Анотація:
This paper aims at investigating presupposition use in Arabic political discourse. The study attempts to answer the feasibility of using presupposition as a convincing tool in Arabic political discourse. The study adopts the Accommodation Analysis model, as examples from the speech of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on terrorism in 2017 are analyzed from two perspectives: Speaker presupposition perspective and Utterance presupposition perspective. The analysis found that using the Speaker presupposition perspective, presuppositions can pass unblocked, and when a plug exists, the local context creates a hole so that the presupposition can be accommodated successfully. The analysis stresses the value of context to accommodate presuppositions when they encounter projection problems. Presuppositions are more likely blocked when the Utterance presupposition perspective is adopted because different groups may have different interpretations. The findings of the study stress that sharing knowledge, i.e., political beliefs in the context of the study, is vital for a presupposition to pass unblocked.

Investigates the theme known as “Knowledge Management” (KM) in three large Brazilian organizations trying to discuss its concepts, constituent elements, managerial approaches and tools, while aiming at leaving behind the purely terminological discussion, which is innocuous and naive. The basic presuppositions were two: (i) most of what it´s referred to or named KM is actually “Information Management” (IM) and IM is just one of the components of KM. KM is more than simply IM due to the fact that it includes and incorporates other concerns, such as the creation, use and sharing of information and knowledge in the organizational context; (ii) a conceptual model or map can be formulated based on three basic conceptions: (a) a strategic conception of information and knowledge, (b) the introduction of such strategy in the tactical and operational levels through the several managerial approaches and informaion technology tools and (c) the creation of an organizational space for knowledge. The main objective is to investigate and analyze the conceptions, motivations, practices and results of KM effectively implemented in three large Brazilian organizations. The qualitative research strategy used was the study of multiple cases with incorporated units of analysis and three criteria ere observed for the judgment of the quality of the research project: validity of the construct, external validity and reliability. Multiple sources of evidence were used and data analysis consisted of three flows of activities: data reduction, data displays and conclusion drawing/verification. The results confirmed the presuppositions and the fact that KM means a rethinking of management practices in the information ea. It was also identified that the main challenges facing organizations committed to KM have its focus on change management, cultural and behavioral issues and the creation of an enabling context that favors the creation, use and sharing of information and knowledge.

ABSTRAKPembelajaran secara daring di masa pandemi Covid-19 seringkali membuat komunikasi antara orang tua dan anak menjadi masalah. Orang tua menganggap anaknya lebih banyak menghabiskan waktu menggunakan gadget untuk keperluan di luar belajar, seperti untuk bermain games, menonton tayangan di kanal Youtube, berinteraksi dengan teman melalui media sosial, dan berselancar mengakses berbagai informasi. Anak-anak berdalih bahwa gadget-nya digunakan untuk keperluan belajar. Ketegangan hubungan dan miskomunikasi antara orang tua dan anak pun sering terjadi karena adanya perbedaan persepsi tersebut. Orang tua berharap anak-anaknya mempunyai karakter yang baik. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu anggota Tim Penggerak-PKK desa Kemutug Lor, Banyumas dalam membangun karakter anak dengan presuposisi NLP. Dosen sebagai Fasilitator dibantu 2 orang mahasiswa memberikan materi pelatihan kepada TP-PKK yang berjumlah 25 orang. Materi pelatihan disampaikan secara interaktif. Fasilitator melibatkan peserta dalam sharing, diskusi, role play, dan perenungan untuk evaluasi dan perbaikan diri. Berdasarkan evaluasi pasca pelatihan, peserta menyatakan bahwa mereka merasakan manfaat praktis dari pelatihan ini. Mereka mempunyai bekal pengetahuan dan tips berkomunikasi dengan presuposisi NLP yang telah dipahami dan akan dipraktikkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dalam membangun karakter anak.Kata kunci: Komunikasi; Membangun Karakter; Pelatihan; NLP ABSTRACTOnline learning during the Covid-19 pandemic often makes communication between parents and children a problem. Parents consider their children to spend more time using gadgets not for learning purposes, such as playing games, watching various programs via YouTube channel, interacting with friends via social media, and browsing various information. The children argued that their gadgets were used for learning purposes. Relationship tensions and miscommunication between parents and children often occur because of these different perceptions. Parents hope their children have good character. This community service activity aims to help the members of the Kemutug Lor Village TP-PKK Team, Banyumas in building children's character with the NLP presupposition. Lecturer as a facilitator, assisted by 2 students, provided training materials to 25 members of TP-PKK. The training material is delivered interactively. The facilitator engaged participants in sharing, discussion, role play, and reflection for self-evaluation and improvement. Based on the post-training evaluation, participants stated that this training is very practical. They have the knowledge and tips to communicate using the NLP presuppositions that have been understood and will be implemented in building children's character. ABSTRACTThis study investigated the development of knowledge about the presuppositions of cognitive verbs that take sentential complements. The verbs included factives, which presuppose the truth of their complements, and nonfactives, which carry no such presupposition. Three tasks assessed children's ability to (a) assign truth values to complements according to the presuppositions of the main verbs; (b) select verbs to describe people's mental states; and (c) state the presuppositions of the verbs in definitions. The results indicated that the presuppositions of the factives know, forget, and remember and the nonfactive think are not learned until age 4. Believe, which has factive and nonfactive properties, is mastered after age 7. The children's performance differed across tasks due to variations in processing requirements.

Enbart en liten del av forskningen berör kunskapsdelning i syfte att möta kompetensförsörjningsutmaningar utifrån en förändrad demografi, till följd av en åldrande befolkning. Således har denna kvalitativa studie syftat till att bidra med kunskap om hur en organisation, genom kunskapsdelning, kan ta vara på äldre medarbetares kunskap. För att besvara studiens syfte genomfördes sju semistrukturerade intervjuer med anställda inom en statlig organisation. Studiens titel belyser utmaningar för äldre medarbetare att dela kunskap och förmågor som förvärvats genom tidigare erfarenheter. Med inslag från empirisk fenomenologi, ett abduktivt tillvägagångssätt, tematisk analys samt inspiration från Ipes (2003) förutsättningar för kunskapsdelning, synliggjordes ytterligare en förutsättning för äldre medarbetare att dela kunskap; kartläggning av erfarenheter. Genom att kartlägga tidigare erfarenheter kan äldre medarbetares kunskap synliggöras, vilket kan bidra till upplevelsen av att deras kunskap tas vara på inom organisation.
Only a small part of the research concerns knowledge sharing to meet skills supply challenges based on a changing demographic, because of an aging population. Thus, this qualitative study has aimed to contribute with knowledge about how an organization, through knowledge sharing, can seize older employees’ knowledge. To answer the purpose of this study, seven semi-structured interviews were conducted with employees within state owned organization. The title of this study highlights challenges for older employees to share knowledge and abilities acquired through previous experiences. With influence of empirical phenomenology, an abductive approach, thematic analysis and inspiration from Ipe’s (2003) presuppositions for knowledge sharing, another presupposition for older employees to share knowledge was made visible, mapping of experiences. By mapping experiences, older employees’ knowledge can be made visible, which can contribute to the experience that their knowledge is being seized within the organization.

In the framework of new stylistics as developed by Roger Fowler, this scientific work researches the impact of the background knowledge of the reader on the interpretation of the beginning of a literary text. The functioning of pragmatic presuppositions in poetry and non-poetic fiction (novels) is explored; 437 poems and 223 novels are analyzed, and the obtained data is compared with the statistical values of the development of pragmatic presuppositions in six genres of non-fictional texts, 300 texts in total. All the sample of the thesis represents works of the twentieth century English-writing authors. Development of pragmatic presuppositions is sought to be quantified by employing the strategy of the research of pragmatic values as developed by van Rooij and Potts. Four main ways of triggering pragmatic presuppositions are singled out in the thesis: non-standard use of (1) verb forms, (2) articles and (3) deictic elements as well as (4) the mixed method represented by combinations of the first three methods or non-standard use of lexical elements. The research strives to verify whether fictional texts of different genres maintain the same trends of triggering pragmatic presuppositions or the genre of a text imposes upon the choice of pragmatic elements.
Šiame moksliniame darbe Rogerio Fowlerio naujosios stilistikos mokslinėje perspektyvoje nagrinėjama, kaip pamatinės skaitytojo žinios įtakoja literatūrinio kūrinio teksto pradžios interpretaciją. Darbe tiriamas pragmatinių prielaidų veikimas poezijoje ir prozoje (romanuose); ištirti 437 eilėraščiai ir 223 romanai, o gauti duomenys lyginami su šešių žanrų trijų šimtų neliteratūrinių kūrinių pragmatininių prielaidų kūrimo duomenimis. Visi tyrimui atsitiktinai parinkti tekstai buvo sukurti anglakalbių dvidešimtojo amžiaus autorių. Pragmatinių prielaidų kūrimą siekiama kvantifikuoti, naudojantis Van Rooijaus ir Pottso pragmatinių verčių tyrimo strategija. Išskiriami keturi pagrindiniai pragmatinių prielaidų iššaukimo būdai – nestandartinis (1) veiksmažodžių formų, (2) artikelių ir (3) deiktinių elementų vartojimas bei (4) mišrus metodas – pirmųjų trijų metodų kombinacija arba nestandartinis leksinių priemonių vartojimas. Tyrimu siekiama patikrinti, ar skirtingų žanrų literatūriniuose tekstuose pastebimi bendri pragmatinių prielaidų iššaukimo dėsningumai, ar teksto žanras esmingai įtakoja pragmatinių elementų parinkimą.

Knowledge is the resource that provides the best possibilities of being competitive since it increases while used and is difficult to copy. Knowledge sharing has been shown to increase organizational performance in both tangible and intangible measures. Therefore, it is important that employees of a research and development department in a large Swedish industry, that were recommended to telework in combination with short-time working due to covid-19, continue sharing knowledge. This study aimed to analyze how employees in a development department share knowledge while teleworking and how it differs from knowledge sharing in a traditional office. The phenomenon was analyzed in-depth, especially what prevents the knowledge from being shared and knowledge sharing barriers that exist during telework. The objective was to gain further knowledge of how departments can share knowledge efficiently while teleworking. A qualitative single case study was conducted and 8 semi-structured interviews were held with employees at the department. The findings suggest that knowledge sharing occurs with tools that are used in a traditional office and that is no difference in terms of whom employees share knowledge with, but the face-to-face meetings are missing. A further suggestion is that it occurs by less informal knowledge sharing and that the meetings tend to have a stricter agenda that is kept at a higher degree than when working in a traditional office. The knowledge sharing barriers identified were: challenging to express knowledge, time constraints, uncertainty which knowledge to share with whom, less informal places to share knowledge, lack of trust, differences in experience/knowledge/education, attitude, and culture & leadership. The results give companies in similar situations cognizance of how knowledge sharing occurs and differ when suddenly teleworking is required and knowledge sharing barriers that exist. These findings identify risks and difficulties of knowledge sharing when teleworking.

In the competitive environment, organizational knowledge became one of the most valuable strategic resources for a company. Indeed, it is said to be the only resource that cannot be imitated, and thus, that provides a reliable competitive advantage. Hence, knowledge management has become a highly investigated field of study. In fact, knowledge sharing, one of the facets of knowledge management is considered as a helpful leverage within a company’s strategy. Knowledge sharing has been studied widely, it is found to be a powerful process to ensure that the developed knowledge within the company is kept in the company and made usable. Even though knowledge sharing has been investigated by researchers, when looking at the practices within organizations, it appears that those are not as efficient as they could be, due to organizational, technical, as well as individual hindrances that affect the establishment of such processes.   This thesis aims to increase the understanding of which factors influence individuals’ sharing behavior and which role a knowledge sharing policy takes. Therefore, interviews have been conducted with the employees within the communications department of the Alstom group. Alstom France is multinational company, which is providing transportation and energy producing solutions; this implies that the communication is a support function and needs to work efficient, which makes the matter of knowledge sharing even more important. It was found that the strategic importance of knowledge sharing is highly acknowledged within Alstom, since the company has introduced a knowledge transfer department, which has released the “Alstom Knowledge Management Transfer Handbook”, the company’s internal knowledge sharing policy. It provides a guideline for the managers within the departments. The perceived motivations and hindrances to share knowledge are mainly about the manager’s role, language and the team culture.

As companies of the 21th century are getting more and more globalized it is important for companies to stay ahead of their known and unknown competitors. Knowledge is a key factor for many companies. Knowledge cannot always be transmitted effectively between employees in companies. Large sized enterprises have adopted various information and communication technologies (ICT) in order to transmit knowledge fast and efficiently. Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) have according to previous research, not been able to apply ICT to their business as well as large sized firms The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the gap, which exists between the usage of ICT and knowledge sharing in Swedish SMEs. In this dissertation, a deductive approach will be used as the theories are existent but are lacking empirical data. The research was performed through qualitative studies, and the method that was used was case studies. The case studies were performed in four companies, which belong to the production/service industry, all the companies fall into the category of SME. A model was constructed from existing theories made by Hendriks (2001) this model was analyzed and tested thoroughly. In the analysis of this dissertation, the model was developed as new factors were discovered to have an influence on what is affecting managerial perception of ICT and how it is being used for knowledge sharing. Our findings suggest that ICT use is affected by an influence, which exists in an external layer. This influence consists of legal requirements. Legal requirements seem to have a large impact on how ICT is being used in some companies, which are operating in a knowledge-based industry.

Effective management of knowledge assets is key to surviving in today's competitive business environment. This is particularly true for large organisations, where employees have difficulties identifying where or with whom the knowledge lies. Expertise is one of the most important knowledge assets and largely resides in the heads of employees. Many attempts have been made to help locate employees with the right expertise; however, the existing systems (often referred to as expertise finding systems) carry several flaws. In organisations, there are several potential sources where expertise evidence might be found. These sources have been used by the existing approaches to profile employees' expertise. Unfortunately, there has been limited research showing whether these sources contain useful evidence of expertise. Moreover, the majority of existing approaches have not been designed to integrate with the organisations' work practices; nor have they investigated the socio-ethical challenges associated with the adoption of such systems. Therefore, there is a need for expert finding systems that utilise useful sources of expertise and integrate into existing work practices. Through industry involvement, this research has explored and validated email content as a source for expertise profiling. This thesis provides an overview of the traditional and current approaches to expertise finding. The development and implementation of the EKE (Email Knowledge Extraction) system which tries to overcome the aforementioned challenges is presented. EKE has been evaluated by end-users from both industry and academia. The evaluation results suggest that EKE is a useful system that encourages participation, and that in many cases may assist in the management of knowledge within organisations.

Direct patient care requires knowledge sharing between clinical professionals. However, clinicians have often been suspicious of managers' motives, this lack of trust often resulting in reluctance to share knowledge for managerial purposes. Trust is one component of the psychological contract - an unwritten set of expectations between employees and employer. There are strong links between components of the psychological contract and defensive behaviours. There is much theory to support these links but little research evidence to support and explain these links. To overcome defensive behaviours requires an understanding of how they have developed, and particularly the role played by the psychological contract. This research builds on research first undertaken by Argyris in the 1960s, enhanced and made relevant to the current business environment and organisational arrangements currently prevailing in the NHS. A model and an analytical framework were developed for this research to assess organisational, professional and employee health in two health authorities. This research concludes that organisational ill-health, and failure to ensure the psychological contract is intact, result in employees displaying defensive behaviours and keeping knowledge to themselves. Components of the psychological contract were found to have strong links with organisational arrangements. Subtle variances were found between clinical and non-clinical employees, and between Chief Executives/Directors and those below this level. This research adds to our knowledge by identifying the different ways in which these groups develop paradigms that are often in conflict, sometimes intangible, and usually difficult to change. This added knowledge will allow organisational, team and personal development to have a sharper focus, particularly with reference to development of the psychological contract in the NHS, overcoming defensive behaviours, and breaking down barriers to knowledge sharing. This will support the development of infrastructures, teams and individuals to take NHS organisations into the 21st century with added confidence.

Анотація:
A growing interest in Two-Way Bilingual Immersion (TWBI) programs has led to increased attention to bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism. This article describes the writing development in Spanish and English for 49 kindergarten students in a 50/50 Two-Way Bilingual Immersion program. Over the course of an academic year, the authors collected writing samples to analyze evidence of cross-linguistic resource sharing using a grounded theoretical approach to compare and contrast writing samples to determine patterns of cross-linguistic resource sharing in English and Spanish. The authors identified four patterns: phonological, syntactic, lexical, and metalinguistic awareness. Findings indicated that emergent writers applied similar strategies as older bilingual students, including lexical level code-switching, applied phonological rules of L1 to their respective L2s, and used experiential and content knowledge to write in their second language. These findings have instructional implications for both English Learners and native English speakers as well as for learning from students for program improvement.

From January 22 to 25, 2018, RTI International, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and the Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE) held the 2018 Impression, Pattern and Trace Evidence Symposium (IPTES) in Arlington, VA, to promote collaboration, enhance knowledge transfer, and share best practices and policies for the impression, pattern, and trace evidence forensic science communities. NIJ and FTCoE are committed to improving the practice of forensic science and strengthening its impact through support of research and development, rigorous technology evaluation and adoption, effective knowledge transfer and education, and comprehensive dissemination of best practices and guidelines to agencies dedicated to combating crime. The future of forensic sciences and its contribution to the public and criminal justice community is a motivating topic to gather expertise in a forum to discuss, learn, and share ideas. It’s about becoming part of an essential and historic movement as the forensic sciences continue to advance. The IPTES was specifically designed to bring together practitioners and researchers to enhance information-sharing and promote collaboration among the impression, pattern, and trace evidence analysts, law enforcement, and legal communities.
