This work traces the evolution of plate armour in England during the fifteenth century, and explores the possibility of the existence ofa unique English style of armour design during that time. Das sind so genannte Initialbuchstaben, die mit floralen Ornamenten, meistens Blattformen oder Ranken, versehen sind. Neben dieser Ausführung winden sich von den Buchstaben oder Initialfeldern Ranken hinweg, welche sich über die Ränder der Seiten oder zwischen den Schriftspalten entlang ziehen. This thesis explores the evolving history of the Cistercian convent of Günterstal in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. It is structured around the anointing of the Last Rites of a Günterstal nun who was blessed on her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands, heart and feet. William Langland's The Vision of Piers Plowman was probably the first medieval English poem to achieve a national audience because Langland chose to write in the vernacular and he used the specialized vocabularies of his readership to open the poem to them.
