AbstractWe show that there is an essentially uniqueS-algebra structure on the MoravaK-theory spectrumK(n), whileK(n) has uncountably manyMUor$\widehat {E(n)}$-algebra structures. Here$\widehat {E(n)}$is theK(n)-localized Johnson–Wilson spectrum. To prove this we set up a spectral sequence computing the homotopy groups of the moduli space ofA∞structures on a spectrum, and use the theory ofS-algebrak-invariants for connectiveS-algebras found in the work of Dugger and Shipley [Postnikov extensions of ring spectra, Algebr. Geom. Topol.6(2006), 1785–1829 (electronic)] to show that all the uniqueness obstructions are hit by differentials.

We show that bosonic strings may be viewed as a particular class of vacua for N=1 superstrings, and N=1 superstrings may be viewed as a particular class of vacua for N=2 strings. Continuing this line of string hierarchies, we are led to search for a universal string theory which includes all the rest as a special vacuum selection.

This thesis investigates questions of uniqueness in the theory of Compressible flow. First, various uniqueness theorems for compressible flow are reviewed in an expository manner. Roughly, these theorems state that fluid motion in a bounded region Ω = Ω(t) is uniquely determined by its initial data together along with certain boundary conditions. Next, this analysis is extended to magnetohydrodynamic flows and uniqueness theorems are given for a variety of possible cases. The basic question in all these theorems is the determination of appropriate boundary conditions. The proofs are by energy estimates.

Starting in the 1970s, Elliot’s classification of AF -algebras and Brown-Douglas-Fillmore’s classification of essentially normal operators created an explosion in the use of topological methods in the study of C * -algebras. Kasparov’s introduction of KK-theory introduced more advanced machinery. This led to better existence and uniqueness theorems with applications in the classification program. In this thesis, I present such a uniqueness theorem with a proof as presented by Eilers-Dadarlat.

This thesis establishes the existence and uniqueness of solutions to certain systems of equations connected to magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). The models have potential applications to the method of magnetic relaxation introduced by Moffatt (J. Fluid. Mech. 159, 359-378, 1985) to construct stationary Euler ows with non-trivial topology. Firstly, we prove existence, uniqueness and regularity of weak solutions of a coupled parabolic-elliptic model in 2D, and existence of weak solutions in 3D; we consider the standard equations of MHD with the advective terms removed from the velocity equation. Despite the apparent simplicity of the model, the proof in 2D requires results that are at the limit of what is available, including elliptic regularity in L1 and a strengthened form of the Ladyzhenskaya inequality ||f||L3≤c||f||1/2 L2,∞||∇f||1/2 L2 Secondly, we establish the local-in-time existence and uniqueness of strong solutions in Hs for s>n=2 to the viscous, non-resistive MHD equations in Rn, n = 2; 3, as well as for a related model where the advection terms are removed from the velocity equation (the above parabolic-elliptic system with zero resistivity). The uniform bounds required for proving existence are established by means of a new estimate, which is a partial generalisation of the commutator estimate of Kato & Ponce (Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 41(7), 891-907, 1988). Finally, we generalise the results of the previous chapter to prove the localin-time existence of strong solutions in the Besov space Bn/2 2;1 (ℝn) to the viscous, non-resistive MHD equations in ℝn.

An existence and uniqueness theory is developed for general nonlinear and nonautonomous differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) by exploiting their underlying differential-geometric structure. A DAE is called regular if there is a unique nonautonomous vector field such that the solutions of the DAE and the solutions of the vector field are in one-to-one correspondence. Sufficient conditions for regularity of a DAE are derived in terms of constrained manifolds. Based on this differential-geometric characterization, existence and uniqueness results are stated for regular DAEs. Furthermore, our not ons are compared with techniques frequently used in the literature such as index and solvability. The results are illustrated in detail by means of a simple circuit example.

The main contribution of the present thesis is in two aspects. The first one, which is the heart of the thesis, is to explore the fundamental relation between rough paths and their signatures. Our main goal is to give a geometric characterization of the kernel of the signature map in different situations. In Chapter Two, we start by establishing a general fact that a continuous Jordan curve on a Riemannian manifold can be arbitrarily well approximated by piecewise minimizing geodesic interpolations which are again Jordan. This result enables us to prove a generalized version of Green’s theorem for planar Jordan curves with finite p-variation 1 ≤ p < 2, and to prove that two such Jordan curves have the same signature if and only if they are equal up to reparametrization. In Chapter Three, we investigate the problem for general weakly geometric rough paths. In particular, we show that a weakly geometric rough path has trivial signature if and only if it is tree-like in the sense we will define later on. In Chapter Four, we study the problem in the probabilistic setting. In particular, we show that for a class of stochastic processes, with probability one the sample paths are determined by their signatures up to reparametrization. A fundamental example is Gaussian processes including fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H > 1/4, the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process and the Brownian bridge. The second one is an application of rough path theory to the study of nonlinear diffusions on manifolds under the framework of nonlinear expectations. In Chapter Five, we begin by studying the geometric rough path nature of G-Brownian motion. This enables us to introduce rough differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion from a pathwise point of view. Next we establish the fundamental relation between rough (pathwise theory) and stochastic (L2-theory) differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion. This is a crucial point of understanding nonlinear diffusions and their generating heat flows on manifolds from an intrinsic point of view. Finally, from the pathwise point of view we construct G-Brownian motion on a compact Riemannian manifold and establish its generating heat flow for a class of G-functions under orthogonal invariance. As an independent interest, we also develop the Euler-Maruyama scheme for stochastic differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion.

First, we provide new classes of initial data, that grant short time uniqueness of the associated weak Leray-Hopf solutions of the three dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The main novelty here is the establishment of certain continuity properties near the initial time, for weak Leray-Hopf solutions with initial data in supercritical Besov spaces. The techniques used here build upon related ideas of Calderón. Secondly, we prove local regularity up to the at part of the boundary, for certain classes of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations, provided that the velocity field belongs to L(-1; 0; L3, β(B(1) ⋂ ℝ3 +)) with 3 ≤ β < ∞. What enables us to build upon the work of Escauriaza, Seregin and Šverák [27] and Seregin [100] is the establishment of new scale-invariant estimates, new estimates for the pressure near the boundary and a convenient new ϵ-regularity criterion. Third, we show that if a weak Leray-Hopf solution in ℝ3 +×]0,∞[ has a finite blow-up time T, then necessarily limt↑T||v(·, t)||L3,β(ℝ3 +) = ∞ with 3 < β < ∞. The proof hinges on a rescaling procedure from Seregin's work [106], a new stability result for singular points on the boundary, suitable a priori estimates and a Liouville type theorem for parabolic operators developed by Escauriaza, Seregin and Šverák [27]. Finally, we investigate a notion of global-in-time solutions to the Navier- Stokes equations in ℝ3, with solenoidal initial data in the critical Besov space ?-1/44,∞(ℝ3), which has certain continuity properties with respect to weak* convergence of the initial data. Such properties are motivated by the strategy used by Seregin [106] to show that if a weak Leray-Hopf solution in ℝ3×]0,∞[ has a finite blow-up time T, then necessarily limt↑T ||v(·, t)||L3(ℝ3) = ∞. We prove new decomposition results for Besov spaces, which are key in the conception and existence theory of such solutions.

Much of the innovation literature focuses exclusively on product-oriented companies. While scholars have begun researching innovation in service companies, the field of service innovation remains undeveloped and relatively immature. This paper begins with a summary of the various differences that distinguish services and products-building a key framework for analyzing services proposed by Bitran and Lojo (1993). Case studies of three service companies then present detailed information regarding seven specific innovation decisions. The paper compares, contrasts, and integrates these seven innovation decisions to develop three testable propositions suggestive of a service innovation theory. I conclude by drawing attention to future research that might advance the development of service innovation theory and the ultimate generation of a general innovation theory that incorporates both products and services.

We first provide a detailed background of a geometric projection methodology developed by Professor Roswitha Marz at Humboldt University in Berlin for showing uniqueness and existence of solutions for ordinary differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). Because of the geometric and operator-theoretic aspects of this particular method, it can be extended to the case of infinite-dimensional abstract DAEs. For example, partial differential equations (PDEs) are often formulated as abstract Cauchy or evolution problems which we label abstract ordinary differential equations or AODE. Using this abstract formulation, existence and uniqueness of the Cauchy problem has been studied. Similarly, we look at an AODE system with operator constraint equations to formulate an abstract differential-algebraic equation or ADAE problem. Existence and uniqueness of solutions is shown under certain conditions on the operators for both index-1 and index-2 abstract DAEs. These existence and uniqueness results are then applied to some index-1 DAEs in the area of thermodynamic modeling of a chemical vapor deposition reactor and to a structural dynamics problem. The application for the structural dynamics problem, in particular, provides a detailed construction of the model and development of the DAE framework. Existence and uniqueness are primarily demonstrated using a semigroup approach. Finally, an exploration of some issues which arise from discretizing the abstract DAE are discussed.

Massproducerade produkter anses inte längre vara lika värdefulla vilket har utvecklat drop till en vanligt förekommande affärsstrategi. Modeföretag kan tillämpa drop i syfte att signalera unikhet genom att begränsa dess tillgänglighet. Marknadsföringen inom drop handlar om att framhäva produktens knapphet och på så sätt förstärka dess unika attribut. Modeföretag väljer att använda sig av sociala medier som marknadsföringsplattform för att stärka varumärkets community och skapa en hype kring lanseringen. I samband med att produkter behöver ha en förmåga att särskilja sig samtidigt som de kan tillfredsställa konsumenternas behov av att vara unika, behövs effektiva marknadsföringsstrategier som betonar produkternas knapphet, framkallar efterfrågan och skapar en känsla av gemenskap för konsumenten. Syfte: Studiens syfte är att undersöka och kartlägga vad affärsstrategin drop innebär och hur det utvalda modeföretaget anpassar strategin i sin verksamhet, samt undersöka i vilken utsträckning knapphet, sociala medier som marknadsföringsplattform och unikhet kan utnyttjas i samband med drop. Avsikten med studien är att öka förståelsen för drop som strategi samt bidra med att berika forskningsområdet genom nya effektiva analyser och slutsatser kring vilka effekter limiterade produkter inom drop har på efterfrågan. Resultat och slutsats: Resultatet i denna studie indikerar på att drop generellt ökar produktens exklusivitet och efterfrågan genom att skapa en illusion av knapphet. Vidare visar resultatet på att företag med hjälp av knapphet kan upprätthålla konsumenters uppmärksamhet och därmed öka lönsamheten. Studien indikerar på att det är väsentligt att begränsa antalet drop samt att det är viktigt att ständigt uppdatera produkterna så de upprätthåller sina unika attribut. Marknadsföring via sociala medieplattformar har en förmåga att höja värdet av varumärket och skapa en hype bland konsumenterna innan ett drop. Background: Consumer value individualism which leads to a higher demand for unique products. Mass produced products are no longer considered as valuable which has developed drop into a common occurring business strategy. Fashion companies can apply drop in order to indicate uniqueness by limiting it’s availability. Marketing within drop is about emphasising the products scarcity and thus enhancing its unique attribute. Fashion companies choose to use social media as a marketing platform in order to strengthen the brand community and create a hype around the launch. As well as products need to be able to differentiate and at the same time satisfy the consumers need for uniqueness, it requires effective marketing strategies that emphasizes the products scarcity, provokes demand and creates a feeling of a community for the consumer. Aim: The aim of this study is to examine and map what the business strategy drop means and how the chosen fashion company adopts the strategy into their business, also examine to what extent scarcity, social media as a marketing platform and uniqueness can be utilized within drop. The intention of this study is to increase the understanding about drop as a business strategy as well as contribute to the research area through new effective analyses and conclusions about the effects limited products within drop have on the demand. Methodology: This study is based on a qualitative research method where three semi-structured interviews and one observation have been done. The data collection derives from four themes and the questions which are anchored from the theoretical framework. Findings and conclusion: The result of this study indicated that drop generally enhances the products exclusivity and demand by creating an illusion of scarcity. Furthermore the results show that companies can by scarcity gain the ability to maintain consumers attention and thereby increase the profitability. The study indicates that it is significant to limit the amount of drops as well as it is important to constantly develop the products in order to maintain their unique attributes. Marketing through social media platforms have the ability to increase the value of the brand and create a hype among the consumers before a drop. Social media is also profitable to apply because it doesn't need large investments even though it is possible to reach a wider range of consumers.

The monograph is devoted to the application of methods of functional analysis to the problems of qualitative theory of differential equations. Describes an algorithm to bring the differential boundary value problem to an operator equation. The research of solutions to operator equations of special kind in the spaces polutoratonny with a cone, where the limitations of the elements of these spaces is understood as the comparability them with a fixed scale element of exponential type. Found representations of the solutions of operator equations in the form of contour integrals, theorems of existence and uniqueness of such solutions. The spectral criteria for boundedness of solutions of operator equations and, as a consequence, sufficient spectral features boundedness of solutions of differential and differential-difference equations in Banach space. The results obtained for operator equations with operators and work of Volterra operators, allowed to extend to some systems of partial differential equations known spectral stability criteria for solutions of A. M. Lyapunov and also to generalize theorems on the exponential characteristic. The results of the monograph may be useful in the study of linear mechanical and electrical systems, in problems of diffraction of electromagnetic waves, theory of automatic control, etc. It is intended for researchers, graduate students functional analysis and its applications to operator and differential equations.

Анотація:
The article analyzes a series of materials by Aleksander Janta-Polczynski «Into the USSR» from Soviet Russia during the in 1932, published on «Wiadomości Literackiе». The purpose of this article is explain the uniqueness of the reporter’s style and personality. We want to emphasize the role of Janta-Polczynski as the pioneer of reportage journalism. He was the first who worked professionally in this position in the full sense of this word. Analyzed the cycle of Alexander Janta-Polczynski from Russia, we can emphasize the scale of the reporter’s trip: in 1932 the journalist made the largest journalistic trip to the USSR. Janta visited the Eastern republics, which differed from the popular Moscow and Leningrad. Also, he saw the largest construction in the USSR at this time – which it bragged about russian newspapers – Magnitogorsk and Dneprostroy. For a better understanding are given the visual examples from reportorial texts. It should be noted that for Janta the main task of the reporter is to show what is seen and recorded: only facts and personal experience in communication. This cycle can safely be called a journey and social expedition. The main task for Janta the scene where the reportage takes place is to find proper characters and convince them of the importance of their story. These are the materials of a reporter – an eyewitness, not a researcher, a report from the scene, which pushes the reader to an independent conclusion. We explore that all the Janta-Polczynski texts are inextricably linked by looking into the «middle» of the process: the diversity of what is seen allows the journalist to look for differences and similarities, compare, look at the fundamental components, track changes and distinguish them. Special attention was paid to a low-angle shot in his materials. He describes how Soviet society lives, how factories work, how the system of educating a Soviet person, goes to the movies and exhibitions, communicates with ordinary citizens. Undoubtedly, all this is successfully complemented by the factual detail and uniqueness of the author’s style.

Анотація:
The article is devoted to the study of the Ukrainian segment of video blogging as one of the most popular types of the functioning of the modern blogosphere. The content and statistics of popular video blogs were studied on the example of YouTube channels of Ukrainian bloggers and famous journalists. Today we are witnessing the rapid development of technologies that help journalists become better, and the creators of media content to work more quickly and ensure the completeness of the information. With the help of Internet communication, new ways of disseminating information have appeared in journalism. Journalists more often create their blogs on various platforms. Blogosphere video content has become very popular among the Ukrainian audience on YouTube because today the video format is the most effective in terms of communication. The YouTube social network partially replaces television, and the variety of thematic content is ably adapted to a wide audience. The paper analyzes Ukrainian blogs managed by journalists, where they publish different content formats. Therefore, the presentation of various examples of video blogs in our work helps to understand the specifics of Ukrainian blogging at its current stage of development. After all, videos of popular people such as Michael Shchur, Yanina Sokolova, Ostap Drozdov demonstrate the peculiarities of Ukrainian popular video content. For the research, we chose those blogs that are currently relevant to Ukrainian YouTube and have their specifics and uniqueness. The main objective of a blogger is to react quickly to the flow of information because the rating of the channel being monetized depends on it. With the help of statistical data, we can conclude that the Ukrainian audience is interested in a wide range of different information. Viewers now value the independent opinion of bloggers and more often listen to it. Every important event is covered by bloggers promptly. And the format in which it is presented depends on the individual style of the author and the concept of his channel. We can conclude that the video content of the modern blogosphere is developing rapidly. This provides the audience with information for different tastes.
