Abstract:
Sufis took Islam to many parts of Asia and in some of those countries still continue to have a significant impact. Using Kraft’s model of dynamic equivalence this paper examines the Sufi spiritual forms of dhikr and samaʾ. Taking his parameters of form, function and meaning, these forms have been researched in terms of their use in fostering the Christian spiritual growth of Muslim seekers/followers of Jesus Christ in one of those Asian contexts. The assessment seeks to discover the degree to which they are compatible or may create difficulties with similar Christian forms. Following a brief overview of Sufism, the dhikr is considered in terms of its form, function and meaning. Both the fikr, the complement of the dhikr and the samaʾ are examined briefly. Then, the main issues highlighted are examined from a Christian theological perspective. Following Hiebert, a brief consideration is also given in terms of Christian history and traditions. Finally, observations are made as to how compatible these forms are within the Christian context while also outlining some of the possible problems. Abstract:
As one of the most important and popular religions in the world, Islam planted its roots in Hong Kong beginning since the 1850’s. The spread of Islam spread in the city was linked with the development of local history. Muslims from South Asia, Africa, Indonesia and Mainland China all started their groups in this highly globalized city. This research focuses on the historical development of Chinese Muslim communities in Hong Kong. In fact, the first batch of Chinese Muslims arriving in Hong Kong were mainly Muslim families living in Guangdong, which was geographically linked with the boarder of Hong Kong during the mid to late 19th century. This batch of incoming Muslims could be categorized as "Cantonese Muslims". Then, immediately after the end of World War II, a number of Chinese Muslims from the north and northwest regions of Mainland China migrated to Hong Kong as a result of the war. This batch of Chinese Muslims is categorized as "Northern Muslims". This paper seeks to outline the migration history of local Chinese Muslim communities as well as the process of "localization". Batches of Chinese Muslims started their new lives in Hong Kong and interacted with different sectors of local society. Many of them tried hard to assimilate into local society while maintaining their Islamic religious traditions. However, it was not an easy task to keep Islamic traditions in a highly secular and commercial society such as Hong Kong.
Structural changes of Hong Kong society had significantly re-sharped the identities and historical track of the Muslim communities. Owing to the lack of basic Islamic education and a secularized social environment, chasms appeared between generations of Chinese Muslims in Hong Kong in terms of the inheritance of Islam’s religious traditions. Although the religious identity of Chinese Muslims have blurred, especially for the younger generations, the political power of the Muslim community has significantly increased due to different factors, with the handover of the colony being a critical one. This has constructed a new political arena for the community, resulting in a shift in political power between Chinese and non-Chinese Muslim communities. Finally, this paper will also seek to explore what local Chinese Muslim communities could do to inherit their traditions and identities in a sustainable manner in the secularized society of Hong Kong.

In order to promote business in the newly emerging countries’ market, Taiwan Government has recently tried to facilitate and encourage Small and Medium Enterprises to enhance exportation. The Muslim countries’ market in the Middle East is one of the most growing flash points among the emerging markets, because its population keeps increasing, and the market scale keeps expanding, so it has become the critical exportation target of Taiwanese companies. The industry of Taiwanese frozen processed seafood has matured and advanced techniques, no matter its source is provided by domestic fish farm or purchased from abroad and processed in Taiwan then re-export, it has strong competitive capability of exportation. The thesis accordingly aims at the study of the promoting strategies of the industry of Taiwanese Frozen processed seafood on Muslim Market, and taking United Arab Emirates as an example. United Arab Emirates (Dubai) is the regional hub of transportation and busy business activities of Middle East area, and it is also the gateway for Taiwanese businessmen to enter such an emerging market. Based on statistics, it shows the demand of the frozen seafood and its importation has increased remarkably in the Middle East countries. Frozen processed seafood products from Taiwan are better in quality, packaging and price compared with other competing countries. However, without sufficient information and proper promoting strategy, Taiwanese businessmen in frozen processed seafood industry have not had effective or aggressive plan on this Muslim market, and yet the government and academics has neither attention or study on this subject. Consequently, in addition to collecting data and elaborating, the researcher of this thesis went to Dubai, United Arab Emirates for a field visit, in order to inspect market of seafood products, and to interview importers, as well as to collect information through special designed questionnaire. Before opening or promoting an international market, an enterprise needs to consider its business strategy. Each strategy has its advantage and challenge, and it is related to capability of enterprise and the real condition of target market, so different enterprise may adopt different strategy on the same target market. There are basic reference criteria for choosing the above mentioned strategy, and thus this thesis will focus on resource based theory, competition advantage theory, 5 power competition model, and SWOT analysis model, and to reach the result. Through field trip, multilateral interviews of importers, exporters and trade promoting officials, and detailed questionnaire, the researcher will explain current situation of exportation of the industry of Taiwanese frozen processed seafood on Muslim Market, especially in the Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the ways of promoting business. Finally, the researcher wishes to combine the analysis of interviews of Taiwanese industries and trade promotion officials, with the information study and business theories, to conclude the niche of the industry and its best strategy on Muslim Market in the Middle East.
