The biological oil- polluted soil treatment method is used widely; however it is not effective enough because the microorganism‟s metabolism is affected by seasonal temperature fluctuation. Besides, soil remediation processes are very slow because of low solubility of oil and oil products in water. Biological surface active compounds show promising results in oil-polluted soil bioremediation. Three hydrocarbons degrading microorganisms strains, showing high emulsification activity were selected.

Peat soil is well known as problematic soil because of its poor geotechnical properties such as high-water content, low shear strength, high organic matter, low bearing capacity and high compressibility. Due to these geotechnical issues of peat soil, improvement of the soil is essential in order to enhance its engineering properties. Peat soils are formed from a mixture of fragments of organic material originating from decaying plants, whether weathered or not. The physical and mechanical characteristics of peat soil are strongly influenced by the degree of decomposition. To accelerate the dec

The ultimate goal is to effect a rapid biodegradation before the contaminants in the oil are leached into the groundwater or carried into surface waters with runoff. DNA prepared from soil usually contains a brown-tinted inhibitor of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) which limits the sensitivity of this technique for specific detection of microorganisms. To localize the inhibitor, soil fractions were tested for their inhibitory effect on the PCR reaction. Abstract The clay mineral bentonite has received a lot of attention for its potential to reduce the harmful effects of drought on soil health and biological activity. Reduced enzymatic activity and microbial diversity are two negative outcomes of the drought’s impact on soil quality. The sustainable use of space, the reduction in water use compared to soil-based agriculture, the lack of pesticides, the ability to control nutrient inputs, and the implementation of user-friendly technology for environmental control and harvesting are all factors that have made the global market for vertical farming predicted to reach more than USD 10.02 billion by 2027. By comparison, soil-based agriculture consumes 20 times more water,

Wetlands worldwide face increasing challenges due to human activities such as water extraction, deforestation, and overfishing. These ecosystems are crucial for biodiversity, water retention, and purification. In Ecuador, the “Abras de Mantequilla” wetland exemplifies these pressures. It serves as a vital site for studying the interactions between soil fertility and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in forest ecosystems. The study focused on the soil fertility, particularly in relation to AMF in "Noah Morán" secondary forest within the Abras de Mantequilla wetland. The key role of AMF in impr

The application of organic fertilizers and biological inputs to soil inevitably affects its quality, agrochemical indicators, and microbiota. Sustainable agriculture is based on continuously learning about how to properly manage available soil, water, and biological resources. The aim of the study was to determine changes in microorganism communities and carbon stocks in infertile soils for fertilization using different organic fertilizers and their combinations with bio-inputs. This design adopts the method of horizontal arrangement to set the aerator pipes because it’s more effective than an upright way. The pipes are divided into two vertical levels. Firstly there should be an excavation of foundation pit or grooves to put the pipes in two levels. Then the pipes in two levels can be set at vertical directions. After burying the pipe the earth should be backfilled into the grooves. When backfilling the lower level groove, we put some certain microorganism to help cleaning the organic pollution. The control of soil erosion and loss of organic matter has been proposed as critical to agricultural and environmental sustainability of Northeast China. The action of freeze-thaw is one of the important influence factors which can cause the changes of soil physicochemical and biological characteristics. During the freeze-thaw period the variations of active organic matters in cropland black soil were studied through the in-situ monitoring and determining methods. The surface soil experienced a series of repeated freeze-thaw actions during the alternate from autumn to winter and from winter to spring. The soil active organic matter was in the trend of fluctuation increase from 8.68 mg kg-1to 9.81 mg kg-1 during the seasonal freeze-thaw period.
