Abstract:
One of the main tasks in the operation of automotive vehicles is the development of measures to protect the environment from toxic components of exhaust gases (exhaust) of internal combustion engines. Biogas is one of the most environmentally friendly fuels for vehicles, as it produces minimal emissions of carbon dioxide and particulate matter. The gas engine runs quieter, vibration is reduced, which helps to improve the working conditions of drivers. The article is devoted to the development of new fuel compositions based on diesel fuel (DT) and biogas (BG) that meet the requirements of their application in diesel. The article is referred to effective performance of a diesel and the performance of its opacity and toxicity when operating on mixtures consisting of 85% diesel + 15% HD and 70% diesel + 30% BG at different values of the angle of installation of an advancing of injection of fuel. The results of bench tests of diesel when working on these fuel compositions are given. Based on the analysis of the experimental data, the optimal regulation of the fuel supply equipment was determined. According to the results of bench tests of diesel engine with mixtures of BG following conclusions: 1) When using diesel fuels with the addition of 15% HD and 30% BG optimum installation angle of an advancing of injection should be considered ?vpr angle=22?; 2) Operation diesel with additives 15% HD and 30% BG, the amount of heat, allows to reduce the consumption of diesel fuel, respectively, 15% and 30%; 3) The diesel engine works on mixed fuels with the addition of the BG is accompanied by a reduction in emissions from the exhaust gases of soot particles tend to be around the expected range of variation of the angle setting; 4) Work on mixed diesel fuels with the addition of BG in the whole considered range of variation of the angle of installation is accompanied by an increase of emissions in the EXHAUST gas of nitrogen oxides and unburned hydrocarbons.

Abstract:
Abstract The development of economy and industry introducing new technologies and materials often means the increased threat of occurrence of factors harmful to humans and environment. Workers employed in foundries as mould pourers are the group of high professional risk. Foundry moulding sands when poured with liquid metal are a source of the emission of harmful, toxic and carcinogenic (benzene, PAHs) compounds. The paper presents the results of studies on the concentration of chemical compounds emitted in the process of casting aluminium alloy and brass using moulding sands with the new inorganic binders. The specific values of the exposure indices were compared with the limit values. This enabled an assessment of the impact of moulding sands on work environment. The obtained results were compared with the values of contaminants emitted when pouring foundry moulds made from furan sands and bentonite sands with an addition of coal dust. Studies were carried out under the project POIG.01.01.02-00-015/09 "Advanced materials and technologies."

Abstract:
IntroductionAfter analysis of biological and pharmacological data, we formulated the hypothesis that the factors involved in trafficking of stem cells could be engaged in aetiology of bipolar disorder (BP).AimsIn this study, we considered the role of complement cascade proteins, stromal derived factor-1 (SDF-1), and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) in long-term treated BP.MethodsA group of 30 patients with BP, without the history of lithium treatment, was examined in remission and compared with a group of 30 healthy volunteers. In peripheral blood, we have analysed the concentration of stromal derived factor-1 (SDF-1), sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), and some proteins of the complement cascade (C3a, C5a, C5b-9).ResultsPeripheral blood concentration of C3a, C5a, C5b-9 and SDF-1 was significantly higher in BP group compared to control group. The concentration of S1P does not distinguish BP patients from controls.ConclusionOur results suggest the possible role of the regeneration system in aetiology of BP.This work was supported by grant POIG.01.01.02-00-109/09.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The whole range of interactions can be found between host and guest in supramolecular assemblies from ion-ion interactions, ion-dipole interactions, dipol-dipol interactions through hydrogen bonding, cation-π interactions, π-π stacking to van der Waals forces. Additionally, the same interactions exist between the supramolecular complex and its surrounding, i.e. solvent molecules, neighboring complexes, gases, etc. Recently the interest of scientists in the field of supramolecular chemistry is focused on design and synthesis of water-soluble synthetic macrocyclic ligands which are good receptors for biologically important guest molecules and can mimic the models of biological systems. Studying such complexes may provide new insight into the mechanisms of the formation of similar natural systems and as a consequence will help in better understanding the processes which occur in biological systems and in developing new materials with specific properties and functions. In this presentation the interactions which are stabilizing inclusion complexes of calix[n]arenes and cyclodextrins (host molecules) with guest molecules of biological interest, especially drug molecules will be discussed. Full text
Abstract:
The term organic zeolites, originally has been introduced to chemical literature by R.M. Barrer, to describe molecular crystals having open porous structures, able to reversibly absorb and desorb organic species with relatively weak, if any, sorption of water or other hydrophilic molecules. A characteristic feature of the organic zeolite structures, when compared to classical `inorganic' zeolites based on aluminosilicates, is the relatively weak intermolecular bonding within the host component. This is the reason for significant flexibility of the host crystal structure which changes its parameters upon guest absorption, desorption or exchange. The most characteristic property in this respect is absorption with `adsorbate generated sorption sites' which is the basis for design and control of selectivity and efficiency of sorption-desorption processes. In general, organic zeolite behavior may be observed on a large variety of supramolecular materials, including solvates of macrocyclic compounds and in the very important, so-called- MOFs. In the paper solvation of cyclodextrins and their complexes will be used as the convenient example, based on brand new, mostly yet unpublished large structures of heavily solvated cyclodextrin complexes in the solid state. Cyclodextrins are commonly known as materials having intra-molecular cavity able to accommodate guest species. This property, when combined with sorption in the inter-molecular space in the solid state structures of CDs leads to very interesting structures and properties. In general, such behavior may be observed only when CD moieties are at equilibrium with a solution of the respective guest and solvent species. The equilibria are quite sensitive to minor changes of solution chemical composition what may be observed microscopically as morphology changes of the crystalline phases. This phenomenon will be illustrated with short movies demonstrating crystal behavior on change of its environment. Novel x-ray structures will also be demonstrated and commented. Abstract:
49 Background: Increasing evidence suggests that gastric malignancy may be a stem cell disorder. Methods: Using FACS analysis supported by ImageStream technique verification, various populations of bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSCs), such as Lin-CD45-CD133+CXCR4+ very small embryonic/epiblast-like stem cells (VSELs), CD45-STRO-1+CD105+ mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), Lin-CD45+CD133+ hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs), and CD34 +/ KDR +/ CD31 +/ CD45- endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) were enumerated and sorted from peripheral blood samples of patients with gastric cancer (n = 23) and other gastric tumors (GISTs, NENs, lymphomas; n = 15) and control patients (n = 15). RT-qPCR analysis for the expression of cancerous, embryonic, and tissue trans-differentiation markers (Oct-4, Nanog, TFF-1, TFF-2, Lgr-5, BMI-1) in circulating VSELs was employed. The plasma levels of stromal-derived factor-1 (SDF-1), complement-derived anaphylatoxins/molecules (C3a, C5a, C5b-9/MAC), and interleukins (IL-6, IL-8, IL-17 and IL-23) were measured. Results: Significantly lower numbers of circulating HSPCs, and intensified peripheral trafficking of both VSELs and MSCs was observed in patients with gastric cancer, but not in those with other types of gastric tumors. In gastric cancer patients, the circulating VSELs presented higher gene expression of Oct-4, Nanog, Lgr-5, BMI-1, and TFF-1/2. The abnormal balance in the peripheral trafficking of BMSCs in patients with gastric cancer was not associated with the clinical stage of the disease or with the systemic levels of stromal-derived factor-1 (SDF-1), but correlated with the levels of C5b-9/MAC, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-23. Conclusions: Abnormal peripheral trafficking of BMSCs occurs in patients with gastric cancer, but not in those with other types of gastric neoplasms. Selected interleukins and complement cascade-derived molecules, but not SDF-1, seem to be significant players associated with this phenomenon (POIG.01.01.02-00-109/09 and IP2014003273).
