Leucine has been proposed as an in vivo regulator of protein metabolism, although the evidence for this in humans remains inconclusive. To test this hypothesis, we infused either L-leucine (154 +/- 1 mumol.kg-1 x h-1) or saline intravenously in six healthy men in two separate studies. The consumption of amino acids by Anastrepha suspensa Loew (Caribbean fruit fly) was quantified by measuring individual fly consumption. For no-choice tests, there were no differences in consumption between 0.2 M sucrose and 0.2 M sucrose plus L-alanine, L-glycine, L-histidine, L-phenylalanine, or L-serine solutions. There was increased consumption of 0.05 M L-lysine by 6-d males and of 0.03 M L-valine solutions by 6-d females compared to sucrose alone. The reactions of [(η3-C3H5)2Rh-μ-Cl]2 with the anions of α-amino acids (glycine, L-alanine, L-valine, L-isoleucine, L-proline, L-phenylalanine, L-phenylglycine, L-thyrosine) afford the N,O-chelates (η3-C3H5)2Rh(α-amino carboxylate). For complex (η3-C3H5)2Rh(glycinate) dynamic behaviour in solution could be observed by 1H NMR. The structure of (η3-C3H5)2Rh(L-prolinate) was determined by X-ray diffraction.

Of the L and D configurations of four amino acids (phenylalanine, valine, tryptophan, tyrosine) tested for influence on the growth rate of Tetrahymena, only L-tyrosine was able to induce imprinting in Tetrahymena pyriformis Zeuthen. D-valine stimulated the division of T.pyriformis NT-1, but failed to induce imprinting. The experiments have substantiated the selectivity of the amino acid receptors of Y.pyriformis, and the extraordinary imprinting potential of tyrosine as well, as judged by its influence on the growth rate.

แพะเป็นสัตว์ที่เลี้ยงง่าย ใช้พื้นที่ในการเลี้ยงน้อย ขยายพันธุ์ได้รวดเร็ว ทำให้ต้นทุนการเลี้ยงต่ำ และยังได้รับการส่งเสริมจากภาครัฐ จึงได้รับความสนใจจากเกษตรกรในการเลี้ยงเพิ่มขึ้น โดยเฉพาะการเลี้ยงเพื่อรีดน้ำนม และนำน้ำนมแพะมาแปรรูปเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ต่าง ๆ แต่เนื่องจากชุมชนยังขาดข้อมูลพื้นฐานเกี่ยวกับน้ำนมแพะ และขาดความรู้ในการแปรรูป ทำให้ผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ผลิตได้มีคุณภาพไม่ได้มาตรฐาน จึงทำให้ผลิตภัณฑ์นมแพะของชุมชนยังไม่ประสบความสำเร็จ โดยเฉพาะการพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์ให้มีความหลายหลายและเหมาะสม ทั้งๆ ที่น้ำนมแพะมีคุณค่าทางโภชนาการที่ดี และร่างกายสามารถดูดซึมไปใช้ประโยชน์ได้ง่ายและรวดเร็ว งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์
