Due to their limited comprehension, how to convey the abstract legal concepts to children and help them realize the implications is really not easy. However, this study was surprised to discover that Grimm's Fairy Tales that children enjoy reading could resolve the aforementioned predicament. The Brothers Grimm, disciples of the founder of the German school of historical jurisprudence, Friedrich Carl von Savigny (1779-1861), received legal education in University of Marburg in Germany. Although Grimm’s Fairy Tales was composed of folk stories, it contained numerous legal elements. Some stories were even written to vividly describe the organization of a court and judicial activities, allowing readers to feel virtually involved in the described environment. This study consisted of five chapters and aimed to analyze Grimm’s Fairy Tales by the specifications of the domestic criminal laws. In the aspect of substantive laws, this study focused on the discussion of judicial judgment, especially about the assurance of the four legal interests, namely life, body, freedom, and property. In addition to the legal content, offender’s motivations, means, and background causes were analyzed, and victim’s negligence was also covered in the investigation. The purpose of this study was to help readers have correct values, make right judgment, and establish the concepts of self-protection and offense prevention. The fulfillment and implementation of justice is the core value of laws, which is made possible through judicial judgment. Judgment can be divided into fact identification and law application. In the current times, domestic people tend to neglect the importance of adequate presentation of facts. Through fairy tales, readers could understand that the fulfillment of justice is not necessarily the definite outcome, and if the associations with evidences and facts are ignored, injustice may be resulted. Thus, this study provided a direction to enrich the materials of legal education and proposed to use fairy tales to cultivate civic awareness, in hope of making the existence of justice as naturally granted as the air.
