Abstract:
The synthesis of monazite was first reported by Radominsky (1875). Since then various methods have been used to synthesize various end members of the monazite solid solution series, mainly CePO4 and LaPO4 (e.g. Anthony, 1957, 1965). As part of an experimental study dealing with the solubility of monazite in granitic melts (Montel, 1986, 1987, and in prep.), the synthesis of some of the end members, as well as solid solutions, was achieved.

Abstract:
Abstract A new felt scale species, Rhizococcus avicennae sp. nov. (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccomorpha: Acanthococcidae), is described and illustrated based on adult females collected in Hamadan province, Iran. The new species resembles Rhizococcus desertus (Matesova, 1957) originally described from Kazakhstan and differs from the latter in having cruciform pores on the venter of the head, thorax, and abdominal segments I and II; in lacking frontal lobes and the frontal tubercle on the head; in the presence of flagellate setae on the ventral submargin and macroducts in three sizes on the venter and dorsum. The females of R. avicennae sp. nov. were found at the bases of leaves of an unidentified species of grass (Poaceae). An identification key to the species of Rhizococcus Signoret, 1875 currently known from Iran is presented.

Abstract:
Arctiini (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae) is the most speciose tribe of tiger moths. In this study, the taxonomy of some Neotropical species of this tribe is reviewed based on habitus and, in some cases, genitalia of type specimens. Lectotypes are designated for two names. Four new combinations are proposed: Agaraea sericeum (Zerny, 1931) comb. n., Biturix nigrostriata (Rothschild, 1909) comb. n., Carales fasciatus (Rothschild, 1909) comb. n. and Opharus pallida (Dognin, 1910) comb. n. Six new synonymies are proposed: Agaraea nigrotuberculata Bryk, 1953 (=Agaraea klagesi (Rothschild, 1909)), Opharus ochracea Joicey & Talbot, 1918 and Pelochyta fergusoni Watson & Goodger, 1986 (=Opharus pallida (Dognin, 1910)), Melese flavescens Joicey & Talbot, 1918 (=Melese paranensis Dognin, 1911), Leucanopsis infucata (Berg, 1882) (=Pareuchaetes aurata aurata (Butler, 1875)) and Tessellota pura Breyer, 1957 (=Tessellota cancellata (Burmeister, 1878)). Moreover, Opharus ochracea Joicey & Talbot, 1918 comb. rev. is returned to the original genus. For each rearrangement, both remarks and information about type specimens are provided.

Abstract:

Lyon 1, 2000. http://www.theses.fr/2000LYO10302.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
While extensive academic research has been done on experiments conducted under the Russian Method of Physical Actions, in particular by Vsevolod Meyerhodl and Constantin Stanislavski, similar endeavours by theater reformers in France have been ignored at the risk of not being understood or treated with complacency. Building on the legendary collaboration between Georges Hébert and Jacques Copeau, we have addressed a simple question that has, however, never led to extensive academic research : what was the significance of the introduction of gymnastics in actor training in France at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century ? Hébert plays a major role in the development of ideas on physical education, gymnastics and sports. His influence is also well known in the world of the performing arts, in particular among Charles Dullin, Jean-Louis Barrault and Jacques Lecoq. For more than twenty years, Hébert runs a journal dedicated to aesthetics, arts and performing arts (circus, danse, theater). We have undertaken an ethnographic description of the corpus « L’Éducation Physique » (1902-40) to analyse references made by Hebertists to Hébert and his work, prevailing ideologies, the aesthetic value of the human body and nature, visual arts and performing arts. This PhD thesis is a contribution to current research in the area of History of the Body, more in particular actor training in Theater Studies and the relationship of aesthetics and arts to physical and sports activities in the study of Sport, Physical Education and Sports Science (STAPS)

Abstract:
This chapter provides a literary and historical glimpse into the political fortunes of the great writers and novelists of the Weimar era, focusing on Kurt Tucholsky, Alfred Döblin, and the brothers Thomas and Heinrich Mann. Tucholsky (1890–1935) was foremost a polemical political journalist, a humorist, and a writer of satiric poetry for the cabarets of Berlin. No ills of the Republic escaped his witty scrutiny, but when the Republic failed he ended his life in despair. Heinrich Mann (1871–1950) was both a prolific writer of fiction and one of Germany's leading political essayists. In response to the cultural changes of the twenties, he developed a new aesthetic for fiction that helped him preserve his utopian ideal of a democratic Germany. Döblin (1878–1957) expressed his criticism of post-war German society with greatest success in Berlin Alexanderplatz. Thomas Mann (1875–1955) is a representative of those writers who had great difficulty in moving away from their aesthetic and autonomous view of literature to a more “democratic” way of writing.
