<p>The aim of this work was to develop and test the questionnaire of imaginary representations of the professional activity of athletes. We have developed a questionnaire of 100 questions, including 9 parameters (subscales). The questionnaire was tested on 399 sportsmen, 48.4% of which were candidates for the master of sports, master of sports or international class master of sports. The statistical analysis showed a good agreement of these parameters (subscales), which was 0,61&mdash;0,89. Characteristic features of image representations (IR) were revealed for representatives of different sports. The results showed that in dynamic sports under conditions of uncertainty athletes more often note the IR of temporal, spatial, informational, energetic aspects of the sports situation, as well as the game intellect. In solitarysports athletes more often talk about motivational-personal aspects of representation, in group sports &mdash; about the representation of the social environment, which is explained by the specifics inherent in solitary and group sports activities. It is also shown that in dynamic sports under given conditions "peaks" of the profile are noted on the representation of technical-tactical, energy components and motivational-personal aspects. In static sports technical-tactical and motivational-personal aspects of representation come to the fore. Thus, the questionnaire of imaginary representations of professional activity of athletes can be used as a tool for diagnostics of peculiarities of imaginary representations in athletes.</p>

AbstractObjective: to analyze the representations about domestic violence against women, among health professionals of Family Health Units.Method: qualitative study based on the Theory of Social Representations. Data were collected by means of evocations and interviews, treating them in the Ensemble de Programmes Pemettant L'Analyse des Evocations software - EVOC and content analysis.Results: nurses, physicians, nursing technicians and community health agents participated. The evocations were answered by 201 professionals and, of these, 64 were interviewed. The central core of this representation, comprised by the terms "aggression", "physical-aggression", "cowardice" and "lack of respect", which have negative connotations and were cited by interviewees. In the contrast zone, comprised by the terms "abuse", "abuse-power", "pain", "humiliation", "impunity", "suffering", "sadness" and "violence", two subgroups were identified. The first periphery contains the terms "fear", evoked most often, followed by "revolt", "low self-esteem" and "submission", and in the second periphery "acceptance" and "professional support".Conclusion: this is a structured representation since it contains conceptual, imagetic and attitudinal elements. The subgroups were comprised by professionals working in the rural area and by those who had completed their professional training course in or after 2004. These presented a representation of violence different from the representation of the general group, although all demonstrated a negative connotation of this phenomenon.

Анотація:
The purpose of this study is to investigate problem representation and judgment by auditing professionals within the context of a going-concern task. Our results suggest more experienced auditors have more concise problem representations than do novices. In addition, our results show that some types of concepts listed in the problem representation are associated with judgment, regardless of experience level. This study makes several contributions. First, understanding differences in problem representation at different levels of experience (novice, intermediate, and experienced) gives insight into the process of how representations change as experience changes/develops. Understanding the development of “becoming qualified” to make judgments regarding the going-concern evaluation assists in (1) the development of teaching approaches for analyzing a company's financial condition, and (2) professional development for less-experienced professionals. Further, our measure of problem representation, similar to that in Christ's (1993) study, provides a task-sensitive measure of problem representation for accounting research. This should have important implications for understanding expertise development in complex problem-solving tasks that auditors and accountants face.

Анотація:
The objective of the paper is to answer the question how students-future environmental engineers define their practice through the analysis of their social representations of acmeology and its influence on professional becoming. Two methods of research were used by us: theoretical analysis and diagnostic tests. It is stated that social representation is an “environment” in relation to the person/group. The professional becoming and acmeology representation constitutes a concept simultaneously hybrid and frame in an area of studies, the social psychology that has been constructed from the interdisciplinary nature. Social representation gives a possibility to comprehend professional mobility understanding. The concept of the social representations was characterized, the understanding of which by future environmental engineers was analyzed in given article. The social representation issue of professional becoming and acmeology designates a particular knowledge form. We have analyzed the understanding of social representation of professional becoming by students. Two methods of research were used by us: theoretical analysis and diagnostic tests. Students of 1-4 courses of the training direction “Technosphere safety” took part in the surveys. In conclusion it is stated that social representation professional becoming and acmeology could provide an increasing of future environmental engineers’ professional interests, as well using personality resources for success achievements within professional activity.

This study aimed to further our understanding of the social representations of nurses and the nursing profession by communication professionals, since they are intermediates in the decoding of imaging and written representations about society. Method: this is a qualitative study, based on the social representation theory of Moscovici. Five communication professionals working on radio, television, written press, advertising and events were interviewed. Results suggest 1) ignorance about the nurse's field of work, job market and nursing profession categorization. 2) nurses' invisibility before the media and society and 3) nurse's own responsibility to obtain professional recognition and visibility. Participants in this study pointed two essential processes for building a more coherent image of nursing and nurses: 1) exposing the profession primarily before the media, which ignores its potentialities, and 2) through the media in order to reach the population in general.

This article explores female occupational identity construction by looking at the issue of media representations of women’s police work in the United Kingdom. The example, television representation, discussed here, is the character of Sergeant Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley, a UK police drama written by a UK-based playwright, Sally Wainwright. As the lead character in Happy Valley, Sergeant Catherine Cawood’s on-screen portrayal will be the focus of the discussion in this article. Building on findings from previous research undertaken by the author, which explored how gendered identities of women police professionals are represented in the media, this article argues that television representations of UK female police work portray a particular form of professional femininity, one which I argue is still highly ‘gendered’, mainly because such representation of women’s police work relies on narratives centred on the effective and competent use of ‘emotional labour’.

- For long, Health Psychology has been interested in the cognitive processes which shape the concepts of health and illness. Less space has been devoted to the study of pain and its representation. Adopting a social representations approach, the present paper inquires the shared features of the representation of pain. In a joint interdisciplinary project University of Padova - Hospital of Rovigo, the content, field and structure of SR shared by health professionals (N = 245) and students (N = 163) have been analysed. Data gathered through a free association task to the word-stimulus "pain" has been sub- mitted to correspondence factor analysis and to analysis of rank and frequency. The results have been discussed with professionals in focus groups. The main results show a conception which appears normative, based on "classic" dualisms such as mind vs. body, evaluation vs. experience. The prevalence of aspects of classification, coherent with the diagnostic practice, enhances the importance of formative moments which allow to widen and diversify the span of interpretations and practices relative to the understanding and treatment of pain.Key words: pain, social representations, professional, students, institutional changeParole chiave: dolore, rappresentazioni sociali, professionisti, studenti, cambiamento istituzionale

Анотація:
The study defines two main research areas of ideas about a rescuer psychologist. The first area is devoted to the issue of creating social representations about the specialist psychologist and his/her relations with representatives of other professional groups. The other area is represented by works focused on the direct analysis of the profession of psychologist, specific peculiarities of professional activity and personal characteristics of the psychologist. It is indicated that the study of the representations about rescuer psychologist’ involves collective consciousness, and the main direction that allows to solve the reconstruction problem of idea about a rescuer psychologist in the system of categories and conceptual coordinates is psychosemantics. For this purpose, the method of associative experiment defines the basic constructs used by the population to evaluate the representation about a psychologist. The obtained words associations were used to develop a method of semantic scaling of the concept "Psychologist". The research has constructed the semantic profiles of perception of a civilian psychologist and a rescuer psychologist, their most pronounced characteristics were defined. With the help of multidimensional scaling the place of rescuer psychologist in psychosemantic space of psychologists of different kinds of activity was determined. Thus, the rescuer psychologist has the closest professional similarity with a military psychologist and forensic psychologist. According to the respondents' opinion, he/she (a rescuer psychologist) mainly provides psychological correction and rehabilitation, he/she has to work in uncomfortable and dangerous conditions, and also to deal with both individual and group psychological problems.

Анотація:
OBJECTIVES: to analyze the process of the constitution and evolution of social representations and practices referent to aids, based on studies carried out in the last eleven years among health professionals. METHOD: a comparison of representational structures of aids in different decades was undertaken, accompanied by a study of the silent zone, involving health professionals. Data collection and analysis included techniques of free association, structural analysis, and study of the silent zone. RESULTS: the existence of a process of change was observed in the social representations of aids, with the introduction of the possibility of co-existence with the disease and the reduction of the importance of death. CONCLUSIONS: this process is presented as the result of a complex movement of symbolic constructions arising from human interactions, contributing to knowledge of ways of thinking associated with the syndrome and to professional practices in healthcare.

Abstract This study aimed at describing community health agents’ representational structure on domestic violence against women. A quantitative-qualitative research study based on the Theory of Social Representations in its structural approach and carried out in a municipality from inland Bahia, Brazil. The community health agents participated through free evocation and centrality techniques: choix-par-bloc, constitution of word pairs and mise-en-cause, from May to August 2019. Data analysis was carried out by means of the EVOC software (Ensemble of Programs Permettant I’analyse des Evocations), similarity analysis and mise-en-cause analysis. These professionals’ representational structure is organized from the central elements of disrespect and sadness, which attribute negative meanings to the representation regarding their positions and repercussions; the other elements integrate specific information to the structure of the representations, justifying them. It is concluded that the understanding regarding organization of the community agents’ social thinking about the phenomenon allows its problematization, as well as the elaboration of prevention and coping strategies for women in situations of violence, the aggressors and the community.

La présente thèse se propose d'appréhender les représentations liées à la scolarisation des enfants handicapés dans le milieu scolaire ordinaire en Haïti. Pour y parvenir, nous avons effectué trois études. La première étude est qualitative. Elle a été réalisée auprès de 12 personnes, dont 7 personnes handicapées et 5 responsables d'associations. Elle répond à notre premier objectif, celui d'appréhender les représentations sociales du handicap dans la société haïtienne. Les résultats de l'analyse thématique montrent que le handicap se situe à travers le prisme de l'irrationnel et du magique et renvoie à deux dimensions principales : invisible ou surnaturelle (action des loas, sort jeté par un sorcier…) et divine (punition, châtiment infligé par Dieu pour avoir commis un péché). Ces représentations impactent toutes les sphères de la société. Dans une seconde étude qualitative auprès de 5 mères d'élèves handicapés scolarisés en milieu ordinaire et 32 enseignants (ayant accueilli ou non des élèves handicapés), nous avons étudié les incidences des représentations du handicap sur la scolarisation des enfants handicapés en milieu ordinaire. Le corpus a été soumis à une analyse lexicale (avec le logiciel Alceste), complétée par une analyse thématique afin de préciser le contenu des représentations. Les résultats montrent que les représentations associées au handicap, et qui sont tributaires des croyances culturelles, font obstacle à la scolarisation de ces élèves. Les enseignants craignent que cette scolarisation nuise à leur identité professionnelle. De plus, ils soulignent le manque de formation. Les élèves handicapés sont perçus comme relevant du milieu spécialisé. La troisième étude est quantitative. Elle s'intéressait aux attitudes des enseignants en exercice et des futurs enseignants sur la scolarisation des élèves en milieu ordinaire. Nous avons également étudié leur sentiment de compétence, leurs croyances culturelles et leur intention d'agir. 193 enseignants ont participé à l'étude (111 enseignants en exercice et 82 en formation initiale). Les analyses statistiques montrent que les deux groupes d'enseignants ne sont pas favorables à la scolarisation en milieu ordinaire. Les croyances culturelles influencent négativement leurs attitudes. Outre l'empreinte des croyances culturelles associées au handicap, les enseignants ne s'estiment pas compétents pour prendre en charge ces élèves
This thesis aims to understand the represenntations related to the schooling of children with disabilities in the regular school environment in Haiti. Toachieve this, we conducted three studies. The first study is qualitative. It was carried out with 12 people, including 7 with disabilities and 5 association leaders. It addresses our first objective, which was to understand the social representations of disability in Haitian society. The results of the thematic analysis show that disability is construed through the prism of the irrational and the magical and refers to two main dimensions: the invisible or supernatural (action of loas, spell cast by a sorcerer...) and the divine (punishment, punishment inflicted by God for having committed a sin). These representations impact all spheres of society. In a second qualitative study with 5 mothers of disabled students enrolled in mainstream schools and 32 teachers (who may or may not have accommodated disabled students), we studied the impact of disability representations on the enrolment of disabled children in mainstream schools. The corpus was subjected to a lexical analysis (with the Alceste software), completed by a thematic analysis in order to specify the content of the representations. The results show that the representations associated with disability, which are dependent on cultural beliefs, are an obstacle to the schooling of these pupils. The teachers fear that this schooling will harm their professional identity. Further, they emphasize their lack of training. Students with disabilities are perceived as belonging to a specialized milieu. The third study is quanntitative. It looked at the attitudes of practicing and future teachers about the schooling of students in a regular setting. We also examined their sense of competence, cultural beliefs, and intention to act. 193 teachers participated in the study (111 practicing teachers and 82 pre-service teachers). Statistical analyses showed that both groups of teachers do not support mainstream schooling. Cultural beliefs negatively influence their attitudes. In addition to the cultural beliefs associated with disability, teachers did not feel competent to handle these students

Cette thèse analyse la confrontation entre les réformes postales inspirées du nouveau management public, cristallisées dans la politique de rationalisation de l’activité de travail, et les pratiques professionnelles des salariés. Elle étudie les enjeux, les modalités et les limites de la définition normative du travail des conseillers financiers. Désignés par l’organisation comme des acteurs du changement, ces derniers doivent gérer la tension entre logique de marché et mission de service public, qui persiste à travers un double langage de La Poste. Sont ainsi mis en évidence des positionnements professionnels qui se construisent en décalage par rapport à la norme de référence du conseiller idéal portée par l’entreprise. Cette dernière mise donc sur ses jeunes recrues, supposées réceptives aux nouvelles logiques managériales. L’étude du processus de socialisation professionnelle de ces conseillers potentiels, inscrit dans les parcours individuels, permet d’interroger l’homogénéisation des pratiques et la persistance du modèle social postal. L’approche repose sur une comparaison territoriale (Méditerranée/Île-de-France) et générationnelle. La combinaison de plusieurs techniques d’investigation (observation participante au sein de la DRH de La Banque Postale, enquête longitudinale prospective par panel menée auprès d’apprentis conseillers financiers, monographie de bureaux de poste et exploitation de données statistiques) permet de croiser les parcours biographiques et les éléments structurels d’analyse des politiques d’emploi, de travail et de formation de La Poste
This thesis analyses the confrontation between postal reforms inspired by the new public management, fulfilled in the rationalisation politics of the working activity, and employee professional practices. It studies the stakes, the modalities and the limits of the financial advisers normative work definition. Designated as change agents by the organisation, they must manage the dynamics between market logic and the public services mission which persists through a double language at La Poste. This puts into evidence the professional positioning that is constructed based on the referential norm of the ideal adviser portrayed by the organisation. The latest therefore counts on its young recruits, excepted to be receptive to the new managerial logics. The study of the socialisation process of its potential advisers, registered on individual career paths, allows questioning the homogenisation in the practices and persistence of the social postal model. The approach is based on a territorial comparison (Mediterranean/Parisian region) as well as generational. The combination of several investigation techniques (participative observation within the HR Direction at La Banque Postale, longitudinal panel survey conducted on financial adviser apprentices, monograph of post offices and exploitation of statistic data) allows crossing of biographical paths (personal and career) and the structural elements of employment politics analysis, work, and training at La Poste

Cette thèse vise à appréhender les possibilités et les contraintes induites par LinkedIn en termes de « représentation de soi » chez les professionnels des ressources humaines. La recension de la littérature permet de mettre en évidence deux grandes catégories d’utilisation d’un profil LinkedIn : l’utilisation individuelle et l’utilisation institutionnelle. Par ailleurs, il apparaît que le profil pourrait potentiellement permettre à l’individu d’accroître son efficacité au travail, de divulguer son image à un grand nombre de personnes, de développer des relations avec d’autres professionnels ou de développer la confiance en soi. Une première typologie d’utilisateurs est proposée à partir de la sociologie des RSNP. Une analyse sémiotique de profils LinkedIn et des entretiens de recherche compréhensifs ont permis de valider une typologie des usagers du réseau LinkedIn. Les résultats montrent qu’un clivage entre deux grands types d’utilisation semble se dessiner. L’utilisation institutionnelle fait apparaître une forme d’empowerment tournée vers l’efficacité au travail tandis que l’utilisation individuelle est propice à la médiatisation de soi
This doctoral dissertation focuses on the use of professional network services by Human Resource staff registered on LinkedIn. The aim is to understand the new possibilities and the constraints induced by the RSNP in terms of "self-representation". The literature review shows that a LinkedIn profile can be used in two main ways : for individual and institutional uses. Moreover, it appears that the profile could potentially allow users to increase their efficiency at work by making their image known to a large number of people, to develop relationships with other professionals or develop self-confidence. An initial typology of users is proposed based on the sociology of PNS. A semiotic analysis of LinkedIn profiles and comprehensive research interviews also validate a typology of users. The results show that a cleavage between two major types of use seems to appear. The common purpose of institutional use is to be more efficient at work. At the same time, individual use mainly pursues an objective of self-mediatization

In the United Kingdom, the Sri Lankan, Tamil population has grown as a result of asylum movements. Previous discussions about Special Educational Needs or Learning Disabilities within ‘South Asian’ communities have tended to overlook this community. Previous literature has highlighted that families with children and young people with learning disabilities and mental health problems from minority ethnic communities face challenges when accessing services (Raghavan, 2007). Given the differing cultural backgrounds of Sri Lankan, Tamil parents and educational professionals trained and practicing in London, this research aimed to develop an understanding of how Special Educational Needs (SEN) is understood and experienced by Sri Lankan, Tamil parents, Educational Psychologists (EP) and Special Educational Need Co-Ordinators (SENCos). Social representations theory (Moscovici, 2004) provided the theoretical mechanism to explore the shared and unshared meanings and experiences of parents and professionals connected with children who have SEN, whilst taking into account cultural relevances. A qualitative methodology was employed underpinned by a social constructionist paradigm. Data was collected in a London based local authority, which has experienced increases in numbers of the Tamil population over the past few decades. Episodic narrative interviews (Flick, 2009) were used to gather data. In total four parents, four SENCos and five EPs were interviewed using a semi-structured format. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the narratives of parents and professionals. Findings were presented in three sections. Overall the findings from the three participant groups signified the role of socio-cultural contexts in building representations and shaping practices. The dominance of the biomedical model in the discourse of professional’s non-normative representations of SEN was highlighted in the SENCo’s and EP’s data. SENcos and EPs spoke of SEN in categorical terms and made direct references to legislation. Parents did not have pre-prescribed representations of SEN and made sense of their child’s needs through various sources of information. All three participant groups drew upon experiences of tension and conflict resulting from differences in how SEN was understood. Parents took an active role in supporting their child in the home and were pro-active in engaging with services. Whilst specialised provisions in the form of a special schools were important amongst the SENCos and EPs, findings from parent’s data highlighted tensions regarding ideas of inclusion and labelling of SEN. Power inequalities amongst Sri Lankan, Tamil parents and professionals are addressed, and the role of the EP as intermediaries between scientific and lay knowledge is discussed as a way forward in developing partnership with parents.

The aim of this thesis is to examine representations of masculinity in the activities of a local professional wrestling promotion. After briefly outlining what professional wrestling is, the study draws on a body on feminist and intersectional theory which critiques the notion of gender as a binary and essential category. The material comprises 10 recorded shows and oth- er material published on Sthlm Wrestling’s website between 2010 and 2013, and is analyzed using a qualitative methodology derived from cultural studies. The thesis argues that there are many different types of masculinities in the narrative, which are constructed in relation to different power hierarchies such as ethnicity, class, sex and sexuality. The few female wrestlers are marginalized, but not sexualized as in the U.S. context. The heels (rule-breakers) are found on the borders of social and cultural categories, and there is an explicit SM-narrative present.

The research brings together elements from two disciplines, the sociology of education and film studies, to investigate the relevance of 'reel' world teacher representations to the real world lives of teachers, and to explore how the former offer opportunity for reflection on professional development and change. Media texts are utilised as an unconventional resource as either a replacement for and/or enhancement of educational theory, and teachers drawn from different stages of the teaching life cycle provide empirical data via their writing aspects of teacher culture in response to the stimulus of each text. In an age of visual culture, educational research which explores the medium of film is an important resource for professional development and change is an original contribution to knowledge at a time when current concerns are largely related to the repercussions of the ongoing implementation of government reforms. The research identifies the charismatic teacher who inspires loyalty and admiration in his/her students, forming a special relationship with them in a way which no other colleague can. A more complex analysis suggests that there are four varieties of the charismatic teacher: the eccentric, the resilient, the romantic and the enduring. Responses to such characters reveal that real world teachers reflect on the uncinematic bureaucracy of their everyday work compared with energised settings where student problems and cynical colleagues are overcome by 'reel' world teachers unfettered by pre-set agendas. A real/'reel' overlap occurs as real world teachers re-examine the personal and professional relationships which underpin their everyday work. Through watching examples from screen culture, they reflect on what the demands and rewards of teaching are, and how these impinge on a teacher's health and private life; the development of relationships with both students and colleagues; and the influence of those outside classroom and staffroom, both at local and government levels.

A competency-based approach to education has become central in discussing and assessing the quality of education. Competency is vital for any individual to cope successfully with challenging tasks in his/her professional, social and private life and achieve the goals set. In order to practically implement the approach in higher education institutions, it is necessary to understand what competencies are required by the labour market and what their structure is, as well as to select or develop models or frameworks for describing these competencies. One of the most relevant competencies in the modern world is digital competence which implies knowledge and skills to use information and communication technology (ICT) to achieve professional, social and personal goals. Although the need for developing digital competence is actual for specialists in any field, the definition of its structure for ICT professionals is mainly ignored. Therefore, it can hinder the development of quality educational programs and prevent graduates from being equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge. This study applies a systematic literature review to answer three research questions concerning the types and structure of digital competence of ICT professionals, the developed models and frameworks of digital and professional competence of ICT specialists, and the representation of digital competence in the existing competence frameworks and models. The research results offer the conceptualisation of digital competence for ICT specialists. It includes transversal digital competence, general professional digital competence, and specific professional digital competence, together with indicating an appropriate framework for each of the competence types mentioned.

This paper examines the use of language (text and verbal communication) across school and work settings. The participants of the study are from two distinct pools — 380 first-year engineering students and 355 industry professionals. To test the study predictions and interpret the results the individual data sets from both studies were reviewed and analyzed. Data suggests that for the professional engineering population, face to face communication was the preferred communication mode for sharing engineering evaluation, communicating difficult concepts, and describing their work product. Email and file sharing were also utilized communication options, but to a lesser extent. Data from students facing a simulated professional assignment (produce a fabrication instruction for assembling a mechanical object) indicated that 94% of the students’ chose to use language to produce fabrication instructions, compared to only 6% of students who used another tool of engineering representation in the form of sketches. Data investigation and outcomes are discussed in terms of prevalence and importance of language in engineering education.

The rapid evolvement of the computing domain has posed challenges in attempting to bridge the gap between school and the contemporary world of computing, which is related to content, learning culture, and professional norms. We believe that the interaction of high-school students who major in computer science or software engineering with leading representatives ofthe computing community of practice may motivate them to pursue their studies further or pursue a career in the field. Accordingly, our program aims at exposing talented high-school students "directly by leading experts" to state-of-the-art computing research, advanced technologies, software engineering methodologies, and professional norms. The interaction between the students and the experts, who actually become role models for the students, occurs at two levels: (a) during enrichment plenary meetings, and (b) through one-to-one interaction in which students develop software projects under the apprenticeship-based supervision of professionals from the computing community of practice. In the last four years, six hundred students participated in enrichment activities; 86 of these students accomplished high-level software projects under the supervision of experts.

Research methodology. The following methods were used in this research: general scientific methods (descriptive, analysis, synthesis, comparison) and special (structural, hermeneutic, narrative, method of content analysis). We identified words related to the concept of the enemy and determined the context in which they are used by the authors of the collections Results. The formats of reflection of military reality in collections of military documentaries are investigated. It is emphasized that the authors-observers of events as professional communicators form a vision of events based on categories understandable to the audience – «own» and «others». Instead, the authors-participants go events have more creative space and pay more attention to their own emotional state and reflections. It is defined how the enemy is depicted and what place he occupies in the military reality represented by the authors. It is emphasized that the authors reflect the enemy in different ways. In particular, the authors-observers of the events tried to form a comprehensive vision of the events, and therefore paid much attention to the opposite side of the military conflict. Authors-participants of the events tend to show the enemy as a mass to be opposed. In such collections, the enemy is specified only in the presence of evidence confirming the presence of Russians or militants. Novelty. The research for the first time investigates the methods of representation of mi­litary activity in the collections of Ukrainian military documentaries. The article is devoted to the analysis of how the authors represent the enemy. Practical importance. The analysis of collections of military documentaries will allow to study the phenomenon of war and to trace the peculiarities of the authors’ representation of military reality.

Augmented reality is one of the most modern information visualization technologies. Number of scientific studies on different aspects of augmented reality technology development and application is analyzed in the research. Practical examples of augmented reality technologies for various industries are described. Very often augmented reality technologies are used for: social interaction (communication, entertainment and games); education; tourism; areas of purchase/sale and presentation. There are various scientific and mass events in Ukraine, as well as specialized training to promote augmented reality technologies. There are following results of the research: main benefits that educational institutions would receive from introduction of augmented reality technology are highlighted; it is determined that application of augmented reality technologies in education would contribute to these technologies development and therefore need increase for specialists in the augmented reality; growth of students' professional level due to application of augmented reality technologies is proved; adaptation features of augmented reality technologies in learning disciplines for students of different educational institutions are outlined; it is advisable to apply integrated approach in the process of preparing future professionals of new technological era; application of augmented reality technologies increases motivation to learn, increases level of information assimilation due to the variety and interactivity of its visual representation. Main difficulties of application of augmented reality technologies are financial, professional and methodical. Following factors are necessary for introduction of augmented reality technologies: state support for such projects and state procurement for development of augmented reality technologies; conduction of scientific research and experimental confirmation of effectiveness and pedagogical expediency of augmented reality technologies application for training of specialists of different specialties; systematic conduction of number of national and international events on dissemination and application of augmented reality technology. Анотація:
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) holds the PPP Americas every two years in partnership with a national or subnational government. The regional forum brings together top professionals and public and private-sector representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to discuss groundbreaking topics and exchange ideas on planning, structuring, and managing public-private partnerships (PPPs). For the 2023 conference, the IDB is holding three preparatory events - the PPP Talks before the main event. During the PPP Talks, invited experts will lay the groundwork for the discussions to be held during the conference. The third PPP Talk will consist of two panels on May 4th, 2023: Driving Inclusion and Measuring Impact, both topics are part of the thematic agenda of PPP Americas 2023. This Concept Note provides the conceptual framework of the two themes discussed during these panels. In addition, this note offers descriptions of key concepts, as well as the main opportunities and challenges that countries in Latin America and the Caribbean face in each area.

Assessments, especially those used for high-stakes decision making, draw on evidence-based frameworks. Such frameworks inform every aspect of the testing process, from development to results reporting. The frameworks that language assessment professionals use draw on theory in language learning, assessment design, and measurement and psychometrics in order to provide underpinnings for the evaluation of language skills including speaking, writing, reading, and listening. This paper focuses on the construct, or underlying trait, of writing ability. The paper conceptualizes the writing construct for the Duolingo English Test, a digital-first assessment. “Digital-first” includes technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, with human expert involvement, throughout all item development, test scoring, and security processes. This work is situated in the Burstein et al. (2022) theoretical ecosystem for digital-first assessment, the first representation of its kind that incorporates design, validation/measurement, and security all situated directly in assessment practices that are digital first. The paper first provides background information about the Duolingo English Test and then defines the writing construct, including the purposes for writing. It also introduces principles underpinning the design of writing items and illustrates sample items that assess the writing construct.

Qualitative research is focused on the influence of COVID-19 pandemic and restriction measures on sexual and reproductive health in Latvia. Results of the anonymous online survey (I-SHARE) of 1173 people living in Latvia age 18 and over were used as a background in finalization the interview and the focus group discussion protocols ensuring better understanding of the influencing factors. Higher education related to water is a critical component of capacity development necessary to support countries’ progress towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) overall, and towards the SDG6 water and sanitation goal in particular. Although the precise number is unknown, there are at least 28,000 higher education institutions in the world. The actual number is likely higher and constantly changing. Water education programmes are very diverse and complex and can include components of engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, hydrology, hydrogeology, ecology, geography, earth sciences, public health, sociology, law, and political sciences, to mention a few areas. In addition, various levels of qualifications are offered, ranging from certificate, diploma, baccalaureate, to the master’s and doctorate (or equivalent) levels. The percentage of universities offering programmes in ‘water’ ranges from 40% in the USA and Europe to 1% in subSaharan Africa. There are no specific data sets available for the extent or quality of teaching ‘water’ in universities. Consequently, insights on this have to be drawn or inferred from data sources on overall research and teaching excellence such as Scopus, the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities, the Times Higher Education, the Ranking Web of Universities, the Our World in Data website and the UN Statistics Division data. Using a combination of measures of research excellence in water resources and related topics, and overall rankings of university teaching excellence, universities with representation in both categories were identified. Very few universities are represented in both categories. Countries that have at least three universities in the list of the top 50 include USA, Australia, China, UK, Netherlands and Canada. There are universities that have excellent reputations for both teaching excellence and for excellent and diverse research activities in water-related topics. They are mainly in the USA, Europe, Australia and China. Other universities scored well on research in water resources but did not in teaching excellence. The approach proposed in this report has potential to guide the development of comprehensive programmes in water. No specific comparative data on the quality of teaching in water-related topics has been identified. This report further shows the variety of pathways which most water education programmes are associated with or built in – through science, technology and engineering post-secondary and professional education systems. The multitude of possible institutions and pathways to acquire a qualification in water means that a better ‘roadmap’ is needed to chart the programmes. A global database with details on programme curricula, qualifications offered, duration, prerequisites, cost, transfer opportunities and other programme parameters would be ideal for this purpose, showing country-level, regional and global search capabilities. Cooperation between institutions in preparing or presenting water programmes is currently rather limited. Regional consortia of institutions may facilitate cooperation. A similar process could be used for technical and vocational education and training, although a more local approach would be better since conditions, regulations and technologies vary between relatively small areas. Finally, this report examines various factors affecting the future availability of water professionals. This includes the availability of suitable education and training programmes, choices that students make to pursue different areas of study, employment prospects, increasing gender equity, costs of education, and students’ and graduates’ mobility, especially between developing and developed countries. This report aims to inform and open a conversation with educators and administrators in higher education especially those engaged in water education or preparing to enter that field. It will also benefit students intending to enter the water resources field, professionals seeking an overview of educational activities for continuing education on water and government officials and politicians responsible for educational activities

The communication between connected vehicles and traffic signal controllers is defined in SAE Surface Vehicle Standard J2735. SAE J2735 defines traffic signal status messages and a series of 16 confidence levels for traffic signal transitions. This paper discusses a statistical method for tabulating traffic signal data by phase and time of day and populating the SAE J2735 messages. Graphical representation of the red-green and green-yellow transitions are presented from six intersections along a 4-mile corridor for five different time of day timing plans. The case study provided illustrates the importance of characterizing the stochastic variation of traffic signals to understand locations, phases, and time of day when traffic indications operate with high predictability, and periods when there are large variations in traffic signal change times. Specific cases, such as low vehicle demand and occasional actuation of pedestrian phases are highlighted as situations that may reduce the predictability of traffic signal change intervals. The results from this study also opens up discussion among transportation professionals on the importance of consistent tabulation of confidence values for both beginning and end of green signal states. We believe this paper will initiate dialog on how to consistently tabulate important data elements transmitted in SAE J2735 and perhaps refine those definitions. The paper concludes by highlighting the importance of traffic engineers and connected vehicle developers to work together to develop shared visions on traffic signal change characteristics so that the in-vehicle use cases and human-machine interface (HMI) meet user expectations.
