Face aux nouveaux défis que constituent la globalisation, les évolutions technologiques et les évolutions démographiques, la formation revêt aujourd’hui une importance cruciale dans le développement de la ressource humaine en organisation. Ce domaine est actuellement dominé, tant du point de vue scientifique que de celui des pratiques, par deux grands courants : le courant psychosociologique et le courant ergonomique. Si l’apport de l’un comme de l’autre est incontestable, on constate une grande méconnaissance entre ces deux courants, ainsi que l’absence d’un dialogue et d’une mise en perspective scientifique. Cette contribution propose d’initier cette démarche, à la fois dans l’optique de développer les pratiques des formateurs – qu’il s’agisse de professionnels de la formation ou de personnes appelées à jouer ce rôle ponctuellement dans leur carrière –, mais aussi d’aider les commanditaires de formation à mieux orienter leurs choix de formation grâce à une meilleure compréhension des deux approches. De cette mise en perspective réalisée à partir tant des travaux historiques que des recherches les plus récentes, il ressort d’abord plusieurs points communs. (1) Une volonté de développer de nouveaux modes d’apprentissage, nourris par des recherches scientifiques, et qui rompent avec les approches scolaires. (2) Un lien fort établi entre théorie et action, avec des pratiques qui articulent la pratique et la connaissance, l’intervention sur l’organisation et l’apprentissage individuel. (3) Une vision de l’apprentissage comme résultant de l’action combinée avec la réflexion sur l’action. En contraste avec ces fondements communs, plusieurs points de divergences se prêtant à de fructueux échanges sont identifiés. (1) Un ancrage prioritaire sur le groupe pour les approches psychosociologiques, sur le travail pour les approches ergonomiques. (2) Une centration sur les aspects plutôt fonctionnels et spécifiques du travail pour l’approche ergonomique, plutôt sur les aspects relationnels et transversaux pour l’approche psychosociologique. (3) Quatre points sur lesquels des échanges de techniques seraient profitables. (4) Une controverse sur la question du lien – nécessaire ou non – entre travail et formation. En prenant acte de la complémentarité des deux approches (à la fois compatibles et différentes), il apparaît utile d’entreprendre un dialogue tant dans une optique de lisibilité des pratiques de formation en organisation que d’efficacité. Un tel constat invite donc les formateurs à intensifier leurs échanges, et les commanditaires à mobiliser les apports conjoints des deux approches afin de développer au mieux les ressources humaines de leurs organisations.

ABSTRACT We investigate observational constraints on cosmological parameters combining 15 measurements of the transversal BAO scale (obtained free of any fiducial cosmology) with Planck–CMB data to explore the parametric space of some cosmological models. We investigate how much Planck + transversal BAO data can constraint the minimum Lambda cold dark matter (ΛCDM) model, and extensions, including neutrinos mass scale Mν, and the possibility for a dynamical dark energy (DE) scenario. Assuming the ΛCDM cosmology, we find H0 = 69.23 ± 0.50 km s−1 Mpc−1, Mν < 0.11 eV, and rdrag = 147.59 ± 0.26 Mpc (the sound horizon at drag epoch) from Planck + transversal BAO data. When assuming a dynamical DE cosmology, we find that the inclusion of the BAO data can indeed break the degeneracy of the DE free parameters, improving the constraints on the full parameter space significantly. We note that the model is compatible with local measurements of H0 and there is no tension on H0 estimates in this dynamical DE context. Also, we discuss constraints and consequences from a joint analysis with the local H0 measurement from SH0ES. Finally, we perform a model-independent analysis for the deceleration parameter, q(z), using only information from transversal BAO data.

Vibrations of slender structures associated with the external flow present a design challenge for the energy production systems placed in the marine environment. The current study explores the accuracy of the semi-empirical wake oscillator models for vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) based on the optimization of (a) the damping term and (b) empirical coefficients in the fluid equation. This work investigates the effect of ten fluid damping variations, from the classic van der Pol to more sophisticated fifth-order terms, and prediction of the simplified case of the VIV of transversally oscillating rigid structures provides an opportunity for an extended, comprehensive comparison of the performance of tuned models. A constrained nonlinear minimization algorithm in MATLAB is applied to calibrate considered models using the published experimental data, and the weighted objective function is formulated for three different mass ratios. Comparison with several sources of published experimental data for cross-flow oscillations confirms the model accuracy in the mass ratio range. The study indicates the advantageous performance of the models tuned with the medium mass ratio data and highlights some advantages of the Krenk–Nielsen wake oscillator.

Uniaxial test is easy to access and to obtain accuracy data, but it is difficult to acquire two-dimensional deformation information. We investigated the relationship between the two strain components of corneal strip in uniaxial tests, which is the basis for determining of anisotropic strain energy function of cornea via uniaxial tests. Nine rabbits were taken. The left and right corneas were cut along superior-inferior (SI) and nasal-temporal (NT) direction, respectively. For each strip the uniaxial test was carried out, and the tensile displacements, strip images and loads were recorded. Then the stretching strain, the transversal strains and stress were obtained. Optimization based inverse analysis was utilized to find the best among six fitting models that characterizes the relationship between two strain components in uniaxial tests. All models fitted well the experimental data gathered for corneal strips ([Formula: see text]). According to the model selection index, the power model achieved the best performance index: 0.1268 for SI strips and 0.1063 for NT strips versus 0.151 (SI strips) and 0.107 (NT strips) found at most by other models. Thus, it is the most suitable one for describing the relationship between the two strain components of corneal strip during uniaxial stretching.

Abstract This study is utilizing hydraulics experimental and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods to verify the flow phenomenon in the ballast water drainage process and discuss the drainage efficiency. In order to facilitate the analysis of the flow characteristics of ballast water in the ballast tank of a typical bulk carrier, the complex structure is simplified into two simple small-scale models, a single-longitudinal model and a single-transversal model. Both are designed with the scale of 1:10 for the data collection. The experimental results are then validated and verified by conducting a two-phase flow model applied volume of fluid (VOF) method. Based on that result, the use of the VOF method is suitable for the ballast water drainage simulation, so it can be used in large-scale model calculations to predict the drainage efficiency of ballast tanks. In addition, this study also conducts a comparative analysis of two configuration modes of the single-longitudinal model and the single-transversal model, which provides a reference for the design and improvement of complex structures.

Abstract In this work, the anisotropy of diffusion of carbon nanotubes in water was studied by the molecular dynamics method. Two models of nanotubes were used, their lengths varied from 4 to 31 nanometers. The first model is a nanotube with armchair chirality, the second is connected solid nanoscale rods. The behavior of various components of the velocity autocorrelation function of the nanotubes center of mass has been studied. It was established that the transverse component of this function has a negative region and a minimum point, in contrast to the average autocorrelation function, which decays monotonically. It is shown that the diffusion coefficients in the longitudinal and transverse directions can differ several times; the method proposed in this work was used to determine them. The effect of anisotropy increases with an increase in the ratio of the characteristic sizes of the nanotube. Using the Stokes - Einstein formula, the effective hydrodynamic radii of nanotubes have been determined. In all cases, the effective radius is significantly less than the tube length.

This work represents a comparative study of available analytical micromechanical models used to evaluate the elastic properties of unidirectional (UD) composite material with long fibers (where the ratio Length/Diameter of the fibers is considered to be infinite). The objective of this work is to find the appropriate model, to be used with different volume fractions of fibers, to determine the micromechanical elastic properties. This study is carried out due to the importance of using the suitable micromechanical model, when modeling bi-dimensional and tridimensional composite materials. The models are divided into two different categories: rheological, and inclusion models. The UD composite material represents a transversely isotropic material composed of two phases: the reinforcement phase and the matrix phase. Isotropic fibers (e.g. glass fibers) or anisotropic fibers (e.g. carbon fibers) represent the reinforcement phase while an isotropic material (e.g. epoxy) represents the matrix phase. In this study only longitudinal and transversal Young’s moduli are discussed. Analytical and Finite element modeling is made for a carbon fiber/epoxy UD composite. The obtained analytical results are compared to those obtained numerically and to the available experimental data. The analytical results are evaluated for different values of fiber volume fraction Vf ranging from 0 to 1.

In the present work, an analytical equation describing the plate torsion test taking into account the transverse shear stiffness in sandwich plates is derived and numerically validated. Transverse shear becomes an important component if the analyzed plate or shell is thick with respect to the in-plane dimensions and/or its core has significantly lower stiffness than the outer faces. The popular example of such a sandwich plate is a corrugated cardboard, widely used in the packaging industry. The flat layers of a corrugated board are usually made of thicker (stronger) material than that used for the corrugated layer, the role of which is rather to keep the outer layers at a certain distance, to ensure high bending stiffness of the plate. However, the soft core of such a plate usually has a low transverse shear stiffness, which is often not considered in the plate analysis. Such simplification may lead to significant calculation errors. The paper presents the generalization of the Reissner’s analytical formula, which describes the torsional stiffness of the plate sample including two transverse shear stiffnesses. The paper also presents the implementation of the numerical model of the plate torsion test including the transverse shear stiffnesses. Both approaches are compared with each other on a wide range of material parameters and different aspect ratios of the specimen. It has been proved that both analytical and numerical formulations lead to an identical result. Finally, the performance of presented formulations is compared with other numerical models using commercial implementation of various Reissner–Mindlin shell elements and other analytical formulas from the literature. The comparison shows good agreement of presented theory and numerical implementation with other existing approaches.

AbstractThe high resolution observations (TRACE and SOHO) of waves in coronal structures have revealed a rapid damping of modes, sometimes their damping length being of the same order as their wavelength. The rapid damping of modes in coronal loops permits us to derive values for magnetic field and transport coefficients. In this contribution we study the damping of linear compressional waves considering a two-dimensional propagation in gravitationally stratified plasma in the presence of thermal conduction. By considering this 2D model, we show that the presence of an additional transversal motion has an important effect on the damping of the waves. This theoretical model allows as to conclude that the main effects influencing the damping of the waves are the degree of the transversal structuring and temperature.

Given a manifold $M$ with a submanifold $N$, the deformation space ${\mathcal{D}}(M,N)$ is a manifold with a submersion to $\mathbb{R}$ whose zero fiber is the normal bundle $\unicode[STIX]{x1D708}(M,N)$, and all other fibers are equal to $M$. This article uses deformation spaces to study the local behavior of various geometric structures associated with singular foliations, with $N$ a submanifold transverse to the foliation. New examples include $L_{\infty }$-algebroids, Courant algebroids, and Lie bialgebroids. In each case, we obtain a normal form theorem around $N$, in terms of a model structure over $\unicode[STIX]{x1D708}(M,N)$.

The Himalayan foreland in N Pakistan, dissected by Main Frontal Thrust (MFT) and Main Boundary Thrust (MBT) contains spectacular salients and syntaxes. The lateral (N-S) boundaries between these salients and syntaxes around Kalabagh city and east-southeast of Islamabad were believed to host deep-seated lateral ramps with strike slip movements. However, seismic data in these two sectors suggest that there are N-S trending folds and locally east- or west-vergent thrusts that affect the Paleozoic-Paleogene cover of the Indian shield, as well as the Miocene-Pliocene molasse sediments. The proposed lateral ramps cannot be followed on the seismic and on maps either; instead, both maps and seismic data suggest folding, often on a regional scale of harder Paleo-Mesozoic-Paleogene and softer Oligo-Miocene-Pilo-Pleistocene cover. The NE corner of Surghar range is proposed to be formed of relaying thrust sheets with emergent heads composed of Paleozoic-Paleogene and its slightly detached Miocene molasse. These relaying imbricates are taken in a southward flexure generated by a major right lateral shear of a wide zone, where transpressive Riedel shears, en echelon anticlines and southwards flexed earlier thrust faults are the main elements (but a single, through-going Kalabagh fault is missing). The generation of mapped N-S trending folds and east-vergent thrusts preceded the formation of the wide shear zone and southwards flexing.Hazara syntaxis is interpreted as a major antiform that re-folded MBT and Panjal thrust around Oligo-Miocene molasse, itself forming an antiform (BOSSART ET AL. 1988). In our model we propose that the west-vergent Balakot thrust and deeper blind thrusts are in the core of this antiform. In the southern continuation we propose that folds in Miocene molasse continue from eastern Potwar region to western Kashmir and there appears no major break. These structures are also re-folded in a major antiform with N-S axial trend. Map analysis also suggests that N-S trending folds bending earlier main thrusts are occurring in a wide area south of the Indus-Tsangpo suture.Several independent geological and geophysical observations including mapping, seismic analysis, earlier measurements of strain axes and of paleomagnetic declinations suggest that the salients and syntaxes may have been much more linear in the past (although a total linearity is not realistic). It is proposed that the present-day undulating pattern may have been generated by N-S trending folds due to general (and episodic) E-W shortening. If the main fault zones were more linear, the relay pattern along their segments suggests a left lateral shear component along MBT and a mixed, locally left, locally right lateral component along MFT. Earlier (ZEITLER 1985) and now provided low temperature thermochronological ages strongly suggest a rather general episode of E-W shortening between 4-5 Ma for the whole northern Indian margin. However, there should have been original transversal dome formation as early as Oligocene (DIPIETRO ET AL. 2008). It is also clear that longer N-S shortening and shorter E-W shortening episodes should alternate eventually in a very short time frame, since earthquake focal mechanisms (LISA AND KHWAJA 2004, BURG ET AL. 2005) suggest the coexistence of E-W compression and NW-SE compression in Potwar.There are several potential explanations for generating E-W shortening and related structures in a general N-S shortening regime. Possibilities range from fault terminations of thrust faults at high angles in a particular zone (TREOLAR ET AL. 1992) to en echelon folding along a major right lateral E-W fault zone. However, we speculate that E-W shortening could be much more general, suggesting a mechanism that affects the whole of Indian plate. Possibly the best explanation is given by analogue models (REPLUMAZ ET AL. 2012) proposing major, slightly convergent confining boundaries. If applied to the northwards advance of India, the northwards converging boundaries generate secondary E-W shortening and east-or west-vergent orogens parallel to these boundaries.

Abstract Progressive urban development of the human environment requires new methods of rain water treatment. Recently, there has been a growing interest in the improvement of gravitational suspension separation, and especially in the application of the centrifugal force. This important factor can be induced in two ways; by the circulation of the reservoir containing the fluid (centrifugal separators), or by a tangent supply of this reservoir (circulative separators). In addition to the centrifugal force, another essential transversal force is at work in this case, resulting from the local variability of the pressure. In the literature, this force is derived for centrifuge conditions, but applied also to circulative separators, which is questionable, as in the latter devices velocity and pressure fields are clearly different. The paper is devoted to the determination of the transversal pressure effect in circulative separators. First, a model of tangent and radial velocity profiles is introduced. The radial pressure distribution, calculated on this basis and verified experimentally, leads to the final result, that is, a technical formula describing the force in question

The field of cardiomyocyte mechanobiology is gaining significant attention, due to accumulating evidence concerning the significant role of cellular mechanical effects on the integrated function of the heart. To date, the protein titin has been demonstrated as a major contributor to the cardiomyocytes Young’s modulus (YM). The microtubular network represents another potential regulator of cardiac mechanics. However, the contribution of microtubules (MTs) to the membrane YM is still understudied and has not been interrogated in the context of myocardial infarction (MI) or mechanical loading and unloading. Using nanoscale mechanoscanning ion conductance microscopy, we demonstrate that MTs contribute to cardiomyocyte transverse YM in healthy and pathological states with different mechanical loading. Specifically, we show that posttranslational modifications of MTs have differing effects on cardiomyocyte YM: Acetylation provides flexibility, whereas detyrosination imparts rigidity. Further studies demonstrate that there is no correlation between the total protein amount of acetylated and detyrosinated MT. Yet, in the polymerized-only populations, an increased level of acetylation results in a decline of detyrosinated MTs in an MI model.

The axial dispersion model (ADM) and tank-in-series model (TiSM) are conventionally used for determining mixing performance of a reactor, which is generated by transverse jets in many engineering applications. The effect of transverse jets on the mixing performance is not well determined by the ADM and TiSM when the Reynolds number of the mainstream flow is higher than ∼104. In this study, this problem was solved by a dispersive compartmental model (DCM). The DCM was a modification of the conventional compartmental model by adding a dispersive nature of plug flow compartment. The results of a series of tracer studies showed that the experimental data were better matched by the DCM than by the conventional models. The effect of transverse jets on the mixing characteristics was significant when the experimental data were modelled by the DCM. The DCM could be used for practical reactors where the E-curve shows a single peak.

This paper deals with the deduction of new homogenized models for the flexural wave in bi-periodic beams. According to the homogenization theory, the long-wave assumption is used and the valid frequency range of homogenized models is limited to the first Bragg band gap. However, the classical homogenization method, whose idea is taking the component’s mean values as effective material properties, has limitations in mimicking the dispersive behavior and the real valid frequency range is far less than the limit. Thus, enriched homogenized models, derived by the multi-scale asymptotic homogenization method, are proposed to provide more accurate homogenization models with larger real valid frequency range. The new homogenized models are validated by investigating the dispersion relation in the infinite case and the frequency response function in the finite case. Wave finite element method (WFEM) are used to provide associated references. A parametric study is carried out in the infinite case while two different boundary conditions are considered in the finite case.

ABSTRACTThe main aims of this research are, at first, combustion instability study based on equivalence ratio oscillation, and, secondly, investigation various frequency modes of combustion instability, taking combustion chamber geometry into account. Considering the configuration of the simulated combustion chamber, excitation probability of the longitudinal modes is higher than that of transversal modes. The reason of this fact is that the resonance frequency values of the longitudinal modes are less than those of transversal modes. So, the most important frequency mode, during combustion instability, is the first longitudinal mode. In this paper thermo-acoustic instability model is utilized for pre-mixed gas turbines combustion chamber, founded on equivalence ratio oscillation. For this purpose Lieuwen method is developed in order to attain the phase difference between pressure and heat release oscillations. Results concluded from combustion instability simulation for the first longitudinal mode, considering its importance, are compared with experimental data and good agreement is observed.

As the geographical meridians converge rapidly, traditional inertial navigation methods fail in the polar regions. Classic transversal navigation methods can address the problem by transversal rotation of the original north and south poles, but this can introduce errors based on the spherical Earth model. To reduce the principle errors, some fruitful research work using an ellipsoidal Earth model has been done. Under the ellipsoid Earth model, transversal navigation for polar region becomes a complex coupling problem. Considering the coupling of the three-dimensional motion, a more rigorous mechanism for transversal navigation using an ellipsoidal Earth model is proposed. Starting from the relationship between Euclidean coordinates and spherical coordinates, the main equations of transversal polar navigation based on an ellipsoidal Earth model are derived in detail. Complete mechanical arrangements of attitude, position and velocity calculation are presented. The new derivation in this paper completely avoids solving the ellipsoidal radius. Numerical results indicate that the proposed transversal navigation mechanism can outperform the traditional method, especially in the condition of vertical motion.

This theoretical study investigates spinning and standing modes in azimuthally symmetric annular combustion chambers. Both modes are observed in experiments and simulations, and an existing model predicts that spinning modes are the only stable state of the system. We extend this model to take into account the effect that the acoustic azimuthal velocity, u , has on the flames, and propose a phenomenological model based on experiments performed on transversely forced flames. This model contains a parameter, δ , that quantifies the influence that the transversal excitation has on the fluctuating heat release. For small values of δ , spinning modes are the only stable state of the system. In an intermediate range of δ , both spinning and standing modes are stable states. For large values of δ , standing modes are the only stable state. This study shows that a flame’s response to azimuthal velocity fluctuations plays an important role in determining the type of thermoacoustic oscillations found in annular combustors.

The BREST-OD-300 steam generator project being developed at NIKIET is pioneering both in terms of the heat carrier used (lead) and in design implementation (coils of helical heat transfer tubes). The advantages of the designs of steam generators made in the form of helical coiled tubes, in comparison with straight tube designs are obvious. Helical coiled tubes are used in heat exchange equipment not only to increase the heat transfer surface, to solve the problem of thermal expansion, but also to increase the coefficient of heat transfer to the fluid flowing inside the tubes. In 2011-2017 years the thermohydraulic tests of various models of lead-heated steam generator were carried out at the IPPE SPRUT facility (IPPE). The test program was aimed to study the heat transfer and the thermal-hydraulic stability of the steam generating tubes. Throughout the entire range of changes in operating parameters, no pulsating modes were detected with overturn of circulation in the water circuit. The design temperatures of superheated steam were obtained in nominal operation. The results provide extensive information on water heat transfer in different zones of the steam generating channel under various operating conditions (nominal and partial modes, starting modes). However, to verify the computer codes, experimental data on the heat transfer of lead coolant around the bundles of heat transfer tubes are necessary. Due to the small twist angle of the tubes in a full-scale steam generator, it can be said that heat transfer is close to heat transfer during transverse flow. A model with a transverse flow of lead coolant around steam-generating tubes was developed at the SSC RF - IPPE. The main goal of the research was to obtain data on the effect of oxygen concentration in lead on heat transfer in normal heat transfer modes and with lead freezing. Throughout the entire range of changes in the initial temperature values of lead and water, blocking of the annular space by frozen lead was not recorded.

In Riemann geometry, the relations of two transversal submanifolds and global manifold are discussed without any concrete models. By replacing the normal vector of a submanifold with the tangent vector of another submanifold, the metric tensors, Christoffel symbols and curvature tensors of the three manifolds are connected at the intersection points of the two submanifolds. When the inner product of the two tangent vectors of submanifolds vanishes, some corollaries of these relations give the most important second fundamental form and Gauss–Codazzi equation in the conventional submanifold theory. As a special case, the global manifold which is Euclidean is considered. It is pointed out that, in order to obtain the nonzero energy–momentum tensor of matter field in a submanifold, there must be the contributions of the above inner product and the other submanifold. Generally speaking, a submanifold is closely related to the matter fields of the other submanifold and the two submanifolds affect each other through the above inner product.
