The genus Scyletria Bishop & Crosby 1938 is reviewed and reduced to its type species, Scyletria inflata Bishop & Crosby 1938, by transfer of the only other species in the genus, Scyletria jona Bishop & Crosby 1938, to Mermessus O. Pickard-Cambridge 1899. The male of S. inflata is re-described, the female of M. jona (Bishop & Crosby 1938) new combination is described for the first time, and the male is re-described.

John Bates Clark (1847–1938) holds a secure position in the history of American economic thought. Specifically, he is remembered for developing the marginal product theory of distribution, which was presented in its most complete form in The Distribution of Wealth (1899). However, Clark's primary intellectual commitment has been largely overlooked. This was his search for the rules and institutions that would create a prosperous economy featuring a just distribution while maintaining the essential structures of competitive capitalism.

The Belgian poet Henri Michaux (1899–1984) visited Argentina in 1936 as guest of honor of the first South American PEN Club Congress. After publishing his impressions of the country in 1938 in an essay that the Argentinean officials considered utterly “undiplomatic” he was denied permission to return in 1939. This article explores the double function of diplomacy as institutional practice and rhetorical gesture by situating Michaux’s essay within a network of interwar textualities, namely, nationalist narratives of the South American landscape and emerging protocols of ethnographic discourse.
