Résumé Une "analyse de besoin" ne semble pas une façon appropriée de rassembler les données nécessaires à la préparation d'expositions muséales à caractère éducatif pour l'adulte. Une "analyse de benefices" semble plus appropriée. Description d'une étude des gains, des bénéfices issus d'une visite à un musée de sciences naturelles réalisée par 45 adultes de 25 à 65 ans. Les principaux résultats de cette étude montrent que le bénéfice majeur d'une visite réside dans le fonctionnement même du visiteur, à cause de la série de plaisirs suscités par ce fonctionnement. Ces plaisirs forment des paires opposées: plaisir de la contemplation et plaisir de l'action; plaisir de la manipulation du monde extérieur et plaisir du retour sur soi-même; plaisir de ce qui se livre dès que l'attention est entière et plaisir de vaincre la difficulté; plaisir de I'imaginaire et plaisir du rationnel; plaisir de la nouveauté et agrément des habitudes. Implications de ces résultats pour l'éducation des adultes. An "analysis of needs" does not appear to be a suitable way of gathering data from which to prepare museum exhibits of an educational nature. An "analysis of benefits" seems to be more appropriate. This study describes the benefits perceived by 45 adults resulting from their visit to a natural history museum. The results indicate that the greatest benefit to the museum visitor is the opposing pleasures that are experienced: pleasure of contemplation and pleasure of action; pleasure of self-reflection and pleasure of interacting with the outside world; pleasure of thinking deeply about a problem and the pleasure of solving the problem; pleasure derived from the imaginary and pleasure of reality; pleasure of novelty and the pleasure associated with routine. Implications of the results for adult education are presented.

Анотація:

Colorization plays an important role in image processing, which aims to change the original image color according to specific image color characteristics. In this article, the authors present a regional color editing method based on multi-cues manipulation, including interactive segmentation, inpainting and gradient-preserving optimization. Firstly, the user draws strokes specifying the target region which needs to change color, through which the target image can be segmented by the K-means color clustering method. Then the example-based inpainting technology is applied to achieve natural transition along the boundary. After color propagation, they apply an optimization algorithm to preserve the gradient. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed approach can not only achieve a visual satisfactory local color propagation results, but also preserve the texture details well.

Robots that succeed in factories may struggle to complete even the simplest daily task that humans take for granted, because the change of environment makes the task exceedingly difficult. Aiming to teach robots to perform daily interactive manipulation in a changing environment using human demonstrations, we collected our own data of interactive manipulation. The dataset focuses on the position, orientation, force, and torque of objects manipulated in daily tasks. The dataset includes 1,603 trials of 32 types of daily motions and 1,596 trials of pouring alone, as well as helper code. We present our dataset to facilitate the research on task-oriented interactive manipulation.

Pour la gestion de séries importantes de données issues de l'étude de nécropoles ou cimetières, la création et le développement d'une base de données s'avèrent ainsi indispensables tant pour le stockage des données brutes que pour leur manipulation : tri, comparaison, analyse. L'outil informatique permet également d'automatiser certaines tâches et de normaliser la présentation des données. Cette note présente l'expérience du service de l'archéologie du département d'Indre-et-Loire en la matière.

Troisième pays du continent africain et premier pays arabe par son poids démographique (93 millions d’habitants en 2017), l’Égypte est l’un des rares pays au sud de la Méditerranée à disposer d’un recensement intégral et régulier de sa population depuis deux siècles. Les premiers recensements publiés datent de 1882 et 1897. À partir de cette date, ils s’échelonnent quasiment tous les dix ans jusqu’à aujourd’hui, livrant un ensemble précieux d’indicateurs démographiques, sociaux et économiques (sexe, âge, profession, statut économique, niveau d’éducation, etc.). Le niveau de spatialisation des résultats de ces quatorze recensements est d’une constance et d’une finesse remarquables, offrant une collection patrimoniale exceptionnelle de statistiques, avec plus de 20 millions de données démographiques et socio-économiques disponibles.Les données des recensements antérieurs (1986, 1976, 1966) sont consignées dans des livres en vente au CAPMAS (Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics). D’autres équipes de recherche interdisciplinaires ont partagé les données sur l’Égypte, notamment l’Observatoire démographique de la Méditerranée dont le site web propose une base de données démographiques et un atlas interactif sur l’ensemble des pays du pourtour méditerranéen, offrant des perspectives de comparaison au sein de la région Méditerranée (http://demomed.org/index.php/fr/). Toutefois, ce portail ne propose pas d’accès aux indicateurs socio-économiques contenus dans les recensements égyptiens, livrant seulement les données sur la population et sa structure, tandis que l’atlas interactif propose une seule variable (la densité de population) à une échelle d’analyse de premier niveau (gouvernorat) par souci d’harmonisation des données à l’échelle pan-euro-méditerranéenne. En bref, cet outil de cartographie existant ne se décline pas à l’échelle intermédiaire des cantons égyptiens (markaz/qism) ou à l’échelle plus fine du village et du quartier urbain (qaria/shiyakha).La plateforme web de cartographie interactive entreprise avec le CAPMAS est en ligne depuis 2019 : www.cedejcapmas.org. Il s’agit d’un outil innovant en ce qu’il partage une base de données à la fois démographiques et socio-économiques, et en ce qu’il procède à un travail de géocodage de chaque entité administrative selon le dernier recensement de 2017. Son originalité réside ainsi dans le suivi temporel des localités sur deux siècles et dans l’outil interactif de cartographie dynamique. Le portail web comporte également des notices historiques de toutes les circonscriptions administratives égyptiennes (au total 5 779 villages et quartiers urbains), l’évolution du découpage administratif du territoire égyptien de 1882 à nos jours, et un répertoire administratif des localités afin d’autoriser les comparaisons diachroniques sur deux siècles, malgré les remaniements administratifs. Même si une personne n’a jamais révélé un élément d’information personnel ou intime, il est maintenant possible de recourir à l’analyse prédictive pour générer cet élément à son insu et à partir de vastes quantités de données disponibles. Les données générées peuvent servir à prendre des décisions sur les personnes et mener à de la manipulation et de la discrimination. Le RGPD, en tant que régime de protection des données, est essentiellement fondé sur l’autodétermination informationnelle. Nous expliquerons que cette approche ne protège pas adéquatement les individus des risques soulevés par l’analyse prédictive et ignore les enjeux collectifs liés à ce type d’analyse. Nous plaiderons en faveur de l’ajout d’une protection sociétale, soit un encadrement législatif des utilisations de données suivant une approche fondée sur le risque. Nous suggérerons deux manières d’ancrer cet encadrement dans le RGPD. Nous rappellerons que la protection des données s’enracine dans le droit à la vie privée et les valeurs éthiques qu’il défend. Using natural-language feedback to guide image generation and manipulation can greatly lower the required efforts and skills. This topic has received increased attention in recent years through refinement of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs); however, most existing works are limited to single-round interaction, which is not reflective of real world interactive image editing workflows. Furthermore, previous works dealing with multi-round scenarios are limited to predefined feedback sequences, which is also impractical. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for Text-based Interactive image generation and manipulation (TiGAN) that responds to users' natural-language feedback. TiGAN utilizes the powerful pre-trained CLIP model to understand users' natural-language feedback and exploits contrastive learning for a better text-to-image mapping. To maintain the image consistency during interactions, TiGAN generates intermediate feature vectors aligned with the feedback and selectively feeds these vectors to our proposed generative model. Empirical results on several datasets show that TiGAN improves both interaction efficiency and image quality while better avoids undesirable image manipulation during interactions.

RÉSUMÉ Le Programme de recherche en démographie historique (P.R.D.H.) du Département de démographie de l’Université de Montréal s’est donné pour tâche de reconstituer, à partir des registres paroissiaux, la population du Québec, de ses origines à 1850. Contraint d’utiliser les ordinateurs puisqu’une telle entreprise implique la manipulation de masses considérables d’informations, le P.R.D.H. a dû mettre au point un processus d’élaboration des données qui soit adapté à l’informatique. Ce processus comprend une série d’opérations distinctes : le dépouillement, le contrôle de l’intégralité du dépouillement, le codage, la mise en ordre chronologique, la perforation, la détection des erreurs et leur correction. Quoique livrant des données d’une excellente qualité, ce processus s’est montré trop lent et onéreux pour être utilisé sur de très grandes quantités de données. Heureusement l’avènement des micro-ordinateurs a permis au P.R.D.H. d’améliorer le processus en éliminant certaines étapes et en facilitant les autres. Cette expérience est d’un grand intérêt puisqu’elle constitue la première utilisation sur une grande échelle de micro-ordinateurs dans un processus d’élaboration des données tirées de documents très anciens.

Ideally the data should be from several wavelengths and should be as quantitative as possible. This leads to the concept of developing simultaneous interactive access to sky surveys, initially at optical wavelengths, and with state-of-the-art information systems for all field objects. In order to satisfy this requirement, the CDS (Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg) is developing a ‘Deep Sky Mapping Facility’ project, Aladin, which aims to connect the data stored at CDS (astronomical catalogues and Simbad), to pixel data from continuously updated deep optical sky surveys.

This paper designs an interactive system of intelligent robots for children's education, which includes interactive desktop devices and interactive robot devices. Teaching and interactive content can be displayed through the display surface of the interactive desktop device. A user manipulates the display surface via gesture manipulation or teaching tools. Interactive desktop devices perform interactive information gathering. A new time series similarity measurement method is given. The display surface and the interactive robotic device provide interactive feedback to the user through sounds, images, and lights. The guidance and interactive operation of the interactive robot on the display surface enhances the effect of the interactive operation. The effectiveness of this method is verified by simulation experiments.

Airborne LiDAR data: relevance of visual interpretation for forestry Airborne LiDAR surveys are particularly well adapted to map, study and manage large forest extents. Products derived from this technology are increasingly used by managers to establish a general diagnosis of the condition of forests. Less common is the use of these products to conduct detailed analyses on small areas; for example creating detailed reference maps like inventories or timber marking to support field operations. In this context, the use of direct visual interpretation is interesting, because it is much easier to implement than automatic algorithms and allows a quick and reliable identification of zonal (e.g. forest edge, deciduous/persistent ratio), structural (stratification) and point (e.g. tree/stem position and height) features. This article examines three important points which determine the relevance of visual interpretation: acquisition parameters, interactive representation and identification of forest characteristics. It is shown that the use of thematic color maps within interactive 3D point cloud and/or cross-sections makes it possible to establish (for all strata) detailed and accurate maps of a parcel at the individual tree scale.

Rational drug design is an approach based on detailed knowledge of molecular interactions and dynamic of bio-molecules. This approach involves designing new digital and interactive tools including classical desktop interaction devices as well as advanced ones such as haptic arms or virtual reality devices. These approaches however struggle to deal with flexibility of bio-molecules by simultaneously steering the numerous degrees of freedom. We propose a new method that follows a direct interaction approach by implementing an innovative methodology benefiting from a physical, modular and articulated molecular interface augmented by wireless embedded sensors. The goal is to create, design and steer its in silico twin virtual model and better interact with dynamic molecular models.

Because of the micro/nano manipulation's complexity, the accurate feedback information of the micro interactive force acting on micro devices is quite important and necessary for micro/nano manipulation, especially the 2-D micro interactive force feedback information. At present, there are no reliable and accurate 2-D micro force sensors applied in micro/nano manipulation. To solve the above problem, a novel 2-D micro force sensor that can reliably measure force in the range of submicro Newton (μN) is designed and developed in this paper. Based on the model of 1-D micro force sensor designed by us, the model of this 2-D sensor is set up. To verify the model of the 2-D sensor, micromanipulation experiments are designed and realized. Experiment results show the submicro Newton resolution, and verify the validity of the 2-D sensor's model. The developed 2-D micro force sensor will contribute to promoting the complexity of micro/nano manipulation, and will facilitate to automate the micro/nano manipulation.

This paper describes an immersive system, called 3DIVE, for interactive volume data visualization and exploration inside the CAVE virtual environment. Combining interactive volume rendering and virtual reality provides a natural immersive environment for volumetric data visualization. More advanced data exploration operations, such as object level data manipulation, simulation and analysis, are supported in 3DIVE by several new techniques: volume primitives and texture regions are used for the rendering, manipulation, and collision detection of volumetric objects; the region based rendering pipeline is integrated with 3D image filters to provide an image-based mechanism for interactive transfer function design; a collaborative visualization module allows remote sites to collaborate over common datasets with passive or active view sharing. The system has been recently released as public domain software for CAVE/ImmersaDesk users, and is currently being actively used by a 3D microscopy visualization project.
