamagnetic materials. In axisymmetric geometry – with rotational invariance – designs of feasible oxygen magnetic levitation stations are introduced (NbTi@4,2K). Levitation of oxygen volumes more than one litre with inhomogeneities less than 1% can be accomplished within these magnetic levitation facilities. The constitution of the stations makes possible both spatial and temporal variations of the resulting acceleration configurations. At last the dynamic magnetic compensation of gravity with a real coil system is studied so as to simulate both acceleration and deceleration of spaceships

Dans cette thèse, nous mettons en évidence les propriétés ONL et la structuration photo-induite de nouveaux complexes organométalliques possédant un fragment donneur ruthénium-acétylure capable de concurrencer les plus forts donneurs organiques.
Nous déterminons, à l'aide de diverses techniques expérimentales (DFWM, SHG, THG, Zscan), l'influence de la fonctionnalisation de ces structures moléculaires sur l'amélioration de leurs propriétés ONL du deuxième et troisième ordre en jouant notamment sur la nature du fragment accepteur et du transmetteur π-conjugué. Nous présentons les résultats de calculs théoriques de chimie quantique afin de proposer une étude ONL de ces complexes à l'échelle moléculaire. Enfin, nous complétons ce travail sur des complexes ruthéniumacétylure contenant un fragment azobenzène dans leur système organique p-conjugué, par la diffusion des rayons X aux grands angles (WAXS) et par l'étude, en régime picoseconde, de la dynamique de formation de réseaux de surface photo-induits (SRGs) en utilisant une technique d'holographie en transmission et la microscopie à force atomique (AFM).

Les atomes sont des candidats intéressants pour l'information quantique, car leur neutralitée électrique devrait leur assurer un long temps de cohérence. Afin de pouvoir les manipuler un par un, nous avons choisi de les placer dans un piège dipolaire microscopique. Une analyse détaillée du nombre d'atomes piégés montre que celui-ci peut être compris entre 1 et 30, avec un réegime préférentiel de travail dans lequel les collisions inélastiques le limitent à un. Il est également possible de placer deux pièges dipolaires côte à côte, et donc de disposer de deux atomes, à quelques microns de distance. Dans le but d'intriquer ces deux atomes, il est important de connaître l'amplitude du mouvement des atomes piégés. Celle-ci se caractérise avec le paramètre de Lamb-Dicke, paramètre qui dépend des fréquences d'oscillation du potentiel dipolaire, mais aussi de la température des atomes. Ces deux grandeurs ont été mesurées expérimentalement, et montrent que le confinement est actuellement insuffisant. Il est donc nécessaire de refroidir les atomes davantage. Un autre champ d'investigation de cette expérience concerne le régime où le nombre d'atomes piégés est de l'ordre d'une trentaine. Nous avons alors démontré la possibilité d'évaporer le nuage atomique, et donc de le refroidir. Il devrait alors être possible d'obtenir des condensats de Bose-Einstein à très petit nombre d'atomes, et en régime de Lamb-Dicke.

Les colloides magnetiques, ou ferrofluides, sont caracterises par des moyens d'optique lineaire et non lineaire: la diffusion rayleigh forcee et la generation de second harmonique. La generation de second harmonique est rendue possible en orientant les nanoparticules magnetiques non-centrosymetriques par un champ magnetique statique. A partir de mesures macroscopiques (proches du comptage de photons) et d'un modele d'orientation statistique de particules independantes, la symetrie du tenseur de polarisabilite non lineaire de la nanoparticule est etablie et l'amplitude complexe de ses elements mesuree. Une correlation entre le moment magnetique permanent de la particule et sa structure cristalline s'avere etre responsable de la non-centrosymetrie et de la chiralite des particules et du colloide magnetique. De plus, le confinement quantique des nanoparticules semi-conductrices a ete prouve. Par la technique de diffusion rayleigh forcee, il est prouve que sous l'effet d'un faisceau laser, les nanoparticules migrent dans la solution principalement par thermodiffusion, ou effet soret, a cause des gradients thermiques induits. Suivant la nature de la stabilisation des nanoparticules dans le solvant, par surfactants ou par charges de surface, leur migration a lieu dans le sens ou a contre-sens des gradients thermiques. Au niveau de la nanoparticule independante, un phenomene dominant, analogue a celui de l'effet marangoni, est propose: par opposition aux corps habituels, les surfactants a la surface de la particule, plongee dans un gradient thermique, provoquent une augmentation avec la temperature de la tension superficielle a l'interface particule-liquide

Remarks on the aftermath of the Laon siege and on his publications’ reception by papal censors preface the chapter’s main subject, an account of Bodin’s contribution to natural theology, the Universae naturae theatrum. Presented as a dialogue, the work relies principally though by no means exclusively upon Aristotelian methodologies and draws on a range of source materials, with ancient authorities well to the fore. Bodin’s use of methodology and source, including evidence empirically obtained, is critically reviewed, as is his treatment of major natural scientific topics, notably motion. Via discussion of various natural phenomena and the doctrine of mean terms he arrives at a consideration of the soul, creation’s ‘universal bond’. A harmonious entity, the universe is subject always to God’s arbitrary interventions. Finally, the chapter discusses Bodin’s Paradoxon which, ostensibly challenging the Aristotelian doctrine of the mean, concerns itself ultimately with the will, the intellect, and the virtues.

Umberto Gori has often focused on the subject of peace, seen as the primary objective of Political Science, analysing the challenges that peacebuilding processes have to face in an international context undergoing profound change, and with aspects that could be described as dystopic. We will explore these dynamics by drawing inspiration from the way in which Ivan Illich dealt with the theme of the forced medicalisation of society, a theme that presents many points of contact with the intention of imposing a distorted version of the concept of peace, where a model of peaceful coexistence is proposed, which does not arise from the development of stable harmonious relations between mutually free and independent subjects, but from an absence of conflict produced by dehumanising forms of social conditioning.

Max Planck (a skilled pianist and conductor) experimented with the Eitz harmonium, which divided the octave into 104 steps. Planck then investigated whether skilled choruses would move toward “natural” (Pythagorean) or “tempered” tunings (using irrational numbers). Planck devised musical compositions for choruses to test the issue; to his surprise, convention and habit proved more powerful than “nature.” In the process, Planck had to confront established authorities (especially his mentor Hermann von Helmholtz) and, through by disposition conservative, was forced to question received opinion. The death of Helmholtz and several other colleagues required that Planck turn to investigating the spectrum of blackbody radiation, which involved his treating the atoms of the blackbody as a “chorus” of resonators. As the Eitz harmonium had divided the octave according to a new unit, Planck discovered that his atomic “harmonium” was “tuned” to a new fundamental interval regulated by a quantum whose universality he thought the most important aspect of his new theory. This chapter considers Hölderlin’s transformative engagement with the cosmology of the Presocratic thinker Empedocles in his tragic play Empedocles. Tracing a round dance of the natural root elements, the poetic tones, the forces of attraction and repulsion (also called love and strife, harmony and opposition, or care and rage, depending on the context) and two models for the poet (the poet-philosopher Empedocles and the poet-warrior Achilles), it argues that the notion of ‘harmonious opposition’, which informs Hölderlin’s poetics and philosophy of nature, undoes the binary system in favour of a queer logic.

Commerce was a driving force behind colonialism. As empires expanded and developed, they fuelled the skyrocketing of world trade. In the flows of goods and capital that this entailed, European industry – processing colonial commodities or producing manufactures for colonial markets – played a crucial role. Factories, such as the rice mills of the Dutch Zaan region that processed and re-exported rice from colonial Burma and Java in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, thus became the focal points for such trade relations. In the mills’ nomenclature and public relations efforts, the new, eye-catching factories were constructed as the high-tech centres of imperial trade relations, linked to traditional colonial agriculture in what was portrayed as a productive, harmonious whole.

This chapter discusses the reception of the ECHR in France and Germany. Although both States have been active supporters of human rights and have been close partners in the construction of Europe, their courts were reluctant to refer directly and explicitly to the ECHR. The reception of the ECHR can be characterized as ‘forced’ adaptation, rather than a voluntary process: often, authorities had no choice but to adjust the national legal order to the requirements of the ECHR. In both countries, the relationship between the national courts and the European Court of Human Rights has not always been harmonious, and some tensions remain.

Ubuntu is an African moral force and worldview that has held its primal societies peacefully together. It is interesting to observe that contemporary awareness of this concept in scholarship particularly associates Ubuntu with potentials to inspire global dialogue and peace efforts aimed at achieving harmonious human coexistence. Surprisingly though, this irenic dimension of Ubuntu has not received any systematic discourse as the literature on the concept shows. Accordingly, employing the human relations approach, this chapter draws on the pervasive literature on the intersections of Ubuntu and dialogue and particularly explores the intrinsic dialogic dimensions of Ubuntu for global peacebuilding efforts. Its basic presupposition is that the emphasis placed on the value of human relationship and peaceful coexistence by both concepts not only requires a systematic discourse, but also shows that indigenous cultural resources are available and viable for local and global conflict resolution efforts.

The previous two chapters addressed African moral theories according to which relationality has a merely instrumental status, viz., is good solely as a means to the advancement of either the common good or vital force. Chapter 6 begins to make the case for taking harmonious or communal relationship to be what should be pursued as an end for the African tradition. Drawing particularly on ideas from Desmond Tutu, it provides a detailed reconstruction of sub-Saharan understandings of harmony or communality, and points out that, as the combination of sharing a way of life with others and caring for their quality of life, it is similar to what English-speakers label ‘friendliness’. It also provides reason to reject extant, consequentialist principles according to which such a relationship is a final good (or goal) that is to be promoted, roughly because they cannot ground human rights.

This chapter investigates the social and political forces that have encouraged critical deliberations on the state’s immanent cosmopolitan possibilities over approximately the last three decades. It shows how expanding webs of human interdependence have confronted modern peoples with the problem of whether they can undergo the transition from national to post-national perspectives as part of their attunement to the realities of rapid, largely unplanned, and unpredictable global change which have created new opportunities for harming distant strangers. The inquiry considers the challenges in constructing compelling public philosophies (not least in the context of national-populist revolts) that can harmonize traditional state obligations to citizens with demanding responsibilities to other peoples, which are firmly embedded in cosmopolitan law.

The objective of this paper is to present selected contemporary activities in the urban space of Copenhagen aimed at the recovery of land in the process of revitalisation. They constitute examples of rational and economical management of areas inside the city limits and they inscribe in the concept of limiting of the urbanisation costs. The current harmonious development of the capital of Denmark constitutes a result of a strategy, in force for decades now, based on the implementation of architectural and urban planning solutions aimed at the continuous improvement of the comfort of living of the city residents. The urban culture is expressed in the creation of top quality public spaces, especially in the organisation of pedestrian zones based on the principles of the universal design.

Different pressure vessel and piping design codes and standards have adopted different fatigue analysis methods. In order to make some contribution to current efforts to harmonize international design codes and standards, a review of fatigue analysis methods for a number of selected nuclear and non-nuclear design codes and standards has been carried out. The selected design codes and standards are ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III Subsection NB and Section VIII Division 2, EN 12952, EN 13445, EN 13480, PD 5500, RCC-M, RCC-MRx, JSME, PNAEG and R5. This paper presents the initial review results. The results of the study could be used as part of the on-going work of the Codes and Standards Task Force of the World Nuclear Association (WNA) Cooperation in Reactor Design Evaluation and Licensing (CORDEL) Working Group.

It is planned to ensure the balanced development of the country's territory, creating and maintaining a healthy and harmonious human habitat and natural elements of the countryside and ensuring overall ecological stability by means of the agri-environmental protection activity measures RDP. As part of the EU's rural development policy, the tool for improving agri-environmental and climatic conditions has been continuously improved. The paper analyzes the differences between the 2007 -2013 RDP measure „Agri-environmental payments” and 2014-2020 RDP measure "Agri-environment and climate". Comparison of the 4 directions of the 2007-2013 and 2014-2020 RDP measure "Agri-environment and climate" according to the individual criteria for each direction indicate that the program rules are adjusted in a beneficial direction for both parties in close cooperation between the responsible authorities and the beneficiaries. In 2007-2013 it has been established that RDP measure "Agri-environmental payments" covered a much wider range of directions, and in 2014-2020, the RDP measure "Agri-environment and climate" had a slightly narrower range of directions, but more specific and clearer rules. However, the desired results can not be achieved. The greatest benefit of the measure is the improved biodiversity of the country. The main driving force for agri-environmental measures is financial support.

There are several techniques for measuring and characterizing the nanoparticle sizes. However, these measurement results for same nanoparticles may deviate from each other at an amount that is considered significant. To establish the effectiveness and comparability of measurement methods on nanoparticles, the Center for Measurement Standards of Industrial Technology Research Institute (CMS/ITRI) conducted three inter laboratory comparisons on nano particle size measurements in 2005, 2006 and 2012. In 2005, an APEC-led preliminary inter laboratory comparison on nanoparticle size characterization was carried out among 10 laboratories from 6 economies. In 2006, the interlaboratory comparison was carried out for the second time with a more focused objective of detailing instrument-specific measurement instructions for enhancing the comparability among different types of measurement methods. There were 16 laboratories from 10 economies participating in that comparison. In 2012, to harmonize the measurement techniques and capabilities on nanoparticle size, an APMP supplementary comparison was held among 14 national measurement laboratories. In this paper, statistical analysis was carried out to identify that the nanoparticle size measured from Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) was generally larger than the sizes measured from other measurement techniques including Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microcopy(AFM), Differential Mobility Analyzer (DMA), and Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS).

As the 1996 Bankruptcy Law was amended seven times, the legislator decided to pass a new Bankruptcy Law in 2015. Although the aim of the Amendment to the Bankruptcy Law 2017 is primarily to facilitate pre-bankruptcy proceedings by prescribing realistic deadlines for taking certain actions in the proceedings, the observed errors and omissions made throughout the Bankruptcy Law are corrected and doubts about the application of certain provisions are removed. The new goal of the Amendments to the Bankruptcy Act 2022 (which is scheduled to enter into force on 31 March 2022, 87th Session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, 02.12.2021) is to ensure efficient, simple and flexible management of the procedure, with precisely defined deadlines and clear consequences actions taken, but primarily to harmonize the Bankruptcy Law with the Acquis Communautaire and the general trend of deviation from traditional, formal bankruptcy proceedings by opening a wide area to private regulation, with all related opportunities and risks. The parallel issue of the implementation and regulation of the institute of consumer bankruptcy as a subtype of bankruptcy is one of the most current issues in the revision of the Consumer Bankruptcy Act (amendments should enter into force in March 2022). The reason for this modest endeavour is the need to change certain solutions, often without taking into account the proposals and suggestions of case law resulting from six years of application, but also the obligation to implement solutions of the Restructuring and Insolvency Directives. Standards and regulations have become an important part of today’s society. Organizational and geographical dispersions often create situations where manufacturers are forced to meet various standards for a product to reach expanded markets or improve branding. In this paper we propose an approach that provides stakeholders with the means to harmonize a set of standards by identifying similarities and differences between their coverage. Using an analysis approach based on the Zachman framework, we are able to identify both overlaps and gaps that may transpire when analyzing multiple standards associated with a single product domain. To demonstrate our approach, we apply it to a subset of electronics-related sustainability standards. The results are sets of terms that can be used to define the gaps and overlaps between three standards: RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive), WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment Directive), and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) P1680. We then discuss some of the challenges encountered when analyzing these standards. Finally, we briefly discuss the potential for an expanded approach that could assist in the development of domain models and ultimately help identify necessary actions in business processes that will lead to additional standard compliance.

Aujourdhui, le succès de lostéointégration des implants n’est plus à démontrer et les systèmes implantaires ne cessent de saméliorer. Toutefois dans le secteur antérieur, lobtention d’un résultat esthétique stable dans le temps, reste encore un challenge difficile. L’objectif est de développer un profil démergence péri-implantaire esthétique en référence aux dents adjacentes. Dans cette perspective, la reconstruction des défauts osseux du secteur antérieur est essentielle et déterminante. C’est un véritable défi car elle obéit spécifiquement à une triple problématique : Elle doit permettre la mise en place de l’implant dans une position idéale dans tous les sens de lespace. Elle doit recréer des volumes esthétiques en harmonie avec les dents collatérales et assurer ainsi le soutien de larchitecture des tissus mous. Elle doit enfin garantir la meilleure stabilité possible dans le temps du volume reconstruit pour éviter la formation de récessions inesthétiques et difficiles à corriger. Plusieurs techniques ont été décrites et peuvent être utilisées selon les indications et lexpertise du chirurgien. L’Os autogène a longtemps été considéré comme le « gold standard ». Mais outre les inconvénients liés au prélèvement, il a aussi montré ses limites dans le secteur antérieur en particulier lorsquil est utilisé sous forme de bloc, par sa susceptibilité à se résorber. La transformation du bloc en lame d’os corticale pour réaliser un coffrage rempli de particules autour du défaut, permet de traiter des des défauts verticaux et le résultat semble plus stable dans le temps. Pour éviter le prélèvement autogène, il est possible dutiliser des blocs allogéniques qui permettent dobtenir des reconstructions horizontales importantes. Toutefois, la manipulation est délicate et la stabilité du volume régénéré est largement discutée dans la littérature. La régénération osseuse guidée reste sans doute la technique la plus utilisée. Elle a lavantage de pouvoir, le plus souvent, placer l’implant dans le même temps opératoire ce qui simplifie et raccourcit notablement le temps de traitement. Toutefois dans le secteur antérieur il est souhaitable de reconstruire l’os dans une position coronaire et vestibulée. Dans ces conditions les membranes non résorbables et les armatures titane présentent des avantages sur les membranes résorbables qui manquent de rigidité pour maintenir le volume lors de la cicatrisation. Lors de notre exposé, les avantages et les inconvénients de chacune de ces techniques seront discutées pour en cerner les meilleures indications. En particulier, nous verrons comment l’utilisation de l’os allogénique sous forme particulaire associéà des membranes résorbables rigides, permet de simplifier les procédures, diminuer les risques dexposition et traiter un grand nombre de défauts osseux y compris verticaux. Enfin, la présentation d un grand nombre de cas cliniques pour illustrer ces techniques nous permettront dinsister sur limportance de la gestion des tissus mous à tous les stades du traitement. Lapport de tissus mous sous forme de greffe avant l’augmentation osseuse permettra daugmenter la hauteur de gencive attachée pour permettre une bonne vascularisation du greffon et surtout un recouvrement complet sans tension indispensable pour limiter le risque dexposition. Différentes techniques de greffes gingivales permettront ensuite, sans nécessité dexposer l’os régénéré, de repositionner la ligne de jonction muco-gingivale et recréer l’épaisseur et la hauteur de gencive attachée nécessaires. Une bonne gestion des tissus mous est indissociable des protocoles de régénération osseuse et seul la combinaison des deux peut permettre de répondre à notre objectif de développement d’un profil démergence esthétique et stable.

This study explores the direct impacts of the current Covid-19 pandemic-induced online learning and teaching at the higher education level. It indicates that its future physical campus would be a hybrid or blended instruction setting when Covid-19 is over. Due to Covid-19 lockdown and social distance regulations, face-to-face classroom instruction was deemed unsafe for the academic community. Hence, online education became the cornerstone of academia’s ability to deliver its services to the students. Indirectly, Covid-19 forced academia to adopt online learning and teaching platforms to deliver and meet the students’ instructional needs. Developing more efficient online learning and teaching software and devices helped enhance and improve student learning outcomes during the Covid-19 lockdowns. Thus, academia needs to capitalize on these achievements. However, this development would challenge the monopoly powers of the traditional brick-and-mortar classroom setting. This study examines the evidence of the effectiveness and shortcomings of online learning and teaching. It further examines and provides strategies to resolve the digital learning and teaching challenges. This eradication would make the hybrid or blended learning and teaching setting effectively compete with the traditional brick-and-mortar classroom setting in the future physical campus of higher education. This study’s research questions are. What lessons have we learned from the current online education and learning model? Is the higher education level thinking and ready to adopt a new classroom setting? Would the hybrid or blended instruction promote better students learning outcomes and maximize their learning? Would the new learning mode promote better internationalization standards for higher education? Would the new learning mode be cost-efficient? The study’s findings on the above research questions demonstrate the importance, threats, and indirect effects of hybrid or blended learning instruction. The indirect effects are complementary to the future physical campus. The study will contribute to the literature on the next stage of learning and teaching in academia. The study would quicken the higher education institutions' planning and adaptation to a new learning instruction setting. The developers of complementary software and technology devices could start planning how they would create new pedagogical tools and benefit from the future campus. The study will reinforce the view that online learning and teaching instruction has come to stay with academia. The study shows how hybrid or blended learning instruction will help academia overcome some of the shortcomings of online learning and teaching education. The study will harmonize with previous studies by proving that hybrid or blended learning instruction is the next frontier of the students' learning instruction. The study could strengthen the growing awareness among faculty, scholars, researchers, and formal academic institutions on the subject matter.

“Sustainable prosperity” denotes an economy that generates stable and equitable growth for a large and growing middle class. From the 1940s into the 1970s, the United States appeared to be on a trajectory of sustainable prosperity, especially for white-male members of the U.S. labor force. Since the 1980s, however, an increasing proportion of the U.S labor force has experienced unstable employment and inequitable income, while growing numbers of the business firms upon which they rely for employment have generated anemic productivity growth. Stable and equitable growth requires innovative enterprise. The essence of innovative enterprise is investment in productive capabilities that can generate higher-quality, lower-cost goods and services than those previously available. The innovative enterprise tends to be a business firm—a unit of strategic control that, by selling products, must make profits over time to survive. In a modern society, however, business firms are not alone in making investments in the productive capabilities required to generate innovative goods and services. Household units and government agencies also make investments in productive capabilities upon which business firms rely for their own investment activities. When they work in a harmonious fashion, these three types of organizations—household units, government agencies, and business firms—constitute “the investment triad.” The Biden administration’s Build Back Better agenda to restore sustainable prosperity in the United States focuses on investment in productive capabilities by two of the three types of organizations in the triad: government agencies, implementing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and household units, implementing the yet-to-be-passed American Families Act. Absent, however, is a policy agenda to encourage and enable investment in innovation by business firms. This gaping lacuna is particularly problematic because many of the largest industrial corporations in the United States place a far higher priority on distributing the contents of the corporate treasury to shareholders in the form of cash dividends and stock buybacks for the sake of higher stock yields than on investing in the productive capabilities of their workforces for the sake of innovation. Based on analyzes of the “financialization” of major U.S. business corporations, I argue that, unless Build Back Better includes an effective policy agenda to encourage and enable corporate investment in innovation, the Biden administration’s program for attaining stable and equitable growth will fail. Drawing on the experience of the U.S. economy over the past seven decades, I summarize how the United States moved toward stable and equitable growth from the late 1940s through the 1970s under a “retain-and-reinvest” resource-allocation regime at major U.S. business firms. Companies retained a substantial portion of their profits to reinvest in productive capabilities, including those of career employees. In contrast, since the early 1980s, under a “downsize-and-distribute” corporate resource-allocation regime, unstable employment, inequitable income, and sagging productivity have characterized the U.S. economy. In transition from retain-and-reinvest to downsize-and-distribute, many of the largest, most powerful corporations have adopted a “dominate-and-distribute” resource-allocation regime: Based on the innovative capabilities that they have previously developed, these companies dominate market segments of their industries but prioritize shareholders in corporate resource allocation. The practice of open-market share repurchases—aka stock buybacks—at major U.S. business corporations has been central to the dominate-and-distribute and downsize-and-distribute regimes. Since the mid-1980s, stock buybacks have become the prime mode for the legalized looting of the business corporation. I call this looting process “predatory value extraction” and contend that it is the fundamental cause of the increasing concentration of income among the richest household units and the erosion of middle-class employment opportunities for most other Americans. I conclude the paper by outlining a policy framework that could stop the looting of the business corporation and put in place social institutions that support sustainable prosperity. The agenda includes a ban on stock buybacks done as open-market repurchases, radical changes in incentives for senior corporate executives, representation of workers and taxpayers as directors on corporate boards, reform of the tax system to reward innovation and penalize financialization, and, guided by the investment-triad framework, government programs to support “collective and cumulative careers” of members of the U.S. labor force. Sustained investment in human capabilities by the investment triad, including business firms, would make it possible for an ever-increasing portion of the U.S. labor force to engage in the productive careers that underpin upward socioeconomic mobility, which would be manifested by a growing, robust, and hopeful American middle class.

Germany is a parliamentary democracy (The Federal Government, 2021) with two politically independent levels of 1) Federal (Bund) and 2) State (Länder or Bundesländer), and has a highly differentiated decentralized system of Government and administration (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, 2021). The 16 states in Germany have their own government and legislations which means the federal authority has the responsibility of formulating policy, and the states are responsible for implementation (Franzke, 2020). The Federal Government supports the states in dealing with extraordinary danger and the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) supports the states' operations with technology, expertise and other services (Federal Ministry of Interior, Building and Community, 2020). Due to the decentralized system of government, the Federal Government does not have the power to impose pandemic emergency measures. In the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to slowdown the spread of coronavirus, on 16 March 2020 the federal and state governments attempted to harmonize joint guidelines, however one month later State governments started to act more independently (Franzke & Kuhlmann, 2021). In Germany, health insurance is compulsory and more than 11% of Germany’s GDP goes into healthcare spending (Federal Statistical Office, 2021). Health related policy at the federal level is the primary responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Health. This ministry supervises institutions dealing with higher level of public health including the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM), the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute (PEI), the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the Federal Centre for Health Education (Federal Ministry of Health, 2020). The first German National Pandemic Plan (NPP), published in 2005, comprises two parts. Part one, updated in 2017, provides a framework for the pandemic plans of the states and the implementation plans of the municipalities, and part two, updated in 2016, is the scientific part of the National Pandemic Plan (Robert Koch Institut, 2017). The joint Federal-State working group on pandemic planning was established in 2005. A pandemic plan for German citizens abroad was published by the German Foreign Office on its website in 2005 (Robert Koch Institut, 2017). In 2007, the federal and state Governments, under the joint leadership of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Health, simulated influenza pandemic exercise called LÜKEX 07, and trained cross-states and cross-department crisis management (Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk, 2007b). In 2017, within the context of the G20, Germany ran a health emergency simulation exercise with representatives from WHO and the World Bank to prepare for future pandemic events (Federal Ministry of Health et al., 2017). By the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, on 27 February 2020, a joint crisis team of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) was established (Die Bundesregierung, 2020a). On 4 March 2020 RKI published a Supplement to the National Pandemic Plan for COVID-19 (Robert Koch Institut, 2020d), and on 28 March 2020, a law for the protection of the population in an epidemic situation of national scope (Infektionsschutzgesetz) came into force (Bundesgesundheitsministerium, 2020b). In the first early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Germany managed to slow down the speed of the outbreak but was less successful in dealing with the second phase. Coronavirus-related information and measures were communicated through various platforms including TV, radio, press conferences, federal and state government official homepages, social media and applications. In mid-March 2020, the federal and state governments implemented extensive measures nationwide for pandemic containment. Step by step, social distancing and shutdowns were enforced by all Federal States, involving closing schools, day-cares and kindergartens, pubs, restaurants, shops, prayer services, borders, and imposing a curfew. To support those affected financially by the pandemic, the German Government provided large economic packages (Bundesministerium der Finanzen, 2020). These measures have adopted to the COVID-19 situation and changed over the pandemic. On 22 April 2020, the clinical trial of the corona vaccine was approved by Paul Ehrlich Institute, and in late December 2020, the distribution of vaccination in Germany and all other EU countries
