Individual rooted cuttings of each cultivar were transferred from a standard 1/5 Hoagland's solution into solutions containing one of six P concentrations (0.05,0.1,0.22,0.5,1.1 and 2.3mg/l). An optical fiber solution-concentration sensor based on whispering gallery mode (WGM) is proposed in this paper. The WGM solution-concentration sensors were used to measure salt solutions, in which the concentrations ranged from 1% to 25% and the wavelength drifted from the left to the right. The experimental results showed an average sensitivity of approximately 0.372 nm/% and anR2linearity of 0.8835. The proposed WGM sensors are of low cost, feasible for mass production, and durable for solution-concentration sensing.

It also attempts to correlate both thermodynamic parameters and kinetic parameters with the inhibition effect. The inhibition efficiencies of xylenol orange are investigated by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. A laboratory study of “runaway iron increases” investigated the cause and the best mitigation methods. Waste chelant solutions with high iron concentrations require extra treatment steps unless evaporation is used for waste disposal.
