Research on self-directed learning skill, job involvement, and school administrative effectiveness of administrators Adviser: Dr. Tsai Pei-tsun Student: Chen Yu-ju Content of Abstract: This research was designed to understand the effect of the self-directed learning skill and job commitment of school administrators on their school administrative effectiveness, and it was conducted to achieve four main objectives: 1. Investigate the self-directed learning skill, job involvement and school administrative effectiveness of existing school administrators; 2. Investigate the differences between administrators with different backgrounds in self-directed learning skill, job involvementt, and school administrative effectiveness; 3. Understand the relationships between self-directed learning skill, job commitment, and school administrative effectiveness; 4. Put up suggestions, based on the findings, to aid future administration in junior high and elementary school. This research adopted the questionnaire survey method and used public junior high and elementary schools in Kaohsiung County and Kaohsiung City as the population. Deans, teachers with section directorship, were selected, by using clustered random sampling, as the subjects. A total of 926 forms were distributed, and 724 were retrieved, accounting for 78.2% recovery rate. The research used the tool, “Questionnaire on Self-directed Learning Skill, Job , and School Administrative Effectiveness,” and the collected data were processed with the software package SPSS 8.0 for Windows. Factor analysis, frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation, T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and two-way ANOVA were used to conducted statistical analysis. This research came up with the following conclusions: 1. The existing self-directed learning skill, job involvement, and school administrative effectiveness are good for the better part. 2. There exists a significant relationship between self-directed learning skill and school administrative effectiveness, demonstrated by teachers and administrators of junior high and elementary schools. 3. The self-directed learning skill and school administrative effectiveness of teachers and administrators of junior high and elementary schools vary with their background variables. Senior teachers, deans and section directors, those with graduate degrees, and those serving at elementary schools composed of 25-60 classes have achieved higher school administrative effectiveness. 4. Those with better self-directed learning skill or higher job involvement have achieved better school administrative effectiveness. 5. Female administrators at elementary school have achieved better school administrative effectiveness than their female counterparts at junior high school. At junior high school, female administrators have achieved better school administrative effectiveness than their male counterparts. Based on the conclusions, this research has thus put up the following suggestions: I. Suggestions for administrators: 1. Develop a self-directed learning habit through continuing education. 2. Enhance self-directed learning skill by making use of self-based contract learning. 3. Elevate the ability to conduct independent learning through learning on the Internet. 4. Encourage colleagues to commit to job and strengthen professional knowledge and skill in order to improve job performance. Suggestions for administrative authorities: 1. Open the channel to strengthen professional knowledge and skill 2. Establish a practical system for in-service education and training with the purpose to elevate . administrative effectiveness. 3. Develop the democracic school management to accelerate job involvement. 4. Provide in-service education for female administrators to ensure and promote sex equality. 5. Help young administrators use resources to solve problems. 6. Make a more effective research and evaluation system so as to help elevate school administrative effectiveness. II. Suggestion for follow-up research Put up suggestions as to research subject, research method, research tool, and content of research that should be taken in studies in the future.

The present study aims to explore and analyze the marketing strategies of Taiwanese certification, in order to serve as a reference for the government institutes to implement the native language certification. The research applies the in-depth interview as the research technique and “public policy marketing model” proposed by Snavely as the analytical framework.Meanwhile, four dimensions including “serve/regulate the customers”, “manage efficient marketing tools”, “strengthen the value framework of the public policy” and “emphasize on the strategic environment” are used to evaluate the problems encountered in the process of promoting Taiwanese language certification. The results of data analysis are four fold. First, people put great value on the authority and credibility of the policy maker. Second, in terms of acquiring information/education, the insufficient channels for acquiring information about Taiwanese language certification have prevented the majority of people from receiving relevant information. Third, as for the applicability of policy implantation,the incentive for signing for the certification is inadequate. Fourth, concerning the strategic environment, elements like the long-term language policy and the shift of the regime have had a negative impact on the macro-environment and caused our government’s neglect of various native language policies.

A Study on the Work Stress and the School Effectiveness of the Administrator in the Elementary School Chin-Chou, Wang Graduate Institute of Elementary and Secondary Education in National Chiaya University Abstract This research aim at the relation that inquire into the administrator in the elementary school in Chiayi County City the work stress and the school effectiveness, and as a result put forward concretely suggesting according to the research, be to turn down administrator's operating load, the reference that promote the school effectiveness.This research first analyzes the result through the cultural heritage, inducing the administrator in the school of four levels the work stress and four levels of the school effectiveness, and drawing up "the administrator in the elementary school work stress and the school effectiveness investigate to measure the form" according to its content, taking the director, senior clerk of the elementary school in Chiayi County City as to investigate the object, collecting the administrator in the elementary school in Chiayi County City the work stress and the school effectiveness relation it actually advertise for the data. This research totally sends out 290 questionnaires, physically recovering 265, the valid sample 258, difference with make firm critical ratio and Person product-moment correlation, Cronbach alpha, mean, standard deviation, percentage, independent sample T-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe' Method and multiple-regression-analysis take a lot of doing more etc. method, carry on the covariance analysis that investigates the data. Synthesize the cultural heritage analysis and questionnaire the result, this research conclusion is as follows: 1. The administrator in the elementary school in Chiayi County City belong to the not high degree towards working the feeling of the stress ascending,.In four levels, take "operating load" level as the most high. 2. The administrator in the elementary school in Chiayi County City are at whole school effectiveness of consciousness up, belong to in up degree, in four levels, take"the teaching quality" level as the most high, "the administration management" level is an end most. 3. The administrator in the elementary school in Chiayi County City of the different sex, the service period of service and the service place room in the feeling of the work stress have the obvious difference. 4. The administrator in the elementary school in Chiayi County City of the different school scale and the school area in the realization of the school effectiveness have the obvious difference. 5. The administrator in the elementary school in Chiayi County City of the low stress group are bigger than the center stress group in the realization of the school effectiveness. 6. Junior High School administrators and school performance of work stress research Abstract According to the current national secondary school staffing, school administrators by the majority of part-time school teachers, responsible for academic, academic, administrative and counseling, and other administrative business forward. The offices of executives, weekdays apart as a teaching work, in the promotion of administrative work on the occasion, must always face the principals and educational administration agencies all the requirements, "work pressure" has become as a school administrator who must face the inevitable phenomenon. Researchers and teachers in the country serve as administrators, that have in-depth study and research work of school administrators and school performance stress the need and value the relationship. Hope that through this study, the work can be informed of the relationship between stress and school performance, how to effectively apply knowledge, to improve school effectiveness, is concerned about the issues in this study. Work stress and school performance has its relevance, when school administrators are facing pressure to work when appropriate, can enhance attention, to make the executive officer for more investment in the work itself, and to stimulate more effective work force. But when the working pressure in excess of certain limits, can not afford, it will have to avoid the phenomenon of leaving the administration to reduce performance, but also affect the quality of their teaching, student learning indirectly, will be negatively affected, prompting the poor performance of students in the learning , also affect the parents do not trust the school. This paper Hualien County Junior High School-based research area, but because of the time, manpower restrictions failed to include other cities and counties of the junior high school executives in-depth interviews or questionnaires, and the institute sent questionnaires object Adjunct administrative staff of teachers, which were limited to teachers and part-time administrative worker, it does not include the administrative work of civil servants or those who only worked as a teacher. In this study, literature review of relevant theory, the entire management archive for the contents of the questionnaire of the structure, so preparation of the questionnaire scales to do sampling, the proceeds of the data from the statistical analysis, and then to the Hualien County Junior High School administrative staff carry out random questionnaire-based survey, and from the data from the analysis and discussion. Finally, this study found that the entire sum, Hualien County Junior High School administrative staff working pressure no significant correlation of school performance; natural part of the positive correlation between the level or negative correlation, the working pressure in the "professional competence" dimension and performance in school "teaching quality" is presented by the phenomenon of positive correlation; and "role conflict" and "administration" are negatively related phenomena. This summarized form conclusions and makes specific the recommendations, as educational agency or school's administration to improve school performance reference. Fist part of this thesis is separated into two dimensions--organizational core competency and individual core competency. we have to clarify the difference between two, though core competency does realize the vision of organization. The significance of core competency is arrange the right person with right competencies on the right position. Only those in the range of individual competencies, job needs, and organizational environment are core competencies, and do make superior performance. And then introduce the application in the recruitment and training in senior service in 5 countries-United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. In these two chapters, we discuss them from the definitions, backgrounds, recruitment procedures, and contents. And the final of this thesis sum up those profiles, suggests to our government.

The study was to discuss the perception and practice of elementary school administrative teacher’s expertise in Taipei City,in addition to the relationship between these two variables. Questionnaire as the main research approach to self-developed “Survey Questionnaire on the perception and practice of elementary school administrative teacher’s expertise in Taipei City” as the tool for data collection. The elementary school administrative teachers in Taipei City are targeted as the population of the study. A total of 644 questionnaires were distributed, and 577 valid questionnaires were returned. The return rate of questionnaires is 89.5%,while 527 valid responses were obtained. The valid response rate is 91.3%. The collected data were statistically analyzed by mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation in the SPSS. According to the analysis results, the following conclusions are obtained: 1.The perception of administrative teacher’s expertise is in high level. 2.The practice of administrative teacher’s expertise is above intermediate level. 3. Different ages, seniorities, duties of administration are the most important contextual factors resulting in differences in the perception of administrative teacher’s expertise. 4. Different ages, seniorities, duties of administration are the most important contextual factors resulting in differences in the practice of administrative teacher’s expertise. 5.There are positive correlations between the perception and practice of administrative teacher’s expertise. According to the research findings, some suggestions are proposed for schools, administrators and future researchers.
