Hyssop is grown on plantations in Poland. The aim of present study was to investigate the morphological character of Hyssopus officinalis and chemical composition of essential oil from hyssop. The plants were cut in the middle of August. Hyssop plants achieved mean height of 41.8 cm and the diameter of 37.1 cm. Main components of hyssop essential oil were: cis-pinocamphone, trans-pinocamphone, β-pinene, elemol and germacrene D.

The article presents the results of a study on the effect of microwave and IR radiation during the preparation for processing of essential oil raw materials of Transcaucasian catberry (Nepeta transcauca-sica L.), narrow-leaved lavender (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.), medicinal hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.) and seed coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) on the yield and quality of essential oil. The optimal parameters of the preparation process are established.

Varieties and breeding specimens of the non-traditional forage crop, medicinal hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.), were studied in a collection nursery. All observations related to measurement or counting were carried out on 30 plants or parts taken from each of 30 plants according to the methodology of distinctiveness, uniformity and stability tests. As a result of the research, the samples that possess a complex of useful traits were selected: long flowering (56–62 days.), bush height — 50–67 cm, dense structure of bushes, have 60–67 % obliquity; dry matter yield 3.5–4.4 kg/m2, seed yield — 30

The purpose of the work was to study the adaptive properties and features of growth, development and formation of soil-protective phytocenoses of common lavender and medicinal hyssop in the conditions of the anthropogenically transformed ecosystem of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine. A high survival rate of essential oil plants was established – 89.7–92.5% and winter resistance 81.5–98.1%. During three years of vegetation, lavender plants formed bushes with a diameter of 62.4-89.6 cm. It was studied the content of essential oil, flavonoids, rosmarinic acid in raw materials of 14 varieties of medicinal hyssop from different origin. The content of essential oil ranged within 0.11-0.55% in fresh raw materials, rosmarinic acid in the range of 0.49-0.80%, and flavonoids - 0.68-1.65%.
