While contertrporary Australian industrial relations studies are focusing increasingly on the workplace, our understanding of the historical development of workplace industrial relations remains hazy. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the area of workplace labour management, and the role of the personnel manager. This paper seeks to rectify this neglect by analyzing the origins and development of the personnel function in manufacturing industry since the Second World War. Personnel initiatives in the areas of employment, selection and training are examined. The paper concludes that, while a tight post-war labour market provided a general impetus for the more widespread use of specialist personnel work, the nature of personnel practice varied widely between firms.

Over the past ten years, the EU has been seeking ways to increase the adaptability of employees and enterprises and the flexibility of labour markets. Since 2006, the keyword has been flexicurity, and the implementation of this concept is intended to achieve the desired changes in labour relations. Accordingly, Estonia has attempted to reform labour relations in the light of the idea of flexicurity and adopted the Employment Contracts Act in 2008. This law comprises several amendments, the aim of which is to make labour relations more secure and flexible. This article focuses on the reforms that have had the greatest impact on the functioning of labour relations: the form of employment contracts; entering into and termination of fixed-term employment contracts; the employer’s obligation to provide training; the employer’s right to reduce wages; and the termination of the employment contact at the initiative of the employer. The author analyses whether the implementation of the idea of flexicurity has been successful with regard to these issues.

The article examines theoretical and applied aspects of labor relations in the field of professional (vocational) education. The authors highlight the problems, indicators and mechanism of regulation of labor relations in the field of professional (vocational) education. There is the analysis of the state of normative-legal regulation of conditions and grounds for hiring scientific and pedagogical workers, as well as the grounds, procedure and guarantees for dismissal of employees of this category. The authors focus in the article on the description of the conditions for concluding, performing and terminating an employment contract and substantiate the differences between the employment treaty, employment agreement and contract, employment treaty and civil law employment treaty. The article identifies the procedure for competitive selection during the filling of vacant positions of scientific and pedagogical workers and concluding contracts with them as a special form of employment treaty.
 The materials of the article can be used to improve the system of professional (vocational) education in Ukraine by ensuring the need for quality training of qualified specialists.

The oil and gas industry is prone to skills shortages resulting from financial cycles, as is the case with many other industry sectors. Bridging the gap in indigenous employment is in part a solution to this problem and in the Northern Territory this has become easier due to innovative developments and smart partnerships. When smart partnerships are formed that involve like-minded organisations, successful employment outcomes are inevitable. Partnerships, involving APPEA, Industries Services Training Pty Ltd (IST), the Australian Government through the National Shills Shortage Strategy (NSSS), plus the Structured Training and Employment Program—Employment Related Services (STEP ERS), which are funded through the Department of Employment Education and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and the Department of Education and Training (DET) in the Northern Territory, have provided funding for Indigenous pre—employment training programs that are leading to positive employment outcomes in the oil and gas Industry. The model developed and implemented in the Northern Territory by IST ensures Indigenous employment outcomes follow the delivery of the Indigenous pre-employment training programs. Key factors include: Indigenous mentors; culturally appropriate trainers; Monitoring employment activities; and, Specialist project management from APPEA and IST. Methodologies and strategies employed by various partners ensure employment outcomes through the cooperation of principal subcontractors who require staff and who can service contracts let by major APPEA members. Of the 18 Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander participants who commenced the eight-week program in 2008, 16 graduates received their nationally recognised Statements of Attainment at the graduation ceremony held at the Darwin Convention Centre in October 2008. There were six female graduates of the program. Competencies included first aid, dogging, safe working at heights and OHS including risk and hazard analysis training. You may ask yourself why these courses were so successful when many others have failed. The presentation will outline difficulties; successful methodologies and strategies used by IST to ensure employment outcomes are achieved. These strategies include full-time Indigenous mentors throughout the course plus culturally appropriate trainers, smart recruitment strategies, dedicated employment service brokers soliciting employment opportunities, industry site visits, industry guest speakers and the commitment of Governments and APPEA. As a result of the successes to date, the relevant government departments have committed to further courses throughout 2009.

To analyse democratic and legal labour relations in the current conditions of economic and social development means, first and foremost, to highlight their essence and main features, as well as the development trends and future improvements of these relations.The year 2021, like 2020, has been characterized, among others, by the COVID-19 pandemic. This has produced various effects. As an effort to mitigate these effects, the Government of Kosovo has undertaken measures to support employment through the economic recovery package. Based on this context, the main and only purpose of the 1st Measure of economic recovery is the support of employment. Active employment measures have played a very important role in the integration of unemployed persons into the labour market. One of these measures with the largest number of beneficiaries is Vocational Training. Vocational training is a fundamental and very important process to get a job. In this sense, even the latest statistical data (2021) of the official authorities of Kosovo prove that the largest beneficiaries of active labour market measures are the persons who have undergone vocational training. The purpose of Vocational Training is to enable an increase or adoption of professional knowledge, namely to acquire additional knowledge,skills and abilitiesto perform efficient work, in order to increase the prospect of employment or retain their employment. Based on the international aspect, employment and the labour market are under the pressure of many factors, such as demographic, technological, economic and political ones; therefore, vocational training is considered as one of the mostsuccessful active labour market measures.

Thesis (MTech (Public Relations Management))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2015.<br>Public relations (PR) is still a generally unexplored terrain in Botswana and many public relations practitioners (PRPs) are therefore experiencing challenges to either obtain worthwhile training and valid and applicable job descriptions or support from management where they are working. This is due to a large misunderstanding of what the profession entails. This career and study discipline certainly seems to be misconceived, misunderstood and misappropriated in many organisations and even in individual managers’ minds. Some of these misconceptions reflect that public relations is not sufficiently separated and distinguished from the other study fields and career descriptions in the discipline of communication studies, such as marketing, journalism, integrated marketing communications, corporate communication, branding, propaganda, publicity and advertising. This is a residual effect of earlier appointments of so-called public relations practitioners as the wine-and-dine attendees on the social circuit of a company who need to make a favourable impression of the business and the people on other stakeholders. There is no formal and professional public relations body in Botswana. The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) is in the process of establishing a local chapter, which could be the beginning of an answer to the misconceptions about the country’s public relations industry. Qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used to collect data, the questionnaires were self-administered and the researcher carried out interviews. The triangulation method was used as one of the strategies to validate the research results. The total population of the study amounted to 110 participants. Unfortunately not all participants completed and returned the questionnaires, but 89 have completed and returned them, while seven interviewees participated. As for the collection of data, the pilot questionnaires were carried out with 18 participants and the pilot findings formed part of the research findings. For sampling of the population, the purposive or judgmental sample was used, based on the fact that the sample had knowledge on the researched title.

amendments in various labour legislation such as Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment
Act and Labour Relations Act during 2013 and 2014. These changes have compelled employers to review
their policies in line with the amendments of these Acts. This study will however focus on the impact of the
newly introduced section 198 to the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995. The study will specifically focus on the
continued use of fixed-term contracts of employment within the Technical and Vocational Education and
Training (TVET) Sector of South Africa.

In the literature on the emergence of the welfare state, the strength of trade unions and the organized working class is often touted as the primary driving force behind the welfare state project. Furthermore, much of the previous literature has tended to assume union homogeneity across countries, federations, industries and professions. What is conspicuously lacking from the current political science literature is a systematic analysis of real-world trade unions’ choice of labor market advocacy focus. Using a qualitative approach and studying both published union material as well as conducting a number of elite interviews with high-level union officials, this thesis studies the degree to which Swedish trade unions’ labor market policy preferences are defined by the union members’ labor market risk exposure and whether the union adheres to white-collar or blue-collar unionism. While the conclusions indeed suggest that labor market risk and blue-collar/white-collar unionism do have a systematic impact on cartain aspects of trade unions’ labor market advocacy, future “large N” studies utilizing alternative methodological approaches will be required to draw more easily generalizable conclusions.

Alors que la plupart des orientations dans la voie professionnelle en France sont des orientations contraintes, le Bac Pro ASSP semble faire figure d'exception. Cette filière attire de nombreux candidats et l'intégralité des élèves dont nous avons étudié le parcours dans cette recherche l'a choisie en tant que premier vœu en fin de 3ème. Lors des entretiens menés avec les élèves, ces dernières revendiquent un rapport vocationnel à cette orientation, expliquant qu'elles ont toujours aimé s'occuper des autres dans la sphère domestique et qu'elles ont développé par ce biais des dispositions à la fois techniques et morales propices au travail de soin. En menant des observations en classe et sur les lieux de stage et des d'entretiens avec des élèves (entretiens répétés à différents moments de leur scolarité), mais aussi des enseignants et des personnels administratifs, nous avons cherché à analyser comment cette orientation qui est marquée par de forts déterminismes sociaux peut néanmoins être appropriée par les élèves et quel rôle jouent l'institution scolaire et ses acteurs dans cette appropriation. La thèse étant réalisée en sociologie des relations formation/emploi et en sociologie visuelle et filmique, elle est complétée par un film documentaire et d'une réflexion sur l'apport des images dans les recherches en sciences humaines et sociales<br>While most orientations into vocational education are constrained in France, the vocational baccalaureate Accompaniment, care, services to the person seems to be an exception. This course attracts many candidates and all the students whose school career we studied in this research chose it as their first wish at the start of high school. During the interviews with the students, they claimed a vocational relationship to this orientation, explaining that they had always enjoyed caring for others in the domestic sphere and that it had allowed them to develop both technical and moral dispositions conducive to care work. By conducting observations in classrooms and in places of internship, as well as interviews with students (that took place at different times of their schooling), but also teachers and administrative staff, we sought to analyse how this orientation, marked by strong social determinism, can nevertheless be appropriated by students. We also seeked to analyse what role the school institution and its actors play in this appropriation. Since the thesis is carried out in sociology of training/employment relations and in visual and filmic sociology, the manuscript is completed by a documentary film and a reflection on the contribution of images to research in humanities and social sciences

This Master's thesis is a history of apprenticeship in New Zealand. Apprenticeship has traditionally been the main route for entry into the skilled trades. At one level apprenticeship is a way of training people to do a particular job. The apprentice acquires, in a variety of formal and informal ways, the skills necessary to carry out their trade. The skills involved with each trade, tied inextricably to the technology that is used, are seen as the 'property' of the tradesperson. Learning the technical aspects of the job, however, is only a part of what goes on during an apprenticeship. The apprentice is also socialised into the customs and practices of the trade, learning implicitly and explicitly the hierarchies within the workplace, and gaining an appreciation of the status of his or her trade. Apprenticeship must also be viewed in the wider context of the relationship between labour and capital. The use of apprenticeship as an exclusionary device has implications for both worker and employer. Definitions of skill, and the ways in which technological advances are negotiated, are both dependent on the social setting of the workplace, which is mediated by social arrangements such as apprenticeship. This thesis thus traces the development of apprenticeship policies over the years, and examines within a theoretical context the debate surrounding those policies. Several themes emerge including the inadequacy of the market to deliver sustained training, the tension between educators and employers, and the importance of a tripartite accord to support efficient and equitable training. Apprenticeship has proved to be a remarkably resilient system in New Zealand. This thesis identifies factors that have challenged this resilience, such as changes in work practices and technology, and the historically small wage differentials between skilled and unskilled work. It also identifies the characteristics that have encouraged the retention of apprenticeship, such as the small-scale nature of industry in New Zealand, and the latter's distinctive industrial relations system. It is argued that benefits to both employer and worker, and the strength of the socialisation process embodied in apprenticeship, will ensure that some form of apprenticeship remains a favoured means of training young people for many of the skilled trades.

Réalisée en lien avec une activité professionnelle au sein d'un observatoire régional emploi formation, cette thèse porte sur l'émergence et le fonctionnement de dispositifs visant à coordonner des politiques publiques d'éducation-formation, d'emploi et de développement économique, sur des espaces infra régionaux en Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Couvrant la période de 2005 à 2010, elle part de l'hypothèse selon laquelle, s'appuyant sur des apprentissages résultant d'expériences antérieures, ces dispositifs instrumenteraient un nouvel « espace fonctionnel » qui décloisonnerait ces trois secteurs de l'action publique autour d'un référent commun consistant à développer les possibilités d'accès à l'emploi. Cette perspective se nourrit d'initiatives locales qui, d'emblée, visent à intégrer la formation, l'emploi et le développement économique. La réussite de cette intégration dépend de la capacité conjointe des promoteurs des dispositifs et des acteurs locaux à construire des liens de confiance au cours de leurs interactions grâce, notamment, à la mobilisation de connaissances et d'expertises en phase avec les spécificités de ces nouveaux instruments. Au travers de ce processus, se joue la convergence entre la promotion d'initiatives locales « intégrées » et la recherche d'un ancrage territorial de la part des acteurs qui, comme la Région, n'en disposent pas<br>This thesis, undertaken together with a professional activity with a regional employment-vocational training observatory, deals with the emergence and functioning of devices aimed at coordinating public policies for education-training, employment and economic development within Provence – Alpes – Côte d'Azur region. Covering the period between 2005 and 2010, the idea is that, based on social learning from passed experiences, these devices would be instrumental in creating new “functional space” de-compartmentalizing these three sections of public action around a common denominator aiming at developing employment accessibility. This perspective would benefit from local initiatives, which from the start, focused on integrating vocational training, employment and economic development. The success of the integration depends on the joint capacity of both the devices instigators and the local actors to build a trusting relationship by interacting and mobilizing their knowledge and expertise in accordance with the specificities of these new tools. Through this process, the issue at hand is the convergence between promoting local “integrated” initiatives and finding a territorial foothold for the actors, who, like the PACA regional council, have none

Présentée comme une ressource pour les étudiants confrontés à un avenir incertain, et pour les personnels aux prises avec une remise en cause de leur "utilité sociale", la professionnalisation est aussi un moyen de gouverner les universités<br>This thesis analyses how French universities relay the demand for a “vocationalisation of studies”. It shows the intertwining mobilizations, conflicts, institutional logics and devices that carry what can be considered as a change of university regime. The analysis is based on materials (archives, interviews, observations) collected over a triple inquiry: a historical study of the vocationalisation success as a category of the university courses governance; a multisited fieldwork on the policy of vocationalisation aiming at an optimal relationship between universities and economy; and a comparison of the uses of vocationalisation in literature, law and physics departments, in three universities. Vocationalisation is considered as a resource for the students confronted to an uncertain future, and for the staff grapple with a questioning of their “social utility”, but it appears to be also a mean for the universities governance

Diese Arbeit bietet eine solide theoretische Grundlage zu Philanthropie und religiös motivierten Spendenaktivitäten und deren Einfluss auf Wohltätigkeitstrends, Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und einer auf dem Gedanken der sozialen Gerechtigkeit beruhenden Philanthropie. Untersucht werden dafür die Strukturen religiös motivierte Spenden, für die in der islamischen Tradition die Begriffe „zakat“, „Waqf“ oder im Plural auch „awqaf-“ oder „Sadaqa“ verwendet werden, der christliche Begriff dafür lautet „tithes“ oder „ushour“. Aufbauend auf diesem theoretischen Rahmenwerk analysiert die qualitative und quantitative Feldstudie auf nationaler Ebene, wie die ägyptische Öffentlichkeit Philanthropie, soziale Gerechtigkeit, Menschenrechte, Spenden, Freiwilligenarbeit und andere Konzepte des zivilgesellschaftlichen Engagements wahrnimmt. Um eine umfassende und repräsentative Datengrundlage zu erhalten, wurden 2000 Haushalte, 200 zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen erfasst, sowie Spender, Empfänger, religiöse Wohltäter und andere Akteure interviewt. Die so gewonnen Erkenntnisse lassen aussagekräftige Aufschlüsse über philanthropische Trends zu. Erstmals wird so auch eine finanzielle Einschätzung und Bewertung der Aktivitäten im lokalen Wohltätigkeitsbereich möglich, die sich auf mehr als eine Billion US-Dollar beziffern lassen. Die Erhebung weist nach, dass gemessen an den Pro-Kopf-Aufwendungen die privaten Spendenaktivitäten weitaus wichtiger sind als auswärtige wirtschaftliche Hilfe für Ägypten. Das wiederum lässt Rückschlüsse zu, welche Bedeutung lokale Wohltätigkeit erlangen kann, wenn sie richtig gesteuert wird und nicht wie bislang oft im Teufelskreis von ad-hoc-Spenden oder Hilfen von Privatperson an Privatperson gefangen ist. Die Studie stellt außerdem eine Verbindung her zwischen lokalen Wohltätigkeits-Mechanismen, die meist auf religiösen und kulturellen Werten beruhen, und modernen Strukturen, wie etwa Gemeinde-Stiftungen oder Gemeinde-„waqf“, innerhalb derer die Spenden eine nachhaltige Veränderung bewirken können. Daher bietet diese Arbeit also eine umfassende wissenschaftliche Grundlage, die nicht nur ein besseres Verständnis, sondern auch den nachhaltiger Aus- und Aufbau lokaler Wohltätigkeitsstrukturen in Ägypten ermöglicht. Zentral ist dabei vor allem die Rolle lokaler, individueller Spenden, die beispielsweise für Stiftungen auf der Gemeindeebene eingesetzt, wesentlich zu einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung beitragen könnten – und das nicht nur in Ägypten, sondern in der gesamten arabischen Region. Als konkretes Ergebnis dieser Arbeit, wurde ein innovatives Modell entwickelt, dass neben den wissenschaftlichen Daten das Konzept der „waqf“ berücksichtigt. Der Wissenschaftlerin und einem engagierten Vorstand ist es auf dieser Grundlage gelungen, die Waqfeyat al Maadi Community Foundation (WMCF) zu gründen, die nicht nur ein Modell für eine Bürgerstiftung ist, sondern auch das tradierte Konzept der „waqf“ als praktikable und verbürgte Wohlstätigkeitsstruktur sinnvoll weiterentwickelt.<br>This work provides a solid theoretical base on philanthropy, religious giving (Islamic zakat, ‘ushour, Waqf -plural: awqaf-, Sadaqa and Christian tithes or ‘ushour), and their implications on giving trends, development work, social justice philanthropy. The field study (quantitative and qualitative) that supports the theoretical framework reflects at a national level the Egyptian public’s perceptions on philanthropy, social justice, human rights, giving and volunteering and other concepts that determine the peoples’ civic engagement. The statistics cover 2000 households, 200 Civil Society Organizations distributed all over Egypt and interviews donors, recipients, religious people and other stakeholders. The numbers reflect philanthropic trends and for the first time provide a monetary estimate of local philanthropy of over USD 1 Billion annually. The survey proves that the per capita share of philanthropy outweighs the per capita share of foreign economic assistance to Egypt, which implies the significance of local giving if properly channeled, and not as it is actually consumed in the vicious circle of ad-hoc, person to person charity. In addition, the study relates local giving mechanisms derived from religion and culture to modern actual structures, like community foundations or community waqf that could bring about sustainable change in the communities. In sum, the work provides a comprehensive scientific base to help understand- and build on local philanthropy in Egypt. It explores the role that local individual giving could play in achieving sustainable development and building a new wave of community foundations not only in Egypt but in the Arab region at large. As a tangible result of this thesis, an innovative model that revives the concept of waqf and builds on the study’s results was created by the researcher and a dedicated board of trustees who succeeded in establishing Waqfeyat al Maadi Community Foundation (WMCF) that not only introduces the community foundation model to Egypt, but revives and modernizes the waqf as a practical authentic philanthropic structure.

Les immigrantes hautement qualifiées rencontrent de nombreux obstacles à leur arrivée au Québec face à leur insertion professionnelle et économique. Les difficultés au plan de la reconnaissance des qualifications étrangères, les pratiques discriminatoires des entreprises et les stratégies et obligations familiales placent de nombreuses immigrantes dans une situation de déqualification professionnelle. Malgré un niveau de scolarité déjà élevé, plusieurs immigrantes vont opter pour un retour aux études, dans l’espoir qu’un diplôme local puisse améliorer leur situation professionnelle. Cette recherche porte sur la réorientation professionnelle des immigrantes hautement qualifiées. Elle étudie le parcours de réorientation, tel un continuum se présentant en quatre étapes, soit la décision de participer à une formation, le choix d’orientation professionnelle, le déroulement de la formation et l’accès à un emploi correspondant à cette formation. L’objectif de cette recherche est d’explorer l’impact des obstacles rencontrés par les immigrantes à leur arrivée au Québec sur ce parcours de réorientation. Les résultats obtenus suite à des entretiens réalisés avec douze immigrantes indiquent notamment une diminution importante du degré de déqualification après l’obtention d’un diplôme local. Si cette stratégie d’adaptation semble porter fruit à cet égard, les résultats montrent également la persistance de certains obstacles. L’analyse de la trajectoire de réorientation révèle aussi un effet en cascades d’une étape du parcours sur l’autre.<br>Highly skilled immigrant women face numerous obstacles upon their arrival in Quebec with
regards to their professional and economic integration. A lack of recognition of foreign
qualifications, discriminatory business practices, as well as strategies and family obligations represent difficulties that lead to the deskilling of many immigrant women. Despite a high level of education before their arrival, many of them will opt for a return to school in the hope that a local diploma will improve their occupational status. This research paper focuses on the professional reorientation of highly skilled immigrant women. It examines the course of reorientation as a continuum in four stages, namely, the
decision to undergo training, career choices, training process and access to employment
related to that training. The objective of this research paper is to explore the impact of the
barriers that immigrant women face upon arrival in Quebec and along the course of reorientation. The results obtained from interviews conducted with twelve immigrant women indicate an important decrease in the degree of deskilling upon attainment of a local diploma. Although this coping strategy seems to be working in this regard, the results also depict the persistence of certain obstacles. Trajectory analysis reveals a cascading effect from one step of the process to the next.

AbstractThis chapter applies a practice-oriented, relational analytical approach to labour control regimes in GPNs to the empirical case of the Bangalore export-garment cluster. It illustrates how the labour control regime in the Bangalore export-garment cluster emerges from the intersection of six different sets of processual relations with the labour process: sourcing relations, wage relations, workplace relations, industrial relations, employment relations and labour market relations. For each set of relations, the chapter reveals the specific exploiting and disciplining practices performed by actors at various levels, which together constitute structural labour control relations. These practices include inter alia Bangalore garment managers’ production targeting, union-busting and wage theft practices, garment retailers’ predatory purchasing practices, and employers’ and state actors’ practices of constructing a complex multi-level training and migration regime to secure adequate labour supply. In the face of this complex mesh of labour control practices, the chapter highlights the various constraints and challenges for local garment unions to build and activate associational and institutional power resources.

ABSTRACTThis research presents several machine learning algorithms and prediction models to anticipate the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) application in different European Union (EU) countries. These analyses start with data training from 2014 to 2020 ESIF, to test and predict the application of the future ESI Funds for 2021–2027. We deliver an analysis focused on the priorities of each fund, highlighting the differences between the programs in different time periods. In the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), we will specifically address the assessment of the following themes: support innovation of small and medium-sized businesses, to greener, low-carbon, and resilient projects with enhanced mobility. In what concerns the European Social Fund (ESF), we will evaluate projects that promote and increase the EU’s employment, social, education, and skills policies, including structural reforms in these areas. Regarding the cohesion funds (CF), we will be targeting the improvements between the two ESIFs, looking at projects in the field of environment and trans-European networks in the area of transport infrastructure (TEN-T). In summary, we will be looking at the future of ESIF through the glasses of artificial intelligence.

Adult education is recognised globally as a critical element in addressing challenges pertaining to climate justice, migration, employment, education and inequality. This chapter will explore the development, delivery, and impact of the International Master in Adult Education for Social Change (IMAESC n.d.), a European-funded joint master’s degree, that can proudly trace its lineage to the work of Prof. Bown at the University of Glasgow. IMAESC is jointly delivered by the Universities of Glasgow, Malta, Maynooth, Tallinn and the Open University of Cyprus. Students complete three mandatory mobility periods and choose between two study tracks ‘Community Engagement and Education’ or ‘Critical Issues, Policy and Curriculum’. Additionally, this two-year programme has a summer school in Malaysia (Universiti Sains Malaysia) focused on sustainability and peace studies. The first cohort of IMAESC students started in 2016 and there have been 118 graduates over the past seven years from over 60 countries. Adult Education takes place in many different sites – Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, higher education, community-based, workplace, and political struggle – and our students’ experiences reflect that diversity. We examine what impact IMAESC graduates have made nationally and internationally, drawing from an empirical qualitative research project, ‘Decolonising Higher Education: A case study of Erasmus Mundus master’s programme IMAESC’, undertaken in 2021-22. This research included interviews with 19 IMAESC graduates from the Global South. Through critical engagement with theory, policy and action, graduates have contributed to improving their communities, cities, civil society, nations, and international relations.

While production and markets have been becoming more integrated since barriers to the international trade reduced, capital movements and the speed of spreading of technology increased with the progress of globalization, issues regarding to agriculture, environment, women, employment, and education became more critical.
 In this research, “by which functions and missions can agricultural cooperatives sustain their assets under globalized conditions” is the major research question. In the research, 19 cooperatives were chosen among 308 cooperatives, depending on their distance to Kastamonu, foundation year, and the amount of member. Subjects were determined by their traits and occupations. 164 subjects were interviewed via survey questions in 2014-2015. In research, “The situation-specific approach” model, developed by Hartmut Albrecht was applied.
 Because of the progress of change in organizational values, agriculture cooperatives have to undertake new functions in addition to maintaining agricultural production. The functions can be classified into 4 categories as socio-economic (taking local goods to international markets, recording incomes in the agriculture sector, and creating new employment positions to reduce migration to urban), international relations (developing new projects toward internationalizing to collaborate with other cooperatives), planning (making long-term strategic plans), and education (training women in rural areas, and obtaining their collaboration in cooperative campaigns, and educating future's cooperative managers).

"Research purpose: Korea and Vietnam are actively engaged in human resource exchanges and are economically interdependent. Many Vietnamese people study or export labor in Korea, and many Korean companies and private businesses hire Vietnamese employees while doing business in Vietnam, and many Korean employees are working in Vietnam. It would be better if the two countries could make up for and cooperate with each other in using human resources to expand good jobs, boost industrial growth, innovation, and economic growth together. Therefore, by analyzing the current status of human resources and cooperation in both countries for sustainable development, we would like to find out how to cooperate in a way that is helpful to both countries. Research motivation: Diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam, the relationship between Korea and Vietnam has grown significantly, including the volume of trade between the two countries, Korea's investment in Vietnam, the number of Vietnamese labor exports to Korea, and the number of Koreans staying in Vietnam. In the wake of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam last year and the upgrade to a comprehensive strategic partnership, both countries should now pay attention not only to quantitative growth but also to qualitative growth for sustainable development of the two countries. Therefore, the basis for this is people, and the author selected ""human resources cooperation plan between Korea and Vietnam for sustainable development"" as the subject of the study. Research design, approach, and method: Find out the current status of manpower exchange between Korea and Vietnam, and analyze the characteristics of manpower exchange, factors and problems affecting manpower exchange, and parts that need to be supplemented. Main findings: Among foreigners staying on work visas in Korea, the number of Vietnamese is 39,477, the second highest after Chinese nationals, and 27,286 are employed under the employment permit system, accounting for the highest proportion of the total employed, accounting for 69%. However, the Korean government has operated the employment permit system mainly in regulations, resulting in many side effects such as mass production of illegal residents, and even when returning to Vietnam after working in Korea, the experience of working in Korea is often not available in Vietnam. The number of Korean companies invested in Vietnam and Koreans residing in Vietnam also increased significantly. Korean companies are having difficulty securing the necessary manpower due to the strict requirements for issuing workingr permits, even though Korean companies need the role of middle managers in order to smoothly pursue their business in Vietnam. And the number of Vietnamese studying abroad in Korea and the number of Koreans studying in Vietnam are both increasing, and the number of Korean language majors in Vietnam is also increasing, but there is a lack of specific ways to utilize these programs after the end of their curriculum. Practical/managerial implications: In order to support employers suffering from labor shortages and Vietnamese workers in poor conditions, it is necessary to ease regulations on the employment permit system quota system and to help Vietnamese workers dispatched to Korea use what they learned in Korea after returning home. In addition, it is necessary to ease and implement the work permit requirements for Koreans working as middle managers in Korean companies operating in Vietnam. And after the end of studying abroad in Vietnam in Korea, it is necessary to find employment for companies lacking professional manpower, and to expand the provision of training opportunities at Korean companies for the increased number of Vietnamese students majoring in Korean."

The article considers the results of an empirical study of the characteristics of the adaptation of subjects to a situation of a change in the type of professional activity. The respondents were students of the postgraduate programs (qualification master) and undergraduate programs (qualification bachelor), students of the professional retraining program, employment service clients. Adaptation is considered as a permanently running process, which has its own dynamics, substantial and other features. With the help of the construction of neural network models, it was found that in the process of adapting to the situation of changing types of professional activity, people show general individual and personal properties. Its made it possible to identify five psychological types of subjects that have different opportunities for successful adaptation to new conditions of activity.Successful adaptation to a situation of changing professional activity is more likely for psychological types that have resistance to difficulties, a developed regulatory sphere, and labor motivation for achievements. It determined that in relation to the representatives of different psychological types require different methods of psychological, social, tutor support during their preparation for the change of the type of professional activity. The results can be demanded in the practice of employment services, personnel services of enterprises, in the educational process for the training of specialists.

Background: Job satisfaction in healthcare is of special interest as has a direct relation with the quality of care provided to patients. It is affected by several factors including the nature of the work, level of educational preparedness and achievements. Objectives: This study aims to explore College of Pharmacy - Qatar University (CPH-QU) alumni’s satisfaction with employment and the profession, level of educational preparedness and achievements in the practice. Methods: A sequential exploratory mixed-method designs was adopted. Seven Focus Group (FG) discussions were performed and a self-reported survey distributed to all alumni graduated between 2011-2020. Results: A total of 135 alumni answered the survey (response rate 63%). Majority of respondents were non-Qatari (97%) and 52% of them were recent graduates and obtained doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) as an additional degree (58%). The study findings suggest that CPH alumni are moderately satisfied with the practice and the profession, and Qatari alumni are more satisfied. However, majority of them (44.55%) are not satisfied with the available opportunities for professional development. The level of satisfaction about achievements was significantly high only in the field of research and presentation activities. A general agreement about the level of educational preparedness was dominant, especially in clinical knowledge and skills and experiential training they received. Conclusion: The overall satisfaction about workplace and the profession in CPH-QU alumni is moderate and higher among Qatari graduates. Alumni agreed that they were well prepared to meet the practice requirements and mostly satisfied in achieving research and presentation related activities.

The study raised and considered the issues of social and psychological adaptation of university graduates to professional activities in the context of growing competition in the labor market and the increasing demands of employers for young professionals who are looking not just for candidates for vacant positions, but for employees who would have the ability to quickly immerse into a professional environment and selfrealization in it. In their conclusions, the authors rely on the empirical data obtained during the questionnaire and online survey, indicating that university graduates when entering the labor market are poorly adapted to the employment process, experience difficulties and discomfort when establishing interpersonal relationships in teams and processing a significant amount of professional information. In the model of the stage-by-stage implementation of education and training of a young specialist proposed by the authors, it is noted that the issues of socio-psychological adaptation are associated with the development of the graduate’s competence and require certain adaptation mechanisms. Given the fact that the adaptation process is dependent on the psychophysical properties of the graduate, the time of its implementation and can be repeated at a new place of work, the authors propose to consider it step by step, in relation to the levels of adaptation (adaptation, partial adaptation, full adaptation) and the criteria for achieving adaptation goals by defining the role of the mentor at each stage of the process. The authors believe that the role of mentoring is related to overcoming the social and psychological adaptation problems of graduates and is a mutually beneficial form of cooperation for the employer, mentor, and young specialist.

The main reason for that is the following: the loss of the comprehensive social communication with caregivers and teachers from children's home because of a change of residence in connection with training, employment, returning to relatives, etc. requires distance social and psychological support of care-leavers. The article presents the main results of the joint work of the Laboratory of social projects of Belgorod State University and the state budgetary institution “Spread the wings!” in 2014 ‒ 2017 for the implementation of the distance social and psychological support program for young people, leaving residential care of Belgorod region. The most effective methods of the distance learning are established: (1) the information-receptive method involves the transfer of information to recipients using various kinds of electronic teaching materials, including textbooks, workbooks, audio and video files; 2) reproductive method bases on the algorithmic nature of the activities of students, involves different exercises and tasks which are similar to those presented in recommendations, and are directed on formation of practical skills; (3) problem statement method focuses not only on the perception and comprehension of ready-made conclusions, but also on understanding causal relationships between objects, processes or phenomena, and logic; (4) heuristic method suggests the gradual preparation of students to make independent decisions in problem situations; (5) research method involves the manifestation of self-studying, active search, development of initiative, and creative use of knowledge in nonstandard situations.

Student's satisfaction with university curricula and their perception regarding professional training for their future career are important factors in the recruitment, selection and employment process, in relation to the evolution of labor demand, universities are forced to redesign and adapt their programs of studies and implicitly the educational plans to respond to market requirements. The aim pursued in this paper is to test the perception of students from the Faculty of Economics, Administration and Business of the Ștefan cel Mare University in Suceava regarding the university curriculum and the skills acquired during the study program. In order to achieve the proposed goal, we formulated the following objectives: O1- review of specialized literature on student satisfaction; O2 – highlighting the level of satisfaction of students; O3 – identifying possibilities for improving the university curriculum. The research methodology is specific to quantitative research, based on a questionnaire, to which 130 students responded out of a total of 165 students. The obtained results are concretized in the profile of the students from the Accounting and Management Informatics study program according to the level of satisfaction, evaluated with the help of independent variables: NSSDS - (Students' level of satisfaction regarding the subjects studied); NSSIF (Student Satisfaction Level with Faculty); CCPM (The skills offered by the curriculum are oriented towards the labor market); CDTS (The curriculum is oriented towards the long-term development of students) and the dependent variable NSSCU (Student satisfaction level regarding university curricula). The importance of the results is relevant for potential students who will want to access these programs, for employers, because they have the opportunity to monitor the students' requirements and to better understand possible situations of non-adaptation to the workplace and last but not least the Ministry of Education which should pay continuous attention to correlating the requirements of the labor market with the university curriculum.

The interest shown to the children of pre-school education increased due to the benefits which the students had by participating in the preschool education and they achieved the necessary abilities in school. The investments in good quality pre-school education had benefits on the long term because they contributed to the increase not only of the social inclusion and the employment of workforce, but also to the poverty reduction. The pre-school education systems within the European Union support investments in pre-school education programs offered to the children who come from disadvantaged environments, who would be insufficiently prepared for school, and they act as a helping instrument for the entire school system. The aim of this paper is the quality evaluation of the preschool education according to the main quality dimensions: human resources, equipment and financing sources. In order to emphasize the relation between the quality dimensions of the preschool education, we apply the cluster analysis, while for the evaluation of the differences among the kindergarten clusters we use ANOVA. The kindergarten, as a formal education service, ensures the child's development, with the help of the family and of the community, in the learning process, and takes into account the psychological features. At the pre-school age, all the education functions are centered on the formation of the student through the transmission of information with a moral, religious, cultural and scientific character, according to the age's particularities. The results of this study show that the good training of the teachers and the better equipment in education explains the higher level of preschool participation, thus reflecting a quality of the preschool education system. The significance of this study consists in highlighting the necessity for the preparation of the pre-school child according to the cognitive, physical, socio-emotional development, in order to integrate in the school activity.

The objectives of improving competitiveness and reducing unemployment, in particular among the young and women, are a part of the economic and the political agenda of most Caribbean countries. Labor market institutions play a crucial role. This study analyzes six types of institutions: (i) labor legislation, related to collective bargaining and termination of contracts; (ii) minimum wages (iii) vocational training; (iv) industrial relations; (v) social dialogue, and (vi) the role of the Ministry of Labor, and proposes policies that could contribute to employment and competitiveness. The report adopts a political economy approach and puts forward a characterization of reforms in terms of their potential impact and viability. It concludes that the Caribbean countries have many assets and also some liabilities.

This rapid literature review collates available evidence on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and employment. The evidence base concerning the impact of particular TVET interventions is complex and multifaceted involving a range of different types of intervention often varying from system to system and country to country. More specifically, the body of literature on TVET in relation to young people in the global south is relatively limited. In many of the existing reviews, evaluations of training and retraining are presented alongside other typical active labour market programmes (ALMPs), such as employment services, public works, wage and employment subsidies, and self-employment assistance.

Telecommuting, the practice of working remotely at home, increased significantly (25% to 35%) early in the COVID-19 pandemic. This shift represented a major societal change that reshaped the family, work, and social lives of many Californians. These changes also raise important questions about what factors influenced telecommuting before, during, and after COVID-19, and to what extent changes in telecommuting have influenced transportation patterns across commute modes, employment, land use, and environment. The research team conducted state-level telecommuting surveys using a crowd-sourced platform (i.e., Amazon Mechanical Turk) to obtain valid samples across California (n=1,985) and conducted state-level interviews among stakeholders (n=28) across ten major industries in California. The study leveraged secondary datasets and developed regression and time-series models. Our surveys found that, compared to pre-pandemic levels, more people had a dedicated workspace at home and had received adequate training and support for telecommuting, became more flexible to choose their own schedules, and had improved their working performance—but felt isolated and found it difficult to separate home and work life. Our interviews suggested that telecommuting policies were not commonly designed and implemented until COVID-19. Additionally, regression analyses showed that telecommuting practices have been influenced by COVID-19 related policies, public risk perception, home prices, broadband rates, and government employment. This study reveals advantages and disadvantages of telecommuting and unveils the complex relationships among the COVID-19 outbreak, transportation systems, employment, land use, and emissions as well as public risk perception and economic factors. The study informs statewide and regional policies to adapt to the new patterns of telecommuting.

Funded by the Australian Government National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grant, the New Wave Gippsland Capacity Building Project aimed to build capacity and develop skills, knowledge, and abilities of people with an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury (ABI) or complex communication in the Gippsland region. The key element of this project was the engagement, training, and support of Peer Educators in developing and delivering the Sexual Lives & Respectful Relationships (SL&RR) program and network in Gippsland. It also aimed to engage with community professionals from the sexual assault, community development and advocacy sectors to participate in violence and abuse prevention and respectful relationships education, training, and community work. SL&RR is an ecological model of violence and abuse prevention that has people with an intellectual disability at the centre. It utilises a community development approach that works from the individual out to society and systems that impact the experiences of safety and well-being in relationships and communities. The model has been co-developed by people with intellectual disabilities and is co-facilitated by people with intellectual disabilities in partnership with community professionals in the sexual assault sector. The SL&RR model provided the opportunity for GCASA to engage in dialogue with people with an intellectual disability, ABI, or complex communication, who are impacted significantly by sexual violence to contribute to the knowledge of people with intellectual disabilities around their rights to relationships which are free from violence. To coordinate the SL&RR program and support New Wave Gippsland (NWG), a Project Coordinator and a Program Developer were appointed. To deliver the program, employment opportunities for self-advocates to deliver education and build community capacity in relation to disability awareness were provided. The program aimed to undertake the following activities: • Build the capacity of the Gippsland SL&RR network to engage with people with an intellectual disability, ABI, LGBTIQA+ people with disability, community health and sexual assault professionals and services across a wider scope in Gippsland. • Deliver the SL&RR program including the new ABI and LGBTIQ+ programs, in Central and East Gippsland • Promote the Gippsland SL&RR network through free information / professional development sessions for the health, community, and disability sectors. Conduct sessions and engage Peer Educators as co-presenters. • Increase social and economic participation by Peer Educators/self-advocates employed through NWG and include paid work for up to 12 Peer Educators. Project Coordinators, counsellors and Peer Educators provided a robust team to support the SL&RR network and implementation of the model across Gippsland.
