Abstract Modern basketball game is becoming more and more physical, and coaches have reoriented their view on building strong athletes with speed, strength, and accuracy. Jumping ability is used in many moves in basketball, from rebounding, defending, jump shoot, blocking till interception and offensive game. The vertical jump is the primary and essential skill in the jumping ability of a basketball player. Our research focused on the result of a questionnaire with 20 respondents that were coaches at different levels regarding the importance of vertical jump in the basketball game. The conclusions highlighted that vertical jump is considered necessary also for small players (point guard, shooting guard) and tall players (short forward, power forward, center), with emphasis on small players who have to compensate for their height with an excellent vertical jump; also the contribution of coordination and endurance, nutrition and appropriate rest periods can contribute decisively to the jumping ability. Also, between the methods of developing vertical jump was underlined the plyometric and circuit training.

Ground reaction forces (GRF) are associated with bone hypertrophy; therefore, they are important to understanding physical activity’s role in children’s bone health. In this study, we examined the ability of accelerometry to predict vertical GRF in 40 children (mean age 8.6 yr) during slow walking, brisk walking, running, and jumping. Correlation coefficients between accelerometry-derived movement counts and GRF were moderate to high and significant during walking and running, but not during jumping. Given a large proportion of children’s daily physical activity involves ambulation, accelerometry should be useful as a research method in bone-related research. However, this method underestimates GRF during jumping, an important physical activity for bone modeling and remodeling.

A bioinspired jumping robot has a strong ability to overcome obstacles. It can be applied to the occasion with complex and changeable environment, such as detection of planet surface, postdisaster relief, and military reconnaissance. So the bioinspired jumping robot has broad application prospect. The jumping process of the robot can be divided into three stages: takeoff, air posture adjustment, and landing buffer. The motivation of this review is to investigate the research results of the most published bioinspired jumping robots for these three stages. Then, the movement performance of the bioinspired jumping robots is analyzed and compared quantitatively. Then, the limitation of the research on bioinspired jumping robots is discussed, such as the research on the mechanism of biological motion is not thorough enough, the research method about structural design, material applications, and control are still traditional, and energy utilization is low, which make the robots far from practical applications. Finally, the development trend is summarized. This review provides a reference for further research of bioinspired jumping robots.

ABSTRACT Introduction The research on the exercise effect on the human bone density and skeletal muscle content mainly focuses on the middle-aged and elderly population. However, few studies on different sports’ effects upon bone and muscle density in college students and adolescents. Objective Study the effect of physical training on bone density and lower limb jumping ability in young people. Methods The relationship between bone mineral density and lower limb jumping ability was analyzed by mathematical statistics. Male individuals aged 10-20 years were divided into the early adolescence group (n=26) and late adolescence group (n=37). According to training status, they were divided into preadolescent athletic group (n=11), non-athletic group (n=15); puberty athletic group (n=11) and non-athletic group (n=15). The following indicators were used: bone density, vertical jump test, continuous vertical jump test, RDJ index. Results Athletes’ bone mineral density (BMD) is related to their muscle strength. These results suggest a certain internal connection between the (BMD) of bone tissue and the development of muscle strength. Therefore, there is evidence of differences in lower limb bone mineral density and jumping ability between the two groups. Conclusion Bone mineral density in the lower limbs of adolescents is correlated with jumping ability. Exercise can help improve bone density in adolescents. Evidence level II; Therapeutic Studies - Investigating the results.

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the motor ability levels of the preschool children. The sampling of the study consisted of 46 children (22 girls, 24 boys) between the ages of 5-6. Kindergarten Mobile Test (KiMo) was used in determining the motor ability levels of the children. The test consisted of 5 subtests. These were; the shuttle run, standing long jump, one leg stand, flexibility and lateral jumping. Descriptive statistics were used to identify the average, frequency and percentage distributions regarding the motor abilities of the children. The children achieved average and below-average scores at all age groups in the shuttle run, standing long jump, one leg stand, flexibility and lateral jumping and they were incompetent in coordination, endurance and speed as basic motor abilities. As a result, it was determined that the motor abilities of the preschool children were low as of the early years. Performing activities that involve motor abilities inside and outside the school for the preschool children, who spend most of the day in narrow locations with limited movement areas, would support their healthy development in physical, mental and social terms.

Actions performed by volleyball players during playing and training activities include a large number of jumps, starts and accelerations that are performed from various starting positions. Therefore, modern volleyball implies the athlete to reach a new level of development of physical qualities, for which changes in training of volleyball players are necessary, which will be aimed at achieving maximum results in the game. The purpose of the study was to optimize the training process aimed at education of jumping in volleyball players. In the course of the study we solved the following tasks: 1) develop a classification of jumps, found in the game process of volleyball and to determine physical qualities on which the manifestation of jumping depends; 2) perform jumper testing; 3) on the basis of the obtained data to develop a methodology of education of jumping of volleyball players and during pedagogical experiment to check its effectiveness. The main methods of research were: analysis of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical observation of performance of various jumps in conditions of competitions; questioning; testing of spring ability; pedagogical experiment; methods of mathematical statistics. We identified the most common types of jumping performed by volleyball players under playing conditions and tested at the beginning and end of the preparatory period. We focused the tests at measuring the jumper. After the first testing, based on the obtained data, we developed a method of education of jumping, based on classification of jumps and importance of physical qualities for its manifestation. The results of the second test revealed a reliable increase in all the proposed tests, and in the experimental group it is more pronounced, which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

The hind, or metathoracic, leg of a locust is specialised, enabling it to store energy that is used to extend the tibia rapidly during kicking and jumping; behaviours which share a common motor pattern. This study describes developmental changes in kicking and jumping behaviour and relates these changes to the development of the exoskeleton and jumping performance. In mature adults and intermoult larvae, the exoskeleton is strong and kicks can readily be elicited. Before and after the adult moult, when the exoskeleton is weak, kicks can be elicited less frequently, thus avoiding skeletal damage. At these times, animals do not generate the adult motor pattern for kicking, so that extension of the tibia is powered by direct muscle contraction, rather than through the release of stored energy. The muscles of all newly moulted animals are capable of generating sufficient force to damage the leg, but 14 days later the muscles can rarely generate sufficient force to damage the leg. To mimic the forces generated during the preparation for a kick, when the flexor and extensor tibiae muscles co-contract, the extensor muscle was stimulated electrically at a range of frequencies and the nature and occurrence of the resulting mechanical damage to components of the skeleton were assessed over a 14 day period following the adult moult. In newly moulted animals, the proximal femur partially collapses and thus protects the leg from damage before the muscles generate sufficient force to damage chronically other components of the leg. This partial collapse of the femur is reversible when the extensor muscle is activated at low frequency, but high frequencies cause permanent damage. The muscles of all animals 1 day after the moult are also capable of generating sufficient force to damage the leg, but the proximal tibia breaks most commonly in the region where the extensor muscle apodeme attaches. 5 days after the moult, the muscles in only 50 % of animals can damage the leg and most commonly the extensor muscle apodeme breaks. In mature animals, the only structure that fails is the extensor muscle apodeme, which fractures close to its point of attachment to the tibia. Damaging a metathoracic leg can significantly decrease the ability of a locust to jump and to compete for mates. Changes in the likelihood of damage to a metathoracic leg occur at predictable stages of development. Locust behaviour is modified during development, avoiding such damage.

Traditional approaches to the biomechanical analysis of movement are joint-based; that is the mechanics of the body are described in terms of the forces and moments acting at the joints, and that muscular forces are considered to create moments about the joints. We have recently shown that segment-based approaches, where the mechanics of the body are described by considering the effect of the muscle, ligament and joint contact forces on the segments themselves, can also prove insightful. We have also previously described a simultaneous, optimization-based, musculoskeletal model of the lower limb. However, this prior model incorporates both joint- and segment-based assumptions. The purpose of this study was therefore to develop an entirely segment-based model of the lower limb and to compare its performance to our previous work. The segment-based model was used to estimate the muscle forces found during vertical jumping, which were in turn compared with the muscular activations that have been found in vertical jumping, by using a Geers' metric to quantify the magnitude and phase errors. The segment-based model was shown to have a similar ability to estimate muscle forces as a model based upon our previous work. In the future, we will evaluate the ability of the segment-based model to be used to provide results with clinical relevance, and compare its performance to joint-based approaches. The segment-based model described in this article is publicly available as a GUI-based M atlab ® application and in the original source code (at www.msksoftware.org.uk ).

Background: The purpose of the current study was to investigate: (1) differences between three types of countermovement jumps (CMJ), (2) development of lower-body strength during training periods, and (3) relationship between 200m personal best results and jumping ability in sprinters. Material and methods: A total of 14 male sprinters from local university academic sport club participated in the study. Athletes performed three variants of CMJ: with arm swing (AS), without AS, and from a maximal squat position. We took measures two times: during the active rest period and the final phase of the preparatory period. For measurements the Optojump photoelectric cell system was used. Statistical significance was set at p ≤ 0.05. Results: Effect of the training period and jump variant was shown on all jump parameters (height, total energy, and specific energy; p<0.001). Personal best 200m time was significantly correlated only with total energy in both training periods in all jump variants. Conclusions: According to the results obtained in this study, we conclude that: (1) jumping parameters depends on CMJ variants, (2) jumping abilities improved during sprinter training, (3) 200m-sprint PB are related to total energy, but not with specific energy and jump height.

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a motor disability disorder that most commonly occurs in children so that sufferers are unable to perform functional activities independently and need special service. Aquatic therapy and neuro developmental are interventions of physical therapy to help improve the motor functional development ability. The purpose of research is to find out the difference between aquatic therapy and neuro developmental treatment on the motor functional development ability of children with cerebral palsy. The type of research is quasi-experimental research with a pretest and posttest design. The subject of the research is the cerebral palsy community in Yogyakarta, namely Wahana Keluarga Cerebral Palsy (WKCP). The mann-whitney test use to test the hypothesis statistically. The results are difference in influence from aquatic therapy and neuro developmental treatment on the motor functional development ability of children with cerebral palsy, especially in the dimension of sitting, crawling and kneeling, standing, walking, running and jumping, and not for dimension of supine and prone. The conclusion is aquatic exercise is more influential on the motor functional development ability of children with cerebral palsy compared to neuro developmental treatment.

Sleeping Beauty (SB) is a transposon system that has been widely used as a genetic engineering tool. Central to the development of any transposon as a research tool is the ability to integrate a foreign piece of DNA into the cellular genome. Driven by the need for efficient transposon-based gene vector systems, extensive studies have largely elucidated the molecular actors and actions taking place during SB transposition. Close transposon relatives and other recombination enzymes, including retroviral integrases, have served as useful models to infer functional information relevant to SB. Recently obtained structural data on the SB transposase enable a direct insight into the workings of this enzyme. These efforts cumulatively allowed the development of novel variants of SB that offer advanced possibilities for genetic engineering due to their hyperactivity, integration deficiency, or targeting capacity. However, many aspects of the process of transposition remain poorly understood and require further investigation. We anticipate that continued investigations into the structure–function relationships of SB transposition will enable the development of new generations of transposition-based vector systems, thereby facilitating the use of SB in preclinical studies and clinical trials.

The relevance of the study is the need to find ways to effectively develop coordination abilities among children of primary school age with mental retardation. In this study we develop and test the method of developing coordination abilities among children of primary school age with mental retardation on the basis of an integrated approach that takes into account the types of formation stages of coordination abilities, hierarchy, consistency and parallel development of their types. Attention is drawn to the methodology implementation features among children of primary school age with mental retardation. We present the coordination abilities dynamics development in the implementation of the methodology in terms of defining: the ability to arbitrary relaxation (A.A. Artemenkov, N.I. Sapozhnikov), the ability to the preservation and maintenance of static balance (Romberg's test), dynamic balance (Turnings on gymnastic bench, P. Factors such as temperature, habitat, larval density, food availability and food quality substantially affect organismal development. In addition, risk of predation has a complex impact on the behavioural and morphological life history responses of prey. Responses to predation risk seem to be mediated by physiological stress, which is an adaptation for maintaining homeostasis and improving survivorship during life-threatening situations. We tested whether predator exposure during the larval phase of development has any influence on body elemental composition, energy reserves, body size, climbing speed and survival ability of adultDrosophila melanogaster. Fruit fly larvae were exposed to predation by jumping spiders (Phidippus apacheanus), and the percentage of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) content, extracted lipids, escape response and survival were measured from predator-exposed and control adult flies. The results revealed predation as an important determinant of adult phenotype formation and survival ability.D. melanogasterreared together with spiders had a higher concentration of body N (but equal body C), a lower body mass and lipid reserves, a higher climbing speed and improved adult survival ability. The results suggest that the potential of predators to affect the development and the adult phenotype ofD. melanogasteris high enough to use predators as a more natural stimulus in laboratory experiments when testing, for example, fruit fly memory and learning ability, or when comparing natural populations living under different predation pressures.

Kicking ability in soccer has been evaluated predominantly by the maximum ball velocity. The kicking deficit (KD) may be defined as the percentage of the difference between the maximum ball velocity each player achieved by the non-preferred leg kick in relation to the preferred leg kick. This study aimed to compare: side-to-side kicking velocity, vertical jumps and anthropometrics between the younger (G-14) and older (G+14) than 14 years soccer players. An additional aim was to investigate associations among these variables. Participants were 92 young elite soccer players from the development programme of a top Spanish division club. They were divided into two age groups according to their growth and motor development stages (10.80-13.55 years, n=46; 14.02-16.39 years, n=46). Student’s t-test showed that the maximum kicking velocity with the preferred and non-preferred leg, jumping performance, and all anthropometric measurements were significantly (p<.01) higher in G+14 compared with G-14. In contrast, KD values remained stable (15.31%- 15.83%) without significant differences between the groups. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed that vertical jump tests and anthropometric measurements correlated with kicking ball velocity produced by the preferred and non-preferred leg. Our results demonstrate that kicking skills are still not consolidated and power factors may be determinant for kicking performance in young soccer players. In addition, the KD may be a constant element for both the under and above 14 years soccer players and could result from an unequal and greater use of the preferred leg in comparison with the non-preferred leg.

Gross motoric ability is one aspect of development carried out in early childhood. Kindergarten learning program is a whole unit that is developed through themes and sub-themes in the process of interacting with kindergarten children at learning resources by playing in the game environment or better known as the area or center. The increase in gross motoric skills of kindergarten children is generally carried out outside the classroom with the development of learning programs according to the curriculum that must be developed according to the level of achievement of children from one stage to the next stage through a game. This study aims to improve the Gross Motoric Ability of Early Childhood through Traditional Games in Group B of Silmi Samarinda Islamic Kindergarten. This research was conducted in Group B of TKIslam Silmi Samarinda. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR), carried out three times in one cycle with four stages: (1) Planning, (2) actions, (3) observations and (4) reflection. The research subjects were 20 students aged 5-6 years. The research data was obtained from the collection of instruments through observation, field notes and documentation. The results of the study increased the gross motoric skills of children after analyzing the data on four aspects of assessment, namely; jumping, body balance, agility, and flexibility seen these four aspects have different levels of difficulty where the aspects of jumping and body balance as a whole are able to do so, while the aspects of agility and flexibility of most children have a low ability. But the overall gross motor skills of the children in the pre-study reached 64%, the first cycle reached 70%, the second cycle reached 801% and the third cycle 90%. Traditional game method is a very appropriate method applied in increasing gross motor skills of children aged 5-6 years or group B.

This review summarizes the research relating anaerobic function to growth among children and adolescents. Pediatric practitioners and scientists are always struck by the impressive accumulation of results relating to the cardiopulmonary system. However, anaerobic fitness has received much less research attention. This is surprising, considering that high-intensity exercises lasting only a few seconds is a more “natural” pattern during growth than prolonged low-intensity exercises. In anaerobic tasks or sport events such as sprint running, sprint swimming, sprint cycling, jumping, or throwing, the child’s performance is distinctly lower than that of the adult. This partly reflects the child’s lesser ability to generate mechanical energy from chemical energy sources during short-term intensive work or exercise. Because both intramuscular high energy phosphate kinetics and muscle cross-section vary during growth and maturation, this review examines some developmental aspects of energetic- and mechanical factors involved in anaerobic performance. Anaerobic muscle function and performance are quantitative traits influenced by several determinants such as genetic factors, age and gender, muscle fiber characteristics, hormonal and training factors. Because of ethical and methodological constraints when investigating healthy children, this review also includes fundamental work done on some animal models.

Change of direction (COD) ability is essential for sport performance in high level team sports such as basketball, however, the influence of asymmetries on COD ability is relatively unknown. Forty-three junior and senior level elite basketball players performed isometric hip and trunk strength testing, passive hip and trunk range of motion testing, and unilateral horizontal and vertical jumps, as well as the T-test to measure COD performance. Mean asymmetry values ranged from 0.76% for functional leg length up to 40.35% for rate of torque development during hip flexion. A six-variable regression model explained 48% (R2 = 0.48; p < 0.001) of variation in COD performance. The model included left hip internal/external rotation strength ratio, and inter-limb asymmetries in hip abduction rate of torque development, hip flexion range of motion, functional leg length, single leg triple jump distance, and peak torque during trunk lateral flexion. Results suggest that the magnitude of asymmetries is dependent of task and parameter, and using universal asymmetry thresholds, such as <10 %, is not optimal. The regression model showed the relationship between asymmetries and COD performance. None of tests were sufficient to explain a complex variable like COD performance.

An improved squirrel search algorithm (ISSA) is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm contains two searching methods, one is the jumping search method, and the other is the progressive search method. The practical method used in the evolutionary process is selected automatically through the linear regression selection strategy, which enhances the robustness of squirrel search algorithm (SSA). For the jumping search method, the ‘escape’ operation develops the search space sufficiently and the ‘death’ operation further explores the developed space, which balances the development and exploration ability of SSA. Concerning the progressive search method, the mutation operation fully preserves the current evolutionary information and pays more attention to maintain the population diversity. Twenty-one benchmark functions are selected to test the performance of ISSA. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the convergence accuracy, accelerate the convergence speed as well as maintain the population diversity. The statistical test proves that ISSA has significant advantages compared with SSA. Furthermore, compared with five other intelligence evolutionary algorithms, the experimental results and statistical tests also show that ISSA has obvious advantages on convergence accuracy, convergence speed and robustness.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of an accentuated eccentric load on subsequent concentric kinetic factors and block jumping performance in elite male volleyball players. Eleven male volleyball high-performance players (18.9 ± 2.6 years, 203.6 ± 5.6 cm, 91.4 ± 8.2 kg), who were training full time with the national team development squad, participated in this within-subject, counter-balanced study. One half of the subjects performed the block jumps (BJ), followed by a 20 kg accentuated eccentric load block jump (AEBJ) condition, whilst the other half of the subject pool performed the testing in the reverse sequence. Superior jump heights (4.3%) and kinetic and kinematic enhancements (9.4, 3.9, 3.1% for peak power, peak force, and peak velocity respectively) were observed in the AEBJ condition compared to the BJ condition, with no order effect observed. The differences between conditions were statistically significant (p < 0.05), with moderate magnitudes (ES = 0.1–0.4). The results of this study demonstrate that an accentuated eccentric load evokes acute increases in vertical jump height, as well as in the kinetic and kinematic variables that are considered important to vertical jumping ability (force, velocity and power)

Age 0 - 8 years is the golden age. In this age the child's brain is like a sponge, which is all things that are seen, heard, and felt by children absorbed well by the child. Therefore at this time the child must get the right stimulation in every aspect of his development. One aspect that must be stimulated is gross motoric. This aspect relates to the child's ability to move the large parts of his body, such as the hands and feet. Some activities that can be given to children related to gross motoric skills are jumping, walking, running, and throwing a ball. The disruption of the development of gross motoric aspects in children can affect the development to other aspects. Therefore, the gross motoric aspect must be the one of teachers and parents' concerns as a result the child's development tasks can be achieved according to his age.

Abstract Introduction. The objective of the research was to assess the level of physical development and motor skills of six-yearold children from the Lublin voivodeship against the Polish population. Material and methods. The study included 2144 children, 997 girls and 1134 boys. To assess the level of physical fitness, selected, exercises from the EUROFIT test were used. In addition, children's ability to demonstrate simple motor skills during physical play and games was also assessed. The assessment involved: throwing a bag with the right hand, throwing a ball with both hands, gripping a bag with the right hand, kicking a ball with the right foot, jumping on the right leg and jumping with both feet. In addition, coordination during the exercises was evaluated. For measurement purposes, a four-point scale was used. The reference point was children from a nationwide sample. The results were statistically analyzed using the Student T-test and the nonparametric chi-square test. Results. Children from the Lublin region differ significantly in their level of physical fitness from children of the same age throughout Poland (p≤0.001). They achieved significantly lower results in tests assessing the strength of their arms, abdominal muscles and, the explosive strength of their lower limbs and in two tests evaluating speed (running speed: p≤0.001, hand movement speed: p≤0.001). Only in the test of their sense of balance, did both sexes, obtain significantly better results (p≤0.001). In addition, in the opinion of physical education teachers, children in the Lublin region exhibited significantly lower levels of skill when performing motor tasks. Conclusions. The results suggest that the motor potential of preschool children is being neglected, which seems to be indirectly caused by different factors in the external environment.

AIM: This study aims to provide another alternative for physical education teachers in measuring the physical fitness of high school students by measuring the tests of jumping, push-ups, and sit-ups and determining the correlation between the three activities as a condition for determining physical fitness. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The random sampling method used to select respondents, and as a result, as many as fifty-two students chose as respondents. The device included a leaping test, push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2400 m run test. RESULTS: The results showed that the validity coefficient between X1 and Y is r = −0.352. The push-up meets the requirement to measure the endurance of blood circulation and breathing with the acquisition of r = −0.007. Sit-ups measured the endurance of blood circulation and respiration with the acquisition of r = −0.164. The relationship between the combined degree of ability X1, X2, and X3 with a run of 2400 m obtained r = 0.47. The reliability coefficient for X1 was r = 0.82, X2 was r = 0.83, and X3 was r = 0.85. CONCLUSION: It concluded that the jump test, push-ups, and sit-ups together could be used as another alternative to measure high school students’ physical fitness through facilities and infrastructure compared to the 2400 m running test.

Equestrian sports are considered high in risk, and successful athletes must achieve resilience to recover from adversities inherent to their riding career. The objective of this study is to identify which factors present in show jumping riders are related to resilient abilities, and how they may be improved. 101 British competitive show jumping riders were asked to complete a questionnaire about their riding experience and to respond to two tests: (1) test of performance strategies (TOPS 3), which analyses the use of self-talk, emotional control, automaticity, goal setting, imagery, activation, relaxation, negative thinking and attention control; and (2) Connor-Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC-10), which evaluates resilient abilities. Where available, competition results were also analysed. Resilience scores had positive correlations with ‘emotional control’ (r=0.518; P<0.001), and ‘emotional control’ had a positive predictive effect on resilience (χ2=8.508; P<0.005). There were indications of positive correlations between resilience and ‘activation’ (r=0.497; P<0.001), ‘automaticity’ (r=0.437; P<0.001), and of a negative correlation between resilience and ‘negative thinking’ (r=-0.416; P<0.001). Overall CD-RISC-10 mean value was 29.96. ‘Activation’ and ‘automaticity’ were more applicable for riders of higher perceived levels of skill. Responses suggest that ‘activation’ was employed more frequently by male than female riders (Z=-2.118; P<0.05), and that ‘negative thinking’ was more frequent in female than male riders (Z=-1.969; P<0.05). More significant correlations between performance strategies were found in professional (19) than in novice riders (5). Results indicate that the use of performance strategies may be beneficial in the development of resilience. In higher level riders, the development of one set of strategies tends to lead to the development of other strategies. The findings support that the ability to recover successfully from adversities may not be merely inherent, but also under individual control.

Improving the ability to jump is a major training goal for many sports, and drop jump is the well-known training method used to achieve this improvement. The players in team games should be thrown higher than his or her opponent, and this jump should be executed faster than the opponent's jump. Volleyball - Basketball from the specificity of their training, there are differences in the physical qualities of individual and team sports performance, where one of the elements is vertical jumping in training the plyometric. This study is concentrated on two teams: Women’s Volleyball Team (V) and Women’s Basketball Team (B) 15 members each, focusing on 30 subjects. Players were measured in physical parameters; Age (V-24: B-27), Body Height (V-180.4cm; B-173.4cm), Body Weight (V-70.37kg; B-63.88kg), BMI (V-21.67 percent; B-20.93 percent). The players performed the test DJ 40cm and DJ60cm in the platform Leonardo® Ground Force Reaction Plate (GRFP) which expresses Force max (kN), Power max (w/kg), Time Contact (TCs), Air Time (TAs), TA/TCs. Results obtained by GRFP showed different team values of the two sports in the parameters of test from DJ40 cm and DJ 60cm. The TA/TC show V1.89-B1.85 in DJ40 test and TA/TC in DJ60 V1.96-B1.71. The results showed statistically significant improvement with respect to F max (kN), F max (kg N) and power (kg W) at the level of p = 0.05. Conclusion; The methodology used helps us to compare high and poor performances, which help trainers to program a more detailed plyometric training for the development of athletes' jumping ability. Through the Drop Jump test it can be achieved to be evaluated not only by the height of the development of vertical jump but also by the phase of stay in the air. Through value comparisons, between tests and sports, trainers can develop programmed plyometric.

Bandura (1977) has suggested that self-observation, or visual feedback, is an important part of the modeling process because the learner uses it to make correct movements. This research was designed to test Bandura's hypothesis as applied to young children. Primary-grade children ( N = 117) learned two different motor tasks, balancing on a stabilometer and jumping a horizontally rotating bar. They performed 15 and 9 trials, respectively, of the tasks under different feedback conditions. Children in the experimental conditions viewed a videotape of their own performance periodically during learning. A three factor (Sex × Condition × Trial Block, 2 × 4 × 3) repeated-measures analysis of variance was applied to performance data. The two major findings extended Bandura's hypothesis to children's observational motor learning. The temporal placement of visual feedback was important during stability learning. The children who viewed their own performance later in learning were able to make subsequent corrections of movement whereas children in the other visual feedback groups did not improve after the initial block of practice trials. The availability of component responses influenced the young boys' ability to reproduce the jumping task. They were unable to anticipate the rotation of the bar even after extensive practice with visual feedback. In conclusion, this investigation suggested that Bandura's hypothesis that self-observation is important may be generalized to children's observational learning of a stability task. Additional research is needed to document the modeling processes during motor development.

Purpose:The authors conducted a study to develop a repeated-effort test for international men’s volleyball. The test involved jumping and movement activity that was specific to volleyball, using durations and rest periods that replicated the demands of a match. Methods:A time–motion analysis was performed on a national team and development national team during international matches to determine the demands of competition and thereby form the basis of the rationale in designing the repeated-effort test. An evaluation of the test for reliability and validity in discriminating between elite and sub-elite players was performed. Results:The test jump height and movement-speed test parameters were highly reliable, with findings of high intraclass correlations (ICCs) and low typical errors of measurement (TE; ICC .93 to .95 and %TE 0.54 to 2.44). The national team’s ideal and actual jump height and ideal and actual speeds, mean ± SD, were 336.88 ± 8.31 cm, 329.91 ± 6.70 cm, 6.83 ± 0.34 s, and 7.14 ± 0.34 s, respectively. The development national team’s ideal and actual jump heights and ideal and actual speeds were 330.88 ± 9.09 cm, 323.80 ± 7.74 cm, 7.41 ± 0.56 s, and 7.66 ± 0.56 s, respectively. Probabilities of differences between groups for ideal jump, actual jump, ideal time, and actual time were 82%, 95%, 92%, and 96%, respectively, with a Cohen effect-size statistic supporting large magnitudes (0.69, 0.84, 1.34, and 1.13, respectively). Conclusion:The results of this study demonstrate that the developed test offers a reliable and valid method of assessing repeated-effort ability in volleyball players.

Prostate cancer (PCa) has remarkably emerged as a prominent disease in the face of the male population. Conventional treatments like prostatectomy or radiation can be curative only if PCa is diagnosed at an early stage. In the field of targeted therapy, a bevy of novel therapeutic approaches have left a landmark in PCa treatment and have proven to extend survival via distinct modes of actions. Nanotherapy has started to take root and has become the hype of the century by virtue of its abundant advantages. Scientists have invested a great deal of interest in the development of nanostructures such as gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), which hold particularly great hope for PCa theranostics. In this article, we present an overview of the studies published after 1998 that involve the use of different functionalized AuNPs to treat and diagnose PCa. Special reference is given to various in vitro and in vivo methods employed to shuttle AuNPs to PCa cells. Major studies show an enhancement of either detection or treatment of PCa when compared to their non-targeted counterparts, especially when AuNPs are tagged with specific ligands, such as antibodies, tea natural extracts, folate, anisamide, receptor inhibitors, and chitosan. Future approaches of treatment are dependent on those worthy multifunctional molecules, and are dictated by their ability to achieve a more versatile cancer therapeutic approach.

Physical training of student youth, along with improving the elements of football technique, the ability to properly perform technical and tactical actions and show a certain result, is one of the most important components of the educational process. Insufficient level of physical fitness of students, namely, speed and strength abilities, speed endurance, which does not allow to effectively realize their own potential in football lessons. The article analyzes the effectiveness of the use of physical exercises aimed at mastering the elements of game technique, as well as the development and improvement of motor skills that activate the various systems and functions of the student's body. All second- and third- year students had the same level of preparation at the time of the study and studied with one trainer. Accordingly, the number of training sessions and their conditions were the same for all subjects. During the study, a set of tools and methods was used to develop motor skills of students aged 18-19 exercises. Changes in indicators of physical and technical readiness of students were studied. For a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the use of the method, tests were selected to assess the level of development of motor skills. The following tests were used: running 10 meters from a low start, running 30 meters from a high start, jumping up from a place, shuttle running 7x50 m, long-range soccer ball shots, precision soccer ball shots. It is proved that the results of the test of the impact of a soccer ball on the accuracy of 61.1% increased the most significantly. The long-range test of the soccer ball improved by 15.5%. According to the jump-up test, the results were better by 11.6%. This is due to the fact that they used special preparatory exercises. The lowest growth rate of results was established by the results of the test "Running 30m - 8%. The obtained results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method of football, which has a positive effect on the body of student youth aged 18-19 years.

The purpose of this study was to describe the teaching behaviors of four teachers who had varying degrees of expertise in working with second grade students and to improve the teachers’ effectiveness. Four experienced teachers were asked to teach a six-lesson unit in jumping and landing skills to an intact class of their choice. Students were pre- and posttested on their ability to produce and reduce force using a force platform and a jump for distance without the platform. OSCD-PE (Rink, 1979) was used to describe the more general aspects of the teachers’ content development and managerial skills. Task presentation, nature of feedback, and appropriateness of student responses were obtained using the QMTPS (Rink & Werner, 1989). Additional information was obtained by counting practice trials and analyzing teacher written plans and approaches to content. Following the first teaching experience, the researchers gave feedback to the teachers and asked them to reteach the unit to a different class. Product and process measures were obtained in the same manner on the second teaching experience. Data were presented in a case study format. The results describe the importance of content knowledge, the ability to present information clearly, and holding students accountable for selected performance aspects.

We hypothesized that IGF1R-aAb may be related to muscle development. Serum samples (n = 408) from young overweight subjects (n = 143) were collected during a lifestyle intervention study. Anthropometric parameters, along with leptin, IGF1 and IGF1R-aAb concentrations, were analyzed, and the subjects were categorized into positive or negative for IGF1R-aAb. Eleven out of 143 subjects (7.7%) were positive for IGF1R-aAb. Identified IGF1R-aAb were molecularly characterized and showed antagonistic activity in vitro impairing IGF1-mediated IGF1R activation. Mean body weight, height or age were similar between IGF1R-aAb-positive and -negative subjects, but IGF1 concentrations differed. Jumping ability, as well as right and left handgrip strengths, were lower in the IGF1R-aAb-positive as compared to the IGF1R-aAb-negative subjects. We conclude that natural IGF1R-aAb are detectable in apparently healthy subjects and are capable of antagonizing IGF1-dependent IGF1R activation. Moreover, the presence of IGF1R-aAb is associated with poor physical strength. Although the causality of this association is unclear, the data imply a potential influence of IGF1R autoimmunity on muscle development.

This study explored the relationship between motor abilities and accelerometer-derived measures of physical activity (PA) within preschool-aged children. A total of 193 children (101 girls, 4.2 ± 0.7 years) completed five tests to assess motor abilities, shuttle run (SR), standing long jump, lateral jumping, one-leg stand, and sit and reach. Four PA variables derived from 7-day wrist-worn GENEActiv accelerometers were analyzed including moderate to vigorous PA (in minutes), total PA (in minutes), percentage of total PA time in moderate to vigorous PA, and whether or not children met World Health Organization guidelines for PA. Linear regressions were conducted to explore associations between each PA variable (predictor) and motor ability (outcome). Models were adjusted for age, sex, height, parental education, time spent at sports clubs, and wear time. Models with percentage of total PA time in moderate to vigorous PA were adjusted for percentage of total PA time. Regression analyses indicated that no PA variables were associated with any of the motor abilities, but demographic factors such as age (e.g., SR: ß = −0.45; 95% confidence interval [−1.64, −0.66]), parental education (e.g., SR: ß = 0.25; 95% confidence interval [0.11, 1.87]), or sports club time (e.g., SR: ß = −0.08; 95% confidence interval [−0.98, 0.26]) showed substantial associations with motor abilities. Model strength varied depending on the PA variable and motor ability entered. Results demonstrate that total PA and meeting current PA guidelines may be of importance for motor ability development and should be investigated further. Other covariates showed stronger associations with motor abilities such as time spent at sports clubs and should be investigated in longitudinal settings to assess the associations with individual motor abilities.

The current study aimed to investigate the performance characteristics that discriminate Australian youth soccer players according to their academy status. A total of 165 youth soccer players participated in this study and were sub-divided into either an early adolescence ( n = 92, age = 13.0 ± 0.6 years) or mid-adolescence ( n = 73 age = 14.8 ± 0.6 years) group. Players completed multifactorial assessments of anthropometry, motor competence, physical fitness, decision-making and psychological traits. Statistical significance was set at p ≤ 0.05. Multivariate analysis of variance identified dynamic balancing ability (both age groups), object manipulation (mid-adolescence), lateral jumping ability (both age groups), linear speed over 5 m (both age groups), change of direction skill (mid-adolescence), intermittent aerobic endurance (mid-adolescence) and total response time on a decision-making assessment (early adolescence) to discriminate academy status. Interestingly, a binomial logistical regression showed that a 0.1 s decrease in sprint time (i.e. running faster) increased the odds of a player belonging to a tier one academy by 19% and 47% for early and mid-adolescent players, respectively. Overall, performance in the motor competence and physical fitness assessments were in favour of the tier one academy players. These findings are indicative of a potential selection bias in the Australian talent pool or a training effect whereby tier one academy programmes emphasise the development of physical attributes. However, future research is required to further substantiate this in a larger sample of youth soccer players from other playing regions within Australia.

Summary Study aim: Physical activity is crucial for a child’s development, as well as for the development of the foot. The aim of this study was to assess the correlation of the level of physical activity and physical fitness with the arches of the foot in children in non-weight-bearing and weight-bearing conditions.Material and methods: The study population consisted of 92 children aged 10 to 14 years. We assessed their physical fitness with a modified Zuchora test. The modification consisted in choosing three (speed, jumping ability, and flexibility) out of a total of six trials. To assess the physical activity, we used a screening test - the anonymous Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity questionnaire. To analyze the arches of the foot, we used computer equipment based on the Moiré projection method. Results: Pearson’s chi-squared test did not reveal any significant correlation between physical activity, physical fitness, and longitudinal and transversal arches in children. The percentage of normal and high foot arches increased with increasing levels of physical activity and physical fitness. A Wilcoxon signed-rank test analysis confirmed a statistically significant difference (with p < 0.001) in the longitudinal and transversal arches in measurements in non-weight-bearing and weight-bearing conditions. Conclusions: 1. In the examined group, there were functional lateral and longitudinal flat feet. 2. A lowered longitudinal arch foot might reduce physical activity and fitness in adolescents.

Intellectual disability is a term used when there are limits to a person’s ability to learn at an expected level and function in daily life. Levels of intellectual disability vary greatly in children. Children with intellectual disability might have a hard time letting others know their wants and needs, and taking care of themselves. Intellectual disability could cause a child to learn and develop more slowly than other children of the same age. It could take longer for a child with intellectual disability to learn to speak, walk, dress, or eat without help, and they could have trouble learning in school. Intellectual disability can be caused by a problem that starts any time before a child turns 18 years old – even before birth. It can be caused by injury, disease, or a problem in the brain. For many children, the cause of their intellectual disability is not known. Some of the most common known causes of intellectual disability – like Down syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, fragile X syndrome, genetic conditions, birth defects, and infections – happen before birth. Others happen while a baby is being born or soon after birth. Still other causes of intellectual disability do not occur until a child is older; these might include serious head injury, stroke, or certain infections. This study aims to determine the development of gross motor in children with intellectual disabilities age 8-10 years. This research was conducted at SLB Negeri Surakarta. Data collection techniques such as interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques use descriptive qualitative using the Miles and Huberman model. Based on the results of this research is that some children with intellectual disabilities age 8-10 years of age experiencing no physical abnormalities, they also have problems in walking, running, jumping, balance, turning, bending, throwing, catching, and kicking. Thus it can be seen that the motor development of children with intellectual disabilities age 8-10 years are under normal children. This is due to the intelligence of the under-femoral child who is under 70/75 so that they have difficulty in coordinating the movement.
