Integer ambiguity parameters are very important, yet unknown variables when using GPS carrier phases for ranging and positioning. Theoretically, it is equivalent to either eliminate the integer ambiguities or to estimate them. The use of cosine functions to eliminate any integer ambiguities in relative positioning applications causes spatial ambiguity problems to arise, but both reasonably approximated positions and wavelength-dependent convergence ranges are of the utmost importance. Differential GPS-based position solutions are smoothed to create an initial time-varying trend trajectory. Long-wavelength wide-lane phase combinations are utilized to facilitate positional convergence, on a stage-by-stage basis. Although as by-products, all the double-difference ionospheric path delays will be obtained, when, finally, the respective cosines of the L1 and L2 carrier phases undergo a simultaneous least-squares estimation. In particular, the quadratic forms of the estimated phase residuals are linked with statistical testing to allow for a meaningful inference. Some low-dynamics experiments prove the feasibility of the hierarchical positioning concept.

GPS 全球定位系統載波相位相對定位測量之潛力與所能達到之精度已廣為大地測量學 者所肯定。隨著 18 顆衛星將漸次發射升空,其應用領域將會不斷地擴大,而給測量 技術帶來革命性的變革。本文首先探討此一新的測量技術之定位原理與方法。並針對 兩測站間基線採用差分相位觀測量從事靜態相對定位之過程與解法加以稅究。其次對 「兩段法」偵測週波脫落之有效性及固定測站座標偏差對基線求解之影響做模擬分析 。最後以 2部 Trimble 4000 sx GPS接收器之實例結果來分析不同觀測衛星群、不同 觀測時間長短對基線求解精度之影響。由計算結果顯示﹕對短基線而言 (小於10 km) ,GPS 本身之內在精度 (基線分量閉合差) 可達 0.69 ppm ,而基線長與電子測距之 較差亦在 3∼11 ppm之內。對觀測 4顆衛星之成果而言,僅需 45 分鐘,即可達到一 般測量應用之精度需求。

Precision positioning systems with high resolution, accuracy and repeatability play important roles in the advances in areas such as precision machining, MEMS, semiconductor technologies and metrology systems. A good precision positioning system is required to be (1) fast responding with no overshoot, (2) high accuracy, high repeatability and low steady state error and (3) suitable for various stroke distances and operation environments. To meet these requirements, a good design/selection of mechanical elements to minimize the non-linearities in the system (such as stick-slip and backlash) and a robust and disturbance rejection controller are of essential importance. This study is aimed to develop and build a precision positioning stage. An air-lubricated capstan drive and air-lubricated slides were used in the developed staged to minimized the backlash and the stick-slip friction in the servo system. As a result, the stick-slip induced positioning error was kept within 15nm on the improved air-lubricated capstan drive system when moving at velocity of 10nm/sec. A model reference adaptive controller(MRAC) was developed to control the capstan drive system for precision positioning. Accuracy better than ±15nm without any overshooting in all conditions tested was achieved in this study using the single-mode MRAC. Disturbance resistance of the system was also proved to be satisfactory. However, the performances of the fixed gain MRAC controller deteriorated when the system subjected to varying stroke lengths . To overcome this deficiency, a piecewise linear gain MRAC approach and mixed gain scheduling model reference adaptive control (MGS/MRAC) approach were used in the present research to improve the performance of model reference adaptive control with fixed gain (FG/MRAC) in long stroke precision positioning system. The results showed that while MGS/MRAC demonstrated consistent performances and robustness when the stroke length varied from 25nm to 10mm and loads increased to 521% of its original mass; PID performed poorly on both accounts and FG/MRAC, though had good rersistance to varying loads, went unstabled when the stroke length was increased to 10mm. A non-contact precision tool setting system is also developed and built in this study to resolve the problem that, on a precision machine tool, the relative positions of workpiece/tool and tool shape can not be detected by a precision stage alone. The edge-detection image processing technique is used in the present tool setting system to detected the tool tip position and tool shape. The results show that tools of different shapes namely round, half-round and sharp tool can all be positioned to within an error band of ±1mm by using the developed tool setting system.

The EROS A satellite was successfully launched by ImageSat International on December 5, 2000. It is a high-resolution imaging satellite, with 1.8 m resolution. The satellite can turn up to 45 degrees in any direction as it orbits, and the sensor scans asynchronously, allowing the satellite to move at a faster ground speed than its rate of imaging. This kind of imaging mode is different from any other traditional imaging satellite scanning in a synchronous mode. The geometrical distortion during the scanning process was serious and complicated. The main purpose of this research is to analyse the influence of this imaging mode when using Bundle Adjustment, and what factors could impact on the aerotriangulation model. Besides, the initial values of the unknowns can be determined by using ephemeris and attitude data. The experimental results indicate that the stereo images with larger ratio of satellite orbit can give better results when using higher order of polynomial. Moreover, the stereo images with smaller ratio of satellite orbit can give better position accuracy and small spreading range of accuracy when varying polynomial orders. Besides, the more images we use the higher ground point accuracy we can reach and reduce the influence of asynchronous mode. The Taichung steropair with 4 images can reach ground point accuracy at 1.8m in planimetry and 3.0m in height. The Kao-Hsiung steropair with 3 images can reach ground point accuracy at 1.5m in planimetry and 2.1m in height.

The main issues of GPS positioning are field project and computation task. The assignment of field project is to acquire GPS raw data, so the planning is concerned for select the instrument, the window of satellite, the session length, the cut-off angle of satellite, the sampling rate, the design of network, the surrounding of the occupied location, and so on. The duty of computation task is to get position of the unknown location, so the jobs are wanted to download the raw data, detect the cycle slip, correct the atmospheric delay, resolve the ambiguity, assess the baseline vector, check the loop closure, estimate the network adjustment, and so on. In fact, to fulfill the accuracy requirement of GPS survey, both field project and computation task are considerable factors. The focus of this research is on the computation task and the object is to analysis the stability of baseline vector from GPS dual frequency observations. The design of experiment is included two experimental fields that belong to short and mid-long baselines, two type of GPS receivers that are Leica and AOA Benchmark, and three software used that are GeoGenius, GPSurvey, Bernese. The subject of experiment I is to evaluate the capability of three software and the experiment II that includes signal noise of measurements, initial coordinates of reference point, sampling rate of recording, cut-off angle of satellite, session length, baseline length testing is to analyze their impact on baseline estimation. Finally, the relationship of positioning accuracy versus session length and positioning accuracy versus baseline length in both case of short and mid-long baseline are generated for use.

This study utilized a set of automatic monitoring switch notch positions with surrounding temperature and humidity monitoring system, which transmits images and data into MySQL database. The temperature and humidity sensors was exploited based on RS485 (MODBUS) transmission protocol, and the video camera employed UVC (USB video device class) communication interface to transmit video date in 30 FPS, 640 x 480 pixel in resolution. We designed a red framework notch program to mark out the position of anchor point, then use image notch-identifying program to measure, which can detect 1mm offset. The images of video identification and data of temperature and humidity will be displayed to the client terminal through an apache web server. The result indicates that the system can provide reliable and stable anchor position image and the readings of temperature as well as that of humidity. The system can also notify and alert maintenance faculty when the switches are functioning abnormally.

The advanced technology in global positioning system(GPS) demands higher accuracy of all kinds of measurement. Recently, GPS has been becoming more and more important since it started operating. Additionally due to the broader applications of GPS, navigation technology system has break-through development, Inexpensive、reliable、accurate、and generally navigation system and receiver have been quickly introduced into the market and been very helpful for the common navigation system. Though the abolition of SA(Selective Availability) restriction by U.S. government in May will enhance the receiving accuracy, the ability of receiving and positioning is still influenced by many disturbing factors. Therefore, how to develop more convenient and more accurate positioning methods is very important for every user. Carrier phase positioning method and Doppler frequency shift positioning method are seem to the better solution methods. This research applied the aforementioned positioning methods absolute positioning. Used GPS receiver to data, The results showed that accuracy is in the range of tens of centimeters and meters. Therefore, these two positioning methods are efficient for the applications requiring higher accuracy and vehicle navigation. Thus the carrier phase positioning method and Doppler frequency shift positioning method will certainly take the place of the traditional pseudo-range positioning methods and become the main trend in the market.
