This report describes the first translocation of reindeer Rangifer tarandus from South Georgia to the Falkland Islands, in the South Atlantic Ocean. Reindeer were introduced from Norway to the subantarctic island of South Georgia on three occasions in the early 1900s by Norwegian whalers, and today they exist as two discrete herds, numbering approximately 2600 individuals in total. Compact homomorphisms between Banach algebras are not particularly unusual – for example if A is the algebra of complex sequences {an} with nan → 0 as n → ∞ and ∥{an}∥ = supn(nan) and B = c0 then the embedding map ø:A → B is a compact homomorphism. Nevertheless for really well behaved Banach algebras it is often the case that the only weakly compact homomorphisms are those with a finite-dimensional range. A number of interesting results in this area appear in [1] and elsewhere. The purpose of this paper is to extend those results.

The assessment of rock reservoir volume concentration is necessary as it accounts for the appreciable pore spaces available for hydrocarbon and other targets. AbstractA balanced directed cycle design with parameters (υ, k, 1), sometimes called a (υ, k, 1)-design, is a decomposition of the complete directed graph into edge disjoint directed cycles of length k. A complete classification is given of (υ, k, 1)-designs admitting the holomorph {øa, b: x ↦ ax + b∣ a, b ∈ Zυ, (a, υ1) = 1} of the cyclic group Zυ as a group of automorphisms.
