This paper documents part of the process of preparing to fully reopen the physical Self-Access Learning Center (SALC) in a university in Japan after being somewhat interrupted during two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Self-access is becoming increasingly complex, multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary and it is necessary to revisit SALC mission statements periodically, particularly after major events or changes. A group of language educators working at the university examined literature and theories from a range of perspectives in order to inform the future directions of the SALC. In a series o

It employs focused case-studies drawn extensively from manuscripts and early printed sources to demonstrate the transmission of humoral theory in religious circles and how this changed over time, especially with the shift from Latin to the vernacular in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. By demonstrating the transmission of humoral ideas outside the medical sphere in England in this period, this provides evidence for a ‘medicalization’ of society at this t

Like all scale inhibitors (SI), it must perform the dual role of inhibiting scale formation at low concentration levels (~2 to 20ppm) while giving acceptably long return curves at the wellbore. Both of these properties of polymeric scale inhibitors, inhibition efficiency and retention, are thought to be the functions of the molecular weight. MLPs provide at least the same corrosion resistance as the CRA-clad pipes; however, as the liner is not metallurgically bonded to the carbon steel outer pipe, there is an additional failure mechanism of liner buckling during installation or strain associated wit
