Abstract:
It has been done a determination of d 18O (SO42-) and d 18O (H2O) value from Jakarta deep groundwater with depth 40-140 m. The aim of this research is to know some procesess influencing the composition of oxygen isotope in groundwater sulphate. A method commonly used to determine d 18O (H2O) value is according to Epstein-Mayeda. CO2 gas resulted from equilibration process between water sample and CO2 gas standard in which oxygen isotopic reaction has occurred, is injected to mass spectrometer. For determination of d 18O (SO42-) value, Rafter method is used. CO2 gas released from reducing sulphate of water sample with graphite is injected to mass spectrometer. The results of d 18O (H2O) values obtained in this experiment have a narrow range from -5,04 0/00 to -6,65 0/00 SMOW whereas their d18O (SO42-) values have a wider range from +8,3 0/00 to +17,4 0/00 SMOW. The more constant values of d 18O (H2O) performed that evaporation effects might not occur. Based on the similarity between d18O (SO42-) values of deep groundwater and that of marine evaporite sulphate rocks, it is supposed that sulphate of Jakarta deep groundwater was derived from dissolution of this rocks. There was an indication of seawater intrusion around Pejagalan and Kamal Muara Penjaringan area based on the similarity between their d18O (SO42-) values and d18O (SO42-) of modern seawater. The contribution of oxygen from water in sulphide oxidation reaction ranged 0% to 12% suggesting that oxygen in deep groundwater sulphate was mainly derived from atmospheric molecular oxygen Keywords: oxygen isotope, sulphate, groundwater

Abstract:
The full developmental sequence from egg to juvenile of Lipophrys trigloides in controlled conditions is described. In addition, some notes on the spawning behaviour of adults are provided. Embryonic development lasted 13–14 days at 21·00–23·00°C, 16–17 days at 17·25–18·50°C and 17–18 days at 14·00–16·50°C. Newly hatched larvae measured 4·8 mm, had the mouth and anus opened, pigmented eyes and almost no yolk. Most larvae settled between day 39 and 42 after hatching at 16·0–17·0 mm total length (TL) and showed full juvenile pigmentation patterns and behaviour 5 to 10 days later (17·0–18·0 mm TL). A summary of the characteristics of the eggs and larvae that may help in the distinction between L. trigloides and Lipophrys pholis, a very close related species, is also provided.

Abstract:
There are at least 30 high temperature systems; eleven active volcanoes, five degassing volcanoes and one caldera volcano controlled by Sumatra Fault Zone over a length of 1700 km. To understand this geothermal field system, some information about geochemistry including isotope composition in its fluid is needed. Sulphur-34 and oxygen-18 isotopes in dissolved sulphate pair have been used to determine the origin of acidic fluid of sulphate and to evaluate the process involved. The fluids from eight hot springs, two fumaroles, four deep wells and crater have been collected in along Sumatra geothermal fields. Sulphur-34 (d 34S (SO4), 0/00 CDT) and oxygen-18 (d 18O (SO4), 0/00 SMOW) in sulphate is analyzed according to Robinson-Kusakabe and Rafter method, respectively. The d 34S (SO4) values from Sibayak wells are more enriched of 16.8 0/00 to 18.2 0/0 that may indicate the dissolution of anhydrite minerals or isotope partitioning in hydration of SO2. The d 34S (SO4) values from two fumaroles (Pusuk Bukit - North Sumatra and Rantau Dadap - South Sumatra) are at depleted value of -0.150/00 and 1.80/00, those are close to d 34S from magmatic sulphur. In general, the d 34S (SO4) of springs spread in a wide range of 5.250/00 to14.20/00 and show a mixing process between atmospheric sulphate and sulphate from deep wells. The d 18O (SO4) from wells exhibits depleted value around -3.60/00 suggesting that 87.5% of sulphate oxygen is derived from groundwater oxygen and 12.5% is derived from atmospheric molecular oxygen in sulphide oxidation reaction. In the other hand, hot springs (except Semurup), crater and fumaroles have enriched value of d 18O (SO4). These enriched values suggest that a higher percentage of atmospherically derived oxygen compared to those from the depth. Keywords: isotope, geothermal, Sumatra

Abstract:
AbstractEnvironmental enteric dysfunction (EED) and systemic inflammation (SI) are common in developing countries and may cause stunting. In Bangladesh, >40 % of preschool children are stunted, but EED and SI contributions are unknown. We aimed to determine the impact of EED and SI (assessed with multiple indicators) on growth in children (n 539) enrolled in a community-based randomised food supplementation trial in rural Bangladesh. EED was defined with faecal myeloperoxidase, α-1 antitrypsin and neopterin and serum endotoxin core antibody and glucagon-like peptide-2, consolidated into gut inflammation (GI) and permeability (GP) scores, and urinary lactulose:mannitol α-1 acid glycoprotein (AGP) characterised SI. Biomarker associations with anthropometry (15-, 18- and 24-month length-for-age (LAZ), weight-for-length (WLZ) and weight-for-age (WAZ) z scores) were examined in pairwise correlations and adjusted mixed-effects regressions. Stunting, wasting and underweight prevalence at 18 months were 45, 15 and 37 %, respectively, with elevated EED and SI markers common. EED and SI were not associated with 15–24-month length trajectory. Elevated (worse) GI and GP scores predicted reduced 18–24-month WLZ change (β −0·01 (se 0·00) z score/month for both). Elevated GP was also associated with reduced 15–18-month WLZ change (β −0·03 (se 0·01) z score/month) and greater 15-month WLZ (β 0·16 (se 0·05)). Higher AGP was associated with reduced prior and increased subsequent WLZ change (β −0·04 (se 0·01) and β 0·02 (se 0·00) z score/month for 15–18 and 18–24 months). The hypothesised link from EED to stunting was not observed in this sample of Bangladeshi 18-month-olds, but the effects of EED on constrained weight gain may have consequences for later linear growth or for other health and development outcomes.

Abstract:
Background: Although the research on gender in acute type A aortic dissection (AAAD) patients has increased in recent years, the results are still controversial. The effect of time of onset on in-hospital mortality in patients with AAAD of different gender is unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of onset time on in-hospital mortality of patients with AAAD of different gender. Methods: In this retrospective observational study, patients with AAAD were selected from June 2013 to March 2020. Patients' information was extracted from electronic medical records. Based on the onset time, the patients were categorized into four groups: group one (00:00–05:59), group two (6:00–11:59), group three (12:00–17:59), and group four (18:00–23:59). Results: A total of 760 subjects were included in our study. There were 591 (77.8%) males and 169 (22.2%) females. In male patients, 79 cases died, in female patients, 19 cases died (p < 0.05). We conducted subgroup analysis according to gender, univariate Cox regression analysis of male patients showed that compared with the patients at onset time of 0:00–5:59, patients at onset time of 12:00–17:59 and 18:00–23:59 were associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality. Multivariate Cox regression analysis of male patients showed that the onset time of 18:00–23:59 remained as the significant risk factor of in-hospital mortality of male patients hazard ratio (HR) = 4.396 (p < 0.05). Conclusions: This analysis demonstrated that in-hospital mortality of AAAD patients was similar in different genders. In male patients, the onset time of 18:00–23:59 was significantly associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality.

Abstract:
Sludge produced by a model wastewater treatment plant and anaerobically digested at 37°C in a laboratory digester was seeded with G. muris cysts. Samples from the digester were collected at 0:15, 4:00, 8:00, 11:30 and 26:00 hrs. Cyst inactivation was measured by excystation and direct counts of G. muris cysts using a hemacytometer and a phase contrast microscope. The results showed that 99.9% of the cysts were inactivated within apgroximately 18:00 hrs of exposure. This demonstrates that the standard sludge digestion (37°C for 24 hrs) will eliminate most of the cysts (greater than 99.9%).

Abstract:
The effect of adding inulin to balanced diets for tropical gar (Atractosteus tropicus) larvae on growth, survival, digestive enzyme activity, and antioxidant activity was evaluated. The diets were supplemented with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5% inulin in addition to a control diet (0% inulin). A total of 1800 larvae of A. tropicus distributed in 18 tanks were used; the larvae were fed five times a day (8:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, and 18:00) with Artemia nauplii from the absorption of the yolk (from 3–7 days after hatching, DAH) up to 10 DAH, which was mixed with the experimental feeds from 8–11 DAH (co-feeding) and exclusively with the balanced diets from 12 DAH to 21 DAH. Larvae fed the control diet (0% inulin) had the highest growth in weight and length, followed by fish fed the 2.5 and 2.0% inulin inclusions. However, survival showed that the fish fed with the inclusion of 2.5% inulin had the highest percentage (34.7%) compared to the rest of the treatments. On the other hand, the highest digestive enzymatic activities (acid and alkaline proteases, amylase, and lipase) were recorded in the larvae fed with 2 and 2.5% inulin. Likewise, catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities were higher in larvae fed the control diet with 0% inulin. Supplementation of 2.0% to 2.5% inulin in the diet is recommended for A. tropicus larvae as it improves survival and digestive enzyme activity during this early stage of life.

Abstract:
The physical and mechanical properties of the soil and onion seeds, such as the size, shape, mass, density, and the static coefficient of friction on various surfaces play an important role in the development of the dosing working bodies of the seeder. Uzbekistan has recently created various new varieties of onions. Therefore, there is a need to study the physical-mechanical properties of onion seeds of the new varieties to substantiate the parameters of the dosing devices of seeders. Currently, in Uzbekistan, onions are grown as both primary and secondary crops. The development of new technologies and technical means that ensure high-quality soil preparation and sowing onion seeds is impossible without determining the patterns of changes in the physical and mechanical properties of the soil and onion seeds. However, in the conditions of Uzbekistan, the physical and mechanical properties of the soil and onion seeds have not been sufficiently studied. The purpose of the study is to study and analyze the physical and mechanical properties of the soil and onion seeds cultivated in Uzbekistan. The results determining the moisture content, density, and hardness of the soil and geometric dimensions, the weight of 1000 seeds and the static coefficient of friction of onion seeds of the varieties “Sumbula”, “Istikbol” and “Zafar”, the most common in Uzbekistan, are presented. The main physico-mechanical properties of the soil during the period of planting onion seeds were studied according to GOST 20915-2011. The geometric dimensions of the seeds (length, width, and thickness) were determined using a micrometer, and their mass was measured on an electronic scale MN-390. According to the results of the research, the soil prepared for planting onion seeds has a moisture content of 13.4 in 0-5, 5-10, 10-15, and 15-20 cm layers, respectively; 15.1; 17.4 and 18.6%; density: 1.10; 1.14; 1.22 and 1.25 g·cm-3, and the hardness 0.50, 0.64, 0.76, and 0.89 MPa. The minimum value of the natural slope angle of the soil (300) was observed at values of 7-8% of the soil moisture. As the soil moisture increases or decreases from this value, the natural slope angle increases. The coefficient of static friction of the seeds was determined by the method determining the minimum slope angle at which they slide on the friction surface. The coefficient of friction of seed grades “Sumbula”, “Istiqbol” and “Zafar” consists of: for painted steel correspondingly 16˚03’, 17˚03’ and 16˚48’, for neopainted steel – 18˚15’, 19˚42’ 18˚24´, aluminum – 20˚00´, 20˚45´ and 20˚27´, plastic – 26˚00´, 27˚33´ and 26˚42´, rubber – 24˚15´, 24 ˚42´ and 24˚24´. The seeds of early-early “Sumbula” and mid-early “Istiqbol” and “Zafar” onion varieties have the following main physical and mechanical properties: the length from 3.0 mm to 3.2 mm, width from 2.1 mm to 2.3 mm up to 1.8 mm to 1.9 mm thick. The mass of 1000 onion seeds, depending on the variety, ranges from 3.79 to 3.83 g. On a plastic surface, the maximum friction angle measured for the onion seeds was 2658, while the lowest value measured in cast steel was 1651. Friction angles of the seeds of the prospect variety are higher than those of the Sumbula and triumph types on all surfaces.
