The article presents a study of the readership ability to unravel the intertextual code of V. Pelevin’s late novel work. A sociological method was used – a questionnaire, which made it possible to determine the degree of recognition of reminiscences in the works of V. Pelevin. Abstract:

The article comprises the summarized results of the author’s investigation of the Universe of Afterlife — the post-mortem home of human soul — as a specific locus in Russian, Slavic, European and North American fantasy of 20th–21th centuries. More than a hundred fiction texts under analysis, referring to the genre of fantasy, depict the Universe of Afterlife as an isolated area, unmistakably identified both by the author and the reader, and characterized by its own space-time and landscape parameters, population diversity, system of social and moral norms. The article is devoted to a little-known story by the young emigrant writer V. Yanovsky “Love Second”. The author is known to the modern reader mainly by his memoir book “The Elysian Fields” (1983). However, he has a considerable artistic heritage, among which the analysed work takes one of the leading places. Thematically, it continues the plot line of homeless meaningless existence, which is topical for the young emigration, which connects it with the works of such authors as Gazdanov, Poplavsky, Felsen. В статье рассматриваются особенности стилизации в пьесе Ф. Сологуба «Дар мудрых пчел» (1906). Анализируются связи между изучаемой пьесой и ее вероятными претекстами, учитывая вариативность авторских интерпретаций античного мифа-первоосновы о Протесилае и Лаодамии. Специальное внимание уделяется взаимосвязи образов-символов: пчелы – мед – воск, семантика которой связана с древнегреческой мифологией, а также мотивом воскресения, переосмысленным и трансформированным согласно эстетической цели и художественному замыслу автора пьесы.
