Purpose The purpose of this paper is to model the key influencers or predictors for usage of technology by sales professionals in India. Design/methodology/approach This study examines the effect of individual, organizational and social factors on the use of technology. The method used for primary research is survey, and data have been collected from 556 sales professionals from across four industries in India. The empirical analysis consists of confirmatory factor analysis using structural equation modeling. Findings Confirmatory factor analysis has been used to validate the constructs, namely, peer usage, support service, perceived usefulness, attitude, usage and performance. Based on the results, it has been concluded that attitude and peer usage have a direct effect on the use of technology. Support service affects peer usage and perceived usefulness affects attitude. This model helps us understand the direct and indirect predictors of use of sales technology (ST), and its effect on sales performance. Research limitations/implications The limitation of this study is that data pertain to India only. Practical implications The findings of this paper will help sales managers and organizations develop strategies to increase the acceptance and use of new technologies, and also strengthen their arguments for convincing the various stakeholders about the benefits and relevance of the ST. Originality/value The paper attempts to build and validate a parsimonious model taking into account peer usage (social factor) and support service (organizational factor) in addition to perceived usefulness and attitude.

The study aims were, first, to examine the associations between the type and intensity of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and peer and parent relationships. Second, the study explored gender- and age-specific ICT usage and their associations with peer and parent relationships. The participants were 478 Finnish 10- and 13-year-old girls and boys. They reported the frequencies of digital game playing, using a computer for information seeking, communication, and Internet surfing, and evaluated the qualities of peer relationships (popularity, loneliness, and friendship) and communication with mother and father (open and conflicting). As hypothesized, intensive usage of ICT for entertainment (digital playing and Internet surfing) was associated with poor relations with both peers and parents, while intensive usage of ICT for communication (email and chat rooms) was associated with good peer relations, and poor parent relations. The associations were, however, gender-specific. Among girls intensive digital game playing was associated with poor mother—daughter and among boys with poor father—son communication. ICT is discussed as provider of new tools for playing, exploring, and communicating in childhood and adolescence.

This study aims to identify and analyze the key factors influencing the intention to use fintech peer-to-peer (P2P) lending services in Bandung City, addressing a significant area of financial technology adoption in emerging markets. This research uses a quantitative accidental sampling method, namely a non-probability sampling technique to survey 428 residents of Bandung City who use P2P lending services. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression to evaluate the impact of various independent variables on usage intention. The analysis revealed that Personalization, Accessibility, and Enhanced Effectiveness have a positive and statistically significant influence on the intention to use P2P lending. Conversely, Loan Approval Speed demonstrated a negative and statistically significant effect. Social Factors, however, were found to have no significant impact on usage intention. These findings contribute to the literature on fintech adoption, highlighting the importance of service personalization and accessibility while identifying areas for improvement, such as streamlining loan approval processes. The insights provided can inform strategies for both service providers and policymakers in fostering responsible P2P lending adoption in Bandung City. This research underscores critical determinants of P2P lending usage intentions and provides actionable insights for enhancing the effectiveness and appeal of financial technology services in Bandung City.

With the many changes in mobile phone use, it is now common for users to connect to the Internet and share social and multimedia data, and peer-to-peer technology remains one of the most efficient solutions to content sharing. We analysed the lifecycle of content shared using the BitTorrent network, focusing on torrents retrieved by mobile phone clients using our MobTorrent application. MobTorrent, a complete Bit-Torrent client for feature phones, enables anonymous usage statistics to be collected. Based on statistics collected over the last three years, we analyze how mobile BitTorrent clients are being used. We discuss the success of individual sessions by additionally measuring peer connection download and success ratio statistics. This research can be considered as a pioneer work in the field of mobile content sharing solutions.

Abstract: Because of its accessibility and ease of use, cloud storage has become the most widely used type of storage on the market in recent years. However, the privacy and data security of cloud storage are at risk. The protection of data security and privacy is the main topic of this essay. We suggest a blockchain-based decentralised storage system. Since blockchain is a distributed peer-to-peer system, any processing node connected to the internet can join and build peers' networks, maximising resource usage. Blockchain protects data security. The user's file is encrypted and shared among a number of network peers in the proposed system utilising the IPFS (Interplanetary File System) protocol. Hashes are generated by IPFS. The path of the file is indicated by the hash value, which is kept on the blockchain. This project is focused on decentralised secure data storage, high data availability, and effective storage resource usage.

The objective of this paper is to determine the influence of smartphone usage among secondary school students. The sample size of the study was 150 students. The findings showed that smartphone usage increases compassionate teaching with significant student engagement through the enhancement of the learner's cognitive capacity, motivation to study in both formal and informal settings, autonomy and confidence, as well as the promotion of personalized learning in helping low-achieving students to reach their academic performance goals. The paper gives an insight on cryptography within digital money used in electronic commerce. The combination of digital currencies with cryptography is named as cryptocurrencies or cryptocoins. Though this technique came into existence years ago, it is bound to have a great future due to its flexibility and very less or nil transaction costs. The concept of cryptocurrency is not new in digital world and is already gaining subtle importance in electronic commerce market. This technology can bring down various risks that may have occurred in usage of physical currencies. The transaction of cryptocurrencies are protected with strong cryptographic hash functions that ensure the safe sending and receiving of assets within the transaction chain or blockchain in a Peer-to-Peer network. The paper discusses the merits and demerits of this technology with a wide range of applications that use cryptocurrency.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of antecedent factors on collaborative technologies usage among academic researchers in Malaysian research universities. Design/methodology/approach Data analysis was conducted on data collected from 156 academic researchers from five Malaysian research universities. This study employed an extensive quantitative approach of a structural equation modeling method to evaluate the research model and to test the hypotheses. Findings The main findings of this study are that personal innovativeness, task-technology fit, and perceived peer usage are significant predictors of individual usage of collaborative technologies; perceived managerial support and subjective norm were found not to be significant predictors to perceived usefulness and individual usage; and perceived usefulness is a significant mediator to individual usage in that it had fully mediated personal innovativeness whereas partially mediated peer usage. Practical implications The results provide practical insights into how the Malaysian higher education sector and other research organizations of not-for-profit structure could enhance their collaborative technologies usage. Originality/value This research is perhaps the first that concentrates on collaborative technologies usage in Malaysian research universities.

The advancement of information and communication technology, with the advent of social media, has attracted users across all age groups. However, adolescents were among the first to adapt to and experience the digital world for educational and recreational purposes. This research investigated adolescents’ social media experiences, including peer influence in their usage and the perceived threat. In light of the uses and gratifications theory, the study employed survey methodology via a questionnaire to investigate. Adolescents between the ages of 15 and 19 participated through stratified random sampling based on electoral constituency. With a 99% confidence level and a 5% margin of error, a total of 665 respondents were examined, and the response rate was 84%. Adolescents were extensively networked due to the satisfaction they gained from social media. Similarly, the role of peers was moderate, as the gratification outweighed other factors, including security threats.

With the growing need for HPC resource usage in Thailand, this study aims to foster the creation of an HPC resource sharing ecosystem based on available in-house computing infrastructure. The model of computing resource sharing based on blockchain technology is presented for bridging communication between multiple clusters of HPC systems. The use of blockchain technology allows states among HPC systems to be synchronized and extends capabilities in enforcing governing rules. A smart contract was deployed on the blockchain network to enable users to request computing resources. Upon a request being made, a matching scheme performs the automatic selection of a suitable cluster based on current cluster utilization data and distance from users. Since users and clusters are anonymized from each other, a trusted payment scheme and permission access control are presented to assure both parties. As the system leverages off-chined and on-chained data exchange to carry out the operation, the secure gateway is proposed to mitigate technical difficulty from the client’s perspective and ensure information is securely flowing to and from legitimate actors. The result of this work ensures HPC service providers can maximize the utilization of their resources and monetize idle computing time, while users can access demanded resources conveniently and pay at a reasonable price.

In recent years, advancements in rooftop solar panel technology have sparked a revolution in the electricity markets. This has given rise to a new concept of energy exchange—the ability for consumers and producers to trade localized energy. This concept has been made possible by the emergence of blockchain technology, which has gained significant traction in the energy markets. Its unique ability to facilitate peer-to-peer (P2P) energy transactions has made it a promising solution for the trilemma of scalability, security, and decentralization. However, while blockchain technology has shown great potential, it is still in its early stages of development and has yet to reach its full potential. To fully understand the potential of blockchain technology in P2P energy trading, it is important to explore the trilemma in depth. This study proposes a blockchain-based scalability solution with a focus on P2P energy trading. This strategy is supported by empirical modeling, utilizing data gathered from a trial case study. The results of this study demonstrate that the suggested technique outperforms base-layer models in terms of scalability while still maintaining the essential elements of security and decentralization. This proposed solution not only has the potential to revolutionize the energy markets but also has broader implications. By providing a more secure and decentralized platform for P2P energy trading, it has the potential to address issues of energy distribution inequality and promote the adoption of renewable energy. With blockchain technology, individuals and communities have the opportunity to take control of their energy usage and production, reducing their reliance on traditional centralized energy systems. This not only has the potential to lower energy costs for consumers but also contributes to the overall goal of reducing carbon emissions and mitigating the effects of climate change. The combination of rooftop solar panel technology and blockchain applications has the potential to create a significant shift toward decentralized and sustainable energy systems. This will not only benefit individuals and communities but also have a positive impact on the environment and the global energy market. However, for this transition to occur, it is crucial that governments and energy companies continue to support and invest in these advancements.

The advancement of mircogrids and the adoption of blockchain technology in the energy-trading sector can build a robust and sustainable energy infrastructure. The decentralization and transparency of blockchain technology have several advantages for data management, security, and trust. In particular, the uses of smart contracts can provide automated transaction in energy trading. Individual entities (household, industries, institutes, etc.) have shown increasing interest in producing power from potential renewable energy sources for their own usage and also in distributing this power to the energy market if possible. The key success in energy trading significantly depends on understanding one’s own energy demand and production capability. For example, the production from a solar panel is highly correlated with the weather condition, and an efficient machine learning model can characterize the relationship to estimate the production at any time. In this article, we propose an architecture for energy trading that uses smart contracts in conjunction with an efficient machine learning algorithm to determine participants’ appropriate energy productions and streamline the auction process. We conducted an analysis on various machine learning models to identify the best suited model to be used with the smart contract in energy trading.

This paper explains about the feasibility of Blockchain Technology in food organization. The technology of BCT helps the organizations to achieve integrity among peer-to-peer nodes, such as maintaining proof of work, reducing intermediaries, traceability, etc. It can be applied in the BCT at different levels of Supply Chain Management processes. This empirical study was conducted with the help of the primary data. The data was collected from food industry managers who have knowledge about the BCT in the process of supply chain management. The questionnaire was prepared based on the different supply chain activities like procurement, pre-processing, logistics, warehousing, inventory management, distribution, retailing, processing, and marketing activities. Based on the literature and data analysis, the BCT had the greatest advantages are cost reduction, traceability, time-saving, immutability, authentication and proof of work. The major weaknesses that are associated with present employees having a lack of knowledge, limited scalability, complexity in usage, and high initial cost.

This study aims to determine whether financial literacy, peer effects, and sources of information influence the behavior of students at Muhammadiyah 7 Makassar High School in using fintech. The research employs a quantitative approach to examine specific populations or samples with the goal of testing established hypotheses. The findings reveal that financial literacy does not have a significant impact on fintech usage behavior. Conversely, peer effects and sources of information have a significant impact on fintech usage behavior. The urgency of this research lies in the importance of understanding the factors that influence the adoption of financial technology among students, who are the future generation and potential users of fintech. By identifying key factors that affect their behavior, schools and policymakers can design more effective educational programs and interventions to enhance understanding and responsible use of fintech. Overall, financial literacy, peer effects, and sources of information collectively account for 71.9% of the influence on fintech usage behavior, while the remaining 29.1% is affected by other variables not discussed in this study.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the use peer-to-peer lending platforms in Indonesia by integrating Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Theory of Trust, and Social Cognitive Theory (SCT).
Theoretical framework: The theory of this study is Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Theory of Trust, and Social Cognitive Theory (SCT).
Design/methodology/approach: The paper opted for an exploratory study using survey approach. 211 respondents were selected using snowball sampling to people who know about P2P Lending and have or were using the services provided by the platforms. Data analysis used Structural Equation Model-PLS by Smart-PLS 3.0 software
Findings: The results show that self-efficacy is dominant in directly shaping individual’s behavioral intention for using P2P Lending and indirectly creating perceived ease of use. In theoretical perspective, the findings provide empirical evidences that the behavior of individuals in using information technology is determined by several factors included in the integrated model, by which literatures in system usage behavior are enriched.
Research, Practical & Social implications: The study also contributes to practices by providing considerations for the government in their effort of making policies related to online loans and for service providers in updating their technology.
Originality/value: This study identifies factors influencing the behavioral intention of lenders and borrowers to use P2P Lending through integration of three models: Technology Acceptance Model, Theory of Trust, and Social Cognitive Theory.

— Blockchain technology is generating a lot of buzz around the world. If the results of staff and analyst surveys become more extensive, different industries and use cases found can benefit from the adoption of Blockchain. However, the emphasis has been on money rather than on the fundamentals of blockchain technology, such as peer-to-peer networks, encryption, and consensus methods. Despite early reservations about the technology, governments and large companies have recently attempted to implement and expand it in a range of applications, ranging from the banking, social, and legal sectors to architecture, manufacturing, and procurement networks. Given the size, diversity, and sophistication of the mechanisms involved in delivering a wide range of public services, India's governance poses particular challenges. Blockchain technology has the ability to completely transform government, industry, and citizen relationships in ways that were unimaginable just a decade ago. Our paper aims to illustrate the particular problems that have been encountered since their execution, as well as usage cases that the government and companies should investigate.

In present-day land recording and land registration systems of India can be professed as mistrustful, inefficient and outdated despite that India has completed 94.53% digitization of its land records. Due to loose coupling among different land related government departments and centralized data storage system, various types of forgery and lots of legal disputes are still there in the present system. For this reason real landowners are still suffering from numerous land related litigations and which creates confusion about the existing system's reliability and effectiveness. This causes judicial huge waste of time. The government needs to protect dwellers rights of records rendering a smart transparent web-application enabled e-Governance, supported by a competent substratum technology. Adoption of the Blockchain, the underlying technology of cryptocurrency, could be a most exclusive and assured way out to solve these issues related to land recording and land registration systems. Established systems could achieve a peer-to-peer, collaborative, trustworthy, secure, transparent, reliable, scalable and real-time based system. Blockchain technology assures users of inviolability and has no way to anticipate breach of contracts. The objective of the present study is to focus on how significant impacts we can observe through the implementation of a Blockchain based land registration and land recording system.

Background Although the effects of digital health are receiving wide scientific attention, very little is known about the characteristics of digitally engaged people experiencing homelessness, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. Our previous research revealed a considerable level of internet use in the homeless population of Budapest, Hungary, for general purposes (350/662, 52.9%) and medical purposes (229/664, 34.6%). Moreover, a digitally engaged subgroup was identified (129/662, 19.5%). Objective The aim of this exploratory study was to map out the resources, attitudes, and behaviors of digitally engaged homeless individuals in relation to digital technology to set the basis for potential health policy interventions, which will enable better access to health services through strengthening of the digital components of the existing health care system. Methods Between August 18, 2022, and October 27, 2022, a total of 12 in-depth semistructured interviews were conducted in 4 homeless shelters in Budapest, Hungary. Upon analysis by 3 independent evaluators, 2 interviews were excluded. The interviewees were chosen based on purposive sampling with predefined inclusion criteria. Thematic analysis of the transcripts was conducted. Results In the thematic analysis, 4 main themes (attitude, access, usage patterns, and solutions for usage problems) emerged. Health-related technology use mostly appeared in health information–seeking behavior. Online search for prescribed medications (5 interviews), active ingredients of medications (4 interviews), medicinal herbs believed to replace certain pills (2 interviews) or foods, and natural materials (1 interview) were mentioned. Moreover, mobile health app use (3 interviews) was reported. The intention to circumvent or check on mainstream health care solutions was mainly associated with previous negative experiences in the health care system. Several gaps in the daily use of technology were identified by the interviewees; however, more than half of the interviewees (6/10) turned out to be contact points for their peers for digital problem-solving or basic digital literacy skill enhancement in the homeless shelters. Furthermore, a lack of institutional support or special programs targeting senior clients was noted. Conclusions Digitally engaged homeless individuals might become mediators between their peers and comprehensive digital health programs. They have the trust of their peers, can recognize and harness the benefits of digital technology, and are able to provide meaningful help in technology- and usage-related issues through experience. Digital health services have great promise in community shelters for managing and preventing health issues, and digitally engaged individuals might be important for the success of such services.

In the era of rapid technological advancement, the conventional use of smartphones has undergone a transformative paradigm shift. The presence of Apple's iPhone has become a significant entity surpassing mere communication functions. This research explores the dynamics linking social comparison, peer pressure, consumer innovativeness, and user satisfaction in the context of iPhone usage. Engaging 319 iPhone users in Indonesia through a comprehensive online survey, data was collected, and 150 respondents met the specified criteria. The study employs Partial Least Squares analysis using the SmartPLS4 software. Empirical findings reveal a positive correlation between social comparison and peer pressure, exerting a substantial influence on consumer innovativeness. Interestingly, social comparison also has a positive impact on consumer happiness. However, the research finds that while peer pressure significantly contributes to consumer innovativeness, it does not affect consumer happiness. This investigation underscores the crucial role of social comparison and peer pressure in shaping consumer innovativeness and happiness. The study elucidates the complex interaction between psychological and social factors. By understanding the desire to differentiate oneself and seek social acceptance, this research enhances our understanding of consumer decision-making in iPhone usage, facilitating diverse perspectives on technology as a crucial element in social identity construction.

The idea of sharing economy gives rise to unique ideas and develops innovative businesses. This article aims to relate the smart city concept by introducing the smart transport system and explores the opportunities of adopting blockchain technology in ride-sharing services. Blockchain technology is a distributed, decentralized public ledger that allows peer-to-peer transactions in a secured way without any third party. This paper proposes a blockchain-based framework from the existing centralized framework for a ride-sharing service and implements the same as a decentralized application (DApp) based on smart contracts on Ethereum Blockchain. Using smart contracts facilitate the users with automated transactions, removes the intermediaries, and enables various activities to be carried out safely and securely. Implementation of smart contracts is done using the Solidity programming language. This DApp uses the min matching algorithm to match riders requesting rideshare to save total travel distance. With the overwhelming growth in the usage of cryptocurrencies, smart contracts usage in applications as proposed in this paper can transform the sharing economy.

The increase of the Internet of Things (IoT) calls for secure solutions for industrial applications. The security of IoT can be potentially improved by blockchain. However, blockchain technology suffers scalability issues which hinders integration with IoT. Solutions to blockchain’s scalability issues, such as minimizing the computational complexity of consensus algorithms or blockchain storage requirements, have received attention. However, to realize the full potential of blockchain in IoT, the inefficiencies of its inter-peer communication must also be addressed. For example, blockchain uses a flooding technique to share blocks, resulting in duplicates and inefficient bandwidth usage. Moreover, blockchain peers use a random neighbor selection (RNS) technique to decide on other peers with whom to exchange blockchain data. As a result, the peer-to-peer (P2P) topology formation limits the effective achievable throughput. This paper provides a survey on the state-of-the-art network structures and communication mechanisms used in blockchain and establishes the need for network-based optimization. Additionally, it discusses the blockchain architecture and its layers categorizes existing literature into the layers and provides a survey on the state-of-the-art optimization frameworks, analyzing their effectiveness and ability to scale. Finally, this paper presents recommendations for future work.

The purpose of this article was to provide a comprehensive overview of the available peer-reviewed and gray literature on assistive technology (AT) access and usage barriers among African Americans with disabilities. Authors completed a historical review (Onwuegbuzie & Frels, 2016) of the extant literature on AT and disability public policy mandates by framing the context on AT access and usage disparities among African Americans with disabilities and discussing AT impacts on employment for African Americans. The authors also presented recommendations that might be considered by the field for increasing AT access and usage among African Americans with disabilities. It is clear that AT and associated assistive products are important commodities to the lives of individuals with disabilities in the United States; however, there are historical inequities between African Americans and Whites. As a result of these findings, the authors implore rehabilitation counselors in education and practice to further examine ways to alleviate the AT access and usage gaps for African Americans with disabilities within public policy, vocational rehabilitation service delivery, and institutional infrastructure systems.

The consumptive behavior of students tends to be excessive. Therefore, this study aims to test the impact of financial literacy, peer group, social media usage, and locus of control on students’ consumption behavior. The population consists of 41,061 active S-1 students of Universitas Negeri Semarang, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia. 5% of 398 samples had an error rate using the Slovin formula. Primary data were collected through surveys employing a 5-point Likert scale. The questionnaire constructed in Google Forms was distributed using WhatsApp group. The data collected were then subjected to validity and reliability tests. Thus, the response variable was consumptive behavior; three predictor variables were financial literacy, peer group, and social media usage; and the mediating variable was locus of control. The results show that financial literacy affects consumptive behavior negatively, with a coefficient of –0.109 and a significance value of 0.041. Peer groups, social media usage, and locus of control had a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior directly. The coefficients were 0.039, 0.518, and 0.218, with significance values of 0.031, 0.000, and 0.000. Financial literacy and peer groups have a positive and significant effect on the locus of control with coefficients of 0.0638 and 0.251 and significance values of 0.000. In addition, locus of control has been proven as a mediator in the influence of financial literacy and peer groups on consumptive behavior. This article focuses on nonmonetary peer-to-peer (P2P) accommodation networks, examining the way in which personality traits, emotional solidarity factors, and technology-related perceptions affect the inclination to participate in these networks. To test the theoretical framework, a structural equation model is validated, based on a representative online survey of German consumers (N=600). The findings confirm the explanatory power of the model components considered that directly or indirectly impact individual usage intention. A group analysis distinguishes between the guest and host perspective, providing further insights into the antecedents of the inclination toward P2P accommodation networks. Based on the study results, the present article develops managerial implications and suggests avenues for future research.

In the access to peer-to-peer sharing of goods and services through a technology platform, which is known as the sharing economy, there is no consensus on the factors that motivate consumers. This study aimed to investigate the moderating effect of perceived risk on consumers’ participation in the sharing economy in a developing country. Following a quantitative approach, a survey was conducted among 400 consumers in the Metropolitan Zone of Puebla City, Mexico. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. Economic benefits, enjoyment, and trust drove the usage behavior of consumers in the sharing economy. In addition, perceived risk significantly moderated the relationships that usage behavior has with the economic benefits and the feeling of the community. As predicted by social exchange theory, the consumers made choices based on a subjective cost–benefit analysis, showing flexibility in the type and amount of rewards. This study contributes to knowledge about customer behavior in the context of the sharing economy.

The Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) provides an infrastructure for developing decentralized applications with no central authority for registering, sharing, and synchronizing transactions on digital assets. In the last years, it has drawn high interest from the academic community, technology developers, and startups mostly by the advent of its most popular type, blockchain technology. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview of DLT analyzing the challenges, provided solutions or alternatives, and their usage for developing decentralized applications. We define a three-tier based architecture for DLT applications to systematically classify the technology solutions described in over 100 papers and startup initiatives. Protocol and Network Tier contains solutions for digital assets registration, transactions, data structure, and privacy and business rules implementation and the creation of peer-to-peer networks, ledger replication, and consensus-based state validation. Scalability and Interoperability Tier solutions address the scalability and interoperability issues with a focus on blockchain technology, where they manifest most often, slowing down its large-scale adoption. The paper closes with a discussion on challenges and opportunities for developing decentralized applications by providing a multi-step guideline for decentralizing the design and implementation of traditional systems.

There-fore, the use of mobile technologies in education has become a crucial topic for research. Because mobile phone is the first choice of everyone to communicate, our research is focused on the use of smartphones as learning resources. In this paper, we propose an implementation of a new mobile application based peer-to-peer learning system named "EachOther" and a scenario for its usage applied on students of an IT course at the High School of Technology of Fez (ESTF). This paper evaluates the technical feasibility of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) within the healthcare ecosystem, with a focus on the use of Corda DLT to enhance governance and performance in a decentralized ecosystem, ensuring data integrity, security, and trustworthiness. Key attributes examined include the guarantee of data integrity, ensuring that transmitted data remain unaltered; authenticity through the implementation of digital signatures and certificates; confidentiality achieved via secure peer-to-peer communication accessible only to authorized parties; and traceability and auditing mechanisms that enable tracking of information changes and accountability. To validate these features, a Corda Distributed Application (CorDapp) was developed to manage the core logic of the healthcare ecosystem. The CorDapp was deployed across nodes and executed within the Corda network. Its performance was assessed using metrics such as throughput, latency, CPU usage, and memory consumption in both local and cloud network environments. Results demonstrate the feasibility of using Corda DLT technology in healthcare, effectively addressing critical requirements such as integrity, authenticity, confidentiality, traceability, and auditing while maintaining satisfactory performance across diverse deployment scenarios.

Effective Information Technology usage refers to the intelligent utilization of all mediums of IT to gain maximum benefits. In order to survive in the current technological era, the teaching faculty is needed to use the information technology tools effectively to play progressive role in the educational institutions. The major objective of this study is to explore the influence of social, individual, and organizational factors on the university teachers to use the information technology effectively. In the current study, the population was included of all the teaching faculty which was the part of the Public universities of Punjab. A sample of 300 teachers was selected from 3 general public universities through multistage sampling technique. A Quantitative Survey research design was adopted and a survey instrument (7-point Likert scale) based on Davis’ TAM and M. Talukder. The inferential and descriptive statistics were applied for the data analysis. It was revealed in the results that the effective usage of IT was influenced by all the five sub variables of individual cognitive interpretational factors including prior experience, perceived usefulness, image, personal innovativeness. In organizational factor, the sub variable ‘incentives’ was found to have significant effect on the effective usage of IT. Similarly, under social factor, the peer pressure influence was found significantly determining the effective IT usage. It is suggested that for increasing the effective use of information technology, at administration level, information technology expertise should be made an integral part of selection criteria for university faculty

This study aims to determine the effect of peer-to-peer lending (P2PL) on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) underpinned by the theory of planned behavior and asses its impact on the borrower’s intention to recommend such a platform. This paper used a quantitative survey method with partial least squares structural equation modeling to analyze the data collected through a questionnaire. The data were obtained from 395 respondents who are entrepreneurs or business leaders in SMEs in Indonesia and had experience in borrowing business loan funds from the P2PL apps. The structural questionnaire was distributed from January to May 2022. The results of this study indicate that the three core components of the theory of planned behavior (attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control) can significantly influence the intention to continue usage and the intention to recommend with an R-squared value of 0.626, which indicates a meaningful explanatory power. The results proved that perceived benefits and risk and electronic word-of-mouth are the antecedents with significant influence. Moreover, this study provides new insights into how self-efficacy and mental accounting can influence perceived behavioral control. These findings could suggest that P2PL management should be more innovative in developing effective marketing strategies based on the traits and borrower’s points of view. Particularly, they could emphasize customer segmentation based on mental accounting.

This paper proposes a new peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading method between energy sellers and consumers in a community based on multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL). Each user of the community is treated as a smart agent who can choose the amount and the price of the electric energy to sell/buy. There are two aspects we need to examine: the profits for the individual user and the utility for the community. For a single user, we consider that they want to realise both a comfortable living environment to enhance happiness and satisfaction by adjusting usage loads and certain economic benefits by selling the surplus electric energy. Taking the whole community into account, we care about the balance between energy sellers and consumers so that the surplus electric energy can be locally absorbed and consumed within the community. To this end, MARL is applied to solve the problem, where the decision making of each user in the community not only focuses on their own interests but also takes into account the entire community’s welfare. The experimental results prove that our method is profitable both both the sellers and buyers in the community.

Document management system is an essential approach that should be managed well to ensure an effective and faster overall working process in an organization. Hardcopy documents has been one of the items that most organizations need to manage in a safe and secure manner due to the high dependency on most of their working procedure especially in government organizations. Hence, we proposed a new framework to improve the weaknesses of the existing document management procedures in government organizations. Our proposed framework integrates the implementation of an NFC system in this research due to its secure short - range communication, and the peer-to-peer communication capability in most mobile devices. Besides that, most existing government organizations within Malaysia could easily implement such technology for their internal usage as this technology is cost effective due to its availability on existing mobile devices on most Android based devices.

Qualitative research is a research method used to understand social phenomena in depth. This type of research is library research, which researchers carry out by collecting, studying, and analyzing references or sources. obtained in writing or written form, such as books, journals, articles, documents, and other sources of information that are significant to the topic or title being researched. The research results show that the impact of development technology on industry banking in Indonesia is positive, namely: Improvement Efficiency and Productivity: Adoption technology has brought significant enhancements to efficiency bank operations, with automation of processes and usage intelligence artificial to reduce costs and improve productivity. Enhancement Experience Customer: Innovation technology has allowed banks to increase customer experience through applications in digital banking, customer chatbot-based services, and self-service platforms. Enhancement Security and Management Risk: Although there are worries related to data security, development technology has the potential to repair significant system security and management risks. With the use of data encryption and analysis behavior, users can identify and respond to threats to security more quickly. Innovation Products and Services: Technology has pushed the development of new products and services in the banking industry, including robo-advisors, peer-to-peer lending platforms, and applications for mobile payments, which deliver a markup for customers and help banks expand their market share. Enhancement Efficiency and Transparency Management: System Management Integrated information and analytical dashboards have increased efficiency and transparency in bank management.

In the last four years, blockchain technology affected largely all aspects of our lives. Blockchain started to launch a new technological revolution of storing digital transactions over the Internet, verifying the authenticity, licensing and providing the highest degree of security and encryption. Blockchain usage started with digital currency then its implementation extended to many industries such as voting, health records, copywriters, real estates and so on. However, it is time to upgrade the election scenario from practicing paper-based elections to use modern technologies in order to facilitate our lives. The fact that the blockchain technology has demonstrated almost infinite immutability and high resistance against hacking, lends credit to employ it in securing election data from fraud by saving every single piece of data, record or transaction with unchangeable history. In this paper, we propose and test implement a robust online voting system based on blockchain in order to prevent election forgery and ease the voting process for citizens. The essence of our research lies in abandoning alterable traditional databases and replacing them with two private blockchains that use the peer-to-peer network. Along with the blockchains, we utilized blind signature to maintain vote/voter privacy in order to safeguard voter eligibility validation against manipulation and forgery. Lastly, we discuss a threat model, and suggest solutions overcome it; we also suggest a solution to identity impersonation and vote-selling problems.

The role of social media in today’s life is almost imperative. Social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram or Youtube are widely used all over the world. Above all, social media has become a global phenomenon, which has dramatically changed the concept of cross-cultural communication not only between individuals, but also brands and consumers. Varieties of social media platforms provide a new channel to acquire information through peer communication, thus influencing consumer purchase intention. Although diverse cultures have different cultural backgrounds, they affect the acceptance of social media usage. In order to broaden the understanding of this rapidly changing field, this paper provides a framework, based on Hofstede’s dimensions and Technology Acceptance model, for examining the intersection of cultural differences, social media usage and consumer behaviour to set the agenda for future research.

Purpose Despite the substantial research in the domain of electronic procurement adoption, usage and performance (EP AUP), there is no structured review of these studies and most of the literature is in fragmented form. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to investigate and synthesize EP AUP research in the past two decades and map key research approaches, prevailing theories and antecedents used by researchers to study EP AUP at the individual user and organizational level. Design/methodology/approach To evaluate and comprehend past and current patterns/themes in the EP AUP research area, a systematic literature review is undertaken. Significant peer-reviewed studies covering three categories – adoption, usage and performance and seven classification criteria are critically reviewed. Findings The findings reveal that most investigators mainly used “technology acceptance model,” “technology–organization–environment” framework and their extensions, demonstrating that “perceived ease of use,” “perceived usefulness,” “trust,” “organizational size,” “organizational readiness” and “behavioral intentions” are the most critical drivers of EP AUP. Research limitations/implications For researchers and practitioners, the review highlights a taxonomy of contextual factors to be considered for successful EP AUP. It further makes suggestions for future research meeting challenges of Industry-4.0. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first systematic literature review undertaken in the field of EP that studies it from three different perspectives. It further builds on the determinants of EP AUP and classifies them in four distinct categories: organizational, individual, information system level and environmental.

The COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of universities and colleges throughout the world, with the hope that public health officials’ suggestion of social distancing would help flatten the sickness curve and reduce overall mortality from the outbreak. However, the Learning Management System (LMS) is the perfect approach for fostering the dedication of students to content in education like sustainability. Previous studies have seldom investigated an integrated approach in the context of LMS in industrialized nations. In addition, this paper aims to include a literature analysis of recent research conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic in the area of LMS usage, as well as to investigate variables predicting the usage of LMS by higher education students during the COVID-19 pandemic for students’ engagement. On the basis of LMS usage data obtained from an online survey, structural equation modeling (SEM) and route analysis were utilized to verify the research model, a survey consisting of student LMS users King Saud University. The findings showed that the desire of students to use LMS had beneficial effects during the COVID-19 pandemic on learning as sustainability engagement. Also, student-perceived closeness, peer references and subjective well-being are favorably associated with the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, this, in turn, influences students’ intentions to utilize, which, in turn, effects the usage of LMS for student engagement during COVID-19.

Digital addiction (hereafter DA) denotes a problematic relationship with technology described by being compulsive, obsessive, impulsive and hasty. New research has identified cases where users’ digital behaviour shows symptoms meeting the clinical criteria of behavioural addiction. The online peer groups approach is one of the strategies to combat addictive behaviours. Unlike other behaviours, intervention and addictive usage can be on the same medium; the online space. This shared medium empowers influence techniques found in peer groups, such as self-monitoring, social surveillance, and personalised feedback, with a higher degree of interactivity, continuity and real-time communication. Social media platforms in general and online peer groups, in particular, have received little guidance as to how software design should take it into account. Careful theoretical understanding of the unique attributes and dynamics of such platforms and their intersection with gamification and persuasive techniques is needed as the ad-hoc design may cause unexpected harm. In this paper, we investigate how to facilitate the design process to ensure a systematic development of this technology. We conducted several qualitative studies including user studies and observational investigations. The primary contribution of this research is twofold: (i) a reference model for designing interactive online platforms to host peer groups and combat DA, (ii) a process model, COPE.er, inspired by the participatory design approach to building Customisable Online Persuasive Ecology by Engineering Rehabilitation strategies for different groups.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discuss whether preprint servers are a disruptive technology for science, librarians or information seeking among the general population. Design/methodology/approach This column explores what preprint servers are, how they are used in the world of science, how their usage changed in response to the deluge of COVID-19 related research papers and how they might impact the work of librarians and society in general. Findings Preprint servers are not a highly disruptive technology, but they do challenge both scientists and librarians to understand them better, use the information they find on them with care and educate society in general on topics such as peer review and the importance of using well-vetted, good quality science in making important decisions. Originality/value Up until the past year and a half, only a small segment of the librarian profession needed to be concerned with preprint servers. With the increasing presence of references to non-peer-reviewed articles from preprint servers in popular media reports, most librarians now need to know something about this technology. It is also useful to consider how the technology might benefit and create challenges for their work.

With the continuous development of encryption technology, big data, artificial intelligence, and financial technology, digital currencies have emerged, which are based on blockchain technology to achieve peer-to-peer transactions and have high security and convenience. Unlike electronic and virtual currency, digital currency is a nonintermediary payment mechanism based on distributed ledger technology. The rise of digital currency has profoundly impacted the traditional currency system. On the one hand, digital currencies have improved transaction efficiency and payment convenience, reduced transaction costs, and promoted innovation in financial models. On the other hand, digital currencies also bring new risks and challenges, such as information leakage, fund security issues, and impact on traditional financial institutions. In addition, digital currencies may exacerbate global development imbalances, leading to differences in the efficiency of digital currency usage between developed and developing countries. This article further explores the relationship between digital currency and traditional currency, predicts their coexistence or substitution trends in the future, and emphasizes the importance of managing digital currency. Formulating relevant laws and policies to protect consumer assets and personal information security helps to promote the healthy development of digital currency and promote the stability and prosperity of the economy and society.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the relationships of technical training and the peer effects of technical training with farmers' pesticide use behaviors.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses survey data from 300 peanut growers in Zoucheng County, Shandong, China, in 2016 and employs spatial econometric models to examine the relationships of technical training and the peer effects of technical training with farmers' pesticide use behaviors.FindingsThis paper reveals that important peer effects can be channeled through technical training and that these peer effects are sufficiently significant to encourage neighboring farmers to reduce the amount of pesticide use, to transform the structure of pesticide use, and to increase the usage amount of low-toxicity, low-residue pesticide use per hectare. The estimated parameters for the peer effects from technical training are significantly larger than those from technical training alone, which suggests that the technical training of neighboring farmers plays a greater role than technical training for farmers individually.Originality/valueThe research finds that technical training within smaller, localized, groups can induce previously unobservable spillover effects, and this provides a scientific, theoretical and empirical justification for agricultural technology extension that can lead to a rapid, effective transformation of applying new agricultural technologies in an environmentally sensitive and economically sustainable manner.

Digital finance has the potential to increase financial services accessibility and financial inclusion of the people in need. Digital Financial Services encompass a range of financial services that are accessible and utilized via digital platforms, including lending, payments, insurance, and eventually personal finance management. In addition to more contemporary financial solutions like digital lending platforms, crowdfunding platforms, peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, digital payments, e-commerce, mobile wallets, and app-based lending, digital financial services also include more traditional financial solutions like credit and debit cards, and point of sale (PoS) systems. The moderating role of digital consumer protection in impacting the association between the five variables usability of services, facilitating conditions of the consumers, usage experience, trust and technology self-efficacy of the customers and the consumers’ intention to use digital financial services has been investigated in this research. Data has been collected from 528 people of Gujarat, India, belonging to the middle- and higher-income groups through random sampling technique. A structured equation modelling approach has been adapted and the test of the model developed makes it clear that digital consumer protection moderates the relationship between technology self-efficacy of consumers and their intention to use digital financial services. Similarly, it also moderates the relationship between the usability of financial services and intention to use digital financial services. However, it does not moderate relationship between facilitating conditions, usage experience, trust and consumers’ intention to use digital financial services.
