The local migratory Spot-billed Duck (<em>Anas poecilorhyncha</em>) is found throughout the Indian subcontinent's freshwater habitat. This study examines the breeding biology of the Spot-billed Duck, with special attention to factors affecting breeding performance, nest site selection, and reproductive success. Field observations were made in a variety of freshwater habitats to record hatchling survival rates, clutch size, and nesting activities. The research study shows that Spot-billed Duck goodwill nesting locations with a lot of foliage because it hides them from potential predators. The h

Abstract Incomplete lineage sorting and introgression are 2 major and nonexclusive causes of species-level non-monophyly. Distinguishing between these 2 processes is notoriously difficult because they can generate similar genetic signatures. Previous studies have suggested that 2 closely related duck species, the Chinese spot-billed duck Anas zonorhyncha and the mallard A. platyrhynchos were polyphyletically intermixed. Here, we utilized a wide geographical sampling, multilocus data and a coalescent-based model to revisit this system. Our study confirms the finding that Chinese spot-billed duc

AbstractThe Eastern Spot-billed Duck (Anas zonorhyncha) historically was rare in the southern Russian Far East. However, during the last 60–70 years, its breeding range in East Asia has expanded northwest; Eastern Spot-billed Ducks are breeding increasingly within the range of Mallards (A. platyrhynchos). The biodiversity in aquatic systems are indirectly controlled by their nutrient dynamics. The abundance of phytoplanktons and zooplanktons depends on the availability of nutrients such as nitrates, phosphates and silicates since these are the building blocks for their further growth. The phytoplanktons act as prey for the next higher trophic level including various fishes and other small organisms. However, it has not covered Janghang Wetland, which is located in the Han River estuary at the transboundary between the

The present studies deal with winter migratory birds that arrive in à telikunji wetland in Telikunji Village in Ictchapuram mandal of Srikakulam district, Andra Pradesh. The present study reveals that a total of 36 species of wetland birds belonging to 7 orders and 11 families were observed from these wetlands. Out of these 36 species of wetland birds,17 species of birds were winter migratory,6 species were local migratory,11 species were resident, and 2 species were summer migratory. The present studies hint towards those conditions and reasons which have discouraged birds during my study per

Abstract Background Domestication alters several phenotypic, neurological, and physiological traits in domestic animals compared to those in their wild ancestors. Domestic ducks originated from mallards, and some studies have shown that spot-billed ducks may have also made minor genetic contributions to domestication. Compared with the two ancestral species, domestic ducks generally differ in body size and bone morphology. In this study, we performed both genomic and transcriptomic analyses to identify candidate genes for elucidating the genetic mechanisms underlying phenotypic variation. Meth
