In this study, the radioprotective ability of KMRC011, a novel toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5) agonist, was investigated in C57BL6/N mice exposed to lethal total-body gamma-irradiation. To develop new radioprotectors, two kinds of novel chiral nitronyl nitroxyl radicals: L- tert-butyl 2-(4, 5-dihydro-4, 4, 5, 5-tetramethyl-3-oxido-1 H-imidazol-3-ium-1-oxyl-2-yl) pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate ( L-NNP) and L- tert-butyl 2-[(4-(4, 5-dihydro-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-3-oxido-1 H-imidazol-3-ium-1-oxyl-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenoxy)methyl] pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate ( L-NNVP) have been synthesised. The cytotoxic and radioprotective effects of these two compounds were then evaluated in rat glioma C6 cells.

The effect of creatine (Cr) as a dietary supplement (creatine monohydrate in a 0.9% glucose solution per os at the 1g/kg of rat weight dosage, for two weeks prior to and two weeks after the irradiation) on the post-radiation DNA damage of peripheral blood mononuclear cells and the distribution disorders per rats’ hepatocyte ploidy, induced by the total one-time irradiation in the dosage of 4,5 and 6.5 Gy, has been studied. This study aimed to evaluate the protective effects of curcumin on cellular redox homeostasis and its impact on reactive oxygen species (ROS)- related genotoxicity in vitro. The cytokinesis-block micronucleus (CBMN) test assessed genotoxicity, while thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) levels measured oxidative stress induction using standard spectrophotometric methods. Results demonstrate that curcumin exhibited significant protective effects across all concentrations tested, highlighting its potential to maintain cellular homeostasis and mitigate oxidative damage.

In the course of this work, the radioprotective properties of copper chlorophyllin and riboxin were studied. Both substances contribute to improving the survival rate of irradiated mice and reducing radiation-induced oxidative stress. The suppression of chlorophyllin cells of the A549 line actualizes the development of ways to use it to increase the effectiveness and reduce the negative effects of radiation therapy.
