Abstract In practice, the industry and the business sector have felt the impact of the coronavirus that has spread around the world. Today it is not known when the system will recover, but it is already quite clear that the post-covid reality will require radically new approaches to the organization of mining operations. Usually, the conservative mining industry in Russia has felt the influence of new trends set by the pandemic, such as, for example, the transition of employees to remote work, which has spurred an accelerated transition to automated work; a change in the distribution chain, are inseparable from the closure of borders, the acquisition of new skills from staff, and others. This article focuses on the development of mining assets in the mining industry. The article concretizes the essence of geometry. Appropriate solutions for end-to-end optimization of the “mine-factory” system are outlined due to a deep understanding of the characteristics of the ore and the introduction of digital tools. The most popular innovations necessary for implementation into the modern mining process have been identified, ranked according to the categories “Production materials, technologies and equipment”, “Automation and digitalization”, “Field development”, “Technologies of deep processing of raw materials: green chemistry”, “Technologies of deep processing “processing of raw materials: green metallurgy”. The production assets of the Polar Division are analyzed using the example of PJSC Mining and Metallurgical Company Norilsk Nickel. As a project initiative to improve the efficiency of ore mining within the mine field, the reconstruction of a skip ventilation shaft from a cage to a skip-cage is being created. A variant of solving the geomechanical problems of the company is being considered.

Introduction. The article evaluates the importance of mineral resource potential for Russian economic security. The mining science plays crucial role in creating reliable mineral resource base and in mining development. Research aim and relevance. The development of mining sectors in the deteriorating mining engineering conditions, which were caused by increasing depth of opencasting, the impoverishment of mined raw materials, and reserves depletion in the richest deposits required improved engineering, technology and organization of integrated development in the deep horizons of operating mining enterprises and development of low quality deposits in remote regions with poor infrastructure. In this regard, it is required to drastically revise the strategy of Russian mineral resource base development. Methodology. Approaches to solid mineral deposits integrated development rationale were analyzed based on the principles of consistency, complexity, interdisciplinarity and innovation taking into account the transition processes in order to adapt mining engineering systems of mining enterprises to changing operating conditions. Results. The definition is given to the strategy of deep-seated pitching deposits exploitation, taking into account the growth of geological, mining and technical, and economic information in the dynamics of mining development. The aspects of developing deposits in northern regions and in the regions considered equivalent to northern are highlighted, including complex development of territories through mineral resource centers creation.

Since the beginning of the civilization emergence, people began to use the minerals extraction on the surface of the Earth and the rock mass transportation. One of the main tasks of the mining industry is the transportation of an increasing rock mass amount from the quarry, which has caused the need to increase the power and carrying capacity of mining dump trucks. Today, we can assume that the revolutionary period of increasing the carrying capacity in the creation of heavy-duty dump trucks is over. Further improvement of the designs of frame dump trucks is impractical. To create super-powerful dump trucks capable of efficiently transporting rock mass from deep horizons, fundamentally different designs of machines and power plants are needed. The most important requirement for promising machines is to minimize the negative impact on the environment. In its development, mining vehicles have come a long way: a hand wheelbarrow - a horse cart - a truck - a diesel mining dump truck - a diesel-electric mining dump truck - an electric mining dump truck - an unmanned electric mining dump truck. According to the law of the transition from quantity to quality, it can be assumed that the period of increasing the carrying capacity of mining dump trucks has ended (quantitative changes), and a new period of qualitative changes begins (the development of new types of mining transport, an increase in the specific capacity of a power plant, the use of other energy carriers, etc.). An important area is the use of artificial intelligence: robotic dump trucks, self-diagnostic systems, etc. The main requirement for promising machines is to reduce the cost of transporting rock mass and a minimum negative impact on the environment.

To deepen the student’s comprehension and visual impression of mining knowledge while avoiding the risk and cost of visiting real mines, a virtual mine teaching platform was developed with 3DS as modelling tool and virtools as programming tool. Having this teaching platform, students can visually obverse the 3D layout of mines and mining procedures, roam about the mine, and even manipulate the mining device interactively, get judgment of his actions. This teaching platform greatly enhance the efficiency, safety and quality of mining speciality education, it also has good prospect to mine staff training and mining experiment.

A comprehensive systemic approach is needed to make effective decisions for global sustainability. The system’s points of view introduced sustainable development (S.D.) and sustainability in prior years. Sustainable development is expressed as a desire followed by humanity to live in a better condition considering all the limits that nature could have. Social, environmental, and economic responsibilities are the wide-ranging developmental characteristics that form sustainability. In this paper, with the help of search engines like Scopus and Web of Science, several documents related to environmental sustainability in the mining industry were studied. The principal investigated problems were tailings dam failure, forestland use in mining operations, social and environmental issues in crushed stone mining industries, landfill mining challenges, climatic problems, economic problems, and fatalities in artisanal and small-scale mines. Also, a table was designed to categorise these problems and determine the solution and primary goal. This study investigates the severity of mining operation conditions and environmental issues in this industry. The common environmental problems in the mining industry include soil degradation, deforestation, land subsidence, acid mine drainage, waste production, natural landscape destruction, coal production, carbon footprint, dust pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and climatic problems. To have a more sustainable mining industry, all the mining stages, from the exploration to the post-closure stages, must minimise resource and energy consumption and waste products.

ABSTRACTProstitution has been linked by many historians and social commentators to the industrial development and capitalism of the modern age, and there is no better example of this than the prostitution that developed in mining regions from the mid-nineteenth century. Using research on mining-related prostitution, and other social histories of mining communities where prostitution inevitably forms a part, large or small, of the historian's analysis of the mining region, this article will review, contrast, and compare prostitution in various mining contexts, in different national and colonial settings. From the American and Canadian gold rushes in the mid- and late nineteenth century, to the more established mining frontiers of the later North American West, to the corporate mining towns of Chile in the interwar years, to the copper and gold mines of southern Africa and Kenya in the first half of the twentieth century, commercial sex was present and prominent as the mining industry and mining communities developed.1 Challenging the simplistic images and stereotypes of prostitution that are popularly associated with the American mining frontier, historians have shown that prostitution's place in mining communities, and its connection to industrial development, was as complex as it was pervasive and enduring.

National mineral and coal mining is the most crucial part of supporting non-tax state revenue (PNBP) in Indonesia. Mining Inspectors (IT) in Indonesia play a very crucial role in ensuring proper and correct mining activities management. The position of Mining Inspector has Competency Standards, formal education, work experience, and attitudes that have been regulated by the government. So far, there has been no research conducted to answer the question of whether the competencies possessed by each Mining Inspector can improve the performance of supervision in mineral and coal mining engineering and environmental aspects. This research was conducted on all Mining Inspectors in Java and Sumatra using a saturated sample. The data was then processed using SmartPLS data processing software. It was revealed in this research that Formal Education, Work Experience, and Competency Development have a positive and significant influence on Organizational Performance. Competency Development can act as a mediator of the influence of the two exogenous variables on Organizational Performance. Through these findings, stakeholders are expected to design programs to improve formal education, work experience, and the competencies of Mining Inspectors.

Studying mining fracture development is vital for geotechnical and mining engineering and geological disaster prevention. This research assesses crack effects on rock mass stress equilibrium during coal mining, potentially causing geological disasters such as land subsidence and landslides. Using fractal geometry theory, the present study investigates the development of horizontal and vertical mining cracks, revealing their propagation patterns. The fractal dimension generally increases as the propulsion distance increases; however, fluctuations vary from 250 to 287.5 m, forming a wavering line chart. The proportion of mining fracture area relative to mining space area increases with greater propulsion distance, indicating expanded upward mining space due to separation layers. The horizontal distribution of mining cracks persists, while the vertical distribution decreases, suggesting ground subsidence results from upward transmission. The fastest increase in fractal dimension occurs at 87.5–100 m. At 250 m, it peaks at 1.4136, indicating complex crack structures. During propulsion, the fractal dimension decreases due to upward mining space expansion through overlying rock layer collapse, forming new cracks. The proportion of mining crack area to mining space area increases gradually throughout the mining process. The present study presents a simulation model for crack identification, noting limitations in identifying tiny cracks.

Coal mining in China is facing the transition from output to quality. Based on the total mining capacity and average production, the current situation of coal mining at mine, city, and province levels is analysed, and data in support for the layout of sustainable mining development and the optimization of output provided. The results show that 87% of China's coal is mined by underground methods, with an average production capacity of 0.93 Mt/a per mine. Open pit mining accounts for 13%, with an average mine production capacity of 5.73 Mt/a. The average mining capacity of coal mines in China is 1.05 Mt/a, with 1181 coal mines with an average capacity less than 0.3 Mt/a, accounting for 35% of the total coal mines but contributing only 4.51% to output. They are distributed in about 48 cities in six provinces, seriously restricting the transition to green coal mining. The coal industry should speed up the closure of small coal mines in key provinces and cities, eliminate outdated production capacity in the central region, increase the speed and proportion of coal resources moving westward, and promote high-quality development of coal mining.

Abstract The legislative system that provides for the socio-economic development of mining communities in South Africa has been under significant scrutiny in recent times. Various instances of conflict between mining communities and mining companies, of which the Marikana Massacre of 2012 is certainly the most noteworthy, show that mining communities expect mining companies to contribute more to the improvement of their living conditions. The relationship between mining communities and mining companies are exposed to the various socio-economic challenges that other sectors of the South African economy currently face. However, considering the legislative system in the mining industry specifically and in terms of a conceptual approach may show to the unique challenges the industry faces when it comes to mine community development. A conceptual approach requires asking whether the way in which the legislative system is framed and the rhetoric it promotes do not create expectations with mining communities that cannot be met by mining companies, because mining communities are not accurately depicted in the legislative system. The legislative system promotes “mine community development” by means of a complex interaction between various pieces of legislation and policy guidelines. At the centre of this interaction are the definitions of “community” and “mine community”. These definitions have been amended quite a few times since the enactment of the legislative system, attesting to the difficulty for the law to capture “community”. The latest iterations of the definitions are criticised for their ambiguity, causing uncertainty as to who should benefit from mine community development. This paper proposes that there is a conceptual problem when catering for communities, and not individuals, in a development paradigm, posing challenges for accurately defining “community”. It is not argued that community development should not be promoted, but a possible reason for why mine community development is not successful is proposed. The South African mining legislative system will be considered in parallel with relevant international legal instruments.

In this article, we show the importance of potash fertilizers produced by PJSC Uralkali, Berezniki, Perm Territory for agriculture and the economy in general. А process of potas¬sium ore underground mining is described from breaking up moment till transportation to the surface. An importance of production planning for the mining enterprise functioning is substantiated. Various levels of plan-ning, from a general production plan to a weekly and daily plans are described. The problem of such planning at PJSC Uralkali is in using only integral performance indicators, it leads to significant errors. It is proposed to use simulation modeling as a possible solution to the problem. Purpose of work. The purpose of this work is to develop a simulation model of mining operations, from the process of breaking and transporting ore to a conveyor-transport system, and to test model’s applicability for ore mining planning. Since the existing software has a number of limitations in applies to potash mines, a specialized object-oriented library allows modeling queuing systems, multi-agent and active systems is used as a basis for modeling. The limitations and as-sumptions of the model are described. Materials and methods. The model is igned as a determinis-tic automaton. The end point for ore mining process modeling is the transfer of ore to the unloading point, because further transportation of ore is not a limiting factor for mining. Conclusion. The spe-cial states of all objects of the system including mining combine – self-propelled car – unloading point and all possible transitions between them are described. A data from open sources is taken to check the adequacy of the model. Changes in the simulation results are investigated for various in-put parameters in the developed software. The simulation results are of a pulsating character due to the periodic execution of the harvester drive away. A productivity of the combine decreases with an increase in the distance traveled by a self-propelled car. The possibility of transition to a stochas-tic model is investigated. An expected decrease due to an increase in the downtime of the combine is shown. A conclusion about the applicability of the model to improve the quality of planning for un-derground potassium ore mining is made based on obtained data.

Анотація:

The article is aimed at improving development mining to prepare an ore body for stoping by access ramps to provide comfortable conditions and high technical and economic indices in underground mining. Efficient parameters of underground mining are chosen in the course of simulating data on the mining theory and practice considering ore losses and dilution on the basis of critical analysis of uranium mining enterprises’ activities. The research provides data on geological and engineering zoning of an ore deposit and physical-mechanical properties of ore bearing rocks. The advanced experience is systemized and there is provided system analysis of modern development mining schemes with access ramps (ring, spiral, one-way inclined, central inclined and across the strike). The research recommends schemes of development mining and substantiates their advantages. There are quantitative indices of physical simulation of development variants as to drawn ore quality according to criteria of soil location in ore draw points. The scientific novelty implies developing the criterion of optimality and ranking variants of development mining according to technical-economic and geomechanical indices considering some technological factors as well as the number of stopes operating simultaneously on the level. The study consists in increasing authenticity of development projects through applying complex schemes of access ramps according to the complex criterion of increasing mining depths, equipment application, ventilation and underground mine capacity.

How to mining useful information and knowledge from large database is becoming a more and more popular research topic. Introduction. The article contains information on the development of technology for the development of man - made deposits represented by the tailings of mining and processing of coal mines in the coal - mining regions of the country. The development of the resources of man - made deposits will stimulate the integrated development of the mining region and increase its economic attractiveness. Research methods include the analysis of best practices, literature sources, analysis of the results of field and remote observations, laboratory experiments and mathematical modeling. The results of the research. The experience of borehole excavation is generalized and is widely used in the underground and open - pit mining of coal deposits and tailings dumps, as well as sand deposits. Information is provided on a new technology for mining man - made deposits using a drilling rig for destruction and delivery of raw materials by rotating and feeding a drilling screw shaft. Calculation models are given to determine the parameters of mining a man - made deposit by a drilling rig using conveyor transport. The organizational factors of using the machine during the shift and technological factors are detailed, taking into account the conditions of its operation differentially in a specific situation. The issues of geomechanics of the drilling process with the calculation of the size of the natural collapse arch above the borehole and the natural collapse arch are considered. The advantages of auger mining of technogenic deposits are substantiated in comparison with existing technologies and an assessment of the prospects for using this technology in the development of technogenic deposits of coal - mining regions is given. Resume. The proposed technology for the development of man - made deposits has a promising use and is provided by the use of continuous operation technology, cost minimization and the possibility of selective extraction of raw materials and is recommended for the development of solid minerals at mining enterprises

This study explores the history of the emergence of the gold mining sector in the mining industry of Yakutia during the early stages of the Soviet-style economy. Despite the longstanding presence of artisanal gold mining in Yakutia, the industrial development of gold in the republic was not considered until the mid1922. The establishment of the Yakut ASSR played a crucial role in shaping the real prospects for gold mining development. The management structure, including the People’s Commissariat of Trade and Industry under the republican government with industrial and mining departments, successfully coordinated activities such as organizing expeditions to survey deposits, developing work plans, recruiting personnel, and addressing supply issues in mining areas. It is concluded that through the coordinated efforts of the Yakut ASSR government, the state trust “Aldanzoloto” of local significance was established within a short period, showcasing the competence of the autonomous republic in organizing the creation of the foundations of mining production. Valuable experience accumulated over three years laid the groundwork for the seamless integration of Yakutia’s gold mining industry into the unified economic system of the USSR.

Introduction. In the industrial regions of Ukraine, the structure of nature formed over a long period without objective laws of development and recovery of natural resource systems and ecosystems. All natural ecosystems (atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere) have undergone forceful anthropogenic pressure. Chemical, radioactive and other pollution of the natural environment causes various, often incurable diseases, irreversible changes in the genetic structure of cells, which leads to an increase in the birth rate of defective generations. A special place in this context takes ecological safety in mining complexes. Mining complexes interrelated processes of human impact on the environment to provide raw materials and energy resources of various fields of economic activity. In a broad sense, the resource means as sources of matter and space - the environment of their location and life.Purpose. The purpose of the work is to highlight the importance of environmental safety management in mining complexes and areas for improvement.Methods. We used the methods of theoretical research to improve environmental safety in the mining complexes.Results. Based on theoretical research and improving environmental safety in mining complexes, the following measures are needed: control over the environment, reproduction and protection of its resources, improvement of natural living conditions, improvement of mining complexes as an environmental safety management system.Following environmental principles, it is necessary to manage the environment safety of mining complexes with the involvement of existing tools and methods of environmental analysis, as environment safety of this activity is of great importance for all areas of the environment. It is a question of studying of the zones of technogenic influence which are forming around dumps of mine breeds, and maintenance of physical, chemical stability of mining wastes. Management of ecological safety in mining areas will allow excluding the occurrence of the ecological-extreme situation after completion of the operation of coal deposits and during the future use of the disturbing territories. Stimulating self-education and ecological education, practical activity is at the same time a kind of generator in the process of developing beliefs in the main direction of the knowledge of conscious and responsible attitude to nature, ecological consciousness.Conclusion. Reasonable measures must regulate the impact of mining complexes on the environment. That means the monitoring of the state of the environment in mining areas; assessment of the threat of environmental hazards; prevention of complication of the ecological situation of the mining area (reclamation, phytomeliorative measures of heaps); development (implementation) of appropriate programs aimed at reducing environmental hazards.

Historically perceived as one of the most damaging industries, it is evolving towards more sustainable practices. This transition aims to balance economic interests with social justice and environmental conservation, thereby enhancing the resilience of local communities and the sustainability of ecosystems. This literature review adopts a narrative approach to synthesize current knowledge on sustainable development in the mining sector, emphasizing the importance of a holistic integration of sustainability that includes social and environmental dimensions. It identifies technological innovation and ecological rehabilitation as essential pillars, while highlighting the crucial role of governance strategies and social equity to ensure a fair distribution of benefits and improve the living conditions of local communities. In conclusion, this review proposes a multidisciplinary conceptualization of sustainable mining development, stressing the need for integrated management policies and responsible practices to address current challenges.

Relevance. Long periods of development of steeply dipping deposits necessitate multiple adjustments of mining and technical system throughout an open pit life cycle. The decisions made determine the development strategy of a mining enterprise for a long period. The complexity of making such strategic decisions depends on numerous influencing parameters. These parameters have a different impact, have a variety of units of measurement, target values, and are not only quantitative but also qualitative. There is a need for new approaches to the choice of development strategy of the mining and technical system of an open pit, as well as its main subsystem – the opening-up of an opencast system. It is proposed to base these approaches on multi-criteria decision-making methods that consider many influencing parameters. Aim. Development of a methodology for choosing a strategy for sustainable development of the deep open pit mining and technical system based on multi-criteria decision-making methods and assessment of the opening system parameters. Objects. Mining enterprise, mining and technical systems, opening system. Methods. Literature review, system analysis, multi-criteria decision making. Results. The authors have determined the main strategies for development of the mining and technical system for deep open pits. These strategies aim at achieving the sustainable development of the mining and technical system: adjustment of the current stage mining parameters; transition to a new stage of mining; transition to a combined open-underground mining; mine closure. The key role of the opening system in the structure of the mining and technical system is substantiated to ensure its sustainable development. The authors systematized the main parameters for evaluating the pit opening system and set target values for each parameter. A review of the main multi-criteria decision-making methods used to solve various problems in the mining industry is made. A rank coefficient is proposed for choosing the mining and technical system development strategy. The calculation of this coefficient is based on a combination of the fuzzy AHP and CRADIS multi-criteria methods. A method was developed for selecting a strategy for sustainable development of the mining and technical system of deep open pits. A case study was conducted on the conditions of the Maly Kuibas open pit. The obtained results strongly suggest that the best strategy with the highest ranking is the transition to the combined development method.

This article reflects on the potential of the mining industry to incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) into its management, in addition to considering the negative impacts that this industry has on the environment and assesses how they can be incorporated into mining activity. This process begins by analyzing the singularities of the concept of sustainable development proposed in the "Our Common Future" report, which highlights the need to conceptualize it for mining, looking for the points of coincidence that mining has with the SDG, which open up a real space for community interaction between mining companies and society, in which it is possible to create conditions for the emergence of alternative economic activities to the closure of mines. The aim of this article is to analyses the relationship between the SDG and mining as a way of visualizing the real possibility that mining can contribute to the fulfilment of these goals through compensation that facilitates the emergence of alternative economic activities to mine closure. The literature review is based on classic documents on sustainable development, those specific to the SDG and those specific to mining. As a result, it is hoped to produce a study that will serve as a reference for drawing up sustainability policies in mining areas.

Mining makes a positive contribution to the economy of Indonesia. Significant earnings accrue through the export of tin, coal, copper, nickel and gold. Of these commodities, gold carries the highest unit value. But not all gold mining is regulated. Indonesia has a significant Artisanal and Small Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) industry, defined as any informal and unregulated system of gold mining. These operations are often illegal, unsafe and are environmentally and socially destructive. New technology is needed to support the sustainable exploitation of gold and other precious metal resources in locations where ASGM is currently practised. This technology must be simple, cheap, easy to operate and financially rewarding. A proven option that needs to be promoted is phytoextraction. This is technology where plants are used to extract metals from waste rock, soil or water. These metals can subsequently be recovered from the plant in pure form, and sold or recycled. Gold phytoextraction is a commercially available technology, while international research has shown that phytoextraction will also work for mercury. In the context of ASGM operations, tailings could be contained in specific â€˜farming areasâ€™ and cropped using phytoextraction technology. The banning of ASGM operations is not practicable or viable. Poverty would likely become more extreme if a ban were enforced. Instead, new technology options are essential to promote the sustainable development of this industry. Phytoextraction would involve community and worker engagement, education and employment. New skills in agriculture created through application of the technology would be transferrable to the production of food, fibre and timber crops on land adjacent to the mining operations. Phytoextraction could therefore catalyse sustainable development in artisanal gold mining areas throughout Indonesia.

Intelligent unmanned mining is a key process in coal mine production, which has direct impact on the production safety, coal output, economic benefits and social benefits of coal mine enterprises. With the rapid development and popularization of 5G+ intelligent mines and coal mine intelligent equipment in China, the intelligentization of intelligent unmanned mining has become an important research topic. Especially with the promulgation of some Chinese policies and regulations, intelligent unmanned mining technology has become one of the key technologies of coal mine production. To understand the connotation, status quo and development trends of intelligent unmanned mining, this paper takes the relationship between key technologies and engineering application of intelligent unmanned mining in China as the perspective. It is proposed that the intelligent unmanned mining technology is in the whole process of working face mining. A research structure of unmanned follow-up operation and safe patrol is changing to the mode of intelligent adaptive mining, followed by the basic concepts and characteristics of intelligent unmanned mining. Relevant researches that maybe beneficial to the proposed research content are reviewed in four layers, which include basic theory, key technology, mining mode, and overall design system theory and technology. Finally, the current intelligent unmanned mining mode and future trends in this field in China are summarized.

This article aimed to discuss mining environment restoration regulations. The government has established a number of policies concerning reclamation and post-mining. However, the critical question is whether these policies can ensure the rehabilitation of the mining environment in accordance with sustainable development goals, given the numerous unreclaimed and abandoned mining pits that have resulted in several fatalities. The purpose of this study is to examine reclamation and post-mining management standards in order to reduce the environmental damage caused by mining activities. This normative legal study gathered data from documents examined qualitatively. The data analysis is descriptive-analytic in nature. The study's findings indicate that environmental law enforcement in the mining sector continues to face significant challenges. There is a need to enhance legislation and systems governing mining management. Standardization of reclamation and post-mining management is necessary to offer rules for implementation that suit the needs of the community. It has no adverse effect on the community surrounding the mining location. Licensing is one policy that can apply to implement standardization. Supervising land management following mining, management of waste, and developing policies promote environmentally friendly mining and conservation activities.

A retrospective analysis of the development, state and types of open-pit mining technology and systems for the development of coal mines in Kuzbass has been carried out. It is shown that during the mining of deposits, the open spaces left on the sections after the completion of mining operations from the workings and the mountains of external dumps are prone to erosive manifestations and change for the worse the relief of the earth's surface and the state of the air environment of the territory that has developed in natural conditions. At the same time, the absence of a systematic approach to the restoration of the lands disturbed by open mining operations at the coal mines of the basins, as well as a system for the complete development of all layers of the coal formation on the cut working horizons determines the need to reduce the areas of the disturbed surfaces of the cut field by open mining and reduce the withdrawal of land areas for external rock dumps.

Mineral demand rapidly increases; as a result, underground mining activities gradually dig into the earth’s crust to deeper levels. For instance, the depth of coal mines has reached 1500 m, whereas the depth of mines for nonferrous metals has already achieved around 4500 m. Deep mining faces a number of technical and environmental challenges, first of all, great rock mass stresses, high temperature and long winding distance. The traditional technologies are hardly capable to provide the development and extraction efficiency and safety. That is why the need in developing and implementation of new modern mining technologies arose. In roadheading, TBM (tunnelboring machine) method is gradually introduced. A TBM combines the functions of rock breaking, support installation, mucking and conveying rock. In mining industry, smart mining based on mechanized and automated mining methods is successfully implemented at coal mines. Besides, a technical concept of fluidized mining for deepseated mineral resources (6000 m and more) was proposed. This paper presents the review of the current global status of deep mining and highlights some of the newest technological achievements in roadheading and the mineral extraction processes.
