The Edinburgh-Cape Blue Object Survey (Stobie et al. 1997a) is a southern hemisphere survey to discover hot, blue stellar objects brighter than B=18 at galactic latitudes more than 30° from the galactic plane. The main categories of object detected are hot subdwarfs, white dwarfs, blue horizontal branch stars, apparently normal B stars, cataclysmic variables and (stellar-like) active galactic nuclei. Over 50% of the EC Survey comprises hot subdwarfs.

The work is devoted to determining the stellar magnitudes of candidates for comparison stars for Lacertae 3C 371 in the standard Johnson-Cousins photometric system. The brightness of 12 stars located within 10' distance from the object was measured. The obtained standard stellar magnitudes in bands B, V, Rc, Ic are given. The selected stars have a wide range of color indicators and can be used to study the photometric variability of object 3C 371 in various phases of its activity.

A method for speckle spectroscopy under atmospheric turbulence is described. A stellar speckle image and its dispersed speckle image are observed simultaneously. An object is reconstructed from speckle images, and its spectrum is reconstructed from dispersed speckle images referring to their speckle images. The shift-and-add reconstruction method is discussed in comparison with ballistic light imaging. Several observational results show that stellar spectroscopy with high-spatial resolution is feasible even under atmospheric turbulence.

This report characterizes night sky conditions in Dinosaur National Monument (DINO) using measurements made in the park unit and models of regional conditions based on satellite data. Calibrated night sky imagery was obtained to characterize the night sky at 4 sites. These ground-based observations were collected on 4 nights from July 15, 2009 to June 13, 2012.
