Abstract:
An invasive seed-beetle species cowpea weevil Callosobruchus phaseoli (Gyllenhal, 1833), was found in the south-eastern Kazakhstan (Almaty city) for the first time. Its areal includes India (species origin), South and Central America, Europe, Middle East (Israel), North Africa, Arabian Peninsula, Far East, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Burma, Philippines, Hawaiian Islands, Australia, and Oceania. Damaged plants are adzuki bean Vigna angularis (Willd.) Ohwi & H. Ohashi (1969), mung bean Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek, broad bean Vicia faba Linnaeus, 1753, pea Pisum sativum Linnaeus, 1753, pigeon pea Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth, 1893, hyacinth bean Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet, 1826, Wisteria sp., lima bean Phaseolus lunatus Linnaeus, 1753, common bean Phaseolus vulgaris Linnaeus, 1753 and other species of beans, chickpea Cicer arietinum Linnaeus, 1753, Sesbania sp., rattlepod Crotalaria spectabilis Roth., lupine Lupinus sp. Emerged beetles immediately mate and begin to lay eggs on the same day. Beetle damage both in field and in storage. We were not able to find the species during the monitoring of agriculture lands and natural landscapes near the city. We assumed that the invasion occurred recently and the species did not have time to spread outside Almaty. Since C. phaseoli was discovered in Almaty, which is a transit crossroad for many trade routes, further species distribution should be predicted. The most probable corridor for further invasion of cowpea weevil in Kazakhstan is the south and southeast parts of the country, namely Almaty, Zhambyl, Turkestan, and Kyzylorda oblast's.

Abstract:
This essay attributes an 1815 condemnation of fornication, published in Vermont, to Lemuel Haynes (1753-1833). Redressing a deficit of scholarly attention to sexuality in early African American print culture, it contextualizes Haynes's document within a spectrum of similar texts, and notes the variety of print culture instruments available to early African American authors, including anonymous publication, financial subscription, and publishing under a white author's name.

On the basis of DNA sequences of nrITS and plastid matK from 160 ingroup and 105 outgroup samples, Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014) reconstructed the phylogeny and the evolution of the relevant morphological characters of the genus Minuartia Linnaeus (1753: 89), to show that this genus is highly polyphyletic. A revised circumscription of Minuartia was proposed with the recognition of Cherleria Linnaeus (1753: 425), Eremogone Fenzl (1833: 13), Facchinia Reichenbach (1841: 63), Mononeuria Reichenbach (1841: 118), Rhodalsine Gay (1845: 25), Sabulina Reichenbach (1832: 24) and Triplateia Bartling (1830: 305), and recognition of new genera Mcneillia Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014: 83), Minuartiella Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014: 84) and Pseudocherleria Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014: 84).

On the basis of recent molecular studies (e.g., Harbaugh et al. 2010, Greenberg & Donoghue 2011, Dillenberger & Kadereit 2014, Sadeghian et al. 2015), the genus Arenaria Linnaeus (1753: 423), as traditionally circumscribed, cannot be manteined, and 4 genera are currently recognized: Eremogone Fenzl (1833: 13) [≡ Arenaria subg. Eremogone (Fenzl) Fenzl (1842: 360)], Odontostemma Bentham ex Don (1831: 449) [≡ Arenaria subg. Abstract:
The European corn borer Ostrinia nubilalis (Hubner, 1796) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) is a major pest of corn (Zea mays Linnaeus, 1753) in Serbia. Regular monitoring of O. nubilalis in the region of Kikinda (province of Vojvodina, Serbia) demonstrated a high percentage of parasitized eggs of this pest. Preliminary identification of the egg parasitoids based on morphological traits revealed that they belong to the genus Trichogramma Westwood, 1833 (Hymenoptera, Trichogrammatidae). The objective of this study was to identify the autochthonous Trichogramma species present in the region of Kikinda by using sequences of ribosomal DNA. Specimens of Trichogramma were reared from parasitized eggs of O. nubilalis collected at different localities in the region of Kikinda. The ITS2 gene was sequenced and subjected to BLAST searches of GenBank NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information). The majority of collected specimens were identified as Trichogramma brassicae Bezdenko, 1968, and a single specimen as T. evanescens Westwood, 1833. Intraspecific variation of T. brassicae was assessed by amplifying the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (COI) gene. Wasps were also tested for the presence of the endosymbiotic bacteria Wolbachia Hertig, 1936 using Wolbachia-specific 16S and wsp primers as a preliminary test for evidence of thelytoky. Understanding of the diversity and biology of autochthonous Trichogramma species is a key step in the potential commercial implementation of these egg parasitoid wasps in the protection of corn fields in Serbia.

Abstract:
Recent molecular studies (Greenberg & Donoghue 2011, Dillenberger & Kadereit 2014) clearly demonstrated that the genus Minuartia Linnaeus (1753: 89) (Caryophyllaceae Juss.) is highly polyphyletic and the taxa previously placed in that genus (e.g., McNeill 1962, Halliday 1993) represent several distinct phylogenetic lineages less related to each other than to some other readily recognized Caryophyllaceae genera. As a consequence, many taxa, which were earlier treated in Minuartia, should be now placed in several distinct genera. Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014) proposed to recognize within the former Minuartia s.l. several genera which are supported by both morphological and molecular characters. Three genera, Mcneillia Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014: 83), Minuartiella Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014: 84), and Pseudocherleria Dillenberger & Kadereit (2014: 84), were described as new ones. Resurrection and re-circumscription was proposed for previously neglected genera Cherleria Linnaeus (1753: 425), Facchinia Reichenbach (1841: 63), Mononeuria Reichenbach (1841: 118), Rhodalsine J. Gay (1845: 25), Sabulina Reichenbach (1832: 24), and Triplateia Bartling (1830: 305), as well as re-circumscription of Minuartia sensu stricto and Eremogone Fenzl (1833: 13). A key to the new proposed classification and a nomenclatural synopsis of the currently recognized species were provided as well (Dillenberger & Kadereit 2014). Accordingly other authors already validated additional nomenclatural combinations in Eremogone (Rabeler & Wagner 2015), Mcneillia (Bartolucci et al. 2015), and Sabulina (Iamonico 2014).

Abstract:
Three stainless steel grades with different vanadium content were produced in open induction furnace. The base chemical composition of investigated stainless steel has contained 18.48–18.75% Cr, 5.17–5.62% Mn, 2.47–2.58% Mo, and 6.39–6.64% Ni. The vanadium contents of the three stainless steel grades were 0.009%, 0.112%, and 0.189%. The proposed stainless steels were casted at temperatures 1753 K and 1833 K. The nitrogen contents were determined for the produced steel grades at every cast temperature. The determined nitrogen contents were compared with those calculated from the developed equation of Grigorenko and Pomarin. The influence of cast temperature and vanadium content on nitrogen solubility was investigated. Interpretation between experimental and calculated nitrogen content was carried out. Increasing vanadium content and decreasing cast temperature were found to have positive significant effect on the nitrogen solubility. There were great deviations between experimental results and those calculated by Grigorenko and Pomarin equation.

Abstract:
In the first half of the 19th century, the international interdenominational organization the Religious Tract Society in London provided financial support for the publication of religious books in the native languages of the people of the Kingdom of Prussia: German, Polish, Sorbian and Lithuanian. The branch of the Prussian Religious Tract Society established in Klaipėda, an important trading city of the time, took care of the translations of short books into Lithuanian along with their publishing and distribution. Wilhelm Andreas Rhenius (1753–1833), the inspector of the Bachman’s estate, the follower of the Moravian movement, who managed compilations, worked for the Klaipėda branch. This article aims to reveal the ties of Rhenius, the member of the Society, with the international organization in London, and his participation in educational activities in Klaipėda. Lithuanian translations of religious English texts patronized by the Religious Tract Society in London are also discussed, including an anonymous small volume book, The Warning Voice (Graudénimo Balsas, 1818), published in Tilsit, the Prussian Lithuania, in 4,000 copies, and the collected sermons Sixteen Short Sermons (Sźeßolika trumpi Kalbesei, 1820, Tilsit) by the British author Thomas Tregenna Biddulph (1763–1838), the minister of St. James’s Church in Bristol.

Abstract:
Abstract This article delves into the puzzling reception of opera singer Luigia Todi (1753–1833) in order to explore how the traces left by pre-phonographic voices contain long-forgotten cultural histories. Operagoers in 1790s Venice claimed that Todi’s moral qualities allowed her to overcome her “vocal defects,” and, in turn, taught her listeners to become good citizens. Hearing vocal difficulties as a manifestation of interiority, rather than as poor training, marked a significant departure from what were then the predominant aesthetics of operatic voice. In attempting to smooth over this gap, listeners pieced together narratives about Todi’s subjectivity based on the unstable, fragmented sounds of her voice. This article argues that such remediations of Todi’s singing were subtended by two seemingly irreconcilable ontologies of female voice, one of them rooted in ancient myths of sublime song and the other born of Enlightenment ideologies of domesticity. I thus read inscriptions of Todi’s voice through a network of late eighteenth-century Italian cultural anxieties, drawing on literary reimaginings of Sappho, debates over the nature of musical skill, discourses on women’s education, and more. By interrogating the narratives about one woman’s unusual voice, I offer a new origin story for still resonant assumptions about the relationships between gender and disability, politics and domestic labor, and, fundamentally, bodies and voices.

Abstract:
The common bean Phaseolus vulgaris (Linnaeus, 1753) (Fabaceae) is a legume of great importance as a source of vegetal protein in Brazil. The insect damages bean grains and reduces its quality, affecting the appearance, palatability and acceptability by the consumers. The weevil Zabrotes subfasciatus (Boheman, 1833) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae) is one of the main pests of stored beans. The larvae of this insect open galleries in the bean grains, attacking the cotyledons and can completely destroy them. The methods currently used to control storage pest species are the purges and treatment with residual insecticides that are not always effective to exterminate the pests or to prevent reinfestation, and may result in problems such as insect resistance and animals and humans poisoning. This work aimed to evaluate the insecticidal activity of ten different plant species for the control of Z. subfasciatus. The weevil repellence, mortality, oviposition and adult emergence were evaluated in a non-choice test and the weevil oviposition and adult emergence were evaluated in a free-choice test. The plant species used were: Anadenanthera colubrina (Vell.) (cebil), Annona muricata L (soursop), Azadirachta indica A. Juss. (neem), Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul. ( catingueira ), Chenopodium ambrosioides L. (Mexican tea), Cymbopogon citratus Stapf. (lemongrass), Cymbopogon sp. (citronella), Momordica charantia L. (bitter melon), Ricinus communis L. (castor oil plant) and Piper nigrum L. (Black pepper). For the repellence evaluation, a repellence index was established, using the t test for comparing the means. For the mortality and oviposition analysis, in the non-choice test, the F test was used and, when necessary, the means were compared by the Tukey´s test. Mortality, oviposition and adult emergence data were verified and, through a regression analysis, it could be concluded that C. ambrosioides and P. nigrum powders were highly toxic to the weevils, both causing 100% mortality after only four days of exposure. The powders from A. muricata, A. indica, C. pyramidalis, C. ambrosioides, Cymbopogon sp., C. citratus and P. nigrum were repellent to Z. subfasciatus adults and, except for C. pyramidalis, they little prefered oviposition in the free-choice test. In the non-choice oviposition test, there were no eggs on beans treated with C. ambrosioides and P. nigrum powders, and consequently, there was no adult emergence.

(angico), Annona muricata L (graviola), Azadirachta indica A. Juss. (nim), Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul. (catingueira), Chenopodium ambrosioides L. (mastruz), Cymbopogon citratus Stapf. (capim-santo), Cymbopogon sp. (citronela), Momordica charantia L. (melão-de-são-caetano), Ricinus communis L. (mamona) e Piper nigrum L. (pimenta-do-reino).
